As a little boy I fell in love with the 1st movie. It was the first time I watched a movie and felt wrapped up by the characters, the comedy, the effects and the music all at once. The first time I wanted to dance during a movie. Next was Beverly Hills Cop and these 2 movies were why I spent the 80s constantly begging mum and dad for trips to the movies.

Born in 1980, I'm a 43 year old Hong Kong dude who grew up with Ghostbusters. I'll never forget the joy and excitement the original movie brought to my childhood, along with my love for all the 80's action figures, the cartoon, the song, and even the video games (and yes, even the nes version, but mostly the Genesis one), and now as an adult, I find myself still collection Mezco ghostbusters, and still lookin at pictures of Ecto-1 as well as proton packs and ghost traps merchandises online. The shot of Egon's ghost at the end of Afterlife brought me to tears, and this franchise will hold a special place in my heart.

Born in the early 80s, I came into this world watching Ghostbusters. I obsessed over the movie and cartoon when I was a kid so much it became a part of me. I had all of the toys and action figures, too. Even at 41 I still pop in my Blu-ray collection of GB1 & 2 like I used to do with the VHS tapes so many years ago, and I enjoy watching it so much more as an adult. I just got through watching them again and the nostalgia always leaves me wanting more. Of course, I had to watch a documentary on the history of the franchise, and that's how I ended up here. I always wondered why the original cast never made a 3rd movie, and now I know why. As solid and worthy as Afterlife and Frozen Empire are to be Ghostbusters films, they did well enough in the transition to a new generation, which is a lot less arbitrary than changing the characters completely like in the all-female cast. But, even with that, The Ghostbusters, to me, will always be Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson. I wish they could have made a successful final sequel before Harold Ramis died. I always thought it would be awesome if one of the Ghostbusters movies could have taken a much darker, more serious epic horror-film-like path. Maybe that would be a great idea for a 8-part series one day.

While the original movies might have sexism in them, it never portrayed it as being an okay way to behave, which I felt the 2016 movie very much did. It just reinforced the often claimed idea that feminism is about attacking men, rather than treating everyone with respect.

So did I when you're a kid you don't notice that shit especially back then with no internet.
Like a lot of franchises that only really have 2 films (not counting the recent two) there's shit you like better about the second film and there's shit you like better about the first film.
What's another movie that only had 2 parts?
      Oh YEAH... Home Alone! 🤐😂

I've watched Ghostbusters since I was in the first grade, I'm 21 going on 22 and after this long I've finally made the decision to buy a proton pack kit!! It's looking absolutely beautiful but still in the process of building it, I'm trying to be as close as possible to making what the production team for the second movie called a "semi hero" which mine will be my own personal version but also keeping it movie accurate. I've actually enjoyed this video especially the history with the third movie that was never made, I've actually heard about this a long time ago but still remember the details wishing Harold would've loved longer to make it happen

My Ghostbusters fandom goes back to The Real Ghostbusters cartoon. I was born in the mid 80's so was too young for the original film but vividly remember the cartoon first. Ghostbusters 2 was probably the first Ghostbusters film i saw.
I loved Afterlife, i thought it was a perfect sequel, emotional and stayed true to the original. Frozen Empire, whilst i enjoyed it i felt it was too much of a leap. There was a lot going on, i smiled all the way through it but felt at the end there should of been a movie between Afterlife and Frozen Empire. It's definitely my least favourite of the 4 "canon" films

I remember when I was a just 7-8 years old, me, my older sister who was 9-10 at the time went with my dad, to the local store to rent out videos of The Real Ghost Busters old classic cartoons on the old VHS tapes, I basically grew up watching those cartoons after school everyday. I used to love watching the old classic Real Ghost Busters cartoons. Never seen any of the remakes, I have the first two films on DVD & BD Blue Ray Disc set, I still love the first two movies, you know what they say, they don't make em like they used to.
Films nowadays tend to be not made with the same kind of feel to them, everything's different now, it's a different generation, didn't feel the same to films now than when it was back then. I love the older films of Ghost Busters.

Yeah, movies do feel different. I can't tell if it's nostalgia clouding my judgment or if it's objectively worse. Movies feel way to corporate these days.

Yeah I am a lot older than my partner and by the time it came out I was too old for it but she had me watching Shrek one night to experience something she grew up with.
So I wanted her to experience something I grew up with so I had her watch the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film with me.
Yeah they just HIT different back then much more adult themed, darker & grittier.
      We would eventually watch Ghostbusters 1 & 2. :)

Even if they did, how was there time for it to fail compared to Ghostbusters? And I tell you what... That movie was so powerful and highly influenced me at that age... it is an icon in my mind, forever as is the story and the characters. It was pure brilliance. It is a MUST see movie.

    Ghostbusters has huge potential!
I would love to see other GhostBuster movies made.
When GB 2016 came out, I wrote a script on how to fix it. Maybe I will share that story later. Other co-workers loved it, but said they didn't like GB 2016 movie enough to save it.
For a new GB movie plot:
The dates of the Gozer temple are very important. I was writing a script that tied in real life into the 1883, 1908, and 1945 dates. It connected how Egon knew "don't cross the streams" and Ray picking up instantly on the "total protonic reversal", how it closed the last two previous Gozer portals.
My script was based on Gozer being the precursor of a larger entity who allowed Gozer to secure the realm first. Because Gozer didn't return, it meant Gozer was the dominion of earth ushering in this new adversary.
So understanding what Egon had been researching leads to the library lady holding the secrets to total protonic reversal of another Mad Scientist who closed an internal dimensional portal in Tunguska 1908.
These group of paranormal inquisitors were in-part some of the inspiration Egon and Ray had when they met in college.
The concept of crossing the streams originated from interconnecting beams of lights. One beam was a transmitter and the other was a receiver, but both connected through the ionosphere to conduct massive high frequency spectral power. Since the ionization rate of ghosts were not discovered at this time, the thought was to create an overwhelmirng beam of ionized particles to change the ionization of the ghosts, then overwhelm the ghost ionization with supercharged electrostatic spectral frequencies. Connecting two light beams together caused the underpowered receiver to act as a backfire conduit for the stronger beam. Hence crossing the beams meant one would overpower the other and cause the weaker beam to explode gat thre speed of light as it did in Tunguska 1908 (still a misunderstood event)
Using the magnetic north the team set up the weaker beam aligned to the magnetic north to create an Aurora Borealis effect of which the stronger transmitter aimed at the magnetic north of the Aurora Borealis, this created an around the globe charged firing weapon into the Tunguska Gozer portal.
The library lady was given the plans charged with safeguarding these secrets in a book the librarian ghost lady is often seen reading.
She was murdered to obtain the backfiring protonic reversal device. But after death, she warned the team that Ivo Shandor was hunting them after making contact through a spirit listening device in a high frequency laboratory in New York she knew about.
Nikola Tesla's life spans through 1883 to 1943.
Tesla read many books his father gave to him, one was about ancient Samarian gods and Tesla was fascinated with the paranormal (essentially copying Dan Aykroyd's life fascination in the paranormal). Tesla used his earthquake machine to create the 1883 Krakatoa eruption to stop Gozer the first time as a cover for traveling abroad. Then Tesla created a weapon which would vaporize spectral entities instead of trapping them (a divergence of Ghostbusters trapping them to escape later). This technology was shared only with a few people including the librarian ghost lady.
The 1945 return of Gozer leads the crew to operate the portal closing device, but without the inventor who died 2 years prior. The portal is closed, but kill the remaining two crew who were also being hunted down by Ivo Shandor. So the only one who knows of this technology is a dead librarian (of whom the GB have not caught). The 1945 plan to stop Gozer succeed, but Ivo barely excaped.
I've Shandon rebuilt the penthouse in the first GB movie.
Ray and Winston help the new GBs and GB engineering redesign the Storage facility to parcel out Gozer into separate containers and figure out how to extract partial entities from the firehouse storage facility.
The GB group have to study what Egon had knowledge of and talk with the librarian ghost lady for the secrets to stop this new advisory.
The Ghostbusters will have to build a new mobile platform and find a way how to power the protonic reversal device from their collective creative geniuses.
It could be a two part movie.
Everything listed is based on real science and an alternate Nikola Tesla theory to the Tunguska blast that fits in nicely to the back story of Egon, Tesla, the librarian lady, and the Ghost Corps universe.
    What are your thoughts?
