My dad called my mom, Lady, my entire life. Every card, every note, was 'To My Lady' in reference to this song. I'm almost 50 yrs now, and dad passed in Dec/22. This song means so much to me now. ❤
And that is the way the song should be thought of, what it does to the heart, the soul, and the devotion to your true love. This song was first sung by Lionel Richie & I used to dream that someday, some how, someone would think of me that way. Then Kenny re-made it and those feelings came back. At least I know there are those out there that have experienced, cherished, and respected those once in a lifetime loves. Thank you so much for sharing. You and your parents are so very blessed.
Now you must watch the version of Kenny & Lionel doing it together in Las Vegas, at MGM Grand, in 2012, a few years before Kenny passed. Lionel was being honored and Kenny told the story of this song & the love & 30 year friendship between them is such a beautiful thing to see. Then they do it together. Makes me cry no matter how many times I see it. 'Old Kenny' still was amazing. Lionel also recorded this beauty. Kenny sings another love song like this called 'through the years' & is perfect for couples. Another beauty. (And that last note got the ladies! LOL)
When our daughter was born on 1980, Lady was the #1 hit. At that moment, my husband decided that if the baby was a girl this would be the song he would dance with her at her wedding. Fast forward to July of 2006 and the father daughter dance was to Lady. He was so thrilled to dance to this amazing song with his lil Lady at her wedding.
Whenever my husband and I would here this song, he would tell me that I was his lady. He didn't vocalize his feelings all the time, but when he did, he meant it! He's been gone for almost 21 yrs now but I still get tears when I listen to this. Thank you!
As a guy who grew up in the late 70s I can remember my dad playing this on the record player and I believe we had it on 8 track as well. I think of my parents every time I hear this song.
Young people these days always feel sorry for us older people because we didn't have all the things they have today, but I feel sorry for all you young ones because you didn't live through the music of the 60s, 70s, and 80s....... What a blessing!!!
To the young lady reacting to “Lady”, I have never seen a woman not even get moved by this song of love that Kenny has for his “Lady”. Yet to the young man, bravo, you got it. That was so nice to see. The fact that you wanted to surprise your “Lady” with this song was beautiful yet she didn’t seem to get that. 🥺🥺🥺
Kenny Rogers concert was my first date with a man who became my husband. This was our 1st dance song at the wedding. We were married 29 1/2 years when he passed away.
I always loved Kenny Rogers and this will always be my favorite song sang by him. It was always kinda my song to sing along with to my wife when it would come on the radio or such. She passed away almost 2 years ago now and I just sat here trying to sing along but crying most of it heh. This will, in my opinion, always be the ultimate love song.
Kenny Rogers, that voice with his rasp and those songs... It will always be sexy and never ever feel tired and old. An awful lot of babies were made to this mans voice. He and Lionel have always been 2 of my all time favorites and it's no surprise they were such wonderful friends.
Another lovely ballad he does is, "You've Decorated My Life" and you have to check out "Islands in the Stream" with Dolly Parton as others have said below. Loved your reaction! This is one of my favorite live performances.
Iconic Kenny Rogers made musical history! Thank you for experiencing this classic! Have you done his: The Gambler? It's metaphorically priceless! And Islands in the Stream duet with Dolly Parton?
Please, please watch the video years later of Kenny Rogers and Lionel Richie singing this song on stage together . Love your reactions. I feel you. PS, will be 70 in March. I’ve lived all the classic rock you’re looking at and experiencing for the first time. Magical reactions to songs I’ve enjoyed for over 50 years.
For more than a minute back in the day, this was the quintessential song for the first dance at so many weddings. Yes, that was before romance was replaced with raunch. Kenny did a duet with Dolly you should check out called Islands In The Stream.
One of those wonderful, ultimate love songs. Makes me feel so good. I enjoyed watching you two reacting to it - great banter; made me feel really happy for you.
I think at least for me, we were exposed to many types of music back in the 70's, R&B, Motown, Heavy Metal, Pop, Disco, Country, etc. Kenny started out as Rock and Roll, I saw him in concert as Kenny Rogers and the First Edition. He was in a buckskin outfit and his hair was long and thought he was gorg. Mom had taken myself and a few of my friends to his concert and I said to her, isn't he handsome? She was not impressed. Little did she know how really handsome he become and that even though his music was country, most of the time it went mainstream to all. That growl in his voice is something he was known for. RIP Kenny.
What amazes me is no one remembers his band, The First Edition. LOL My husband and I were together a little over 34 years. He sang this to me (and a John Lennon song that was on the tip of my brain until I started writing...Woman!). We didn’t have enough time together. I have people who come to see me because of medical issues. Every one of them say I should clear off what was his side of the bed. When I explain I leave it with laptops and blankets and clothes because even now, four years after his very unexpected death, I would turn to that side of the bed to hold him. It takes days to get over the fact he's not there and never will be again. Thank you for the sweet memories you brought me of my beloved'.
This Disco years were great but when this came out in 80 it reminded us that a love song like this, a lovers slow dance, is sooooo much better. Best Love Song EVER!!!
Lionel was writing this song and the name of it was "Baby". He and Kenny we talking and Kenny told Lionel that he had met a real Lady that he was smitten with and Lionel changed the name of the song to "Lady".
I used to do Kareoke back in the 90s. I did a lot of Bob Seger, Joe Cocker, Bryan Adams and Rod Stewart songs. But when I would do this, I would literally get phone numbers tossed at me in the club while on stage. Kenny has a magic about him that translates to women incredibly.
A little known story about this song. Kenny and Lionel were in the studio and Kenny kept singing the song but he wasn't happy with the way that it was sounding. Then his wife walked in. He sang the song to her and it was perfect. That is the way that he sang the song from then on.
I had the biggest crush on Kenny Rogers in high school. I got to see him live at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo on my 25th birthday. The best birthday ever. He is from Houston. I still can just mellow out while listening to Kenny. ❤
Everytime I hear Kenny Rogers I think of my dad and us driving in his car when my two brothers and I were little listening to him my dad has been gone 4 years now he was 77 so thank you for the great memories
Kenny sang a lot of different genres and didn’t hit it big until he started singing country songs. He has always had a great voice but his country songs just hit different in a very special way. I had the pleasure to see him in Dolly in concert back in the day! What a great concert!!
Slow dancing to this song...the best. I remember Kenny from his days on Saturday morning TV in Houston. Kenny Rogers and the First Edition. Ah, the memories.
There was an owner of a Corvette dealership in my hometown of Jacksonville Florida that was a dead ringer for Kenny Rogers. When he went to a restaurant or store, it caused a small riot with the ladies swarming him. I saw it happen it a mall once and it was hilarious.
This song brings me to tears every damn time. What an accomplishment of songwriting (Lionel Richie) and singer (Kenny Rogers). If I was a woman, i would LOVE someone to sing this to me.
Kenny started on a pop/folk band called Kenny Rogers and the first edition in the late 60's. Some of his songs are from then. The big one is "Just dropped in to see what condition my condition is in". Ive listened to him since that time.
Another great reaction. You've already reacted to some of the best of Kenny, Coward of the County, The Greatest and The Gambler. Time for you to step it up with a Duet. Please look for Islands in the Stream with Dolly Parton.
I was SO BLESSED to see Kenny in concert many times!! He first performed this when married to wife, Marianne and played a video of her giving birth to their son Christopher while he sung this...there wasn't a dry eye in the place!❤ RIP Kenny!!
Kenny performed this sooo good. That said, lyrically, you can close your eyes and see Lionel sing this through Kenny. The Lyrics are 100% Lionel, no mistake!
I was actually lucky enough to see Kenny Rogers performed this song live. He unexpectedly showed up at the show venue my family and I were at and decided to perform a few songs. He wasn't scheduled to be there so it was pure luck that we got to see him. And it's still one of my absolute favorite concert memories..
Written and produced by the man who is perhaps the greatest writer of love songs in the R&B/R&R era. Try Lionel doing "Still", "Sail One", "Easy", "Zoom (with The Commodores)", "Truly", "My Love", "You Are", and "Three Times A Lady' and "Just To Be Close To You (both also with The Commodores)". All big hits, since Lionel had 5 number one hits.
One of the greatest singers.a song he does no one has reacted to is King of Oak Street. It is an awesome song. Rest in peace. THANKS FOR THE MUSIC YOU LEFT FOR US TO ENJOY
I never reply, but u guys made my day. Watched Freddie Mercury 4 10000000th time. Wanted 2 see ur reaction. Love u both. U guys are awesome!!!! Cheered me up. Thank u❤❤❤
I was fortunate to see Kenny in concert. He had this stage with the band in middle. He was able to walk around and involve the whole arena. Incredibly fun show.
ALL the ladies were in love with Kenny back in the day! My 16 year old babysitter loved him so much and even had the Kenny Rogers “Lady” blue jeans and I thought she was so cool! My dad used to play Kenny Rogers’s songs on his guitar and sing with me and my sisters when we were little. Kenny was country music royalty! ❤
My dad called my mom, Lady, my entire life. Every card, every note, was 'To My Lady' in reference to this song. I'm almost 50 yrs now, and dad passed in Dec/22. This song means so much to me now. ❤

what a beautiful memory of your parents. Yay you.
That is so sweet!!! My parents will be celebrating their 67th anniversary in March. Long marriages always amaze me. God bless!
How lovely!!!! The first few notes always give me goosebumps. Legendary artist and song ❤
Seems Lost on You Both

Yes, this is a great video clip. I have watched many times.
Yes the Lionel and Kenny video is the very best. Hope they check that one out , even on their own. They did have a beautiful friendship.
YES!!! It's like watching two masters play tennis. It's such a beautiful rendition and their love for each other as friends is palpable.
I have to say seeing Lionel and Kenny sing this song was so beautiful, seeing the respect, friendship, and love makes me teary-eyed every time.
When Kenny debuted this song...1.6 million babies were conceived.
Nice 👍🙂
I love how he tells you someone else wrote the song and then sings it and you believe he means every word he says. Great artist ❤
and why are they having a discussion about karaoke in the middle of this beautiful song ?
Whenever my husband and I would here this song, he would tell me that I was his lady. He didn't vocalize his feelings all the time, but when he did, he meant it! He's been gone for almost 21 yrs now but I still get tears when I listen to this. Thank you!

amen
I was extremely lucky, I lived thru 60's twice. Think about it.
Kenny is second to none! Grew up watching my Dad dance with my Mom to this as he'd sing it to her. She'd be smiling ear to ear. ❤❤
Lionel Richie is a great song writer. Kenny was the epitomy of romantic singers. This great hit will never be outdone.
Other than by Lionel Richie singing 3 Times A Lady!
I sang this song to my wife, my daughter was born 9 months later ! That tells it all !
lol true romantic.
Absolutely agree!
I also thought that if she recognized the effect on her husband she would
also understand his feelings towards her ??
I agree! Very weird.
You realize how many kids were born 9 months after this was released. Women melted to this song back then, and I would suppose a few still do.
Kenny Rogers concert was my first date with a man who became my husband. This was our 1st dance song at the wedding. We were married 29 1/2 years when he passed away.
His growl is everything! Perfect for the song!
I always loved Kenny Rogers and this will always be my favorite song sang by him. It was always kinda my song to sing along with to my wife when it would come on the radio or such. Legendary is the right word for Kenny. Such a beautiful voice.
Kenny Rogers, that voice with his rasp and those songs... It will always be sexy and never ever feel tired and old. An awful lot of babies were made to this mans voice. He and Lionel have always been 2 of my all time favorites and it's no surprise they were such wonderful friends.
"Lady", is the most romantic song ever written and sung. Thank you, Lionel and Kenny.
He’s was such a wonderful singer I had the pleasure of meeting him such a wonderful man R.I.P. Kenny you will be so missed love you always
"She Believes in Me" is another Kenny Roger's must listen to...
Kenny Rogers started as a Rock artist in the 1960's with a group called the First Edition. He was good back then also.
Wasn’t he with The New Christy Minstrels?
This is one of the greatest love songs ever written.
He sings it beautifully ❤❤Sadly missed …
Fun fact: Lionel and Kenny were very good friends with the utmost respect for each other and each other's talent. Lifelong, wonderful friendship.

Reminds me of waking up and hearing a commercial for hits and hearing this song playing lol
Islands in the stream that is
Beautiful song. I have ALWAYS LOVED KENNY.
all his music is great.
"YOU CAN'T MAKE OLD FRIENDS." THE BEST EVER!
I always crushed on Kenny. His hair, beard and stash. Love it.
Kenny was also an amazing photographer. What a voice that man had. Legend.
My favorite version of this is Kenny singing it with Lionel Richie. You can tell the love they had for each other!
You Decorated My Life.
She Believes In Me.
Both by Kenny also, and in the same style.
Don’t fall in love with a dreamer gets my feels good
One of those wonderful, ultimate love songs. Makes me feel so good. I enjoyed watching you two reacting to it - great banter; made me feel really happy for you.
This was such a wedding song back in the day. Love Kenny Rogers and all the memories this song stirs.

Beautiful silver fox right there. I love his voice. Perfect son writing by Mr Ritchie.

I love the way they we're talking and kenny laid down that first "Lady" and he put up his finger like "hold on"😂😂❤❤
Definitely go check out the live version of Kenny and Lionel singing this together! So cool!!
No woman could resist. Powerless under this song.
My earliest memories are watching my parents dance to this song in our kitchen.
Kenny rogers vocals are just so unique and beautiful. This song is such a classic , romantic gorgous song
Her reaction was pricelessly honest.
This Disco years were great but when this came out in 80 it reminded us that a love song like this, a lovers slow dance, is sooooo much better. Best Love Song EVER!!!
Kenny Rogers is not my era, but I have to say...his voice!! Never fails...
Lionel was writing this song and the name of it was "Baby". He and Kenny we talking and Kenny told Lionel that he had met a real Lady that he was smitten with and Lionel changed the name of the song to "Lady".
Sebs… thanks for doing this. I sang this to my wife at our wedding almost 32 years ago.
This man knows how to be sensual without being disrespectful he is a true romantic.
A little known story about this song. Kenny and Lionel were in the studio and Kenny kept singing the song but he wasn't happy with the way that it was sounding. Then his wife walked in. He sang the song to her and it was perfect. That is the way that he sang the song from then on.
LOVE IT!!! You should give a listen to the video of Kenny and Lionel doing this one together!!!!
I had the biggest crush on Kenny Rogers in high school. I got to see him live at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo on my 25th birthday. The best birthday ever. He is from Houston. I still can just mellow out while listening to Kenny. ❤
Kenny and Dolly singing Islands in the Stream is one to not miss.
The words every woman wants to hear!❤️
A lot of people don't know that Kenny got his start as a rock and roll artist.
Everytime I hear Kenny Rogers I think of my dad and us driving in his car when my two brothers and I were little listening to him my dad has been gone 4 years now he was 77 so thank you for the great memories

Slow dancing to this song...the best.

Makes me think of my wife. 34 years, wow. Without her I would no doubt become a bum, for lack of a better word. Great video, great reaction.
This song brings me to tears every damn time. What an accomplishment of songwriting (Lionel Richie) and singer (Kenny Rogers). If I was a woman, i would LOVE someone to sing this to me.

Kenny sings to every lady in person
One of the all-time classic love songs! Lionel Ritchie classic beautifully sung and performed by Kenny Rogers.
This was played at our wedding.. Almost 42 years ago
Another great reaction. You've already reacted to some of the best of Kenny, Coward of the County, The Greatest and The Gambler. Time for you to step it up with a Duet. Please look for Islands in the Stream with Dolly Parton.

I sang this to my bride at our wedding in 1983
Kenny was what you call the king of the silver foxes!!
Kenny performed this sooo good. That said, lyrically, you can close your eyes and see Lionel sing this through Kenny. The Lyrics are 100% Lionel, no mistake!
RIP KENNY ROGERS - March 20, 2020 -
