Ghostbusters II is a 1989 American film directed and produced by Ivan Reitman and written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis. Although there IS the remote possibility of a more powerful entity tunnelling through from that world into ours. At the risk of invoking another, similarly-named franchise, need I remind you of Prime Evil?
That line actually made me laugh out loud.
That line you gave Peck towards the climax of the script was amazing

@@KyrstOak Well in both movies, he's been thrashing the Ghostbusters because he thought Ghosts weren't real. If his own dead mother talks sense into him, that would make him change fast
I loved it too. I could even see William Atherton acting that scene.

Home Alone 2, anyone?
I love the idea of ghosts of Viggo's past victims getting to take their revenge on him. That would've been a lot more satisfying then positively-charged pink slime. I also love the idea of the statues becoming possessed by evil spirits as though the ghosts are using the statues as armour. It creates a nice continuity with the positively-possessed Statue of Liberty, and the role art plays in the return of Viggo.
I know theres lots of detractors for the second movie. But I loved it

@@JimmyNotes I definitely enjoyed the peaceful and restoration aspect of the second ghostbusters. Really heartwarming concept that a psychokinetic ooze can feel strong emotions of Love and Hate. Totally a yin yang gang movie.

Channel Awesome matrix Revolutions. Please. Matrix 2’s ending was setting up such and amazing twist, and instead they went the safe “you’re all free now, and the world it as peace” final movie.

Thing i hated most about 2 was that the entire city and world forgot that trans dimensional ghosts that trashed the city before their eyes 4 years prior.

One would think that the Ghostbusters would be commended for saving the world after their run in with Gozer, but instead, everyone just acts like it never happened.
It makes as much sense as making the moon landing a front to investigate an alien spacecraft that crash landed on the moon.
Just finding this comment and at the time I thought it was dumb too. Sadly tho, it foreshadowed the future really well in that once the big bad is defeated, the powers that be slowly stop reminding people and then they start to say untrue facts about it. Then they start attacking it until now it was a bad deed to fight the bad thing and it was misunderstood.
Oh my f***king god I love this movie. I’m a fan of GB 2 to be honest, but I do need to exclaim “this would have been awesome!”

This version is really good - too good, frankly. To the point that it almost pisses me off that we got what we got instead of something more like this. It COULD have been done!

End credit scene - Walter Peck gets possessed or finds some haunted artefact, teasing another sequel.
He can be forced to start another team after a major experience or another portal opening. Someone can steal the portal cannon/mine plans if not the weapon itself.

I really enjoyed this, I'd really like to see more of these, Alien 3, The Fly II, The Lost World: Jurarric Park, RoboCop 2, The Blues Brothers 2000 and Son of the Mask to name a few :)
Blues Brothers 2000 is a prime candidate. The movie as it stands, I refuse to acknowledge exists. Aside from losing Belushi, that movie had problems.
Say what you want about robocop 2 and the fly 2 but everyone cant deny that the last fight with crane was kickass and the fly vomiting a dudes faces off was metal AF

Yeah, but 3 writes itself after you have already established other dimensions existing.
Imagine if the ghostbuster's 3 team used the same doorway trick only happened to stumble onto ghostbuster's 2 dimension. Then you have the possibility of two similar overlapping dimensions beginning to collide and the mayhem that causes. That EPA guy can have the smuggest of looks on his face as they are shut down for a third time for starting a twisted "apocalypse."
I hope that they do a Ghost busters Three in the future because that would be a great movie too watch 😂😊😁😉🙂

I love that there was no baby , more lore based story , i like how fana and Peter are fiances instead of dating then leaving each other , it's more structural and is very in line with the story

I love pecks monologue about his mother. It's great to give him a more well rounded character, while doing it in a clever creative way. Cudos!
Wow. This would have been amazing to see. It still has that darker feel the actual sequel had while keeping the humour of the first movie. When you mentioned how the court case should have played out with the slime coming up and releasing the Scolari Brothers, I thought to myself "that is exactly how I thought that should be like when Doug reviewed Ghostbusters 2".
I definitely liked the idea of Vigo being powered by fear instead of anger. Seeing more ghosts including "good" ones to help fight Vigo is a great idea. The idea of Vigo wanting to marry Dana due to her past experiences with the supernatural is an interesting concept but I couldn't help but think of the ending of Beetlejuice where he tries to marry Lydia before the Maitlands stop him. Still the new plan for Vigo is an interesting concept.
I personally liked the ideas and changes to the script, and the use of iconic statues and land marks as well as artwork in the museum is brilliant. Vego is all about possession so having his haunting reflect that is a great change.
Now here is a challenge, can you fix the Super Mario Bros movie?

I liked her part in this one too. Tho I find it interesting her being in love with Lewis was kept in this version. I still think her in love with Egon is better. Especially how it was carried over to GB Afterlife. Maybe Lewis's love interest could be a random character. Like one that saw him on the news of the Gozer attack

For the most part I like it as it is though I wish we'd seen the ghostbusters interact with Slimer and explain why he's haunting the firehouse and that Egon and Ray use him to study. Some of the dynamic between Slimer and Peter from the cartoon would have been fun to see on screen too.

OK. I actually like Ghostbusters 2, but I really really *really* wish we had this version.
I just almost fell out of my chair laughing at the scene you just described with Peck's little heart-to-heart
When he said, Ray should mention the ancient burial grounds to Peck and Peter tells him not to ruin the surprise. I would have said don't ruin our chances for a potential client.
Dunno about yourself(and I also thought the original sequel was okay at best), but as a whole, this script sounds waaay better than what we got, mate.
So good that it could easily be made, whether back then or today.
And if it's to be made some time in the future as an animated fan-adaptation at least, with the voice work of you guys, I'd be so happy to help animate it.

@@delyon5344 Grandfather paradox is you killing your grandfather before he has a chance to conceive your father, thus you were never born so couldn't go back in time to kill your grandfather. The little I saw looking up bootstrap paradox is a self-contained loop where A leads to B and B leads back to A ad infinitum. Not sure if I got that right though.
@@Craxin01 yeah so the grandfather part of that paradox is the example. If you replace the grandfather with the ghostbusters 2 movie when you send the new script back you kill the ghostbusters 2 original which prevents you from ever going back with the new script.

Rob, you had me until you called Ray an idiot. He’s not! Childlike? Perhaps. An aspect of his personality that was greatly exaggerated for the animated series. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. 😉
Seriously, though: As much as I respect your opinion and can appreciate the effort it takes to write for FanScription, you’re wrong about Ray. Dan Aykroyd is the mother fucking *KING* of exposition! If I remember correctly, he wrote most of his own dialogue. When it comes to delivering lines that have any kind of paranormal jargon- dates, cultures, religious beliefs, you name it- Aykroyd sells it like he absolutely, positively knows what he’s talking about! He did the same thing in Sneakers.
By the way, I have nothing against the idea that Vigo should have possessed Peter instead. I just wanted to throw my humble objection in defense of my fellow Southpaw!

The Peck scene would have been hilarious. Now that I think about it, this whole plot would have been great.
God this would have been so much better of a movie! I would love to hear what they think it would be like if they kept the kid but made it the child of Vinze (sp?) and Zuul? And Vigo wants this child specifically because it was conceived while Louis and Dana were possessed by Sumerian Demigods!
Then the film would have needed to come out in 1985 instead of 1989. Unless the child gestated for an extra four years.

The courtroom scene in 2 with Louis being fed his statement by Venkman is golden. Sorry, Ghostbusters 2 is superior for me for this and other reasons I can't be bothered to convince you with. Wouldn't change a single thing.
Intriguing opinion. Totally wrong but intriguing. One or two funny scenes doesn’t make up for the rest of it being shit. Just about every friggin scene in the first one has comedy gold in it.

If I were to add one thing, during the final battle with Vigo, the rush of ghosts almost pulls him through the portal, or just past the doorway and he starts pulling himself back out. Then we hear a roar and the giant monster they'd seen when testing the new traps crashes its huge head through the doorway, swallowing Vigo in one bite. It pulls itself back inside and then they close the portal.
This was actually very good! I only wish Hollywood writes like this.

2 is a mess, almost as bad as 3, they don't even use weapons, they removed Casey & for some reason they didn't put in Bebop & Rocksteady. it needs a total rewrite & to allow turtles to use weapons again, turtles should have a little violence to it even if it's for kids.
Really they could do any of them. The best turtles movie we got was the 2007 animated version. It can’t be that hard to make a love action turtles movie.

Well, obviously this would have been better than the ‘89 sequel, but I wish more people would experience and talk about the video game (the newer one). Very cinematic and written by Harold Ramis & Dan Aykroyd, and voiced by the original cast of actors.

Yours is a much better version. I always thought GB 2 was pretty weak and I was disappointed.
I had a really good idea for a third movie that required them to start franchises in other cities and then eventually reunite with their new teams in St Louis, this time using the Gateway Arch as a giant "ghost portal". I would have loved to have written this script.
But Peck can't go against them when he himself witnessed same said 100ft Marshmellow Man in downtown Manhattan as 1000's had the same. We even see Peck stare up to Mr. Stay Puffed moments before it crushes the roof off a Church building...... which is right next to Diana's building.
You misunderstand how stubborn Peck is
Ghostbusters 2 could've had the Ghostbusters still in business after the Gozer incident. Ever since they destroyed the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, its marshmallow (still containing the kinetic essence of Gozer) would've spread out across New York. Turning New York into a semi-permanent hotbed of ghostly activity.
Personally, I friggin' love Ghostbusters II, but I would watch the Hell out of this film!

I had a very similar idea for a blog: Cinimatic Repair. The idea was to take a movie that had a solid core with potential to be good but repair all its problems. I'm not upset that you guys are doing something like this. In fact, I'm happy that somebody else is doing this kind of stuff. Keep this up.

I like it and sets up a sequel that would have Winston, Jeannie and Lewis as the main characters, might've been direct to video but I'm 39 and as a kid I would've liked that
For the Montage scene I'd actually like to see a combination of ghosts as well as the possessed Statues because my favorite part from the original version's montage was the Titanic, though the model would have to be reworked for accuracy regarding the damage caused by the Iceberg as well as the split and the implosion caused by the trapped air in the back half of the ship.
Also we could still have Cheech's character say Well, better late than never.

what Doug brought up in the Nostalgia Critic review on this was at least a good foundation and what Rob did was a good expansion
Peck's three reasons are hilarious and surprisingly heartfelt and I feel like it could actually work and feel genuine without feeling unearned or corney.
The chain reaction from this "What if?" would be awesome, GB2016 wouln't exist and maybe GB3 wouln't become an over hyped Goosebumps tv movie but instead the passing of the torch for the characters of Extreme Ghosbusters... I need to jump to that alternative reality now.

This was actually REALLY REALLY Good! As much as I liked the original, this was SO MUCH Better!! I LOVE The visual art y'all made and I LOVE what you did with Winston! Hell, I even Liked the idea of a mid-credits scene!
Although, if I had to change ONE thing in the mid-credits scene, instead of having Janine, you should've had an unknown actor and have it be the scene of the ROOKIE FROM THE VIDEO GAME putting the pack on and end it there, thus starting the VIDEO GAME Story as if it were like a subtle sequel! (Ghostbusters game would be like a GB 2.5 if you will) That would've been AWESOME!
I like your treatment and think it would have been good. I like the original the way it is, but I'm not so in love with to the point that I can't stand others not liking it. I disagree with the idea that the first me was about nothing. It was about these guys starting a business and the challenges of doing so under these circumstances. Plus, Dan said it was met to be a throwback to the Abbott and Costello type horror comedies. As for making something out of your idea, maybe do it as an animated for adult audiences.

What if this version of the movie was made but done in animation?
I got this idea when I remembered seeing some lost episodes of Doctor Who released on dvd but done in animation.
This could have a mix of audio from the actual movie along with new sound effects and new voice overs from the original remaining cast and some voice actors.
What does everyone think?
I wish I had an animation team so I could bring this treatment to life.
I personally loved this idea! The only thing I may have added (maybe), would be having the ancient cult that was referenced in the original be Viggo's victims who became the river of slime. But that aside... the dialogue, the ghost dimension, the Statue of Liberty fight, as well as everything/everyone from the sequel you managed to keep in the story... I'd watch that movie! Great FanScription, looking forward to the next!

I've always thought that a good Ghostbusters 3 movie could adapt the Ghostbusters Extreme series from the 90s, but toned down to be not as annoying with a couple of the original Ghostbusters coming in as cameos to say that it is a bad idea. Written right, it could be pretty good and could even pay respectful tribute to the Ghostbusters who have gone to the beyond.
I like Ghostbusters 2 and don’t care who knows it.

So glad you kept Peter and Dana together! That's one approach to sequels I've always disliked--as you put it, the "here we go again" business, undoing some resolution from the first (for example, a romantic relationship) so the whole thing can happen all over again--instead of, say, DEVELOPING said resolution. That's what I loved so much about the Mummy movies--they kept Rick and Evie together and developed them as a couple/family.
You still need that scene with them yelling in the tunnel to hear the echo. "Winston"... makes me laugh every time.

Why didn’t we get this as the sequel? It recaptures what made the original good while also adding in new things to keep it interesting. You know, the things a sequel SHOULD do.
I guess the movie executives thought differently
I would love to see this applied to Secrets of NIMH 2 and approach it by adapting the sequel novel Rasco and the Rats of Nimh but also putting your own spin on it.
Okay, somebody should hireRob for reboot writing, he gets more of it than many screenwriters we now claim we hate do.
