  • The Demibot was loved by pilots for its unique design, and beefy frame construction. The Grinderino on the other hand is a bit lighter, and focuses more on freestyle characteristics. This makes it the perfect candidate for a Sub250 gram digital quad, and today we’ll be doing just that.

    Nice job...you are killing it!!! One question, how do your 3-3.5" quads hold up vs 5" as far as durability goes?

    • @OneManUnmanned
      @OneManUnmanned  9 месяцев назад

      Good question…My 3.5” holds up just fine, maybe even better due to less mass hitting the ground during a crash. I do get a lot of bent props though. Thanks!

    I’m building mine literally as I’m watching this… and then I have spare T-motor P1604’s that I was going to use… and then when you said about the 9x9 pattern I thought… no it definitely fits…
    Yeah it doesn’t so I guess I won’t be finishing that build this weekend 😂

    • @OneManUnmanned
      @OneManUnmanned  9 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah, I was surprised as well since all my other 3.5” drones have 9x9. Even most motors advertised for 3.5 builds are 9x9. It’s all good, and why I mentioned it in the video. Hopefully others can learn from my mistake. Thanks, Bro!

      @@OneManUnmanned yeah there's a couple of oddities with the frame, I'm building with an O3 system so I've had to mount the AIO backwards to fit a cap in there... but I'll put this all in a video when the new motors arrive (in 3 weeks 😫)

    I really want to build one too. Been watching for the frame to come back into stock. I pre-ordered the Demibot frame so I can build my first 5 inch freestyle drone with it. I also pre-ordered the new HDZero V2 freestyle VTX to go with it.

    • @OneManUnmanned
      @OneManUnmanned  9 месяцев назад +2

      Yeah, these frames are hard to get..I actually missed the 1st batch. The new 1-watt VTX looks very promising. Unfortunately, I did not get one in time for this build, but I do think it would compliment this drone nicely.

    Have one myself...posted it on my channel...tried to use the lite radio 2 se and come to find out...i cant at all now ...i bricked it trying to update it to from 2.0.1 to 3.0 or above.
    Now gotta wait on a TX... preferably a multiprotocol...had no idea that elrs was so tedious...all for the sake of bypassing the old school bind method?
    And having to have matching firmwares?
    I mean wth???

    • @OneManUnmanned
      @OneManUnmanned  7 месяцев назад

      ELRS is not the easiest thing to work with. I normally just get on the major firmware and just stay on it. Another option was to downgrade the RX firmware to 2.x to match your radio/TX.

    I'd go for tmotor 1804 with 5mm prop mount. Gemfan 3630.
    But damn the grinderino wasnt meant to be sub250g.

    • @OneManUnmanned
      @OneManUnmanned  9 месяцев назад

      I get what you mean, but that’s like saying a tiny whoop should not weigh less than “x” grams(pilots always push those drones to the limit when it comes to weight). If it’s going to be above 250, I might as well get a larger quad or maybe just stay with the Demibot. Thanks Chris.

      @@OneManUnmanned just to share my experience: a light sub250g 3" or 3.5" or even 4" is always such a big compromise.
      You need the frame, motors, FC, ESC AIO etc to all be very light. So then you need either a more durable frame and save on the digital vtx. Then you might want more powerful motors, but the battery and flight time is very little.
      You know after many builds over the years, I do actually prefer something smaller and lighter. Especially with the new O3 onboard recordings.
      Personally, I settled on a 4". You can take it anywere in your backpack. It is not too loud. Power is equivalent to a typical 5".
      The only downside it is hard to get a good 4" frame off the shelf.
      My build specs:
      Amax f4mini frame
      Dji o3 with tpu printed mount.
      Amax 2005 2000kv motors.
      Speedybee mini stack
      Gnb 650mah 6s lipo.
      Dry weight 240g.
      AUW 360g.
      Top speed above 180kph.
      Hq 4x3x3 props.
      The new iflight f4 is awesome, but too heavy for me

      Built a pirat lil matey hdzero sub 250g with 1604 motors and 750 4s pack. I get about 3 to 4 min flight time. Little guy flies amazing. However, sub250 is like velcro on trees. As much as I like it, I rarely need to climb a tree to retrieve my 5". I keep the sub250 for backyard flying. FIY, those 1804s are not that durable with that 5mm shaft. The inner shaft is only 2mm. Better off going t mount, or fpvcycle 16mm. They have a full 3mm shaft all the way through. At least according to the description. I find light quads to be very durable. The problem is the durability of the small motors.

    • @chrisbee5481
      @chrisbee5481 9 месяцев назад

      @@michaelwilson3946 Then move up to 2004 motors for durable 3mm immer shaft.

    • @michaelwilson3946
      @michaelwilson3946 9 месяцев назад

      @chrisbee5481 another decent option. Everything has a it's pros and cons. Too large of a bell on a small prop can interfere with the props' ability to efficiently make the thrust. All that being said, I have used 2105s on an apex 4".
