  • Episode 601. Both of these releases are big and bold Scotch with full Sherry and/or Wine influence. With more time and a few sips they have really separted in profile. Glendronach full sherry from sweet to dark, while the GlenAllachie adds ripe grape and almost Bourbon like vanilla and peanuts. What do you think? #glendronach #glenallachie #whisky

Just finished a whole whack of yard work, with a very dear friend who pitched in to help. Now it's time to relax with a nice dram, and a sense of accomplishment 😊
Never had Glenallachie, so thought I'd sip along with the classic GlenD 12. Obviously not a bruiser in ABV like these two, but at least hitting one of the distillerys.
Oaky, slight bitterness, maybe a hint of dark unsweetened chocolate...then cherry and stewed fruit for days.
    Excellent stuff all round.
Can't imagine you being anything but a damned good Dad. Your kids (not really kids anymore, I guess) are lucky.
Have a really great day tomorrow, and Happy Father's Day Jon! 🥃🥃

Thanks for the kind words. Made lots of mistakes, but I would say, my kids know they are loved, and I am always here for them. I am so thankful we are together in life. GD 12 is a fine dram and this certainly has echoes of that. Enjoy the sense of accomplishment!

Happy Father’s Day Jon! I really like little hint of citrus in Glendronach CS. Slàinte 🥃 !

Happy Father's Day, Jon! Always love sherry bombs. Previously, Glendronach CS bottles have an age in small print on the back label. Cheers

I can see the laser etching, but not age stamp. Or at least I can't find it. Hope you have a great weekend too!

Great review of those two supposed sherry dominant CS. I have tried GlenAllachie 10 CS B8 and it's a solid dram. I picked up B9 so look forward to trying that in future. I am glad to hear there are different flavor nuances between GA and GD CS. WIth that, I would love to find a bottle of Glendronach CS somewhere in ON or even in AB to have an oppty to compare. I am still loving the A'bunadh for a CS sherry bomb experience though. Happy Father's Day to you Jon! I am proud dad of two incredible sons that are at a stage where I see the whole thing is slowly turning into a father-son to a dad-son-friend thing...weird but in a good way!

good to know, glenalachaie is out for me. started my journey on bourbon, and virgin oak is getting placed on the back burner wanting something different. this really showed up for me when i tried slane vs the higher proof slane using more virgin oak, and i liked the cheaper version better cuz it didnt overpower the sherry cask

Then Glendronach would definitely be my pick!

Nice review Jon and Happy Father's Day. The only sherry cask Scotch I currently have is the Macallen 12 Year, but a tasty pour. By the way, I love your intro music. What is it? Slàinte Mhath!

Macallan 12 is a tasty Scotch! I will have to ask my cousin-nieces who played it for me. I wish I knew! It was just something fun they did for my channel.

Are you going to be reviewing the new Alberta Distiller's Rare Batch 23 Year Old? Frankly, I thought you would have had a review up by now.
