    Great job. Heat will probably subside after the bottle has been opened up for a while. 8 is 57.2, 9 is 58.1. Remember that 8 was opened time ago and has oxidized since then.

    Great podcast! I’d love to see you do batches 3, 5, 8 and 9 blind. If I were to order the batches according to my personal preference I’d go batch 1, 5, 4, 3, 2, 8, 9, 7 and 6 would be dead last. I really wasn’t a fan of that batch. I visited Glenallachie in July 2019 and love what they’ve doing. First tried batch 1 in December 2018 and fell in love. Been through about 15 bottles and glad to still have 14 stashed away. All have been/continue to get opened and shared. Great stuff!

    If Glen Garioch released a cask strength version, that would give a run for the money. Fortunately there are a few indies out there so you don’t need to dream. I’m still working on the Batch 3 from Glenallachie. Based on this video, I’ll grab a Batch 8, which is still around. Thanks for the video!

    Great upload guyz 👌
    Each batch is different, and reviews are such a personal thing... 8 is best for one person and 9 is best for another!
    So it's a very personal thing, and if that's the case across several people then which is actually the best?
    There is no best, except to that person on that day, so it's a review of the reviewer and the whisky!!!😮
    If that makes sense? 😂😂
    Keep up the good work please J x

      @@WhiskyInThe6 true. But I don’t think its meant to be drank at full strength. I do have batch 2 Tamdhu so maybe quality has dropped recently. I like both because Tamdhu is 100% Sherry so it is a bit different from Glenallechie 10

    great comparison between these batches guys! You sold me on batch 8 as I can only afford one right now given my bourbon buying this summer and all the other batches seem to be gone in SoCal already. I look forward to doing my own comparison on batch 8 vs Arran Bodega and Aberlour Abundah batch 69. Glad you both are honest about how bad a lot of these other offerings are, seems like there is reluctance with other Whiskeytubers to criticize cask strength offerings even when they are subpar.

    Do you boys ever add water to any whisky? Cask strength usually isn’t too hot for me to drink neat, but with most whiskies that much alcohol just obscures the flavors. Almost always cut to 46-52% for me.

      @WhiskyInThe6  10 месяцев назад +2

      I always mean to but hardly ever do.

    • @utoobia
      @utoobia 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@WhiskyInThe6 LOL. It would be an interesting espisode for you guys to take a couple CS whiskies, each watered to different levels, and rate them. For example, take a 55% whisky, and try:
      1) full strength
      2) 54% (touch of water which many claim they perceive)
      3) 50%
      4) 46%
      Not doubting you’ll pick full strength, but it’d make an interesting episode.

    Only bought the 6 and it was very disappointing, very soapy, and a mash of flavours (too many cask types?). With right now there being so many cask strength whiskies to be available, I cant see myself ever buying one of these again. Bunna CS as a sherried example blows it out of the water.

    I was getting the 10 about 2 years ago for $75 here and now it's a $100 everywhere. I'm good with my batch 5 and 6 and it's not a go to for me and would rather drink Benromach CS. Glenallechie wishes it was Benromach. To me one of the best from Speyside because it's not typical Speysidey stuff and same with Craigellechie and Mortlach indy bottled stuff. I can't drink basic bitches from Speyside anymore. Too boring. It's time for you to get into Jamaican rum now. You are an old enough millenial to handle it now. LOL !!!

      Because I’m 100% in agreement with you on Benromach and Craigellachie, I’m going to try a Mortlach. Recommendations welcome. I tried a couple rums recently to take a break from Scotch. FourSqaure Indelible and Appleton 21. Easily the two best rums I’ve ever had, but just too sweet, and not a ton of complexity compared to single malts.
