You say "water" like my mom did. The other day I was remeniscing on being a kid and remembered my mom making candy for us when I was a kid 50 years ago. So this is the first video I clicked on because I was thinking about making my own candy. Ive never heard anyone else ever pronounce water as "wooder" like my mom. She was raised in North Carolina and Washington D.C. What part of the counrty are you in? Wondering if "wooder" is a regional thing. Anyway, going to watch the rest of the video now. Thanks.
That is so fun for me to hear! I sometimes feel silly with my accent, but then I just get over it. My kids may watch these one day and feel nostalgic too. I was born and raised in south Jersey near Philadelphia. It is most definitely a regional pronunciation- set around Philly, I believe, so I would think her DC days were what gave her that sparkle to her “water”. Thank you for sharing that piece of your life with me. I always tell my boys- you never know how you may affect other people, but hopefully it’s for the better 😊
@CaketasticCakes Thanks for replying! That helps. We used to tease my mom with that. She would always just laugh. One say your kids will be grown and will look back on memories with you and cherish them. Funny thing is, there doesn't seem to be a reason some things get remembered more than others. Sometimes they are not the things we'd expect but all of them are special memories. Thanks again. Hope to make my first batch of candy soon.
Put that handle on the other side. Every time you reach for the spoon, I get nervous that your long sleeves will snag the pot handle and hot candy syrup will fall upon you!
i’m so excited to make these
"One and seven quarters cups of sugar". Is that 1-3/4 cups?
Yes. Sorry that wasn’t clear. One and 3/4 cups sugar is right 😊
Thanks for the recipe, think I'll put a bit of citric acid on mine instead of powdered sugar. Merry Christmas.

What flavor do you recommend?
Blue raspberry and blueberry
Has anyone ever added citric acid to create a sour flavor? I haven't experimented yet and don't want to ruin a batch.
it's normal for people to do. if you watch other videos on the topic, especially those in stores, they add citric acid all the time for flavor
