You repeatedly state the Corryvreckan is ex sherry. My understanding is that it’s ex-bourbon and French oak with No sherry. However the Ugi is ex sherry.
I'm amazed in watching over an hour of Dillion I only heard "Academic Excercise" once, and he didn't say "Stewed Fruit" at all! Great drink through CPU!
Love that Jules was focused only getting through this insane drink without words through while at the same time calling out Dillon's quest to be the "supernose"! Ardbeg 25 samples to your Patreon, and thank you for your liver sacrifice for us.
Dillon will disagree, but I find adding a few drops of water to the Uigeadail brings out more flavor and complexity. I would not normally say that about most whiskys.
I'm late to the party but really enjoyed this Drinkthrough....entertaining as hell but also very helpful with deciding on what to give a shot of the Ardies. Nice job lads.
I rarely watch a video as long as this one. But, I watched all of it. Congratulations. Just bought a bottle of Corryvreckan. Look forward to opening it. Great Drinkthrough. Thanks.
One of the best unintentional pairings I have had was drinking an Ardbeg 10 with a Tonkatsu Ramen(pork broth). The Ardbeg 10 gave the rich broth even more flavor, and the oil from the ramen held up to the ABV of a spirit that can overpower most foods. Ya gotta give it a try.
Love the video. I think any of the special releases on their own come off as lackluster/not worth the money, but drinking them all together def provides great context and obviously the only way to drink Ardbeg lol
Great drink through. Incidentally I was having a dram of Ardbeg 1974 G&M only last night. Wonderful. Completely different to modern Ardbeg. Sweat peat & almost tropical in nature. 👌🏻
Amazing Drinkthrough(tm). One observation on the Ardbeg Fermutation. People commonly think Whisk(e)y is basically distilled beer. While it is much more nuanced than that, conceptually they are not that far off. And Fermutation is exactly what you would image distilled Sam Adams would taste like.
Terrific video! I love Ardbeg - talk about delicious and I love analysing the nosing and palette on each expression! The Ten, the UIG and the Coreyvbreckan, the 19 year old Traigh Bhan (love the mouth feel in this expression and the Corey - yup worth every Penny for the Traigh Bhan and I definitely pay more in Canada!!) are all amazing for me. I just have to say I could never refer to the Corey as uncooth!! Love them all so much and I prefer them to the special releases. I go back and forth sometimes with the An Oa. It's a mood choice for me. I'd have to disagree that the UIG has such a short finish, at least for myself. I get delicious flavours through the mid palette and for me the UIG has a medium finish. I don't experience it as immediately trailing off. For me the Corey ends up booming ahead of the UIG as much as I love it and I absolutely do. For a peat lover to me the Corey is the winner. I'd like to see a lot more focus on the core lineup than the special releases to keep quality higher. It's a common refrain heard in the scotch community and I can see why. I am a few years into single malt scotch but the learning never stops! Ardbeg 25 is bliss. It's impossible for me not to experience this expression as close to perfection! I feel lucky to have 2 unopened bottles and one on the go sparingly. It's about $1,300 per bottle in Vancouver and I usually order through Alberta to get it cheaper!! The price is for the quality - it's not the box! Having had it many times I think it opens up and so much can be explored. Oh! Wee Beastie is damn good for a 5 year scotch! I like a punchy wild ride! The Ten is often described as a wild ride as well! I was not a fan of Fermutation. Alcohol is more expensive in Canada so our prices are higher on single malts, and everything else as well (taxes) but well worth every penny!! No matter how many single malts I have, no matter how elegant, I love coming back to Ardbeg and Lagavulin - esp the 16!! I am always happy to find another whisky channel! Cheers! 🙂Oh if I was holding a wedding and had to choose a bottle for each table? Say it's 200 people? Ardbeg Ten is perfect! It's a damn nice scotch! 🙂
I really love and appreciate these drinkthroughs! Educational, entertaining, and they help get rid of a lot of FOMO for me! Is there potential for a Sagamore drinkthrough? That seems like a fun one with their reserve series.
For giggles I blended the Scorched CR w/ the Arrdbeg, and I think the combo may be better than the sum of its parts; I actually think Scorch is a great thing to add to other things to make them more complex and interesting.
Wow! Seems I have to go for the Corry finally. I got an old 17 and 20something but as collectibles only for those price tags. Thanks for this video and other drink throughs!
Been waiting for this one. Love the Ardbeg. For me they can do no wrong. I don’t even have to have the special stuff. 10 through corrywrecken is fine with me. So good. I would definitely love to have the 19 and the 25 but the 25 is out of my reach. They do get the coolest bottle award with the 25. I saw it in Nashville for $1099.00. I wanted it bad but you know, bills. Great drink though. Thanks guys.
Nice drink through one guys. Would be nice to know which year if possible for each core line ups. I have the second release year of the Ogie and it is very delicious! I will be milking the last one I have as long as I can. Will find special occasion to open Dark Cove CR one of these days. Perhaps, I will get the 19 one of these days. The 25yr doesn't seem to worth the price.
Great taste through! I've got 8 Ardbeg's, all the first 5 but not the 19 or 25 year olds. I've only got the committee releases Scorch and Arrrrrrdbeg but also a Supernova they don't taste. Have to say the Corryvrechan is my favorite.
What an awesome drinkthrough! So cool to see these all tasted side by side. The Corry would have my vote from the core lineup. I finally sprung for a my first one-off release with the Hypernova, would love to see your thoughts on that one if you do get your hands on it. Cheers!
So you're saying the Traigh Bhan is more like a Moog transistor ladder filter while the Corryvreckan is something like the Synthacon VCF. Got it. That actually makes perfect sense.🤣
I'm surprised you guys liked the An Oa so much. I've always felt that it was the most boring offering out of their core lineup, although out of all of the Ardbegs it's probably the closest to a Lagavulin product. If you like Lagavulin, then you'll probably like An Oa. It's just too mild for my tastes. Out of the core lineup, excluding the 19 and 25 since I haven't tried either yet, I think the Corryvreckan is my favorite. Uigeadail used to be my favorite, but as my palate has developed over time, I'm starting to lean more toward the Corryvreckan. I'd probably have to try them side by side to really be sure. Both are excellent. As far as the committee releases go, I've only had Blaaack and Scorch so far. A lot of people really like the Blaaack, but it's not for me. I much preferred the Scorch. I am excited to get around to opening my bottle of Fermutation though. That should be a unique experience.
This Drinkthrough is insane! How did your taste buds and palates survive this? This video is so long I’m going to watch it later tonight while sipping on a dram of Ardbeg Uigeadail. Uigeadail is my favorite Ardbeg pour!
Visited islay in October. And when I toured ardbeg I should have got the 25. It was well under a thousand dollars. But had already bought to much at springbank 🤐
I wonder from y’all’s perspective, with each spirits “highest caliber” and most expensive bottles from each brand, which of those high-ends do you think are worth purchasing for graduations, birth of a child, or even a new job. I guess if I was willing to go all out, what would you personally choose?
Cheers Gents HNY & this drinktrough (tm :) gave me an excuse to do the same & work on a blend,( I'll be happy to post if it works out) I can see why YT might ban a cigar version with your devil may care attitude. But I'm old enough to risk it. With water :)
I am hesitant to buy and try anything Ardbeg makes. I tried the heavy vapors once and that was just horrendous. I was hoping to see it in your lineup to see your reactions.
Guys but Corryvreckan doesn't have sherry influence instead is in the line of the Ten, Uiegadail and An Oa have been maturated in Ex sherry casks. It was kind of weird when you brought that up 🤔. Sorry if i misunderstood. Anyway crazy drinkthrough. Cheers!!
Cool drinkthrough. We're both on the west coast, but the prices you mention are much cheaper than here in WA state. Cory is about $130 plus 20.5% liquor tax and $3 liter tax bringing to almost $160 out the door. With all that tax how do we have a homeless problem in this state?
Usually when I watch these I'm left wondering, "does Dutch's hair look like on purpose?". But today I'm wondering, which one is Vic Flick, and which one is Roy Clark?
i'm not a fan of peat but I did enjoy the ten. I didn't like the Ardcore or the Corryvecken. I might want to try the 5 since it's sweeter than the ten.
You have a 2k budget for a bar to build out, all liquor. Which one’s / how many are you buying? Also liked that 10 minutes into the video that Dutch is saying, you need all of these.
I don't think you necessarily need to buy all of them. At least trying the core range at a bar or friend's place will help you find out which you prefer though, because they all do have distinct differences. Personally, I'd be happy only having Uigeadail and Corryvreckan. I haven't tried either the 19 or 25 though. Grabbing the occasional committee release is always fun too.
I know I am late to the party, but you gents keep saying the 25 is not 4 times better than the 19. Of course not. Everything in life has diminishing returns. The example I like to use is stereo equipment. I can spend $X on a really high quality stereo or I could spend 4 x $X and maybe get 3% to 5% sound improvement. For a small group of enthusiasts that money would be considered well spent. But for most people it seems absurd.
You repeatedly state the Corryvreckan is ex sherry. My understanding is that it’s ex-bourbon and French oak with No sherry.
However the Ugi is ex sherry.
Correct. We goofed big time on that! The Cory is also Burgundy casks.
Not only do I envy the drams you guys were drinking, but I also envy your channel. Such amazing content coming from you guys!
One of my favorite CPU videos. Thank you.
I'm amazed in watching over an hour of Dillion I only heard "Academic Excercise" once, and he didn't say "Stewed Fruit" at all! Great drink through CPU!

Cheers to 2023! Love the channel, this drinkthrough (tm) was awesome! I'd love to see a Balvenie drinkthrough (tm) at some point in 2023! =)
Recently opened a Dark Cove on April 8th for the Eclipse, wonderful dram. Great rundown guys, my thoughts on all these bottles mirror yours #TeamCory

Haven't dipped into the Ardbeg yet. I guess I'll have to try the Cory.
I really love and appreciate these drinkthroughs! Educational, entertaining, and they help get rid of a lot of FOMO for me! Is there potential for a Sagamore drinkthrough? That seems like a fun one with their reserve series.
No plans for it yet, but we'll keep Sagamore in mind!
What an insane and awesome lineup. I appreciate the time and effort you guys put into making this one. Cheers guys!

Great episode guys! Is that really Mr. Delightful's laugh? 31:00
Overall…thank you for this taste through. It’s appreciated guys!
always entertaining [and educational] guys! Cheers
I will take my 3 bottles of Corry from 2013 and forget the rest
This is awesome! Love your opinion on this line up. Makes me really wanna try the 19 year 😮

Now THAT'S a line up! 🔥🥃 🎉
Just picked up Corryvreckan yesterday. But it's $120 everywhere I've been, not $80. $300 for the 19yo.
What an awesome drinkthrough! So cool to see these all tasted side by side. The Corry would have my vote from the core lineup. I finally sprung for a my first one-off release with the Hypernova, would love to see your thoughts on that one if you do get your hands on it. Cheers!

Incredible DrinkThrogh®!
I get the anise type flavors on the an oa on the front and mid as well as the dark fruit and then into that smokey bbq meat on the finish.
Man you guys really punished yourself on this one 😂
Nice job guys as always. My taste profile, believe it or not, is closer to Dillon. Love those Islay scotches.
I'm surprised you guys liked the An Oa so much. Individual opinions are so varied. I haven't seen a lot of great reviews of the An Oa but palettes vary enormously. I adore Ardbeg and some Lags.
This Drinkthrough is insane! How did your taste buds and palates survive this? This video is so long I’m going to watch it later tonight while sipping on a dram of Ardbeg Uigeadail. Uigeadail is my favorite Ardbeg pour!
It is funny to see you guys were getting a bit of drunk after the 25. :)
Loved this one 👍
Visited islay in October. And when I toured ardbeg I should have got the 25. It was well under a thousand dollars. But had already bought to much at springbank 🤐
The 25 year old is $2,300.00 AUD in Melbourne… I’ll take a bakers dozen bottles of “Corry” thanks!!!
It's helpful to get all three palates! Going to get that 19 next.
Damn... that's a whole lotta Ardbeg!
I wonder from y’all’s perspective, with each spirits “highest caliber” and most expensive bottles from each brand, which of those high-ends do you think are worth purchasing for graduations, birth of a child, or even a new job. The Corryvreckan single review vs the drink through very different takes. 😅 Night and day
Would love a review of Heavy Vapors Committee release. I think Dutch and Jules would dig it.
Cheers Gents HNY & this drinktrough (tm :) gave me an excuse to do the same & work on a blend,( I'll be happy to post if it works out) I can see why YT might ban a cigar version with your devil may care attitude. But I'm old enough to risk it. With water :)

June 12, 1987. There has to be something significant about this day. Oh yeah, my last day of 5th grade.
I am hesitant to buy and try anything Ardbeg makes. I tried the heavy vapors once and that was just horrendous. I was hoping to see it in your lineup to see your reactions.
How would you compare all these towards Lagavulin 16 year?
19:20 Exactly why I don't watch other people. Tired of em showing off. Thank you for saying it Dutch

By the end you can clearly tell these guys just went thru 13 bottles.
NAS ardbeg in my country is 80usd and for 10 is like 135usd.. sad
Next up, laphroaig drink through
Lagavulin and Laphroaig need to consider Non-Chill Filtering again. Hopefully Ardbeg continues to do the same as they are doing.
likr bothe ugi and corry but the richness of the coory does it for me
I love oogie because it is a baby dark cove.....about 80-85% of the flavor of dc
What…No Hypernova!!!
Were they drunk the last 5 minutes haha
Why was LORE not included? I demand a REDO!!! lol... Cheers!
I think you’re paying for the mouthfeel.
Mind how u pour.
ARDBEG!!!

Wow 🥃
I'm not trying to be that guy lol. What about the 22 year Ardbeg? It's half the price of the 25 year and double the 19 year.
Would have been interesting to add for sure! It's not part of their core line and wasn't one we had on hand so maybe in the future!
@@CuriosityPublic The drinkthroughs are awesome and are always enjoyable to watch and learn from. You can't have everything. This was impressive.
Wee Beastie is like a field of wild flowers fed honey farm next to a creosote factory.
