Alan I missed out on the latest Kilkerran 8 release. So I drowned my sorrows with a dram of this. Now I’m all happy again.
I took a part im ballot but i missed too 🤷♂️😥🙋♂️
Great video buddy, when you say "spicy sherry", I immediately think of Glengoyne. Excited to try this one.
Great detailed notes Alan... My GA Batch 7 just arrived, so not got round to opening yet... Looking forward, got some Batch 5 still around to compare to also.. cheers
Great review Alan. Your love for this dram is obvious.
I had the pleasure of sharing one of these with Billy Walker at the GWF. A whisky moment to savour.
Awesome... Cheers fella...
I will pick up my bottle tomorrow, looking forward to taste it. I did a battle last Saturday between batch 5 and 6, and in my taste that night, batch 6 came up on top. But it was real tight.
I'm with you all the way on this one Alan. That coffee , leather and honey just does job alongside the spice notes. It does it for me big time 👌 A great powerful young whisky 👊
Thanks Alan, for reviewing this one.
With reviews like this the bucker list never gets shorter 😄
Slàinte mhath
Just picked up this bottle today, had a dram at the bar before the scotch whisky tour and fell in love with it! Dry, spicy, PX heaven for me. Lovely after taste, it lasts!
Man! You sure nabbed this one right away. Congrats! Look forward to trying it. I’ve been loving batch 5, which I much prefer to batch 6. Look forward to eventually nabbing a bottle of this as well. Slainte!
Think I'm getting greedy... Lol
As long as you're drinking and sharing them, my friend, it's all good. I can't tell you how many people I've brought into scotch via batch 5. I like to throw them in the deep end. No boring Glenfiddich or Glenlivet 12s. Toss them into sherried speysiders at cask strength and let them swim their way to victory. I brought it to a wedding and many a lady and groomsman who normally would not drink a whisky were asking for seconds and learning all about Billy Walker. You gotta love the juice!
Looking forward to this. I've really been enjoying both Batch 5 and Batch 6. For several months there, I was favoring bourbon cask finishes but I've recently swung back to the sherry bombs. Were you able to get your hands on the new Kilkerrans? Looking forward to reviews of those.
Certainly seems up my street - as you know, I like the big spicy ones! Cheers mate.
Smashing pal
Sounds AMAZING!😋😋😋😋😋
You’re hitting almost all my favorite tasting notes. Just missing peat. Sounds like something I need to pickup. 👍🥃
That's what's missing to take this score to 95/96 a hint of peat... Cheers Nick hope you and Penny are well my friend...
@@thewhiskyfriend Could add a drop of octomore to the bottle ?:D
That pour...wow!!!
Responsible sipping of course... #DOONTHEHATCH
I haven't seen any new batches of Glenallachie in the Chicago area for a few years now. The remaining old bottles have had their prices jacked way up.
Billy seems to be pushing these out at a more frequent rate than other lines of different distilleries. Not a complaint, as I have enjoyed this whole series, just an observation. Can’t wait to get this one in the U S. Thanks for the rundown on this batch. Cheers All!
Your very welcome sir....
92 is Killer Score, can't wait to try to get some
I found one bottle of #7 in a pile of batch #8. This one is my favorite bottle in my collection.
IF YOU LOVE DIRTY ROBUST FLAVORS, DONT ADD WATER.
Batch 5 👌
These can be a little tough to find in my part of the US. What’s the most you would pay for a Glenallechie CS?
What is your favorite batch between 7 and 9 and why?
I wish I liked it as much as you and others. I think I have Batch 6 (it might be 7) and I just think it's a sherry bomb aged in an overactive casks. It's alright whisky but I think it's too expensive for something which isn't particularly complex. Don't beat me up. Cheers and all the best. WT
cheers Welsh, i just love this stuff fella....its right up my street....cheers for dropping bye fella....
@@thewhiskyfriend Hey big guy, I love me a sherry bomb too. Too bad for me that I love actual sherry more than whisky sherry bombs. I'm also a bit aware of the recent Glenallachie hype which reminds me so much of Springbank, Macallan, Kilikerran, Foursquare, Japanese, etc, etc. It's good whisky (Batch 6) but I have had countless independent sherry bomb bottles that are just as good. They nearly all taste the same these days. Peace
Cant wait to get my hands on this one, bach 6 whas waste of monney imho. The bach 7 sound like bach 5🥰
I am surprised fella... If you still have that batch 6 go back and give it a try now....
I opend bach 4, bach 5 and bach 6 at the same time bach 4 love the deep sherry with the amazing freshness, bach 5 is incredible with hint of freshness and deep sherry with all the amazing Spice, bach 6 is youst boring sherry sherry sherry.
I had the bottels opend 3 month before it got emty.
Tryed a smpel i put away still same feelings 😧
