Now with the abomination known as Ghostbusters 2016, in existence, I don't know how anybody could still hate part 2. If you watch Elf with Will Ferrell you will see that his dad (the late James Caan) stays at the exact same NY building with Dana Barrett, where the final battle happened! When James Caan exits the building to go to his office and he talks to the Elf in the cell phone, you can clearly see the exterior of the building, the same entrance where Ghostbusters entered to fight Gozer, the same street (and the same view with the trees and all...) where Gozer tried to kill them before they enter the building! That was cool !
It's a shame the Vigo stepping out of the painting scene never happened, would've loved to see that. That really does look creepy AF and Frickin awesome. That scene for sure would've given me hella nightmares as a kid. Great video, as always, Minty!
I can swear that when I saw the film at the cinema way back in 89, the scene where Luis asks Slimer "I'm not sure if you have a licence"....I swear Slimer said "Does it matter?"
Too hot to handle, too cold to hold They're called the Ghostbusters and they're in control Had 'em throwin' a party for a bunch of children All the while the slime was under the building So they packed up their group, got a grip, came equipped Grabbed their proton packs off their back and they split But what about VIGO, the master of Evil Try to battle my BOYS? That's not Legal!!!
You know what I think?… using “underrated” is OVERRATED!! Give it a rest for crying out loud! I have no idea what everybody’s infatuation with using the word “underrated” is on RUclips, but shut up with saying it so it so much. Everybody is constantly inaccurately using the word “underrated” on RUclips to the point where it’s unusable 😣😣😣😣😣
agreed, I also think the scene they did leave in of rays initial possession whilst scanning the painting does the same thing though for the story we can understand why at the finale it happenss
One of my favorite parts of the Ghostbusters video game is when they're in the museum and hear Ray get possessed over the radio, and everyone treats like it's something that happens all the time.
Wife and I took the kids to the Drive In that's still hoping in our Town. They always have Retro Movies, and Ghostbusters 1 was the showing. My kids absolutely loved it from the start and I couldn't have been happier for them! Great Video Minty!
Some people just hate movies for weird reasons, and others jump on a bandwagon, because they can. I'm fond of turning to people who use "lots of people [insert action here]!" for justification of things with a simple, "That doesn't mean they're right". I'm totally with you and anyone else who likes Ghostbusters 2. It really is a good example of a sequel that's really not suffered from sequilitis as much as many others do. Kudos for finding the positivity in it, and trying to spread that around. May your 2023 be epic.
I saw Ghostbusters II in SF at a premier when I was 13. My dad worked at KMEL radio in SF at the time, and my mom, brother, sister, and myself got to see the early premier. I didn't think it was bad, despite a few things I didn't like, but overall, the film has grown on me over the years.
I’ve seen every Ghostbusters film on the big screen *(by that, I only mean the three that are canon)-* from age ten in 1984 to forty-seven in 2021 with Afterlife- and I’ll always have a soft spot in my heart for Ghostbusters II. Sure, I wasn’t a fan of making the second film more “kid friendly.” I’m well aware, by the way, that the first film was never meant to be a kid’s movie. My Brother and I just happened to be eleven and ten respectively when we were allowed to go see it with Mom. And yeah, I downright hated the subplot of putting Janine and Louis together while completely negating the chemistry between the characters of Janine and Egon. But with all that said, I never understood all the hatred the second installment received either, Minty! Oh and by the way, for anyone ignorant enough to claim that I don’t count the 2016 nonsense as canon “because girls,” _I am a woman!_ I’m not going to give unfunny bullshit a pass just because I share a gender with the leads.
@@ajakuk1 I think that Dan, Harold and Ivan could have given Janine a sister or best friend who developed a crush on Louis. But I was happy to see that Afterlife included the deleted scene (from the first film) between Harold Ramis and Annie Potts. I’m not ashamed to admit that final scene, as well as the tribute to Harold, made me cry. 💚😢😢💚

Born in 81', myself. Mom let me watch GB for the first time in 1987... when I was 6 years old. Following that event, I started getting the action figures (all of them), then I started with "The REAL Ghostbusters" cartoon... have been a lifelong fan. It really was the movie that kickstarted my love of comedy, horror, and horror/comedy!
@@thisisnotachannel I was born in 87, but didn’t watch Ghostbusters until recently believe it or not. I saw the sequel first and thought it was good… but when I saw the original, it blew the sequel outta the water.
I LOVE Ghostbusters II, it has an amazing score, great set design, a killer theme song in Bobby Brown's "On Our Own" and a great message, Spreading Positivity in a way the Helps Others as well as Yourself, and is a perfect New Year's Movie! Fantastic video Minty, keep up the great work and Happy New Year! 😊
I saw Ghostbusters 2 in theaters back in 1989 and I recall a scene where Lewis Tully was chasing Slimer around the firehouse. It was then removed in the video version. It explains why Lewis says "oh its you!" When he sees Slimer driving the bus.
Side note: Any OGBs out there who haven't yet read the IDW Comics continuation of Ghostbusters, I cannot recommend them enough. They bring together EVERYTHING! Unused ideas, old scripts, scrapped characters, and every iteration of cartoon and video game. There's even some personal jabs at old SNL alum. Every frame is loaded with easter eggs.
It’s very good, I haven’t read the last couple of years but it’s pretty good with all the references to other GB Media and unused ideas for the movies.
@@diablojones Heck, there was even a 'Spies Like Us' reference. Also, the character who's name I cannot remember (who started the rival Ghost Smashers - another reference-) is an obvious nod to Chevy Chase and his rivalry with Bill Murray!
I like the idea of having Jason and him being the baby's father transferring himself into every time. I also like the idea of the mother not being Dana, but still associated with her. It just feels better that way than her baby just happened to be one chosen out of the entire city.
Gozer was great for the first movie as a god not having that much character development and only appearing at the end adds to the mystique of gozer and fits handling a god that way while vigo being a human turned super powered spectre and making him more fleshed out and known earlier made him more intimidating due to him being not a god but a human.
I can guarantee that I'm the only person on the planet who actually watched this movie last night. Then I watched 'Little Giants' because I needed more Rick Moranis. Lol It blew my mind seeing this video pop up this morning. I thought it was an old video that RUclips recommended because I searched out GB2 online. Nope, just a new video that I couldn't be more prepared to see. Nice.
Wow - excellent video, I knew a fair amount about the development of GBII already, but learned a fair amount of things from this video that I'd never known about! Small correction: Walter Peck's middle name in the earlier script is given as Margate, not Margaret. I've read that as the film developed they actually wanted Peck to be the GBs' antagonist again throughhout the movie, occupying the role played by Hardemeyer in the final film. When it turned out William Atherton was unavailable to reprise the role, they created the character of Hardemeyer instead and offered the role to Kurt Fuller, who'd originally auditioned for the scrapped role of the businessman who sets things on fire. I suspect there may have been a draft or two that featured Peck in a more extensive role, and hopefully these will resurface. I had read the first script featuring Lane Palmer but had absolutely no idea that there was another script that actually featured both her and Dana, with Dana dating Sting! I love how all these years on we're still learning fascinating facts about GB2 that had previously been lost to obscurity. I know a lot has been mentioned about how Harold Ramis's initial pitch for the movie, that persuaded the reluctant Bill Murray to come on board, was very different from the final film, to the point that Bill was annoyed when he was given the shooting script because it was so different from the pitch he'd been sold. Nothing much has been said about what Harold's exact idea was but from what I've read, it's implied it picked up directly after the events of the first film with the GBs riding high after the defeat of Gozer, rather than with them being out of business five years later. I wonder if any scripts were ever written along those lines before the idea was changed. Finally, I 100% agree with your opinion of the movie. It may have its faults but it is a very worthy successor to the original film, that has stood the test of time and achieved iconic status in its own right. And we definitely need a dose of this film's positivity with the state the world is in today. Thanks for doing this video, excellent job!
Have to agree Minty. I’ve always loved Ghostbusters II, particularly the visual effects, which were stunning to see as a kid on the big screen. Honestly I think Hollywood could take some notes from this era of effects to bring more realism back to Sci Fis.
Absolutely agree, it is a worthy successor. Not as good as the original but does not deserve some of the hate it now gets. I was a kid who watched the cartoons first and the films second and never saw any issues with this film.
Do you know what’s actually REALLY terrible? The way that everybody on RUclips overuses the word “underrated!” Stop saying “Underrated!” Not only do they overuse it, they also misuse it and use it inaccurately
They should have left in the part about Vego and Rasputin. Some back story on Vego would have been nice in a flashback, like when he possessed they guy the could have shown a short flashback to Rasputin teaching him how to do it or a conversation about it. It would have filled out the Vego character a little more.
The problem with that is that the backstory of Vigo was changed to be a ruler in Carpathia in the 16th century. So not only did Vigo's reign end 300 years before Rasputin was born, but there would also be a considerable distance between them as well.
Vigo is older than Rasputin as stated Vigo came to Russia as a migrant most likely influencing Rasputin and others into the occult and caused chaos in Russia. Could have had a sub plot where Vigo was the one who gave Ivo Shander the texts on the occult and the means to summon gozer.
Love both movies equally. "Ghostbusters" is my favorite Elmer Bernstein score. Finally over 32 years later, we get a release of Randy Edelman's score for "Ghostbusters II".
My memory of GB2 was seeing it at the theatre, when at the end of the film somebody lit a bag of popcorn on fire and set the carpet lined wall a blaze..
I love all your videos karma long time watcher. I did like the additional Little Britain nod midway, when it talks about Walter peck supposed middle name as Margaret... 😂
I remember having a Ghostbusters II book with large pictures and scripted parts of the movie. Not sure if I still have it. A lot of what you said was in the book. However, there was a scene after Winston and Ray left the Birthday party, they were driving Ecto-1 and the ambulance died. A silent moment and Ray or Winston said, " Ghostbusters is dead." End scene.
I’ve got that book! One of the pictures is the shot of Louis’s cousin standing by the Ecto-1A, with the cousin almost all cropped out. Also has some pics of Louis with the bike mirror on his glasses as he hunts for Slimer.
If they’d left in Louis’ incompetent attempt at catching Slimer, that would give more context to the bit toward the end when Slimer pulls up driving the bus to take Louis to the museum. This was the two of them making up.
I think around 50% of the cut scenes needed to be included to give it a more serious grip to the viewer. That scene with the slime eating that guy was a good way of showing why they had to find a way around it and not just try to destroy it with lasers or other means. Hell when I was little I was even asking my self why gave up so easily after just trying to remove it with the lasers.
But they say why they give up so easily, it was pointless to shoot the slime with the proton streams as the negativity was too much. Which is why the needed the Statue of Liberty to create enough positive energy to crack it.
10:38 Slimer *was* a very beloved character in the early seasons of TRGB, because they used him sparingly. It's when the producers decided that "This show needs more Slimer!" that it all became very irritating.
Yeah Slimer going from speaking gibberish to clear English is a tell for when he started to become annoying in the series. They even went so far as to rename the show Slimer and the Real Ghostbusters. I liked Slimer as a kid but I was watching the show to see the Ghostbusters, not him.
My issues with Ghostbusters II: 1) It pretty much invalidates the events of The Real Ghostbusters. 2) There's no way that all those people would've been convinced that the Ghostbusters' heroics from the first film didn't actually happen - particularly the fight with the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man. 3) They wouldn't have been successfully prosecuted/sued for causing said events either - if anything, it would've been Walter Peck instead. 4) This has bugged me ever since I first saw it in theaters as a 12-year-old: The kids at the party wouldn't have been asking for He-Man - Masters of the Universe had been practically dead as a property for two years by that point. I also feel that points 2 and 3 was just them setting the Ghostbusters back at square one so they could lazily recycle their arc from the first film - rising up from nothing to become heroes.
As a kid, I always loved GB2 and still do. I never understood why people always hated on it. In fact, for some reason when I was a kid I only wanted to watch sequels because it felt like going backwards watchiing the originals. As I grew up I realized that its true that most originals are better than their sequels and started watching and loving part 1 of my favorite movie series's. I STILL LOVE GB2, Temple of Doom, Secret of the OOz, Judgment Day and many other hated on sequels.
I'm the same way with those sequels except for maybe Ninja Turtles because that movie stands up so well now. Major League 2, BBTF 2-3(because they were filmed together), Die Hard 2, Next Friday....all relatable watchable sequels of that era that aren't just derivative of the first one and still go somewhere new with the characters. Temple of Doom is obviously the best IJ film too btw.
@@Rocky-fh9wb Yeah, it was probably imaginary people that said they didn't like it just because they liked the original better. But the other movies I swear "real" live people preferred the originals : )
Ghostbusters was the first time I saw those American paper grocery bags - so its just awesome that one of the first things we see in GB2 is Dana carrying two of those very bags. That's the Ghostbusters I know and love!

Ghostbusters 2 is awesome. My favorite scene is Winston in the subway tunnel with the ghost train… man I thought that was the funniest thing ever when I first saw it. It still has me reeling when I watch it today.
Yuh! I do love GBII ! As a kid I did not care for the inconsistencies of the script and it’s similarities to the original film… I cared about the characters and vibe of it all. As an adult I started to notice inconsistencies… I know the movie could have been better but I am still very glad that we have GB II as it is. Thanks for the video!
Great New Ghostbusters Video Minty 💪 I didn't know the driving scene...OMG 😅 killing everbody. And using the Margarete Scene from Little Britain is brilliant 😂🤣. Please go on and never stop making your Videos. Greetings from Germany 👋
I love the sequel but I would change a few things: making it more like horror the same as the first movie, making Danna's boss a descendent of Viggo, making the ghosts to be visible in the slime which looks something like the river Styx, making Viggo a more menacing villain where there is an epic showdown with the Ghostbusters which lasts more minutes than what we got and no tiger sounds coming from Vigo. Also, I would make the scene where Viggo talks to Danna's boss a little bit different, like Vigo can come out of the painting as full ghost without any weird CGI and he reveals that Danna's boss is his descendent and he need him to bring a human sacrifice to be reborn again and it doesn't matter who it is.
I've always loved GB2, but then again I was very young when 1 came out so 2 was more my time. I remember watching 1 and being genuinely freaked out at the librarian as well as the Zuul chair/door scene, but otherwise loving it with . GB2 was freaky from start to finish as a kid. From the courtroom scene where a judge was getting his comeuppance to Vigo creepily creeping around in a painting to the baby getting literally kidnapped to that Vigo/Ray abomination, it made my skin crawl and I loved it. Plus they had goo guns that worked like flamethrowers and I wanted some.
I think its safe to say slimer was very popular and loved by mostly everyone through the first few seasons of the real ghostbusters but when the network demanded more of him , he became very annoying because its just a character where less is more.
Even as a kid I was really bothered by everyone forgetting the events of the first movie after only 5 years, it would be 20 years at least. If the negative energy is somehow involved, then that should have been made more clear, maybe a scene showing how someone could conclude that the Ghostbusters were somehow to blame for it all, or how negativity could somehow lead people to be dismissive of the supernatural.
Yeah we were pretty much left to figure out why everyone forgot on our own. Vigo’s influence could be one, or maybe it was just commenting on New Yorkers in general. Like how the people in the restaurant ignore Louis in the first one.
"everyone forgot" Who forgot? Obviously the mayor did not forget. You wouldn't need supernatural slime to make people think it was an SFX show or a hoax. People will rationalize anything. The events of the sequel would be harder to rationalize since they walked the statue of liberty into Manhattan and left it there
I remember reading about Bill Murray being pissed off that the script that he read that made him sign on to do it was changed and he was not told until he showed up on the first day of shooting. That was the main reason he did not want to do a third Ghostbusters movie
"Doe, Ray........Egon!" Love, love, love Ghostbusters 2. Rest in Peace Mr. Ramis, a father of the Ghosbusters taken too soon. Thanks Minty, as always. Keep the good stuff coming my friend, your people appreciate, and enjoy what you do!
I watched Ghostbusters II recently, and that montage of the Ghostbusters being back has several other problems - the characters switch between light grey and dark grey suits, almost as if there are two sets of scenes filmed at different times. And with this video talking about the deleted scenes, it makes more sense.
12:24 "Being miserable and treating other people like dirt is every New Yorker's God-given right!" When I got older and heard that line, I was on the FLOOR🤣🤣🤣🤣
I am much more fond of GBII than I was 20 years ago. It does things I do like such as Peter and Dana’s relationship feeling more genuine and the idea of the river of slime. That said, I do still have my problems with it and some of them are connected to these deleted scenes that you mentioned. Others included never liking the idea of the GBs being run out of business and/or people no longer believing them (despite the fact that thousands of people saw Stay-Puft back in ‘84) or the relationship between Louis and Janine. (Being an RGB fan I am a die-hard Egon/Janine shipper) ;)
GBII is great as well a real companion movie to the original and Vigo was really terrifying, the court ghost busting scene was really well done with the comedic timing and serious ghost busting. Fun fact Winston wasn't there because he actually has a ghost to bust the mother of the brothers which was in the comics.
Yes, it was great in its own right. But not when compared to the original. When you compare it to the original, it sucked. The original Ghostbusters will always be an untoppable classic. But when the sequel isn’t compared to the first movie it is good, I agree 🙂
@@richjohns8283 I've never seen Winston in the court in _any_ of the deleted scenes. Can you tell us in which deleted scenes we might find Winston? Many thanks.
Ghostbusters II has aged like fine wine! When first released this movie did not get the appreciation it deserved! As time has gone by however, I see people putting Ghostbusters II in a much more positive light. Time has been rather kind to this film! I always loved Ghostbusters II and never thought it was a bad sequel!
I saw GB2 in theaters when I was 8 years old. I loved i then and I still love it to this day. Yes, the first film is better and an absolute classic but the second one was really good too. It's intriguing to hear about all these deleted scenes and subplots. I never understood to context of Peter doing that double take in the car either lol. And I still get chills during that Winston echo scene lol
Ghostbusters 2 and Ghostbusters: Afterlife are my favourite Ghostbusters movies. I read the final script for Ghostbusters 2 which became the movie we got online ages ago and to my surprise, I discovered Sigourney Weaver removing her shirt in the slime bath attack sequence wasn't scripted 11:41 and I suspected it may had been Ivan Reitman or Sigourney Weaver's idea when it came to filming the frightening sequence. But I did find an old black and white photo of Sigourney Weaver, Ivan Reitman and one of the Deutschendorf twins on the set preparing to film the scene.
Happy New Year Minty! Awesome video. I too have loved GBII since I saw it in the cinema - ironically, here in Scotland. The only thing that tarnishes the movie for me now is knowing more about Von homburg. Truthfully, I reckon his real life antics were more evil than Vigo’s. I just co spider the real performance to be by Max Von Sydow anyway. Excellent follow up to GB and love your channel as always. Have a great year!
I prefer the first one, but, whereas it's not QUITE on the same level, it doesn't mean GB2 is a BAD film or even a bad sequel! It had some things I didn't like very much, such as the score (it's OK...just not Bernstein's, which I think would have absolutely brought the film up a few notches) or some tacked-in subplots like Louis' (I would have been fine without the Slimer/fifth ghostbuster stuff, and wish they'd added the whole psych ward subplot instead), but it's got more than its fair share of wonderful, unique, memorable moments. Some parts are genuinely creepy, and the scares work on a more raw, guttural level than those of the first. Also, I've always appreciated the further insight into the Ghostbusters' private, everyday life (the first movie was SO laser-focused on moving the plot forward that it never really touched upon what they do outside of work, other than maybe Peter). Of course, I must also mention the dual threat of Vigo and the slime, which I think are both insanely creepy and a very creative alternative to the first film's dimensional, cosmic horror (I do prefer Gozer as a form of evil beyond this world....but an evil sorcerer, and such a creepy, evil one at that, works!)
Really wish they'd included the additional scene with Tully vs Slimer! It would have made more sense. And you're right about the scene involving Vigo coming out of the painting. Also, having some foreshadowing for Ray's possession would have been MUCH appreciated, as it really came out of left field in the movie!
Totally agree Monty! MASSIVELY UNDERRATED. I’d go as far as to say there are parts that I actually prefer in GB2. Wish they had gone ahead and made GB3 without Murray! Considering what we got was GB Afterlife,…which TOTALLY wasn’t worth it.
Aykroyd had it out with studio head David Puttham in 1987 when David kicked Danny off the film Vibes. Originally, Aykroyd, who helped write the script with Spies Like Us & City Slickers scribes Ganz & Mandel, was set to star, but for one reason or another, he was replaced by Jeff Goldblum.
Ghostbusters 2 was one of those movies I was told to hate as a kid, But as an adult, I was surprised to find that I loved it, And it gets better the more I rewatch or think about it.
Would have been great if Bill Murray would've quit being a complete ass and did a 3rd film while they had the chance... (and Harold Reimis' good health) Thanks, Bill. You ruined the fans' hopes and dreams.
@@jamesduncan6729His reason for not doing a third was his not liking how 2 turned out but his willingness to be involved in the game and Afterlife shows his regret after all these years especially with Harold and Ivan passing.
@@jamesduncan6729 Hellbent sounded like hot garbage. Aykroyd needed Ramis to refine his insanity while writing. Murray did us all a favor. Also, LOVE the Pistols For Pandas image!!!!
I recently read someone suggested the Ray/Vigo driving scene was cut they thought so people wouldn't worry about if Ray could be trusted for the rest of the movie, which is interesting to me, yeah maybe watching that cut of the film it didn't play out how they thought it would on paper. Yeah I always thought it would make the connection to Ray's posession at the end stronger but maybe it was the way to go! Pacing was originally my thought as well.
I like GB2 as well. Yes, it's got some of those 4th wall moments where it feels like they're looking at the audience and winking...the birthday party at the beginning where they are dancing to Ray Parker Jr's theme being the worst....but the rest of it was fun. It really shows you what life in the firehall on an "ordinary" day was like, something we really experience in the Ghostbusters video game of 2009. Janosh gets hate too and I don't get it...Peter MacNicol is great. I love the flashlight eyes scene during the blackout. The ghostly nanny scene..not so much (Why would Janosh be a ghost?) The Pneumatic Transit scene, I'd daresay that's legendary and got a lot of people asking "Hey, did that actually exist?" (Yes it did, but not for long). Speaking of the video game there are a lot of tie-ins with Ghostbusters II, such as where the slime Vigo used actually came from. And of course the painting is in the video game and you can talk to it and get loads of "wisdom" from Vigo. And Ray's affinity for being possessed is a major part of the game (and also the butt of the jokes they make about him). I'm glad the script revisions put Winston where he belongs, as equals with the boys. I don't think I would have enjoyed Winston as a background character.
but, the new studio is cool, hope you filmed a lot of videos in it, that back ground is interesting, Stripe with the hoverboard, the masks up top, all the multi merch. AWESOME.
I've always enjoyed GB2. I especially like how they're all doing different things in the 1st act of the movie, having gone their separate ways after the 1st GB. I can understand why a lot of people poo poo it; it's basically just a beat for beat rehash of GB1 and due to its more kid-friendly script it feels more like Ghostbusters Lite instead of the adult sequel a lot of fans were wanting and expecting. I don't care what nobody says nothin' about it, it's still a fun movie, and better than most sequels.
What I liked about GB1 vs GB2 is that in the first there wasn't a real villain but rather that gozer was a manifestation. They could have done the same in 2. Vigo could have been the equivalent of the Marshmallow man, as in the evil takes the form of the painting due to circumstances. A key strength of the ghost busters universe is that they fight evil itself not evil beings.
I am saddened that the cast wasn't interested in continuing the Ghostbusters story. You hardly ever find people who will accept a prequel or sequel but I'm very glad to see they pulled it off.

It's a shame the Vigo stepping out of the painting scene never happened, would've loved to see that. That really does look creepy AF and Frickin awesome. That scene for sure would've given me hella nightmares as a kid.
Great video, as always, Minty!
The river of slime itself gave me plenty of nightmares.
@@diablojones Dude, the scene of Vigos head floating above the river of slime gave me nightmares.
well, he does kinda step out of it in the final scene, we just dont see him do it, its a cut-scene.
I can swear that when I saw the film at the cinema way back in 89, the scene where Luis asks Slimer "I'm not sure if you have a licence"....I swear Slimer said "Does it matter?"
I can totally imagine Bill Murray saying, "I'll only do it if they pay me ten million dollars." just to have the movie studio call him on his bluff.😆
Too hot to handle, too cold to hold
They're called the Ghostbusters and they're in control
Had 'em throwin' a party for a bunch of children
All the while the slime was under the building
So they packed up their group, got a grip, came equipped
Grabbed their proton packs off their back and they split
But what about VIGO, the master of Evil
Try to battle my BOYS? That's not Legal!!!

I too think GB2 is highly underrated, and I too agree that having Ray possessed by Vigo would add to the structure of GB2.
^ This is why you don't feed the trolls, kids. Also, don't do drugs, stay in school. ;)
agreed, I also think the scene they did leave in of rays initial possession whilst scanning the painting does the same thing though for the story we can understand why at the finale it happenss
One of my favorite parts of the Ghostbusters video game is when they're in the museum and hear Ray get possessed over the radio, and everyone treats like it's something that happens all the time.

Dig it Peter: Ray got possessed again.

My favorite one liners of GB™️II.❤👍💯
Some people just hate movies for weird reasons, and others jump on a bandwagon, because they can. I'm fond of turning to people who use "lots of people [insert action here]!" for justification of things with a simple, "That doesn't mean they're right". I'm totally with you and anyone else who likes Ghostbusters 2. It really is a good example of a sequel that's really not suffered from sequilitis as much as many others do. Kudos for finding the positivity in it, and trying to spread that around. May your 2023 be epic.
My reply to that so-called argument has been "What do you mean 'everyone'? Im part of everyone and I don't agree."
Oh and by the way, for anyone ignorant enough to claim that I don’t count the 2016 nonsense as canon “because girls,” _I am a woman!_
I’m not going to give unfunny bullshit a pass just because I share a gender with the leads.
I agree with the Tully subplot. It just didn't sit right. My daughter loves the 3rd one. But ghostbuster 2 is much favorite.

Would like to know how they got Cheech Marin to cameo in it. His "Better late then never" line during the Titanic scene was hilarious.
Probably a garbage bag full of greenery.
I saw Ghostbusters 2 in theaters back in 1989 and I recall a scene where Lewis Tully was chasing Slimer around the firehouse. It was then removed in the video version. It explains why Lewis says "oh its you!" When he sees Slimer driving the bus.
Superb film and one of the best ever. My son and I have a Vigo poster in the living room!
I loved how Ray’s spirit guide was John Belushi as Jake Blues.
@@diablojones Heck, there was even a 'Spies Like Us' reference. Also, the character who's name I cannot remember (who started the rival Ghost Smashers - another reference-) is an obvious nod to Chevy Chase and his rivalry with Bill Murray!
This sounds awesome! Do they reference the cartoon Extreme Ghost Busters at all?
@@TitularHeroine Oh, yeah. In fact Kaylie Griffin works at 'Ray's Occult,' and is sort of a squire to him and Egon.
I like the idea of having Jason and him being the baby's father transferring himself into every time. I also like the idea of the mother not being Dana, but still associated with her. It just feels better that way than her baby just happened to be one chosen out of the entire city.

Atari 8-Bit Ghostbuster Music is now stuck in my head 😂
I always liked Vego as a villain more than Gozar. Vego had more of a presence and just the painting really upped the creepy factor
Gozer was great for the first movie as a god not having that much character development and only appearing at the end adds to the mystique of gozer and fits handling a god that way while vigo being a human turned super powered spectre and making him more fleshed out and known earlier made him more intimidating due to him being not a god but a human.
Gozar came back in AFTERLIFE and it was Really cool
@@bridgetclement2968 Gozer never died
I can guarantee that I'm the only person on the planet who actually watched this movie last night. Then I watched 'Little Giants' because I needed more Rick Moranis. Lol
It blew my mind seeing this video pop up this morning.
Ghostbusters II has its faults but a lot of great scenes and characters, too. A terribly underrated movie.
Do you know what’s actually REALLY terrible?
The way that everybody on RUclips overuses the word “underrated!” Stop saying “Underrated!” Not only do they overuse it, they also misuse it and use it inaccurately
… besides, this movie isn’t that underrated anyway. So thanks for proving my point that “underrated” is used when it’s unnecessary yet again

@@diablojones YEAH! The bike mirror. I hadn't a clue to what that was or for!! THANKS!
If they’d left in Louis’ incompetent attempt at catching Slimer, that would give more context to the bit toward the end when Slimer pulls up driving the bus to take Louis to the museum. This was the two of them making up.
I absolutely loved seeing this in the cinema. My grandad took me and he had zero idea what he was watching 😅
Then he took over the show, relegating the GB’s to background characters. I love how he was still malevolent in the pilot though.
The Ghost of John Belushi
Judgement Day? Terminator 2 Judgement Day? That gets hated on?
I'm the same way with those sequels except for maybe Ninja Turtles because that movie stands up so well now. Major League 2, BBTF 2-3(because they were filmed together), Die Hard 2, Next Friday....all relatable watchable sequels of that era that aren't just derivative of the first one and still go somewhere new with the characters. Temple of Doom is obviously the best IJ film too btw.
I’m pretty sure Terminator 2 doesn’t get any hate
@@Rocky-fh9wb Yeah, it was probably imaginary people that said they didn't like it just because they liked the original better. But the other movies I swear "real" live people preferred the originals : )
@@JR-zp3nw I came to say the same thing lol. Terminator was great but Judgement Day was great turned up to eleven.
Ghostbusters was the first time I saw those American paper grocery bags - so its just awesome that one of the first things we see in GB2 is Dana carrying two of those very bags. That's the Ghostbusters I know and love!

Greetings from Germany 👋
Ok, I love GB 2 just as much as GB 1.... "We're back, we're beautiful, we're the only.........Ghostbusters" chills man, come on
I love the sequel but I would change a few things: making it more like horror the same as the first movie, making Danna's boss a descendent of Viggo, making the ghosts to be visible in the slime which looks something like the river Styx, making Viggo a more menacing villain where there is an epic showdown with the Ghostbusters which lasts more minutes than what we got and no tiger sounds coming from Vigo.
I know I checked out as a kid once it became Slimer AND The Real Ghostbusters.
The events of the sequel would be harder to rationalize since they walked the statue of liberty into Manhattan and left it there
Our news cycle alone today lasts a week, max. Five years and it’s a wonder people remember the last President.
Pretty much. The dark suits were used early in production and I think Reitman just wasn’t happy with the look of them.
Cheers Minty 🍻 stuff like this really makes me appreciate how much thought goes into some movies. I preferred this one over the 1st movie too.
12:24 "Being miserable and treating other people like dirt is every New Yorker's God-given right!"
When I got older and heard that line, I was on the FLOOR🤣🤣🤣🤣
I am much more fond of GBII than I was 20 years ago. It does things I do like such as Peter and Dana’s relationship feeling more genuine and the idea of the river of slime. That said, I do still have my problems with it and some of them are connected to these deleted scenes that you mentioned. Others included never liking the idea of the GBs being run out of business and/or people no longer believing them (despite the fact that thousands of people saw Stay-Puft back in ‘84) or the relationship between Louis and Janine. (Being an RGB fan I am a die-hard Egon/Janine shipper) ;)
The RGB episode was called “Banshee Bake A Cherry Pie” - a play on the phrase, “can she bake a cherry pie?”
Your analysis of GB2 was spot-on.
BS Winston is in the court in the deleted scenes
BellowD Gaming, wow, did not know that! That explains Winston's absence.
@@richjohns8283 I've never seen Winston in the court in _any_ of the deleted scenes. Can you tell us in which deleted scenes we might find Winston? Many thanks.
I remember seeing a courtroom cut scene w/ Winston as well. He was speaking to them right before court was in session.
This has to be one of the most positive reviews of Ghostbusters 2 out there. I agree that we need more positivity in the world today.
I loved Ghostbusters II, but I really like that second script where Vigo controlled Lady Liberty. The one seemed to make the most sense.
I love the Green Ranger Helmet in the background, R.I.P JDF
Holy hell some major childhood flashbacks with the Banshee from Darby O'Gill and the Little People.

Extra points for the banshee from "Darby O'Gill and the Little People." That's still a very good movie, too.
Your videos are superb thank you for all your time researching these great classic movies.

Love the james bond poster in the background Minty!
Nice one Mark, keep up the good work and making great videos. I used to love the cartoons but really hate the movies. Happy New Year, Minty.
Get some help.!
Tragic
Pretty downbeat
Poor Dayna, so overcome by spiritual influence, that she doesn't even realize she's holding that PKE mk2 upside-down.
but, the new studio is cool, hope you filmed a lot of videos in it, that back ground is interesting, Stripe with the hoverboard, the masks up top, all the multi merch. AWESOME.
9:44 - "Swarm" footage brings me back.
I love Ghostbusters II. Thanks for this wonderful video!
I think the Bill Murray reaction to Akroyd’s driving is hilarious.😂
Love the Max Von Sydow voice-over as Viggo which also the actor himself appeared as one of the" terrorists" in Die Hard.
The actor is also in the excellent In The Mouth Of Madness.
GB2 is my favorite of the originals. Their soundtrack is better than the original soundtrack
Sometimes movie franchises should just be left alone. The soul behind them is gone, now only the desire for profit drives them forward.
