We all know that Andre' Rieu and his orchestra are top notch. However, I'd like to put the emphasis to the hauntingly beautyful vocals of, (in my opinion very underated singer) the Australian/Dutch soprano Mirusia Louwerse. Andre calls her "the angel of Australia", I would say; she's the best example of a siren. With a voice like that, she'd capture a man's soul instantly. In Greek mythology, sirens were humanlike beings with alluring voices. And that's excactly how I would describe Mirusia's vocals.
I don't know if the word "underrated" rightly applies to Mirusia. I have heard that she is the most "in demand" soprano in the world. So obviously you and I are far from alone in appreciating the wonders of her siren voice!
@@Ribbonium That's excactly what I'm saying! Mirussia deserves to be so much more, and not only in the opera world. That voice needs to be heard all over the musical spectrum, from rock to opera and everything in between. We need to stop placing voices into boxes or musical genres.

I discovered this song last night while I was watching one of Sir Rieu Christmas shows. It's so magical, romantic, cinematography and beyond emotional. I love it. Thank you Sir Rieu & musicians! Thank you beautiful ladies, your voices are blessed and resemble the angels 😍. And the ballerina… thank you as well ballerina! She’s such a princess and angel! I love her! I want a daughter like her. Such a lovely dancing! Her parents must be emotional & proud!
I discovered this after watching The Snowman live show on youtube. I first watched The Snowman back in 1987, but as an American I had no idea how beloved the book was outside the states. It's never given the love in America as the Frosty the Snowman animated special is, but The Snowman easily outclasses it.
Watch the original The Snowman 1982. If you look for it on RUclips you can watch the entire video. It is a children's book but, it was brought to life in video form. It's truly visually brilliant and moving.

Watching anything Andre Rieu makes me so proud of my heritage. My mom was Dutch. His concerts are fabulous. People get up and start dancing, or they lock elbows and sway back and forth. It looks like so much fun! Although I'm a "Rocker" at heart (I do like the hard stuff), there is NOTHING like an Andre Rieu concert to make me smile and feel good. It puts me in a great mood all day. What a talent he and his performers are. Thanks for sharing this piece. It's one of my favorites, I watch it all year.
Did he originally make this song or was it someone else? I know it was from the snowman because it was made in 1982 1 year before I was born and Ive watched it every xmas since (skipping many years between my childhood and now becoming a dad.) But just wonering who originally performed this song

Every time I watch this my eyes tear up..my youngest daughter was born 100 percent hearing impaired..She would dance as a ballerina to the vibration of the music.When she was six years old after multiple surgeries she received the gift of heating..she's a grown woman now and she still loves music and she still loves ballet

The Louisville chorus is lovely as is the Celtic Women's version, but this one reigns in my view. Mirusia is the best soprano.
Nightwish did a great job covering this beautifull song more than 20 years ago. Now it got a Dutch flavor as well. Dank je, André......prachtig mooi.

Every time I watch this my eyes tear up..my youngest daughter was born 100 percent hearing impaired..She would dance as a ballerina to the vibration of the music.When she was six years old after multiple surgeries she received the gift of heating..she's a grown woman now and she still loves music and she still loves ballet
