So I'm sitting in a Mexican restaurant on our trip out to Arizona with a killer Tequila menu and I come upon Fortaleza and I'm sitting there racking my brain over why I've heard of this brand... hahahaha Go figure our server backs me up when I ask if this is one I should try. I got the anejo and it was the perfect end to the night. Funny to come back and rewatch this now.
Great video with thoughtful commentary. Love that y'all explore a variety of different types of spirits on the channel. I honestly hadn't really thought of exploring tequila but this has inspired me to
Killer video guys, my collection continues to grow exponentially from watching your walk throughs, especially this one, id love to see a similar walk through of 'tromba' tequila varieties
Not really even distillery only. You can't buy bottles. Sometimes, Guillermo will offer tastes from his stash. It is AMAZING. As good as the 42/43 are, the EA on its own is yet another step above.
Big fan of that, I was able to get the Blanco, the Still Strength, Reposado and the Anejo, for some reason the reposado is my favorite, just hate that became like allocated bourbon and I can’t find them easily anymore
My family tried Jose Cuervo Reserva De La Familia, Fortaleza anejo and Don Julio 1942, we all preferred 1) Fortalez, 2) Jose Cuervo and 3) Don Julio in that order.
@@steveno7058 Really? Cool. My local liquor store only has the Still. Wasn't sure if I should start with that one or try to find a blanco. But all accounts seem to suggest it's a little more complex.
Speaking of Fortaleza rarities.... There was a production in 2018 (or earlier?) that impacted the reposado. To meet contract, Fortaleza released reposados that had been aged only 2 months or 6 1/2 months, not the regular 9 months. Those have stickers on them stating the # of months of aging. It is really interesting to line up samples of the three different reposados and taste the difference just a few months makes!
Awesome video! "Volans" tequila just came into my life, tahona stone crushed and very tasty, keep an eye out for it, it'd be worth a review for you guys
My 2020 Winter's Blend also snapped at the neck but I was able to save about half the bottle. Ran it through a coffee filter, for the glass, and still got to enjoy a little bit. Would be curious how many other bottles have broken from that bottle run
Just bought my first bottle of Fortaleza Respasado today. We only have this variant available in South Africa. I love tequila but I could never find the right one for me. I hope this is the one!
I had the Fortaleza blanco for the first time the other day at a restaurant and it was excellent. Store prices in Chicago are getting out of line. $60-65. For now I'll stick with Arette at $30.
It would be nice if you had these analyzed so you could report on the additives that are in it.That olive oil feel you mentioned is probably glycerine.
Thanks for the informative video and reviewing all the different ones they have. Is this company still in business because I cannot find any of their tequila anywhere in the United States.
I am frantic about Fortaleza, but there is a sour staleness in the 2020 winter blend that just doesn't appeal to me. Maybe from the ale barrel. I preferred the 2019 WB.
Im gonna get a couple bottles when i find some. I like traditional and i like tequila .was trying some mijenta when i seen this video its not bad but i gotta try this.
No negative comments on any of them? Hmm...really? Seems like your analyzing fortaleza with kid gloves. Anyway, that said, for me the anejo is amazing on the nose and palate. I would highly recommend it.
I just got a bottle for my wife for Valentine’s Day. Had to go to several towns and was hard to find for me. I am really excited to try it with her. I am curious though. When I look inside of the bottle at the back of the label it looks patchy. My first thought was someone changed the labels but it’s such a distinct bottle. Is that a thing with fakes or is it just due to the slight wavy nature of the hand blown glass?
@@ceezrrr_g I enjoy them. I found the bottle is handmade so that’s why the label from the back looked different. Was able to find it more and even order from some local bars to taste ones I don’t own. I didn’t like the winter reserve which was nice because it was one I got to try at a bar first. The blanco is nice without burn and some vegetal notes but not overpowering, feels like it is rich and coating on the tongue and cooked agave but well balanced to where it sips amazingly. The repo has been solid as well but my favorite currently is the still strength. It’s not as high on proof as I was expecting but still doesn’t burn, great sipper and just accentuates the flavor profile a few notches.
There is a reason the Anejo is significantly more expensive than the others. it is WAY more flavorful and aromatic than the other types. These reviewers are lame and follish, to say the least.
Which would be the smoothest, and sweetest out of the blanco, reposedo, and anjeo? I like taking shots of tequila and want the smoothest, and sweetest.
There is nothing smooth about tequila. Nothing smooth about Mexico. You want smooth get something with Glycerin added. Your palate is probably not ready for something like Fortaleza.

I'm sorry, you guys are Fortaleza fanboys. It's very good Tequila, but there are better tequilas out there for that price, especially the Reposado and Anejo. Strawberry Starbursts or cinnamon or mint ARE NOT tequila flavors so not what it should be.

Fortaleza is by far my favorite brand but the still strength is my go to. There is something about the flavor that is off the hook

Fortaleza is the best Tequila in the world and 42-A is the best bottle they ever made.
I was lucky to score a case of each 42 & 43a .. it's a tasty blend.
My favorite lineup yet!
