The problem with the value is that most places, this is sold above $90. These bottles are priced in a lot of places over $100, more like $200 if found. Any place that sells them at the actual cost, they’re usually out of stock and when they do arrive, you’re very lucky to get it…
That's a fair score. I'm glad I stocked up on all the Fortaleza expressions before the craziness hit Florida.
I miss when Fortaleza was readily available lol. I worked at a Whole Foods for a while that always had Fortaleza in stock, and with my employee discount Fortaleza was a ridiculous deal. Was my daily drinker lol. Hype can be such a funny thing for all niche hobbies.
Good news about the distillery expansion!
Fortaleza and Cascahuin are my top 2 favorite tequilas, so I had to check out this review and solid score! It still amazes me how all flavors change with the lots, gotta love it! Just need the distillery expansion in hopes of bringing the prices down for Fortaleza while increasing availability.
You guys crack me up! 😂 (drinking with you guys would be a blast)
Fortaleza is the perfect fastball tequila. Can’t go wrong with it.
Just found a anejo for $75 😊
I had Fort añejo at a restaurant. I loved it the first time I tried it, and went back another day and had it again. The second time I was not as impressed. Still good, but I think the hype and excitement really had me in the first visit. For me the aroma was the best part. Sounds like I need to try 345, but I’ve never seen it.
Will buy if I ever see one. Very entertaining video.
Jules nailed this.
Most of the Ocho Anejo years and terroirs are significantly better than Fort Anejo. I would love to see you guys try Crotalo expressions. Amazing story with the owner(from Encinitas) and really unusual double barrel aging with virgin french oak and port wine. They long aged blends are insane.
I tried the Blaco. Where can I purchase the Anejo. I cannot find any in California. Would love to try some
Also, I think Lot 42-A is still king though, even over Tears of Llorona imo!
Loved this video. I don’t have much experience with tequila. Recently bought Tears because of you all. Haven’t opened it yet. Could you suggest two more tequilas? Gonna try all three blind.
if you want ones to try side by side with Tears, consider Arte Nom 1146 and maybe El Tesoro Paradiso. Not the cheapest, but would be interesting in a side by side.
you live in the US? buy G4 Tequila. thats (at the moment) best value for money... cheers. Markus, Tequila-Kontor
Perfect time for a blind test for sure you have 2 try one more. I rather not make a suggestion since I prefer blancos most of the time or I haven’t tried it because I can’t find it where I live. Post your thoughts?
If you’re doing a blind of XA’s I would add Rey Sol, Cascahuin, and Tapatio to your comparison
I have it here but they are listing the anejo for 150. I got to try it before the hype. Hope you guys are right that in the next year or so it will be priced better.
Liquor retailers are PRICE GOUGING ...Be careful! 😮
I was lucky to have this at a restaurant a couple nights ago and it was very enjoyable. Just wish I could find it in the Phoenix area at a respectable price point. There is a local liquor store in my area that has 1 bottle and they are charging $230.
I found a couple stores that have it out here for cheaper lol can’t tell where but I’ll tell you how I found it. Fortaleza has there allocation list on their website. I called every store they had on their website until I tracked it down… Good luck
@@Taydee762 thanks for the tip
@@jasongenco8825 no problem
Only 400 bottles dropped in my state. I was lucky to find one at $110. I would say it's an absolute buy even at $120. So far it is the most bourbon friendly anejo I've tried. Everyone I sample it out to absolutely loves it.
I have a decent lineup of tequila (nothing on you guys) with G4's, Tequila Ochos, and El Tesoro. None of them hold a candle to Fortaleza from a bourbon drinker perspective. Now from a pure Tequila perspective I think Tequila Ocho is a better agave plus barrel experience. Fortaleza is just better at bringing the caramel and browned sugar notes with a more subtle agave punch. The punch of Agave is what pushes bourbon guys away and that's where Fortaleza shines.
When I want a great anejo tequila experience I reach for Tequila Ocho. When I want a great neat spirit experience I reach for Fortaleza Anejo.
I'd also say at $110 or $120 it's a better aged spirit experience than most $120 whiskies. Even if the barrel age time is pretty short. I always think of Tequila as paying for the growing time, processing time, and minimally, the barrel time. Compared to other spirits where the white dog is a cheap to manufacture experience and the costly component is time in a barrel.
$240. On Long Island NY. Nuts
$200 in California.. I’d buy whatever I can get my hands on at $80/bottle!
What part of California/ I am from The Bay Area. I need a bottle desperately.
@@maosivutha4105I have in SF
@@maosivutha4105I'm seeing 200 as well in socal
Tripping that the añejo is available at $90. Also lot 70 would score about 5-10 pts higher than 67 as an example of the difference in vintages.
Also beats Tears in a head to head… sorry Tears. Most balanced and drinkable añejo of all time.
Legit King status but, “I always get it for $80 with my coupon” 😂
Also beats Tapatio Excelencia in a head to head.
Butterscotch is not mentioned which is loud and clear along with the agave but you guys are the pros…
Hardest bottle to find in my area. I have the silver and it's amazing. Would love to grab a bottle of Anejpo.
I've only seen the Blanco and Repo in the last year once and one bottle of each. I'm from Delaware, and they were $80 each.
Great stuff, but too much barrel for me for that price. You guys know I love my Siete
The Añejo is regularly sold for $140+. At $90 I’d buy as many as I could afford…
You guys should do a Mezcal drink through. Curious what you guys think
I think still strength is my favorite from the lineup, but the anejo is still solid and would buy for 100 and under
Please do a Mijenta drinkthrough TM
I have a bottle 66-a that i will be opening in a few weeks
Best añejo I have in my selection!
Dillon --Pious for the People!
I love that tequila is blowing up. Can't wait until the tators move from bourbon/whiskey to tequila.
It was going for $220 over here🤦♂️
Fortaleza is harder to find than BTAC these days. When I want good tequila l just go with Tears as it is readily available and way better.
Sounds like a great taste, probably not going to spend that kind of money on tequila.
Drinking Abasolo corn whiskey while watching this. This stuff is really growing on me. Going to have to bunker a few bottles.
Try blind tasting on different batches!
Sometimes struggle following your logic as you compare this Anejo to Extra Anejos. Almost think you should only compare vs other anejos (just like comparing it’s unfair to compare a bourbon’s spiciness when to a rye - or a BIB to a cask strength - unfair)
RR15 review in bound soon?
sadly not soon because of our chaotic filming schedule. But we've tried it. I do have a short fresh crack clip coming soon.
No way for $120. I’ve passed on $90.
23:08 Bon Appetit?
Once again, Dylan has the winning opinion
This is bullshit reddit said fortanejo would bring me closer to God how is score not over 100

@@abalm45 it's just booze. Anyone paying triple retail for likes or clicks should probably spend that money to get their head examined. Hard to believe it's 2024 & people are still stuck on piña toppers.
$120 for me
In Canada we get only maybe 15% of the tequila brands found in the US and we do not get Fortaleza. So I buy at whatever price I can find. 😢
