Channel Awesome I love Channel Awesome
Would you consider adapting a new hope with this version of the prequels as your foundation? But when you make that keep this in mind that even a minor change in the timeline can have unforeseeable consequences as the years spiral out. It was only about 13 years since the death of Qui-gon Jinn and the Battle on Mustafar in the original continuity and while the event itself still happened in the changes in the timeline the events leading up to it were quite different, even going so far as to have Grievous die first. It probably goes without saying but the events we saw change in this version are but the tip of the iceberg I mean what about the clone wars Kenobi's death prior to the clone wars changes the events on Mandalore durring the lone Wars and possibly Mandalorian Civil War that happens later, in fact depending on how much it changes the clone war it may even prevent the Mandalorian Civil War entirely. Not every change has to have a negative outcome on the timeline, but that actually brings up an interesting point anyways, because with an entire chapter in history being deleted something has to take it's place, (I think the best example of just how fast a minor change can damage the timeline happens in the arrowvers in the 2 part episode "Out of Time/Rogue Time") long story short the fact of the matter is that by the time of the events of A New Hope came along the timeline would be almost unrecognizable. If I were to pick up where you left of I would have it that something happened in his past that saw Galen Erso be loyal to the empire and not a rebel spy mascaraing as an imperialist to the point where even the people he's trying to help don't realize that he's in fact on their side, and no spy Galen Erso means no Death-star Weakness. but that is just one way that this universe can change going forward. The possibilities are essentially limitless. Still I hope you continue. maybe retcon out Duku's death so that it only seemed like he died.

@@pelicanking9596 He'd probably still turn. The Death of Qui-Gon was the final push, not a catalyst for the whole transformation. He'd no doubt have had some other event serve as that final push.

Not gone but shifted. It probably wouldnt be as powerful a thing but as someone with a few syblings meeting a older brother I know either nothing about, next to nothing about, or only knew that he was a Jedi and an Hero as they try and kill me would fuck my head up.

@@auroradragen5920 I agree. The story could play on the fact that neither really learned of each other until their confrontation in the next movie. Imagine how Luke would feel to find out he's Darth Vader's younger brother. That could mess up his confidence in ways that being his son never could.

Qui Gonn would have been suspicious of Palpatine after staying in power so long, escalating the clone wars, and especially how much time Anakin spent around him. I think he would have figured it out.
I like to think Qui-Gon, being the paragon he is, would have made good on his promise and gone back for Shmi. Anakin would need to be wary of attachment, but his master wouldn't leave him worrying for over a decade!
The Young Obi-Wan books were the EU "Source" on what Qui-Gon was like, and they had a few familiar names, but the characters were different from the versions Disney introduced. One of these was Satine Kryze, who again was Obi-Wan's girlfriend. In the EU, Qui-Gon quite literally leaves her in a situation where her death is inevitable (one he could have stopped) and when Obi-Wan goes to save her, leaves him to die with her. Obviously Obi-Wan survives, but there's no way Qui-Gon could have been sure of this. Qui-Gon's motive, by the way, was that he never truly lets himself get attached to people, and their deaths are (his would also be, at least he's not a hypocrite about it) secondary in the grand scheme of things.
tl;dr EU Qui-Gon would totally leave Shimi to her fate.

Watching now, but one question- how did Dooku end up a Sith? His shatterpoint event, per se, was the death of Qui Gon. That was what filled him with anger and resentment, and caused him to leave the order (placing him in Sidious' sites). If Qui Gon lived, wouldn't he presumably remained Master Dooku, former apprentice of Yoda, and probably not candidate #1 for recruitment?
Strangely, I think this actually makes more sense. Think of it this way. Palpatine shows that Darth Maul killed Qui Gon, then Dooku would have presumably learned about Maul's connection to Palpatine? Wouldn't Dooku realized that Qui Gon's death was his master's fault? If so, wouldn't that mean that Dooku would want to avenge Qui Gon and/or return to the Jedi. And if not, doesn't that make Dooku a horribly stupid character?
@@TheHero136 dooku was fighting palpatine with half the republics might, his goal was subterfuge to kill palpatine, palpatine knew and wanted him to try to, that enabled his plan for anakin who he met after mauls death before dooku fell etc
Then dooku could reshape the jedi as he saw fit, as the figurehead and leader of a new republic, and supreme master of the jedi, not a jedi master, but a master of jedi
Aurora Uplinks nothing against you but can I please say how much I hate this way of writing. Where we can just ignore all plot holes or logic and say it’s part of Palpatine’s plan. It’s just so ridiculous to let all these leaps in logic just being written off as “part of the plan.”
@@TheHero136 ok....well then...palpatine corrupts and recruits dooku after the phantom menace, after he met anakin saying, he was looking forward to his careers future. All. In. The. .... future.... yes the script was augmented but anakin's future was being planned by palpatine after he met him and heard all about his potential, birth, and quigons demand he be trained against all customs and rules, after Qui gon and his apprentice killed the emperors apprentice, so presumingly the emperor values quigons opinion on the boy and became determined to have one capable of beating his former apprentice as his future apprentice. That's manipulative planning, every war and political leader does it, search for the best assets then plan how to maintain and use them cost effectively.
I hate to say it, but regardless of how we feel, every movie has planning, just like this one, it's not ad-libbed in after, it's based on film events and dialogue, and I agree it's not the film Lucas planned on initially, jarjar was supposed to be a secret sith altering events but that had to be put in the background, otherwise we would have had a more fulfilling trillogy
Again, very nice work! However I always imagined that if Qui-Gon had lived he would've SAVED Anakin from turning to the dark side by training him to be balanced in the light and dark sides of the force and supporting him like a father and Anakin would NOT have needed Palpatine's help with anything! He would've also helped Anakin with his fears about Padme and ensured him to stay calm about her and always follow the will of the force.
Using Padmay to keep him loyal makes a lot of sense. More than the original.

I'm curious to see how things would have turned out. But I have to remind myself that Qui-Gon wasn't perfect. For the flaws that Obi-Wan had....Qui-Gon was the one that didn't train those flaws out of him. Of course I did enjoy this 'what-if' scenario since there are a lot of factors you can look at. Part of me can't help but think if he was still alive then things would have gone fairly similarly or honestly the guy probably gets assassinated since Palpatine is smart enough to try and deal with the biggest obstacles to his rise to power.
Obi Wan hadn’t really completed his training though, he was still an apprentice when Jinn died.
@@alexman378 I agree, Obi-Wan took on training Anakin way before he was ready to do that. Had Anakin been trained by Qui-Gon instead he would have become a very different jedi, probably a lot less susceptible to the dark side.

Obi Wan wasn’t *flawed* he was just young and was stuck with a particularly difficult pads wan. Anakins choices were his own and you can’t blame Obi Wan, especially considering that Obi-Wan did love Anakin and trained him the best he could.

-The trust and friendship with Palpatine
-Anakin is loyal to his friends beyond reason
- the fear of losing his dearest persons
- his wishes to fulfill the promise to his mother (to stop people from dying)

I feel this version justifys Anakin's turn better than Lucas did. Maul killing her would have set him crashing into the dark side, he could be easily conned by Palpatine.
I'm actually kinda surprised that it didn't really change that much from the actual movie, don't get me wrong it is different but not that different you know.

Well this is more a light rewrite than a contemplative what if
Remember: this is just one event changing. Yes, there is butterfly effect, but remember also: a lot of cards were already in place, and there was someone (Palp) already with plans to manipulate circumstances. The idea that a lot of things wouldn't just be somewhat altered versions of what we know is somewhat silly, if you ask me.
Wow the voice acting in this was very good. Walter doing Anakin was great could really feel the emotions, and I'm loving Doug doing Qui-Gon. Great twist ending! This was well done.
Well, it definitely took a different turn than I anticipated! I like that Qui-gon went the way of Obi-Wan with the force ghost routine and that Yoda took up Obi-wan's place on Tatooine. I've always loved this concept of Qui-gon surviving but very few people actually still allow anakin to fall to the dark side. Many of these "What if's" have anakin remain a Jedi.
Can we have a sequel to this?

Loved this story. Fantastic setup. Also, I have an idea for a "What If" situation: What if Screenslaver was a conventional villain?
By conventional, I mean that he's just a villain. No twist, no special secret identity. He's just a new villain that the Incredibles have to face. I think that a lot can be done with this idea while still keeping close to the original film.

Make sure your identity stays a secret. check the patsy pizza man and never actually being at the scene of the crime gives almost no evidence to her being the screenslaver
Use your power/tech/abilities correctly.
Check like I said before the patsy but also using the mind control on all the powerful pieces in the game whilst also not actively hindrancing yourself
The only thing she didnt really account for was the kids being so resourceful and to be honest lucky

Like it was only a twist villan cause we knew her out of screenslaver mode but if we never met Evelyn in the movie it really wouldnt have been a 'special' secret identity just a regular one. So I wouldnt think that the story would change almost at all
There should be a timeline, where Anikin Skywalker doesn't go to the dark side. Instead he learns the power of force heal, somehow from accessing the ancient Jedi books. Then he and Aschoka Tano start to expose, that the Jedi have lost their way, which almost would have lead to the Sith takeover. They start to train a new generation of Jedi, in a way according to the ancient texts. To keep the force in balance. Not trying to repress the dark side, knowing that force can self correct itself, not allowing for the balance to be lost. A true wise Jedi isn't denying and suppressing his dark side. Instead he keeps it under control, not excluding that aspect of the force.

The story is how they got there, and their enemies are basically everyone that are fanatic for the light or dark.
@@archibald_raven EU had a lot of situations where Luke had the Jedi on the right path but still things went wrong. The most famous (and largest) is probably the Yuzon-Vong, but there are tonnes of others. Just because the Jedi are on-track isn't gonna stop everyone in the galaxy from doing bad things. Some of them will succeed, given probability.

Prolly cuz even in canon, he doesn't die and becomes a cyborg. He just doesn't show up in subsequent movies, and I think a lot of what-ifs try to fix that.

I enjoy this take on its own, but I think for things to play out this way we have to accept that you're changing more details than simply Qui-Gon surviving Episode I. Most notably is Dooku taking on Maul as a secret apprentice, which seems like an entirely separate departure from the original that could happen whether or not Qui-Gon dies (but it didn't). I do agree that Qui-Gon's continued presence during Anakin's upbringing would have significantly changed things, but this introduces many more variable changes that I don't think are justified simply by keeping Qui-Gon alive through Episode I.
That said, I still enjoyed the whole take. Good stuff!
Dooku could easily have adopted maul as his apprentice to lessen the blow from the realization that qui-Gon would NEVER join him

@@SeasideDetective2 Luke's father is Anakin as in the original. Owen was birthed by Shmi after her owner fell in love with her. He married Shmi and paid to have her slave title removed. Sometime before Episode II, Shmi gave birth to Owen. This was before Anakin returned to find her kidnapped.
In the original story Owen is Anakin's brother and Luke's uncle. I think the narrator miss spoke. I can't see why this would be done deliberately.

Qui Gon may be flawed but I doubt Anakin would turn with Qui Gon around after all Qui Gon was the one who freed Anakin from slavery and tried to at least free his Mom also Qui Gon was not a big follower of the Jedi Code or Jedi Council but follows the will of the living force more times then not and sometimes follows his own wants and needs but not too much also he may be in love with Padme but Qui Gon would teach him how to love her in a more less possessive way it may take a while but it could happen.

This really is a Telltale among Fanfiction. Despite all different choices. Majority stayed exactly the same.
As powerful as Qui-Gon is he is more of a Wise master than a duelist. Obi-wan perfected defensive lightsaber fighting. Anakin's path to brash fighting styles would wallop Qui-Gon.

Okay, after watching both parts of this What If...I kind of want to see how this plays out in the original trilogy. Sure I'm fairly certain that everything will end up being similar to the original script, albeit with the big reveal not being Vader is Luke and Leia's father, Yoda being in Obi's place and Qui Gon being in Yoda's place...but I think some dynamics of the story could possibly change in the long run. Think about it: Yoda was with Chewbacca during Episode 3, so that alone will have major significance I would believe...then again, maybe I'm just reading too much into it.

I respectfully disagree. One reason he fell was he needed a father figure to trust. He trusted qui gon. If he survived he would have told quigon about him and padme. Sense quigon argued with the council a lot, he wouldnt tell them. He didnt tell them when he discovered the force priestesses until the clone wars.
I think Dooku would’ve told them who Palpatine actually was.

It will be just as dumb because its just the role of a throw away villain at the last minute. Hell even in the original script there was Also an powerfull overlord under kylos shadow like snoke was, when kylo should have beeing the main villain from the start with no creepy asshole with a Gollum voice overshadowing him
The better question would be what if kylo ren was the main villain of episode ix? Or what if he wasn't reedem.

Darth plagues was mention ONCE in the saga do you really thing people that didn't read any EU material Will imidiatly recognize him and put him in kylo story, when just snoke and Darth Vader where More than enough? Brining him back would be just as dumb as brining darth maul in solo, that fanservise shit only speck to anti-social fanboy rather than actual storytelling.

Well "I am your brother" isn't as iconic as "I am your father". In this case, I would have Leia still lead the Rebellion and be arrested over Tatooine. Luke and Yoda still retrieve R2-D2 and C-3PO, then find Han Solo and Chewbacca. Alderaan is still destroyed. Yoda survives his duel with Darth Vader while Luke and Leia become closer. Since they're not related, it's less creepy. Luke still destroys the First Death Star and Yoda continues to train Luke. After the Battle of Hoth, Luke joins Yoda and Qui-Gon's ghost on Dagabah. Here, Luke passes his trials and becomes a Jedi Knight. He then faces his brother Vader on Cloud City. Sensing the good that Qui-Gon once had, Luke spares Vader and escapes with Leia and Lando. At the Battle of Endor, Luke turns Vader back and they battle Sidious together. Sidious kills Vader, but Luke is able to strike him down, ending his reign of tyranny (for now). With the Empire crumbling, Yoda and Luke then track down Ezra Bridger, Ahsoka Tano (if she's still in the story), Cal Kestis, Cere Junda, and any other surviving Jedi and form a New Jedi Order. It is here that Yoda begins to pass away and where he tells Luke to pass on what he had learned. Leia is still Force-Sensitive, so she also becomes a Jedi.
