    2. No items in battle*
    3. No glitches or exploits*
    4. No Double-Team TM before level 100*
    Other rules:
    -- *Pokeballs & Pokedolls are allowed in battle
    -- *The badge-boost glitch is not restricted at all
    -- *Skipping the Rocket Hideout & Marowak is allowed

    -- Skipping the bike is not allowed
    -- Saving between league members is allowed
    -- If the solo Pokemon faints and I choose to blackout it counts towards my reset counter
    *Double-Team:
    -- Almost every Pokemon can learn Double-Team through TM

    -- Using it would centralize the meta

    -- It triggers the badge boost
    -- Banning the TM allows Pokemon who learn it through level up to use it
    -- I believe evasion is part of Pokemon and shouldn't be banned entirely
    -- I don't want the videos to all be double-team spam though, that's not fun or entertaining
    -- Only two Pokemon learn Double-Team through level up: Pikachu & Scyther
    -- Minimize is the other evasion raising move, these Pokemon learn it through level up:

    Weedle is essentially impossible without in-battle save states, I'm pretty sure. I mean like using Poison Sting against all of Agatha's Poison-types. You basically need to crit every single hit and them get 1/256 misses regularly. Even then, you might be pushing it with PP. 5 Pokemon, 2 of which are 4x resistant to Poison moves, the other 3 are 2x resistant. 56 PP when maxed out. Gotta take each Pokemon out in ~10 Poison Stings average. It's absolute statistical insanity.

      There is a german guy (ruclips.net/video/GFePogmypaw/видео.html ) who finished red with weedle - but he says it took him several days to beat each, Agatha (1 PP left) and Lorelei. So yes, I think insanity is the correct word.

    33 attempts. (Not too far off!)
    Abra is quite an interesting Pokemon, I recalled back in the day that the TCG gave Abra Psyshock (nearly 10 years before it showed up in the game). I was always surprised how powerful it could be and Gen 2 really let it shine.

    You want seismic toss vs Zam and Exegg, although I see why it was tempting to burn that TM in the early game. I'll admit I didn't expect to see toxic here. It does work well with rest. However, you may have been able to squeeze by at a lower level with psychic, seismic toss, rest and toxic. You may want to rethink mimic strats or even rest on squishy mons like Abra because they can't risk setting up and don't stall well. Although it might be funny to have a swords dancing Abra. Another possibility here is actually mimicking leech seed which would boost your stall much more than toxic, allowing you to KO faster with seismic toss.
    Also I have no clue why you'd pick fire punch over barrier. Psychic, ice punch, thunderpunch and barrier would've carried you all the way through the champion. It's why I had this jank moveset on my Mewtwo in Gen 4 with charge beam, icy wind, psychic and drain punch lol.

    I would like to see similar to be done with other Pokémon but I started to realize it wouldn't work as nicely with others. Like Caterpie, Kakuna nor Magikarp won't benefit from the generational shift at all, and legendary birds would make sense only for giving something to play with before they start to learn level up moves.

    It's funny that you mention that Abra is immune to "ghost attacks." You are correct, but you'd be more correct to say "Ghost attack" as there is only 1 in the whole game- lick- and it sucks anyways haha

    • @HomeCookinMTG
      @HomeCookinMTG 2 года назад +2

      What's funny is even though lick is trash if ghost moves were coded correctly in gen 1 it still would have been a problem for him, after all of the boosts from same type attack bonus and being super effective it puts it at a 60 power move, which would be hitting abra's abysmal defense stat.

    I think the best way of giving Abra a useable move early on is to change when you receive Psywave. It can never do more than 1.5 times your hp in damage (and usually significantly less) so it would only ever be as overpowered as you are. It would also be a much more appropriate time to receeive it than as a reward for defeating Sabrina.

    • @veghesther3204
      @veghesther3204 2 года назад

      Psywave sucks in every every pokemon game.

    • @iantaakalla8180

      Maybe it can be a Level 100 move to represent that it’s a move not worth grinding for but if you were you would have something that is slightly more likely to do significant damage because of it having the potential to do 1.5x your health.

    • @veghesther3204

    I would like to see your take on a “developer intended” or “developer aided” run. It seems all early gen gyms have a Pokémon to be caught just prior or around that is super effective. The challenge I guess would be to find them all and the elite four team can be any of the ones used in the gyms ( pick of 8) examples are mankey in firered, or nidoran male in gen 1 for the first badge, oldish or bell sprout for gym 2, digger for 3 etc.

    • @ScottsThoughtsPokemon
      @ScottsThoughtsPokemon  2 года назад

      Yeah, I’ve thought about this actually!

    • @Zorafin
      @Zorafin Год назад

      Nidoran male learns Double Kick in gen 1 at level...43. But in Yellow that's changed to 12. Definitely a way for them to apologize for having so many bad pokemon choices for Brock. But they also let you catch a Mankey there so that's probably the better short term choice. Unless you want a Nidoking in your party long term, of course.
      I've always been annoyed at your lack of options against Brock. Honestly the best choice is to just catch nothing and use nothing but your starter. Even if you chose Charmander, since Ember actually does more damage to them than you take. Plus you can get a Charmeleon just by taking out the trainers on your way to Brock, and that will let you overpower him with ease.
      Funnily enough he's the only trainer with that problem. Misty you can catch a Bellsprout or Oddish, Surge has Diglet or Sandshrew if you haven't leveled up a Geodude, and then the game opens up and you can really customize your team for the rest of the game. Probably even catch a Tauros before Erika.

    Tip for when Ditto happens. If a transformed Ditto levels up in Gen III, it regains its normal stats in place of whatever Pokémon it copied. I’m pretty sure that if Gen III had this glitch, then Gen I likely has it too.

    I had no idea about that additional trainer in yellow, or how to acquire these pokéballs. I have a feint memory of knowing these pokéballs existed, but I figured I remembered another generation. That's interesting
    Also - one thing I'm wondering about: Training against the Diglett trainer: Would it potentially be beneficial, to not entirely deplete all Teleports - have like 2-3 left, once you have Abra at a higher level. So you defeat Diglett, but take a bit more damage from it because you have to use turns using Teleport in the trainer battle, then defeat it, but are more likely to feint from the Sandshrew anyways, since you took more damage from Diglett?
    Edit: My statement is horrible. I mean, intentionally taking more damage in that fight, in order to extend the diglett grind
    Edit: I bet Kadabra would be faster, purely on the basis of not having to cancel the evolution every other battle
    Edit 2: I feel like you should never use all your bunny to buy potions
