This is one of the most beautiful and emotional songs in the history of music. It puts a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye every time I hear it. I watched this movie a million times when I was a little kid in the 80's and it brings me back there each time I hear this song.

    We're walking in the air
We're floating in the moonlit sky
The people far below are sleeping as we fly
    I'm holding very tight
I'm riding in the midnight blue
I'm finding I can fly so high above with you
    Far across the world
The villages go by like trees
    The rivers and the hills
    The forest and the streams
    Children gaze open mouth
    Taken by surprise
Nobody down below believes their eyes
    We're surfing in the air
We're swimming in the frozen sky
    We're drifting over icy
    Mountains floating by
Suddenly swooping low on an ocean deep
Arousing of a mighty monster from its sleep
    We're walking in the air
We're floating in the midnight sky
And everyone who sees us greets us as we fly, we're walking in the air, walking in the air

Have you seen The Snowman? If so, what age were you? The Snowman is a beautiful, short animated Christmas film and Symphonic Poem based on Raymond Briggs' 1978 picture book The Snowman. It first aired on December 1982. As a child, I found the movie disturbing. A little boy makes a snowman that comes to life, they have adventures together, and then the snowman melts. “Walking in the Air” is originally sung by a boy soprano as the boy and snowman fly across the sky. The composer, Howard Blake, said he wrote the song when he was going through a difficult period in his life. The song became an instant success and was made famous by the boy soprano, Aled Jones. This solo piano arrangement is composed by Dave Peppiatt. Here is his original performance: ruclips.net/video/MbhvXKLmJJs/видео.html The sheet music is here: www.mediafire.com/file/tiecnvvpkykqddd/Walking_in_the_Air_-_The_Snowman_%2528Piano_Solo%2529.pdf/file

Omg I just clicked on the vid without reading the title and the wave of nostalgia that hit me as soon as that melody came in had the weight of a truck. I have such a vivid recollection of this film, so thanks for making me relive those memories of simpler times :)
Edit: I think I was around 5 or six shen I saw ot first, maybe even younger (I'm still only twenty now and I dont really know anyone else outside of close British family who has also seen the film) l also agree that the film is slightly disturbing in some ways, maybe because of the alien nature of the snowmen or the fact that nobody talks. Still a very sad story, I mostly remember the apprehension I felt from the scenes where the Snowman enters the house and emits pure chaos

    • @Eusebiuspiano
      @Eusebiuspiano  3 года назад +3

@@jossecoupe446 haha! Comments like this are what I live for. YES! LOL.. alien nature of the snowman and pure chaos. I am not British, but my mother went to art school in London and brought back certain "traditions" with her (I guess that would be the word). I wasn't crazy about this movie as a kid because 1. there was no speaking, 2. it was sad and 3. it scared me! Alas, I recently listened to the music and fell on the floor balling my eyes out so I guess it must have left a lasting impression.

@@Eusebiuspiano True on all three points for me as well xD, the idea of being dragged off through the sky by a mute, magical snowman that you've only known for a day during a blizzard was always nervwracking to me (still kinda is). I just rewatched the first ten minutes and the music goes so well with everything and also increases apprehension significantly in stressful scenes, just nostalgia through and through though (also the artstyle can be super comfy)

I also must say that the one clip of this movie that I watched reminded me of a childhood cartoon I watched "Die Sendung mit der Maus". Although this cartoon isn't nearly as effective in evoking emotions, it has that old cartoon look and has no talking. Gave me a hint of nostalgia.
