I have to travel 5 hours to find Springbank and I always buy it when I find it. What were the prices for these bottles?

    • @CuriosityPublic
      @CuriosityPublic  Год назад +17

We should have discussed the prices -
Glendronach - we paid around $90 (700ml euro bottle)
Benromach - you can find it aroudn $90
      Glenlivet Nadurra - around $90
Aberloud Abunadh - also around $90
Springbank ---- we paid $120. Hard to find these days - gets marked up 2x-3x that.

The SB 12 year CS at 56.1% ABV should be batch 21 and has a 4 way finish: sherry, bourbon, burgundy and a touch of port. Love that one!!

One very notable absence is the GlenAllachie 10 CS similar to Glendronach in that it's a Billy Walker reclamation project.

For a long time, Springbank 12y CS was a 70% ex-Sherry and 30% ex-Bourbon, then they made a couple of 50/50, and the one before was a 35% Sherry and 65% Bourbon.
The one you tried is very unique, batch 21 is 45% Sherry, 25% Bourbon, 25% ex-Bourgone red wine cask and 5% ex-Porto.

Bunna 12CS 2022. If you guys haven’t had it…you need to. The 2021 is the 12CS. The 2022 version is 18CS. First bottle in awhile I bought multiple bottles. Under 100 out the door at whisky exchange.

The Tamdhu batch strength is really friggin good. Too bad you didn't include it.
I have the A'Bunadh waiting to be opened.
Need to find that Nadurra. Man, it's crazy how well Glenlivet does in your blinds. I have the 18 soon to be opened.
I can never get my hands on Springbank where I am. Going to Scotland this summer. I guess I'll get to try it there.

I swear guys later batches of the Benromach even with it's dunnage funk are worth putting om the bar, but obviously if you find a Springbank on the shelves, double take( it might be a knock -off)

  • @kftower

The Glenlivet is very understated and seems to do well in the larger blinds. It is very non offensive and a good scotch all the way around. Would love to see a couple head to heads with it vs others. I'm not sure it would do as well.

I had a Nadura once but it was many years ago, not sure it was the same thing. Of the rest, I've been drinking the A'bunadh for a very long time, really enjoy it every time. Sounds like the Springbank is a unicorn. I'll pick up a GlenDronach if I see it as I like their other products.

Agree with other posters. Bunna 2022 CS is another lovely sherry bomb. Would love to know how it would have stood up against your line-up. Hopefully you’ll review at some point.
For my Dad and I, it won our blind taste test against the Glendronach CS Batch 11, (which was very good in it’s own right).
