Hands down the android guy gave one of the best acting performances I have seen in years. In my opinion he should get an Oscar just for that role. He was damn good!
@@agentblackacidwith all gen z actors to boot.. The cringe factor was awful I'm afraid.. I felt it was a repeat as well.. Not many fresh ideas. And repeating those lines from previous alien films is dreadful.. Why, just why even do it.. It smashes the 4th wall imo
This is exactly correct. It was the script that was rough, not the big ideas. It’s actually a brilliant movie when it comes to the ideas presented. It’s the character decisions and dialogue that bog it down sadly.
I also liked Prometheus a lot more than other people, but my favorite thing in the Alien franchise since the original Alien movie wasn't even a movie. it was Alien: Isolation, a video game. It captured the feeling of the movies so well, and it's a shame there likely will never be a sequel.
@@cac1504i as a christian liked the movie because I understand its a scifi movie and i like the alien universe, i felt it was mostly well done. Though now looking back it seemed to mirror the original alien movie pretty closely.

Yup. Which is why I stopped the video at about 1:20 and blocked the channel. Keep that shit shorter or put it at the end! There are channels out that handle that crap a lot better.
Personally I always felt that the real secret of ‘Alien’ was that it was a simple, well-made horror flick that just happened to take place in space. Similar to how the secret to ‘Terminator’ was that it was a simple, well-made horror flick that just happened to have a robot as the killer. The reason these franchises tend to lose their sauce is because adding lore and big ideas, while intriguing, just take away the ambiguity that made its horror factor effective in the first place.
I preferred the Alien when we had no idea what the hell it was. It starts representing a different kind of horror when the sequel adds a queen and a hive structure. It goes from 'what even is this, what does its existence say about what we thought to be true?' to 'holy shit that is a lot of murder-machines, game over man, game over!'. Which is still a valid kind of scary but a lot less interesting to me.
Alien isolation boring I no L take from me right but In aliens you are vulnerable also at times you are powerful I don't want to sneak around all the time maybe some of the game which id fair but for me I want an alien story game more like aliens the second movie but not as bad as the newest release basically fighting hordes with no plot so maybe somewhere in the middle just my opinion I no people be like it was a masterpiece not fore not my cup of meth
I would actually argue that all the big ideas for Alien are actually there in the first film, it’s just that every modern moviegoer seems to want everything spelled out for them.

@@kannon0216 no, I get it. I don't like the ads either. And after that we get such a thin review. Felt like an obligation. "I need to run this ad so maybe I'll talk a bit about Alien: Romulus".
that scene was so underrated. Fantastic temporary counter to the xeno acid blood. And it was properly set up. Fluctuations in gravity were established as a thing they could control. And the restriction on using the pulse rifles to kill the xenos in that specific environment due to it being the lowest level.
It was pretty stupid. Just because there's no gravity does not mean there's no momentum. All the aliens would still have landed in her face after being shot. Instead they magically turn into clouds of blood.
I love how Fede uses intense realism. He's all about props and prosthetics without much CGI for his horror elements. Definitely paved good justice for Evil Dead imo.
For the first time, I can directly attribute a trailer to me going to the theater... That scene with the xenomorph blood in zero-gravity as a character glides towards it is genius. Absolutely diabolical if it pays off in the way I suspect after hearing your review.
Sucker...... That trailer you saw must have been so good it brainwashed you into believing this tripe of an Alien movie was maybe the second worst of the franchise

As long as Romulus gives me the dread of watching Alien: Isolation gameplay, I should have fun with this movie. Hell, the early clips feature cameos by Isolation's wall save points.
@@lesktubeThe rest of the movie was a near carbon copy of Alien 1 though. Without this last part, there would have been zero creativity and personal input aside from the one gravity scene Chris talked about. Just think about it for a bit and you realize it's true. People then would have said the movie is unoriginal and a pure ripoff.
Love that Cailee Spaeny has getting good work these days. I absolutely adore her in Bad Times At The El Royale, Priscilla increased my interest on her talent a lot more so I promise myself I'll watch any movie that she's in. So happy that she's part of the third Knives Out movie cast
Bad Times at the El Royale is such a sleeper hit, imo. Nobody I talk to has seen it and it was such a phenomenally well made movie with a stellar cast.
Spaeny is a good actress, but after Priscilla I can't help to look at her career in a very different light. They just grabbed the shortest and youngest looking actress they could find and paired her with the tallest actor they could find to keep her looking like a child and that is creepy af, I wonder how many roles she is getting just because she looks like a child, I mean we all know how Hollywood is
I didn't dislike Prometheus because it didn't have the xenomorph. What bugged me was the fact that Weyland managed to crew his ship with the most profoundly stupid scientists possible, and the fact that nobody involved in the films production could make up their minds as to whether or not it was an alien movie. Like, clearly.
Yup, and they all travelled to the Engineer's secret weapons facility, that for some reason the Engineers had left them directions to...that film made zero sense.
@@RubenWalsh-iv5ik Nah. Without a word of a lie, the first thing I said to my mate as I walked out of the cinema was 'I feel like I've just watched the last season of Lost' It was only later I found out that Damon Lindelof had employed his random never-fully-explored- ideas gatling gun on both scripts. Just spraying loose-ends and character inconsistencies about like there's no tomorrow. Then it all made sense...the similarities...not the plot...of either.
Just got back from seeing it and I freaking loved it. Fede Alvarez knows what he's doing and it shows in every part of this film. Great disguting kills, beautiful cinematography, you actually want characters to survive and the movie has just enough fan service while finding some new interesting ways to present the xenomorph horror. Definitely go see this in theaters
I absolutely love Prometheus except for the "stupid" things like taking one's helmet off to breathe an alien atmosphere or getting too close to an organism that no one knows about.
I don't think the problem with Prometheus was the lack of Aliens. It was that the ideas were not well thought out, and the characters were unbelievably stupid.
Glad you said it. I enjoyed the movie the most when the scientist characters were being scientists/explorers. There was a degree of wonder and awe but then turned into a goofy slasher film once they started dying.
Yes, this. Exactly this. Hitchcock said that the three most important things to make a good movie are the script, the script, and the script. Prometheus and Covenant didn't get those right.
First of all the film was absolutely BRILLIANT. I recommend everyone who’s a fan of alien and horror and thriller in general to watch… however, I must say, the actor who played Andy was PHENOMENAL… I hope he gets plenty of attention from this. My entire group who I went to watch with at the cinema all said the same thing after we came out and shared our thoughts. His performance was truly incredible. Great film and a much needed win for our beloved alien franchise. It’s definitely one of my new favourites
Ive loved Alien since i was a little kid. This movie had a few good aspects, but ended up being the opposite of subtle with all of the cheap jumpscares and the cheap reuse of iconic lines. Andy made it bearable to watch, and the third act was a breath of fresh air for horror. The rest of the movie was pretty bad in my opinion
Glad to hear someone praising Prometheus! I'm one of the seemingly few who absolutely loved that movie. Its still no match for Alien or Aliens, but still an amazing movie, that adds a LOT to the series. I'm looking forward to Romulus. Cailee Spaeny is turning out to be a great actress - I adored her performances in Devs and Civil War.
Prometheus does have a certain quality, especially aesthetically (despite some of the poorly written characters) imo. That said I found the followup utterly unwatchable though...
I'm so overjoyed to hear all the praise this film has been receiving. The Alien franchise has been in urgent need of a course correction for a long time, and this sounds like this film (like with Prey for the Predator franchise), has delivered that. Can't wait to go see it 🙌
Most people didn't criticize Prometheus just because it lacked a xenomorph. They criticized it because the writing was absolutely horrible. Every human character made the dumbest decision available to them at the time, over and over and over until they were all dead. Many of these people were allegedly scientists intelligent enough to go on what most of them thought might be a first contact mission, a historic moment for humanity, but they acted like 7 year olds.
Prometheus is good 😤 This is dumber and more boring than Prometheus which I like! The scene where they're sneaking past the face huggers... he can have a full conversation without them instantly attacking??? That whole zero G sequence at end so many issues with that. The alien hybrid thing at end fully grown in minutes??? Dumb
@@shinycheeto5779the alien xenomorph maturing quickly was canon since Alien (1979). It happened there, too. Is Romulus perfect? No. But neither were Alien and Aliens. Romulus is much closer to the feel and spirit of those original two than any of the following sequels (Alien 3 though Covenant). My problem withe Prometheus and Covenant is the terrible storytelling. Beautiful films, interesting concepts, but narratively superficial. Dumb and flat characters who have zero character growth or likeability (no one to root for), plot threads that go nowhere (the space jockeys storyline introduced and promptly abandoned in Prometheus, black goo, possible jockey fleet) that amount to nothing (all dead at once in a flashback sequence in Covenant with no narrative investment; none of them must have been anywhere else in the universe for all of them to have been annihilated in a single attack), etc. Even the David storyline makes no sense. Clearly a take in the android storyline from Alien (1979) but with no real focus or direction. David’s dialogue was like listening to a drunk friend’s stream of consciousness. And the advanced and somehow cleaner tech even though prometheus and covenant took place long before Alien broke continuity for me. Sure, one could argue space truckers vs company researchers will have different quality tech. But why would “old” tech (prometheus) still be so much more advanced than “current” tech in Alien/Aliens/Alien3. Romulus understood this, and did it right. As a longtime fan of the franchise (saw Aliens in theaters, played the arcade game in arcades, read the comics in the 90s, etc), I loved Romulus. I did not like the callbacks (“get away from her…”), but the movie itself had a story to tell beyond just another rehash of Alien. It expanded on the world building of the terraformers and miners exploited by WY, who we only briefly saw in Aliens extended scenes. But at its core, Alien is a scifi horror franchise. It does well in that lane. Prometheus and Covenant are to Alien, what Rings of Power is to Lord of the Rings. Superficially similar, but they really tried too hard to a reinvent a wheel that was already close to perfect.
@@von4297 been a fan of the series since I was teenager. Read some of the comics and all that. Prometheus and Covenant were interesting new directions for the series to me. Romulus does nothing new outside of some set pieces. It’s boring and redundant. It’s the most shallow film in the franchise. There’s no story. It’s just scares. If I wanted to relive those old moments then I’d just rewatch the originals. It’s even outdone in the gore department by Scott’s latest entries in the series. So it doesn’t have that going for it either. It’s not an awful movie. The sets and practical effects are good. But i have no desire to rewatch it and i was mostly bored watching it. I just find it funny that people complain about the others being dumb when this one requires same amount of suspension of disbelief than previous entries if not more. It’s literally force awakens for the Alien franchise. I guess I just have to wait for the reevaluation for Prometheus and Covenant like how people used to hate the prequels for Star Wars
Just saw it. My favorite Alien since Aliens, which is high praise. I know a lot of people are making a big deal about the end but I thought it was so weird and batshit that I kind of love the wild swing. 4.3 / 5 stars

IMO, Alien/s had brilliant social commentary. The prequels tried to be bigger, weren't, with Scott essentially painting Blade Runner in Alien colors. I am so so so grateful to hear Romulus isn't a distracted movie. And what sharp proof of brilliance that the fans know what the monsters look like, and it's still completely terrifying.
I don't like how they changed the biology of what was a parasite into 'the thing'. Yes I'm aware of the ox/dog alien of alien 3. But it's still cringe what they did in this movie.

@@NTWoo95the problem is this “toxic positivity” is just covering his ass in case anyone in the industry he aspires to sees it. It’s shallow and stupid: he limits how much of his opinion he shares for fears of insulting someone who is influential. It’s pathetic.
One of the things I really loved about Romulus is that instead of giving us new things to be in awe of, it focused on making something fresh and interesting with what we already had. While I feel that many teams would have just made a flashy new type of xeno and made that the focus, Fede and his team gave us the original xenomorph and expanded on it's behavior and life cycle, which I thought was far more interesting than the neomorph or deacon aliens that we got in Prometheus and Covenant. Another thing I loved about their xeno work, was that they made the xenomorph behave much more in line with what we saw in the original films, which is to say an intelligent and terrifying hunter. In later films they more often than not made the xenomorph act more like an animal or a slasher villain that went straight for the kill every time, no matter the cost. Imo that really took away from one of the things that made the xeno so terrifying, so it was great that they brought back the intelligence. And as for what little new they did add, I felt was well earned as it had multiple set ups that all came together into a satisfying payoff. I've seen a lot of back & forth in the fan base between wanting more of the old and wanting more of the new, so overall I'd say this movie did a great job with giving that to both those kinds of fans, all while giving something that I think anyone unfamiliar with Alien could enjoy.
I think it's because prometheus explores creationism of mankind. Which I find incredibly interesting, but if you consider how many people don't find that mystery to be fascinating, then the film doesn't work for them. Especially when there are so many religious people in the world. For them that question is already "answered"
Im sorry but the people who are saying this movie is bad are all over the age of 40. "Hur dur kids in duh movie" is the primary critique that im seeing. Nobody is elaborating on any of what makes the movie bad and im willing to bet went into the move trying to hate it. No movie is perfect but romulus fits in nicely between alien and aliens, it world builds so much of what life is like under weyland yutani. It ties in prometheus with its mention that the black goo was what the prometheuss mission objective was the whole time. Explained it in a way that makes more sense than bio weapon. Then theres the hybrid, this is somthing we havnt seen before, while the trilobite was in prometheus i think this is so much cooler of a concept than that. The goo completely re writing the child into a human xenomorph is such a neat concept and showcases the terror of the black goo. People will say it does nothing new and then praise prey for being back to basics. This is alien and aliens back to basics. The first act starts out slow playing out like alien, then it ramps up and starts like aliens. This is as back to basics as it gets and you cant change that because those same people are going to rip into the movie for straying to far from the original. TLDR. Dont listen to the boomers that say this movie is bad. Go watch it, read between the lines. Have an open mind. The movie is worth it

Trilogy is complete I've waited over 30 years to this... So this movie actually helps you care for the characters instead of being pumped to watch them die. This is something that has lacked in the series for a long time.
I loved Prometheus, stupid scientists and all, but Covenant REALLY dropped the ball and I'm glad they're moving away from the whole David nonsense to something more simple. Sometimes that's exactly what a franchise needs, like Prey did to Predator and Fede Alvarez is the man this franchise needed. I don't mind if it's just a slasher in space if the filmmakers have fun with the idea, less is more IMO.
Two 3rds of it were good(eye rolling MCUish callbacks aside) However by the ending The movie fails to trust it's titular creature to be a believable threat and goes the Jurassic World and The Predator route and creates a "bigger and badder" new creature to carry the climax, making the xenomorph an extra in it's own film, ignoring the lesson that Alien 3 left us: "to improve the xenomorph don't make a new creature, change the host" How you feel about this movie depends on wether or not you like Prometheus
For me, the fanservice absolutely took me out. I hated every time they stole a line, scene, shot or solution from other Alien movies. Even felt like they left pauses for cheering.
Just saw the movie, and think similarly that it's pretty fun and put the Aliens and characters in some interesting scenes / locations. The main space station oozes Alien Isolation vibes, and the story / characters remind me of the old Alien novel series kind of story telling. Not amazing, but fun, and was definitely better than I thought it was gonna be, n' that alone makes me happy.
Yeah I agree and I've been a long time follower. All his reviews lately have been so surface level. You can tell he doesn't care about reviewing movies anymore and is just doing it to keep his followers around or to sell an Ad. But he clearly doesn't care anymore about that group of his followers. And that's honestly ok. People are allowed to grow and change priorities so I'm not mad at him for it. But we're also allowed to not stick with him once he makes that change and that's what I did earlier this year. I stopped following and this is the first review I've seen of his in a while. I'm happy and sad to see that I made the right decision as his reviews are very watered down now.
ABSOLUTELY the best Alien movie since 1979. Fede bringing back the horror with a PHENOMENAL production. And to think this was going to go to streaming...that makes me sick to think about. This movie DESERVED and is EARNING a theatrical/IMAX/4d release. And it looks GREAT!
It's definitely a mixed bag. They went through all the trouble of bringing the aliens to life in a practical way (they look really great), only to give us a CGI-version of a dead actor (it looks... so bad, and it's in the film quite a bit). Why not just cast some random dude for that role? It didn't need to be what it was. That was very distracting - I hated it. There are two other callbacks - both are lines from previous films, and they are so cheesy and out of place. True fan service would have been to make this film exactly the way it was made, only without word-for-word callbacks and CGI-versions of dead actors. I'm actually fine with the final act. It was bizarre. One reviewer called it bananas - I have to admit that's a good description, but I also have to admit that I quite liked it: it was the one part of the film where I just had no idea where this was going. This could have been great. The callbacks were too distracting - I think they would knock an entire point off of a 5-star review. I'd give this a 3.5 of 5 - maybe even a 3 (some of the characters were weaksauce, and it has a few other flaws). It's worth a watch, but you should expect a mixed bag of a film with a wild final act.
For how much I heard that this movie relied on practical effects I honestly honestly couldn’t find any that didn’t look like terrible CGI aside from maybe the one close-up of the baby alien that had burst out of the chest

Alien 3 is easily the worst of the franchise because of it's endless script changes, directing. Romulus is the best film since Aliens and I think 75% of fans will agree, the characters could have been fleshed out more but people don't want a 2.5 hour horror movie.
Man, my theater experience was perfect! Not only was the movie great, but I saw it in 4D and the crowd I saw it with wasn’t too rowdy and reacted perfectly at the right moments. It was such a fun experience I’ll never forget
Seriously?! The fact that it comes back to horror and don't have any new ideas is a huge plus for me, I don't know if I can survive more of Ridley Scott's "ideas". Fuck that!
The bar has been lowered so much with the Alien franchise movies (like most franchise movies) as they'll make money regardless. Now what passes for a "good" Alien movie is fan service, good set pieces and a lot of jump scares? How about a smart, or interesting, or original story? Instead of jump scares, fleshed out characters so it's actually impactful when something happens to them? None of that was present in Covenant or Prometheus.
Agreed. Romulus is a mediocre movie at best. The pacing is horrible, it feels cut down so a story that was supposed to take place over 36 hours happens in 47 minutes, and the characters (except for one) are bland and underutilzed.
Can we just accept that as much as we love the franchise, its not actually GOOD? Out of seven movies, only Alien and Aliens are considered great by everyone. And next would be this, cause its faithful. Prometheus may be great or garbage depending on who you are asking. Covenant is similar, but had less love than Prometheus. Alien 3 is a mess, and Resurrection... well. So, 7 movies, 2 great ones, 3 "maybe, idk" and 2 bad ones. Thats a shitty record. Adding AVP makes it even worse.
There's only so many ways you can spin-off a horror movie with a relatively simple concept before you have to introduce wild concepts that will never be truly acceptable by all. Alien Theory one made a video of how a potential Alien 3 would've been in which Ripley basically goes to war against Weyland Industries, guns blazing. An original story, yes. Horror? More like action with some horror elements with barely any mention of the Aliens.
Oy!! Hey ….. over here …. I’m a lover of the Prometheus film plot holes and all. The atmosphere, production value, the pacing and a collection of creme de la creme actors who gave very inspired performances. As Chris has said about the movie the Creator, they are so few of these solid well produced Sci Fi (horror included) films that when one comes along we should support It to see more. Name another film that came out ten years before and then another ten years after that shares or replicates the atmosphere, high production qualities and acting with a entirely new lore ?? I couldn’t find any esp in the Sci Fi / Horror arena except Spudnik and a few others and they can’t compare. Prometheus did relatively well at the Box Office and with critics, the problem came with Alien Covenant when it’s reputed the powers that be wanted to hasten the appearance of the Xenomorph to capture a segment of “fans” who lamented about its absence and as uneven as that was it still is a unicorn amongst cinematic horses
Saw it today. First act is great, everything after that depends into madness with a terrible final act. Walked out so disappointed and angry about what promised to be a great movie.
I just watched it. It was visually excellent, did a lot of new and weird things which I appreciated but 3/4 way through it hit me this wasnt really another entry in the series like the others were. Even prequels or sequels, this felt like a side story, like Rogue One in Star Wars. Great in its own right but this one didn’t build toward any next entries. Like Covenant tried to continue some things from Prometheus, this one acknowledged the earlier films but it was just a side story.
Spot on w rogue one vibes. I didn’t expect to get blown away w this but was hoping for a narrative that may evolve rather than dead ending. Biggest flaw was that cgi moment. oof lol
Same here. I rewatched Covenant maybe 6 months ago and it jumped up for me. Sometimes it takes several times seeing something to truly form an opinion on it. After seeing this new one a few hours ago, it’s a “meh” for me.
Great little review, and I agree fully! I enjoyed the call back to Prometheus in the movie, I wasn't expecting that. Also absolutely loved Rain and Andy, they were both portrayed so well and it was a heartfelt relationship. I really need to see this again soon.

The concept of Alien is also perfect for horror, just look at Alien Isolation.

Would love a Dead Space movie someday by a competent studio.

This movie wasn’t very good. You’ll be disappointed. Trust me.

This is dumber and more boring than Prometheus which I like!

Play Alien: Isolation if you haven’t.
Prometheus is one of the most atmospheric and imposing films ever made I will never understand why it wasn’t well received
Because the scientists in Prometheus make the astronauts in Armageddon look like geniuses

I think it's because prometheus explores creationism of mankind.

Guarantee you everyone complaining is gen-x or older, they want Sigourney Weaver despite her being 5 years from a nursing home.
It is kinda dishonest to say it’s an age-related issue. Some critics over 40 liked it and some critics under 40 didn’t. Heck I’m 28 and I’m not entirely sure how I feel about it.
@oddtherapy8919 the majority of people I see criticizing the movie are old gen xers complaining about the young cast and missing the entire point of several scenes

Some channels are, ironically, trying to make money by crapping on Chris for not saing anything negative about films anymore (really, they're just jealous of his success and that he's managed to make his own film), but this review is very fair. If you like this, you will like that, and if you don't like this, you won't like that. What is wrong with this kind of review, really?
Saying it was the biggest fan made movie ever is very accurate. I didn't like it, it looked good though, but there was so much wrong with it, tried to be jack of all trades and mastered nothing.
I enjoyed it. It was thrilling
@ 1:42 - Doesn't care about the sponsors and just wants the review portion of a movie review video.
Exactly
Thats why i tapped the screen to fast forward. I do it everytime before he goes in sponsor mode

Never have I heard someone review a movie, whether they like it or not, with so little enthusiasm that makes my grandma call the Emoji Movie silly fun is more expressive than Stuckman here. C'mon man, where's the drive? Where's that Real critique at?
Yeah it honestly was a let down buddy. I was not feeling any enthusiasm after. It was like hmmmm I was feeling good and then it was come on guys really that’s how we land this? Walked out more pissed thinking we could write better or scratch your head. Oh well cheers
@@AdamMiller-r5osame this severely underwhelmed me. Felt like it was full of missed opportunities and way overbloated with nostalgia bait and straight up scene for scene ripping ala The Force Awakens levels of lazy rehashing.

Trilogy is complete I've waited over 30 years to this... So this movie actually helps you care for the characters instead of being pumped to watch them die. This is something that has lacked in the series for a long time.
Trilogy? Oh come on Alien 3 was good. Not the best of them all but much better than recent movies.
@MR3DDev I think they're all great, but that's me.

@@T--kq3pj um OK, off you trot somewhere else then? Lol
@@Jonathan_Collins Chris grew up with Alien Romulus
Whoever edited the trailer needs an award. Best trailer I've seen in a while.
Well Prometheus and Covenant take place before Alien. Romulus takes place between Alien and Aliens. So Romulus didn’t have to be deep like Prometheus
This movie was goddamn beautiful. Highly engrossing world-building and fantastic scares and practical effects. Just the perfect not-Alien Alien movie.
Could had have better character depth. Less is more. Ie Ripley outliving her daughter and finding Newt.
Two 3rds of it were good(eye rolling MCUish callbacks aside)
However by the ending
The movie fails to trust it's titular creature to be a believable threat and goes the Jurassic World and The Predator route and creates a "bigger and badder" new creature to carry the climax, making the xenomorph an extra in it's own film, ignoring the lesson that Alien 3 left us: "to improve the xenomorph don't make a new creature, change the host"
How you feel about this movie depends on wether or not you like Prometheus
I love prometheus
I wish they would make "the engineers" film talking about their world & backstory.
If this is a hit, and its ties to P and C cannot be ignored, that might very well happen. Let Chris Nolan or Denis Villeneuve deal with it.
They did called Prometheus
There’s no such thing as a new idea, yet Mr. Alvarez knew what worked and made something great. Also the set designs >
The shots of space are great
HOLY CRAP THE ANTI GRAV SCENE WAS EPIC😂😂😂 Just saw it tonight and I agree very DEAD SPACE 😅
Its feel like Alien from 1979 and game Alien Isolation mix. Analog switches, sound and music from all frenchise. Its pearl of our time this year.
For me, the fanservice absolutely took me out. I hated every time they stole a line, scene, shot or solution from other Alien movies. Even felt like they left pauses for cheering.
Couldn't agree more. They reminded me I should watch those instead.
I didn’t get your review, have the balls to give an opinion. I liked it much better when you actually gave one.
Chris doesn't do that anymore. You used to be able to tell his opinion on the thumbnails alone.
Still a better review than when he reviewed Trap.
He doesn’t want the director to hear if he didn’t like it so that he can continue being a movie director.
@@cnlsflawless He actually did give his opinion on this movie. Unlike Trap.
The problem with Prometheus wasn’t the lack of xenomorohs. It was the lack of a coherent plot or interesting characters.
Also blatant contradiction of lore from the first two movies.

..... Prometheus was damn good. Brilliant.
I really liked Prometheus too!
I think it was legit the best one, best story too. Engineers are rly interesting, while yes the Aliens are cool but theyre just mindless animals.
And the film aged very well
ABSOLUTELY the best Alien movie since 1979. Fede bringing back the horror with a PHENOMENAL production. And to think this was going to go to streaming...that makes me sick to think about. This movie DESERVED and is EARNING a theatrical/IMAX/4d release. And it looks GREAT!
Also one of the few people who liked Prometheus here
It's definitely a mixed bag.
I hated the callbacks especially the Alien resurrection one at the end it made no sense if you watched prometheus, this movie was a nostalgic mess
For how much I heard that this movie relied on practical effects I honestly honestly couldn’t find any that didn’t look like terrible CGI aside from maybe the one close-up of the baby alien that had burst out of the chest
Is it really gory? Seeing Alvarez directing I was really hoping that at the very least the movie is just a bloodbath and has gruesome on screen kills
@@YUNGXR1ST Alien Resurrection is gorier. Maybe Alien3 is gorier, idk - it's not over-the-top with the gore, really, I don't think - not a bloodbath like Alvarez's Evil Dead. There are some yeesh moments, for sure.
It's not a bad watch - I'll probably watch it again. There are just some big flaws, imo
@@tosweetdelight saw it last night; I overall really liked it; the characters weren’t super stupid in decision making which was nice. But ya the gore is disappointing. Especially since various articles stated that the cast and crew hyped it up constantly to be extremely brutal and everything on screen which just wasn’t the case. It’s got flaws for sure but it was a solid installment. Didn’t satisfy my “movie bloodlust” at all though; it had so many perfect chances to do so. Is that messed up?😂.
really enjoyed it. saw it with a big crowd, everyone gasped and laughed and clapped together. Everyone is gonna love how much it harkens back to the original, and to an extend Aliens, but I for one was surprised and pleased with the references to Resurrection and Prometheus/Covenant that they managed to sneak it. Hope it's a good success for Disney because I would like to get another one in 3-4 years.
It was the thing remake level bad
"3:00", "you are doing the same old thing all over again". True, but that is what many fans have been waiting for decades. A true original Alien movie. Saared people in a closed and dark environment. Not trying to reveal big stories around why/how/who/what/when/etc. Just somre guys stuck somewhere with "the best" and true talented director to make the suspens grow at the proper pace. Romulus is good, so good.
General audience/fans are comprised of some of the dumbest ppl to walk this planet; if I was Ridley Scott I would’ve told anyone crying about Prometheus to go get a fucking job
Isn't "doing the same old thing over again" the opposite of "original" ?
For a man who also has a love for Alien & Dead space pretty much just SIFI horror. I was a little bummed when you said it doesn’t entertain big ideas like Prometheus… but then you compared it to Dead Space and now I’m sold on it. 👍🏻😂
Sci-fi* 🤦🤦🤦
Loved it, especially the way it tied all the previous films together.
That third act has me feeling like I was a little too hard on Alien: Resurrection I’m ngl 😂
At least it didn't look like a penis with googly eyes.

Just saw it. The CGI was downright pathetic, but the movie was so good that I let it go right away. I had a panic attack during one scene. It was a really good time.
What scene?
Which cgi shot in particular?
Nah, the CGI was perfect. The only time the CGI faltered was with the cameo from Rook.
Nothing wrong with the rest of the CGI.

I’m only saying this because people keep saying they copied Resurrection but really that’s what happens when you inject the black goo it happened in Prometheus they didn’t copy Resurrection.
Alien 3 is easily the worst of the franchise because of it's endless script changes, directing.
Romulus is the best film since Aliens and I think 75% of fans will agree, the characters could have been fleshed out more but people don't want a 2.5 hour horror movie.

Seriously?! The fact that it comes back to horror and don't have any new ideas is a huge plus for me, I don't know if I can survive more of Ridley Scott's "ideas". Fuck that!
YEA!!
Yeah the franchise up until Prometheus were never about big ideas it was fine without

Prometheus was far better than those three.

Cool there's a something resembling a review at the end of this commercial
I really enjoyed the opening of the film with the old school 70’s vibe. That was a nice touch.
Went as a group of 8 friends all of us fans of the franchise and we all loved it
The bar has been lowered so much with the Alien franchise movies (like most franchise movies) as they'll make money regardless.
@@Benjamin-xv9lethat just not true, the explosion of the Romulus turned 36 hours into 50 minutes idk how you didn’t catch that.
Just be glad it isn't as bad as the way jurassic park was strip mined for shekels. I'll go as far as to say they raped jurassic park for cash grabs.
Chris “I’ve never met a movie franchise I didn’t like” Stuckman
Films become franchises because they resonate with people.
Biggest flaw was that cgi moment. oof lol
