      That’s music to this nurse’s ears!! Woohoo!! I’m going to make some for Valentine’s Day presents. Strawberry and Cinnamon in separate containers to gift because some love a more mild flavor instead of the cinnamon. Using pink food coloring instead of red for Strawberry.
      You’ve made my day!! ❤️ Thank you so much!!

    Have you ever tried using a silicone candy mold for this recipe? Just curious if that would work ?

    • @michellessouthernhomecooki5870
      @michellessouthernhomecooki5870  6 месяцев назад +1

      I have thought about it and I have one actually but I haven’t tried it as this is the traditional way it’s made around here and you’d have to have a lot of those molds. I’ve got just one or two small ones I use for cream cheese butter mints. But yes, I’ve thought about it. You can use this same recipe for molded suckers too so I think it would work but I don’t have a sucker mold nor the sticks. Google Lorann Oils recipes and there’s pictures of things and a sucker bouquet is shown. Thank you so much for commenting and I wish you a great weekend!! Please come back and visit. I’m actually making the cream cheese and butter mints recipe today. 😃💕

      I wish you much success. I live in an area where we’re just a little bit above sea level in the coastal, eastern part of North Carolina and someone tried this. I think that was in a higher altitude like the mountain areas. I don’t know exactly, but there is an adjustment for altitude, evidently that I wasn’t aware of. I hope and pray this turns out for you and you enjoy this recipe for many years to come. Have a wonderful holiday season! Thank you so much for watching. 🎄❤️🎁

    Holy moly, you ain't lying about don't breathe this cinnamon 😂 I am suffering from asthma so I put a N95 mask on and glasses but neither of those stopped anything 😭 this cinnamon is not playing around so everyone has evacuated the house 😂 recipe was perfect to follow! Can't wait to go back in and see how it taste! lol! Question can it be made in a stainless steel pot? or does it have to be nonstick?

      Honestly I’ve never tried in that kind of a pot as I don’t have one but I don’t see why not. Just put the pot in water after it cools and it will melt the left over candy in the pot. Try it and see. Please let me know how you like the candy. I love lemon as well. ❤️🌸😃

      It must have been old oil?? I honestly don’t know. I’d contact Lorann I’ve never had that problem. Oh my. The cinnamon is so intense for me. I’m getting ready to make batches for Valentine’s Day presents. I looked up their customer service number for you. That is really odd.
      Lorann Customer Service 800-862-8620
      Please let me know what they say. Perhaps the batch didn’t get enough strength during processing. I’m glad the actual structure of the candy turned out for you though. That’s a bummer about the flavor though. 🤗 hugs.

      @@michellessouthernhomecooki5870 I just checked the expiration and it doesn’t expire until September 2026. I will have to call them, thank you so much. I know I was so excited it turned out perfectly other than the flavor! It was my very first time ever making it. I like it spicy. But it literally only tastes like sugar and Karo syrup. @@michellessouthernhomecooki5870 it’s also strange because I thought maybe I didn’t stir it in good enough but I did some research and it said if you don’t stir it well you’ll get “hot spots” where its more spicy and I have ate dozens of pieces now and not one hot spot or one with any flavor.

    • @michellessouthernhomecooki5870
      @michellessouthernhomecooki5870  10 месяцев назад

      Sounds like the temperature was a bit too high. Do you live at a higher altitude? Try again and take off the heat at 5 degrees less at the end. Could be the calibration of the candy thermometer. Pour it out onto the parchment asap before it cools down much. That’s what I’d try.

    • @michellessouthernhomecooki5870
      @michellessouthernhomecooki5870  10 месяцев назад

      Also make sure you pour out thinly all around covering almost the entire parchment paper on the pan leaving about 1” for the edges

    • @michellessouthernhomecooki5870
      @michellessouthernhomecooki5870  10 месяцев назад

      Here’s something I found.
      How do you adjust candy recipe for high altitude?
      For every 1,000 feet elevation above sea level, decrease the temperature(s) in the recipe by 2˚F. (Example: You live at 10,000' and your recipe indicates a finish temperature of 236˚F. 10 x2˚F. = 20˚F, so your adjusted finish temperature is 236˚F- 20˚F=216˚F.)

    • @michellessouthernhomecooki5870
      @michellessouthernhomecooki5870  11 месяцев назад

      It’s a mini measure all from Pampered Chef but you can order one from Amazon as well. Search easy pour or adjustable measuring cup. If you type plunger measuring cup it comes up too. I’ve had that mini measure all a long time. I don’t care for the regular size one from Pampered chef. It doesn’t slide well. I have the oxo brand regular size one from Amazon. If I had to have one it would be that one. Read the reviews on them. They shouldn’t be over $15 or so. 😁💕 It’s great for Karo syrup, peanut butter, shortening or anything sticky.
