Kenny charted more than 120 hit singles across multiple genres: jazz, folk, pop, rock, and country- topping the country and pop album charts for more than 200 individual weeks in the United States. He dueted with Dottie West, Dolly Parton, Sheena Easton, and Kim Carnes. People camped out overnight to get tickets to his concerts. You aint heard nothing yet, dear Pegasus. There's so much greatness in Kenny it;s hard to even make a suggestion...

I know people love his work with Dolly Parton, but his time with Dottie West (two gold records -one of which later went platinum) was unmatched. They were so believable. Her death was a tragedy...but even then, he honored her by appearing s himself in her biopic, and making space for her in his book. I saw them together twice. lifetime memories.

Kenny was Country, pop & soft rock. Early in his career he was in a popular rock band " First Edition " They had major hits like, "Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In)" "Ruby, Don't Take Your Love to Town" After the band broke up the rest was history.

Great reaction. I saw Kenny Rogers in concert in the late 70's. Awesome! His hit with the Fifth Edition is from 1967 "I Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In)" is a must listen. Later you should check out his hits "Lucille", "Coward of the County", "Ruby Don't Take Your Love to Town" and "The Gambler". I think you would enjoy all these songs.

Fact is Lionel Richie was living at Kenny Rogers house when he wrote this song and knew that Kenny was the man to deliver it because of his singing range; there is a Biography video where Kenny talks about this subject and more.
Yes Kenny Rogers has his own distinct writing and singing style; is you listen to more elections you will be mind blown, my two suggestions are Coward of the County and Islands in the Stream
Keep up the awesome work; love watching your reviews because they are usually spot on.

Honestly, country and R&B are so connected. They’re all about heart, soul, and a story. It’s no wonder country singers have taken R&B songs and turned them into country and R&B singers have done the same to country music (…of course I Will Always Love You comes to mind…). I love Kenny Rogers and this is one of my favorite songs sung by Kenny, Lionel, and both together.

Back in the later 70s and early 80s - there were a lot of songs that were on the rock and roll charts and the country charts at the same time. You would enjoy doing more of those - Charlie daniels band devil went down to Georgia, Crystal Gayle don't it make my brown eyes blue, linda ronstant, so many more artists.
