Dutch, Jules, and Dillon, this was truly epic! As a modern day scotch drinker, you just can’t get better than this. This is the “End Game”. I don’t know where y’all go from here but god bless you boys. I am totally mind blown and appreciate what you guys have done here. Salute! Cheers! Slainte! 건배!
As a seasoned whiskey enthusiast and someone who has never seen a bottle of Springbank let alone tried it. kindly offer my services to attend the next tasting and will perform the cleanup roll and slurp the spilled whiskey off the table top. That’s one lucky cloth…
Shhhhhh 🤫 first rule of Springbank is you don’t talk about Springbank……..!
Yes😊 prices goes up everytime someone says Springbank!
That 15 rum wood is one of my favorites
The prices have skyrocketed in Chicago 10 is going for $127… if you can find it. The older bottles are crazy expensive.
So, what I'm hearing is that you guys like Springbank a bit. I've only had the 10 yr., and I loved it.
Really informative & interesting drinkthrough. Says a lot that they all held up alongside each other.
“Is this a local dialect?” is one of the funniest things I have ever heard on RUclips.
Impressive lineup even without the 21 - I've been wondering when y'all would do this video! Definitely need to do bruichladdich at some point.
i'd ask for a Bruichladdich drinkthrough, but i think it would have been more interesting when Mark Reynier was that there. the local barley expression here made me think of their bere barley.
Wild that they try basically the entire Springbank line and nobody picks out any signature funky or savory notes.
Justice for Jules!
Great episode! @28:28... I had to rewind over and over to hear Dillon repeat craftsmanship... certainly an academic endeavour.
I have all these bottles except for the 18. Revisited many times, I rank the 10LB>15>17MADEIRA>12CS>15RUM>10.
This is interesting....Why would you say the 15 is better than the rest (except for 10)?
That cask strength 12y is the batch #21. The only one with 25% burgundy cask, also my favorite 12CS.
Great walk through. Recently started getting into the Campbletowns. Started with the Glen Scotia 15, loved it, and then got the Victoriana. Have been wanting to try the Springbanks. Thinking I’d start with the 15 (only two my local store has is the 15 and 12 cask). Based on your drink through, seems like it’s win win.
Am I the only one to thinking, Holy S#$t! They are doing all the (most of) Springbank! Freaking A!
I can’t believe how little you guys brought up machinery oil or similar notes! To me, that’s one of the unique Springbank markers.
Local Barley is originally £85 vs £52 for the 12 CS approx. US is more like $200 and $120. Secondary prices are out of control on the newest Local Barley. Love the Local Barleys though. And that 15 year Rum was £59 originally!
Thanks for the info!
Local store still has the SB 10 at 65 and very nice pour. Gotta get the 15 year at under 100. Had a sample of the Local Barley 9 year and loved it. Great TasteThrough!!
My financial advisor tells me that it’s cheaper to purchase melon and pepper than a Springbank 21 yeas old whisky. But then there’s a lot my financial adviser doesn’t understand. He, who happens to be a penguin but you will have to be a Dane to make sense of that, knows a lot but understands little.
Great drinkthrough. Always world famous
Epic lineup! Love Springbank. Was lucky to get both the the 17 madeira and 10 local barley 2020 (oloroso) which is a mindblowing pour but now trading for $500-$1000 on the secondary !!!
It's been awhile but I remember Sprinkbank 10 smelling like apples baked over a campfire. I loved just smelling it. They have good video tour of their distillery with Ralfy. I had some 12 yr in Edinburgh and it was excellent.
Kudos gentlemen, great video! Highly entertaining and erudite.
Ardbeg 10
Great stuff guys👍🏻
Someone beat me to it but my beloved Ardbeg 10 46% and their new intro Wee Beastie 47.4% although 5 years. Looking forward to the Ardbeg drink through!
25:21 I love the taste of “caca-nut” in my whisky 🥃 😂 💩
Watching this while smoking a Brick House Maduro Robusto, Then I remembered a couple of you guys smoke sticks. You should do cigar reviews, I think people would enjoy watching that. 🤷♂️🤙
If I’m not mistaken Glenfarclas is still independent
Pacific edge kills Springbank as the importer to the US. Springbanks aren’t expensive in uk and eu.
Great job guys! Curious do you know what year/date the 18 year was bottled? There is definitely variation between bottlings.
"Stude frute"
I need to find this stuff!
Good Morning MY Fellow ALC Sorry Drinkers,
Slight Ca-Ca-Nuts 😂
Best distillery in the entire world
I missed this one when it came out, but I'm a big Springbank fan. I have the 10 and 15 so far. I'm weird in that I prefer the 10 because the 15 has just a bit too much sherry influence for me (although fabulously well done). Gotta get the 18. I think it's more ex-bourbon than ex-sherry, which is my preference.
Just discovered you guys recently, you guys rule
How did you mange to get all of these one year ago? They are impossible to find!
Which one would you say has the most "funk"?
The local barley (if it's the Sherry finish) is one of the best scotches I've ever tried. It's selling for 600 secondary
It is not the latests it is one year ago Optic barley.
What happened to Jules' pairing recommendations?
Instead of "What did Jules buy?" it's "What did Jules try to say?"
Right?! Come on Dutch, gotta make sure Jules gets his .02 in, he brings some interesting and different thoughts to the table.
@@Fred_Gilbert this is an injustice and it shall not stand!
@@macinthergv8910 Are we getting our pitchforks? 😜
I don´t really understand the enthusiasm about the 46% abv. Of course it´s far superior to 40% as the emulsion of ethanol and water reaches it´s sweet spot right there, but is that somehow knowledge exclusively to Springbank? There are so many brands wich don´t sell lower than that, even in their entry level whiskies: Talisker in the first place, they always did. Ledaig, Bunnahabhain, Ardbeg etc. - peat needs alcohol to balance it out, these distilleries know that.
That 18y is 88% bourbon and 12% port. No sherry.
I will pay for that spill picture Dillon took. Will there be an auction?
Got a non-Cuban Cigar pairing for this?
I enjoy Padron 1926 Series No. 1 Maduro quite a bit. It would be an amazing treat to go with the Madeira version or even the 12 year I think. Cheers! -Dillon
I think Ardbeg is 46
Ridiculous lol never let dutch pour the Hibiki 21
Just new to your channel. Does Dillon talk too much?
Fantasy only. Nobody here has ever had anything called Springbank (nor Hazelburn, nor Longrow). It is naught but somebody's delusion. I have only heard others, online, talk about this. I have never seen, touched, nor tasted any of it. It is not available at all. Price is not the issue, having it offered for sale is the issue. It isn't.
Shoulda done this blind.
Springbank is NOTHING like Highland Park, ha ha. You guys are amateurs.
