    I love how instead of pouring it out onto cookie sheets, and breaking it up with a butter knife like my Mom did. You use a mat and a pizza cutter!!! Very smart and a lot less waste.

      Thanks Kelly. Merry Christmas. I hope you have a blessed holiday. Making this candy reminds me so much of your mom and takes me back to the magic of Christmas.

    I'm thrilled to find your video and recipe! My grandmother used to make this lovely rock candy at Christmas time, and though there are other recipe videos out there, this one is the most helpful and precise. I also love the idea of using a pizza cutter to score the candy .Thank you!

      @@thekitchenprescription1821I''ve just finished making my first batch and it turned out perfect! I scored the candy with my pizza cutter as you suggested and it broke apart in perfect little squares. ❤ I would say you definitely need a good candy thermometer-- but using mine and following your directions, it's a foolproof recipe. Thanks again-- can't wait to gift this candy to family!

      @@astridexplorer5096 I’m so thrilled you enjoyed the recipe. It can be tricky for sure but with enough repetition it really becomes easier each time. I always use my candy thermometer and (knock on wood) haven’t had a bad batch yet. It’s such a nostalgic candy to make for Christmas and share with family and friends. Thank you for reporting your experience and results back with the recipe. I appreciate your support of the channel.

    will this work using Splenda for the sugar ?

    • @thekitchenprescription1821
      @thekitchenprescription1821  22 дня назад +1

      I've never tested the recipe using Splenda so I'm sorry but I can't answer your question. You can maybe try a small batch and see if it works. If so, come back and let us know, you might be able to help someone else out who has the same question. Thank you for watching and commenting.

      Michelle, I pour my candy onto silicone in the video, so yes silicone molds will work but make sure they are silicone. The hot candy will melt plastic for sure! Hope that helps and thanks for watching the channel.

      Yes.Molds are another great idea. They just need to make sure the molds are silicone so they won’t melt.

      Hi Brittany. It depends if you're using an oil or flavoring. The oils are much stronger. I explained that all in the description and you can visit my website for the full recipe. ruclips.net/user/redirect?event=video_description&redir_token=QUFFLUhqbkFwSjJHMXZKdWR0dm5ZTWs1YThkQ0ZEdWRFQXxBQ3Jtc0trMHZQSTdQaE1BbkpDdFZFa09yLTIzZENjRUNZU29adVFqeXFvRXAtLTBsUjV0RjQ0NUIzcDV3bEI1R2hPR3BLVWh1TjhKeXZUWnNNOUJlMURSSmxKcUNGOGJ2SkxWbzBRNHN3NlllTWdwVlRua2haSQ&q=https%3A%2F%2Fthekitchenprescription.com%2F2014%2F12%2F14%2Fhow-to-make-hard-tack-candy%2F&v=Z5rU4xzXjFQ

    Why does my candy start turn golden while cooking. It happens at around 160* and I have it on low heat?

    • @thekitchenprescription1821
      @thekitchenprescription1821  Год назад +2

      Hi Diane. It's hard for me to answer that question with accuracy without know more details. Are you talking 160 Celcius or Farenheight? Are you using organic or granulated sugar. Is the sugar fairly fresh or old? When you melt sugar it often turns a golden color due to the impurities in the sugar.
      I found a really good article on some the reasons and I'm leaving the link for anyone's reference. I hope this helps.

    Why would you make a cartoon out of this serious business where children can be burned?

    • @thekitchenprescription1821
      @thekitchenprescription1821  3 месяца назад

      You might be wound a bit too tight. I literally made some elf cartoon entertainment sharing a recipe and a negative person( ie you) always comes to ruin the day. I stated in the video it’s not for kids and extremely hot and dangerous. I’m not responsible for what parents let their children do. Your negativity and rudeness is not welcome here. Do it again and you’re blocked.
