Visited last year and became a Laphroaig drinker. Definitely visiting and taking the distillery tour in 2025 provided God preserves me. Fantastic little documentary and much appreciated. This Scots Texan is an Islay whiskey drinker exclusively.
Great documentary of the Islay Distilleries much different than anything I have seen before. You have captured the raw beauty of the landscape and the simple lives of the people on Islay. Thank you for producing and look forward to more whisky producing videos from you all!
Flew over in 2017 with the fam, spent the day on Islay, hired a van and driver, great guy, wife works for the Royal Post, everyone on the island is friendly beyond words, hit a bunch of distilleries before taking the ferry back. Best vacation ever. Highly recommended.
As someone who has always gone for Ardbeg when needing peaty whisky, this has made me want to to get a collection from all the different Islay brands and get a proper taste of the whole island myself. Thank you for the great video.
Islay makes my favorite stuff! Ardbeg, Lagavulin, Laphroaig, Balvenie... all so good. I took a bottle of Kilchoman to a party and a few people asked me pick them up a bottle for next time I saw them. This video just expanded my shopping list for sure
Excellent vid, thank you. Was in Edinburgh, and it never occurred to me to visit this isle. Yes its a quite a trek from where we were... but we traveled from Montana, so what's another klick or 3. Didn't fall in love with the peat till a couple months ago from finding whisk(e)y only 8 months ago..... will go to this land some day. and again, thank you for the vid... very enjoyable...
My grandparents own Torrie’s shop across the road. I didn’t think I would find another Ileach amongst all these American whiskey enthusiasts but there ya go. It’s a small world
We just came back from our trip to Scotland and spent three days in Islay... what a magical place. We were lucky enough to avoid the crowds and long lines seen in parts of your videos... overall, an amazing trip. Great video. :)
Greetings from South Africa, Great video. Thank you so much. That will most definitely be one trip to put on my Bucket List. I started my Islay journey with Coal Ila. I await delivery of my second tasting in the form of Laphroaig 10. Next, who knows ... Bunnahabain maybe ...
Thank you for taking the time to share this wonderful experience with us. I really appreciate your efforts and really loved the narrative throughout the video 🙏👌
This was very enjoyable to watch I do enjoy Blends and single malt I was a big Beer Drinker and now I do enjoy my scotches I enjoy your accents from Scotland I enjoy the educational part I enjoyed looking at the water because I am an active scuba diver at the age of 60. I look forward to visiting that neck of the woods on my bucket list cheers. It's amazing how you can make something taste so good with time thank you for an amazing video
Hello from Singapore! I really enjoyed this.. the interviews with the local distillery staff really made the difference. I'd love to do this same tour one day as well.. thanks again.
I love it, what a nice intro. into Islay and its marvellous malt whisky's. I am planning to visit for five days in the first week of July this year and will do my best to visit all eight plus Jura if time allows. Many thanks JWL
Wish i could 'like' this a hundred times more! Such a good video. I'm already planning my visit after all the lockdowns end. Great info, and beautifully put together. Really good eye and editing for what makes a good documentary. Well done.
was there, magical. Since this video another distillary opened, Ardenhoe, tho still too new to produce much as of this writing. I heard Port Ellen will also be reopening in the coming year or two. Worth allowing time to tour a bit too, very pretty place for hiking and cycling.
Great video! i found it quite amusing though that Islay is famous for peaty whiskies and yet so many of the distilleries said they are unique because their whiskeys have a low or zero peat profile
Laphroaig cask strength needs a dash of water to get the best out of it, and theres the beauty you get to choose which spring water to use. I use mountain water from the Pyrenees that is free but can't be brought.

Fellow Texan (Hook 'em Horns!), but more of a Bruichladdich guy myself.
A wonderful tour of Islay and the distilleries! Thank You!

This video seriously makes me want to plan a trip to Scotland.
You should go! I've been to Scotland twice now and I plan on going back again to see Islay..
Visit? Im from denmark, fuck that.. i wanna move there
Flew over in 2017 with the fam, spent the day on Islay, hired a van and driver, great guy, wife works for the Royal Post, everyone on the island is friendly beyond words, hit a bunch of distilleries before taking the ferry back. Best vacation ever. Highly recommended.

Respectfully inherent some wisdom
I've watched this several times and have learned something new each time!
That was one of the most beautifully put together documentaries I've ever seen. Incredible. Congratulations!

Absolutely loved this. Really good video. 🥃
What an amazing and interesting video. Thank you so much
I'm enjoying my evening dram of Ardbeg 10, and this was a very pleasant add-on to it. Thanks a lot!
What a great video about Islay. It was thorough and insightful about each distillery. Makes me want to go back!
Very well made video, hats-off! Like your unobtrusive style and the way you capture the environment, beautiful as the whiskys...Slainte
Opening a bottle of Laphroaig 10 now as I watch this.
my favorite.....love that flavor
:(
What a wonderful video on Scotch whiskeys. Learned a few things along the way. Just beginning my experience with whiskey.
Excellent, informative video. Islay is now on my bucket list. Thank you.
Enjoyed this wonderfully made movie with a dram of Caol Ila. Certainly enhanced my tasting! Great job!
Brilliant whisky exploration. Lovely videography. Thank you.
What a great video! Thank you.
As someone who has always gone for Ardbeg when needing peaty whisky, this has made me want to to get a collection from all the different Islay brands and get a proper taste of the whole island myself. Thank you for the great video.
If you like Ardbeg, give Port Charlotte Peated 10 a try. It has a similar blend of peat and light sweetness while still being distinct.
Islay makes my favorite stuff! Ardbeg, Lagavulin, Laphroaig, Balvenie... all so good. I took a bottle of Kilchoman to a party and a few people asked me pick them up a bottle for next time I saw them. This video just expanded my shopping list for sure
Balvenie is a Speyside
Bunnahabhaim is good also

Best wishes and kind regards fom Bielefeld / Germany,

Islay's whiskies is my favourite, I'm actually drinking it while watching this video.
My Gran lives on Islay - Funnily enough the video shot of dock in Port Ellen at 1:17, is literally right in front of her house in the seafront xD
My grandparents own Torrie’s shop across the road. I didn’t think I would find another Ileach amongst all these American whiskey enthusiasts but there ya go. It’s a small world
The first 3 are 3 of some of my favorites. Thank you for the upload!
love Islay whisky. Love Jura as well ....LOL! .

What a great discovery. I'm going to watch it again.
As an Ileach/from Islay I have watched a lot of programmes about Islay Whisky and I must say this has been the best.
stormislay how long does it take to go around the island?
@@XerxesGammon200 Boat? Feet? Car?
Surprisingly for me Islay is about three times bigger than Malta. I underestimated this Island.
Such a wonderful video. Makes Islay seem like the best place on earth........oh yes. It probably is.
Great job, Robin!! I want to take a motorcycle trip to Islay and visit all the distilleries.
Very nice little documentary - I learnt a lot. Thanks!

Gloomy is better!
I just assumed the sunny weather was CGI'd in.
It's sunny several times a day. You just have to be ready and quick to shoot.
Very good and concise profiles of Islay distillers.

+Billy Hughes, thank you very much.
Bucket list hopefully one day.
That’s the sunniest I’ve ever seen the Western Isles, you’d need a decent dram after standing in a queue on Islay for any length of time in Winter…..
Thank you for the Journey to the Isles...I learned so much and hope you all keep tasting abd doing RUclips Programs...
Very well made as the fine whiskies made in Islay. I´m drinking Laphroig quarter cask enjoying the scene....

nigeq nope very few said that

Effective video. I now want to visit.
Thank you for this 🙏🏾
Having a Bowmore as I watch
Laphroaig cask strength needs a dash of water to get the best out of it, and theres the beauty you get to choose which spring water to use. I use mountain water from the Pyrenees that is free but can't be brought.
Been to @Talisker distillery, amazing experience that I would recommend to any whisky fan.
