You should watch a video of Kenny and Lionel singing this song together. Rogers talks about how the song came about. It's a funny story. But you can also see the love, respect and admiration those two had for one another. Keep in mind, this was in 1980. Kenny was known for this type of vocal style back then. Hope you are keeping well. My dad had an amazing tenor voice. He looked like a cross between Kenny and Elvis in his youth, and was approached with offers to make records and tour. But he had no desire for fame or fortune, he wanted a quiet life, and so he spent his life singing in church, with his sisters, brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles and cousins. He used his voice for the glory of God, and when he passed, a houseful of people came to sing him home. Whenever I tell someone he’s my dad, they tell me a story about how he helped them out or just say he was such a good friend. I’ve seriously never heard a bad word about him. I think he could have been a huge hit, he was that talented and that charismatic, but I’m thankful everyday he chose to be my dad. Big shoes to fill.
Maybe it’s because she’s not listening to it as a woman but as a coach. She’s missing the emotion because she’s trying to analyze every word. You can’t do that with Kenny Rogers 😍
Daniel Ramos EXACTLY!! That’s what I said also. She’s listening as a “coach”. This isn’t The Voice. Kenny already won, bypassed everyone, and showed men in 1985 how to talk to your Lady. Well him and Lionel ☺️. I was only 10 in 85 but I’m 45 now and I know now why my momma had this record playing all the time. God bless 🙏🇺🇸
His voice always made me feel like someone gave me a hug. He was a true gentleman. So many women were so in love with him. It was like he sang to you alone
I must say that he was very gray/white haired for 42 which makes him look much older, im turning 49 this year and while i have quite a bit of graying in my beard my hair has more a few single hairs here an there that are gray which you pretty much only see in certain lighting conditions, at 40 i didnt have any gray hairs. He was a very good looking man though and the gray/white suited him and he could also sing like a god. I remember the big classic hits from my childhood and even though my main interest in music is very different i have a weak spot for such songs and as a musician and songwriter myself i have great respect for both the songwriting and singing performance. Beautiful song and stellar performance. RIP Kenny Rogers

The night after Kenny Rogers passed my wife and I stayed up all night playing cards, drinking, reminiscing and crying. What a ton of youthful memories and good & bad times. Another icon gone to the wind.
This was a brand new song for his Greatest Hits album - that was number one on my Christmas list that year - And my 12-year-old self played that thing for hours and hours and hours ... I still have it, 40 years later.
I highly recommend Ronnie Milsap's Any Day Now or any of his hits really, for a video reaction. It's great to see the breadth of genres you cover. Awesome!

I saw Kenny twice when I was a kid. My mom LOVED his music so she took me to two concerts. After all these years and after all the concerts I’ve been to since then, I can honestly say that Kenny Rogers put on the finest concert with the most unrivaled quality that I have ever seen. He was so fussy about the performance, and such a perfectionist, everything had to be “Just Right”. You definitely got your money’s worth and then some.
It´s amazing how much emotion he manages to pour into this song, listening to other versions put´s it into perspective. No one makes this a "cry song" like Kenny does.

😢 I'm sad for my Aunt. She was gutted when he passed. Thank you for doing this. xxx
Kenny Rogers is my all time favorite singer. Lady is my personal favorite song by him as well. And it is one of my favorite songs to sing. I’m very happy that you recognized Kenny by reacting to Lady. Thank you.
Stay safe, healthy and have a blessed week...
🎶🌹🎤🙂
That live duet is an incredible moment in music history - goosebumps.
@@kellylaflash1016 ~ Definitely. I loved watching the two of them on stage together...
What an incredible man! He had a very good voice. I loved it! Very good! Thank you for posting this Rebecca! RIP Kenny Rogers!!❤️❤️xxxx
I was about 7 when this came out. For me, It kind of ushered in the 80's.
Miss you already Kenny. Thanks for being a part of my life.
You are so adorable, Rebecca!
R.I.P. Kenny Rogers.
I grew up listening to this song. I love it still. RIP Kenny. I adored your singing, and it’s like loosing family.
I don't know why I am a fan of Kenny Rogers, I just am 👀 Try "Coward of The Country"
“Coward of the county”
This is for me the most beautiful love song ever written. It identifies me in so way that I’ve got chills and wish to die at that very moment. Thanks for the react.
This is not an audition for The Voice.
21 Number one hits, Album of the year, Single of the year, 2 Grammys, movies.
I think this American musical legend was greatly loved and will be missed.
R.I.P. gambler. Also no auto-tune or bs computer trash.
So, commercial success is more important? By that flawed logic, Madonna is better than Aretha
@@popland1977 Like it or not, PEOPLE or the masses, decide who's great and who isn't,,not a insignificant vocal coach. You don't win Grammy awards if you're not voted to do so by professional peers. You're analogy makes no sense? Aretha Franklin was just as recognized and accomplished as Madonna? We are not comparing one singer vs another Kenny Rogers was a great singer and her opinion of his voice, after a highly successful six plus decade career is moot.
@@clydeb7713 you are a dense prick, art is not a contest, awards mean nothing, personal opinions are the only thing that does matter, you couldn't be more wrong! Rebecca's opinion is not insignificant, but YOU are an ASS.
@@charlieo.possum5501 Listen jerk! You are as insignificant as she is. You are the prime example of how opinions are like assholes --- Everybody has one!
Vocal coach RUclipsrs are like professors in college. They couldn't succeed in their craft or what they studied, so they "teach" it.
I don’t understand how anyone could give a thumbs down.
Maybe it’s because she’s not listening to it as a woman but as a coach. She’s missing the emotion because she’s trying to analyze every word. You can’t do that with Kenny Rogers 😍
The thumbs down is for the ridiculous critique. Kenny's voice is iconic. It needs no critique. Just listen and be moved by the song.
Maybe it's Luke Bryan's of the country music world today not liking how REAL TALENT makes them look so pathetic lol
His voice always made me feel like someone gave me a hug. He was a true gentleman. So many women were so in love with him. It was like he sang to you alone
Kenny Rogers was 42 when Lady was released in 1980.
@@Stefan- Well everyone is different, gray hair probably runs in his family. At least he had hair, my father lost his before he was 25 years old! I've never seen him with hair. I'm almost 48 and have a lot of grey! Stay safe!
I was 11 then.i remember hearing it
My dad had hair and a beard like his. He went grey, like me in his late twenties.
Ahh, Kenny.... I was born in '74, so I remember being a little kid in the early '80s and my mom was so in love with him! Mom passed this last November and your video brought back so many good memories of his music playing throughout the house while she was doing her day! Thank you for the good stuff keeping me entertained whilst in seclusion. Stay safe, lovely lady!
His country stuff was all fine and dandy but Kenny's death metal masterpiece, "I Absolutely, Positively, Unequivocally F*cking Hate Squirrels... Except To Eat!", is an classic. I rank it right up there with "Abbey Road", "Thriller", "Lemonade" and "Disco Duck".
Link? :O
Wait, I’m lost. Is this real?
@@fridz66 lol
naw, he's just joking...and made me chuckle.
*edit*
I just did a quick google search, and the *ONLY* thing that came up, was a link to this video...lol...that was it, blank page and this vid :-D
I tried a Yahoo search, and got normal, 'full', pages, but nothing anywhere near M McBride's line, and after looking at a couple pages, not even a link this vid, lol
I still like the line tho...lol
You are one of the best at what you do and i enjoy your smiles and the colorful way you use so many words to get your point across.
when his voice starts to break up, it sounds like someone who is trying hard to speak while choking up with emotion
She should just stop pausing the video and listen to the song with an unanalytical ear ,she almost sucked the emotion out of this song .I am sitting here with tears in my eyes and she said ,I got emotional , ,,when? I won't be back to her channel ,cheers bud and take care .Jamal aka Jamel is cool ,check out his channel.
I don't always go there, but when I do, I go with Kenny Rogers... lol I saw him live about that same era.. my first concert... blew my mind!!!
Love Rebecca’s positivity. She is really great.
So glade I got to meet and see him live , a real genuine and loving person . He was not fake, this is all him . It’s the way he was. R.I.P
Kenny "pantie dropper" Rogers! You've got to react to the video of Kenny and Lionel Ritchie singing this song together. The bond between Kenny and Lionel on stage when they sing it together is so powerful and moving!
The night after Kenny Rogers passed my wife and I stayed up all night playing cards, drinking, reminiscing and crying. What a ton of youthful memories and good & bad times. Another icon gone to the wind.
Great job Rebecca!! You’re so beautiful!! Stay safe!! 😉😘😍🥰♥️
Awesome!
Thanks for keeping us entertained with your reactions here in New Zealand as we go into lock down.take care beautiful lady
You never count your money

Thank for reacting to this Music Legend!
He brings back the incredible music I heard during his lifetime
in music and also,"memories of
my youth!
As Vince Gill sang once...

Kenny,Your work is Done!
RIP. 💖
That man's voice *swooning* LOL Rebecca, yes his suit...*swoon* with me Rebecca, yes yes he is handsome, I agree as I wipe my mouth with my drool bib
When he says the words "Is where" towards the end of the song..he hits something deep in the heart. I can't explain it. It's just so real, real love.
Lionel did good with this lyrics but Kenny’s voice makes it perfect
I saw Kenny twice when I was a kid. My mom LOVED his music so she took me to two concerts. After all these years and after all the concerts I’ve been to since then, I can honestly say that Kenny Rogers put on the finest concert with the most unrivaled quality that I have ever seen. He was so fussy about the performance, and such a perfectionist, everything had to be “Just Right”. You definitely got your money’s worth and then some.
I would love to hear Chis Stapleton cover this song in tribute to Kenny but with his own style.
It´s amazing how much emotion he manages to pour into this song, listening to other versions put´s it into perspective. No one makes this a "cry song" like Kenny does.
What a great song and a great artist he can just stand there basically and deliver a song like that is a true artist RIP Kenny Rogers, I hope you are looking after yourself Rebecca stay safe
Listening to Kenny makes me think back to days of growing up. My father enjoyed many different artists and certainly liked Kenny. I remember sitting and listening to KR and my father sing along with him. Ruby, The Gambler and Lady were 3 of his favorites. May they both rest in peace. Thanks for this.
Rest in Peace Kenny Rogers🙏❤
Hi madam! Can you feature Whitney Houston to your next video. She is the "The Greatest Voice of All Time". Many called her as "The Voice" and NO QUESTION FOR THAT. Guiness World recognized her as "The Most Awarded Female-Act of All Time". In every report of who are the best singers of all time, she's always in the list.
"If not the best, probably one of the best singers of all time"
- Aretha Franklin
"The Greatest Voice of All Time"
- Baby Face
"No one could beat her during the past decades (her prime) , not Mariah, not Celine."
- Dianne Sawyer
She also influenced some of the greatest legends and to be legends soon such as: Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Jennifer Hudson, Brandy, Kelly Rowland, Nicki Minaj, Christina Aguillera, Ariana Grande, Alicia Keys, Britney Spears and many more
As a big fan of Whitney Houston, kindly react to some of her perfomances that I considered as my top 10 among her best😘😘😘

Being born in and from Nashville TN country music USA I'll just say he is/was loved very much. I grew up listening to him. A very nice n humble man. RIP Kenny
I can see it on your expression, while still trying to be the vocal coach, you find the lyrics touching. Just my opinion. I enjoy watching this generations ladies reacting to this song. It seems almost every one of them touch their arm or neck. I think it's a bit of a chill. Again ,just my opinion. Thank you.
Yes, many panties dropped to this song.

Kenny Rogers was my grandma's favorite singer and now that Im an old folk I know why. With his looks and charisma on stage you knew he was a man's man
Interesting to hear you do a review of Kenny Rogers. I was a fan of the group The First Edition, of which Kenny was a founding member. I saw them in concert back in the early 70s. Had no idea at the time that he would become such s superstar.
Check out The First Edition sometime, for fun.

Thank you for your work. Now that I have so much time, I'm starting to watch old reactions you did, I'm enjoying them very much and I'm not a singer, but music IS my religion.
Thank you for being a little light in these lonely times.
The "vocal fry" is just part of our southern accent. We call it "gravel".
a very beautiful review. Thank you for you kind words for Legend Kenny Rogers.
