I was at that concert! I was 12 years old, and they filmed it for HBO. I brought a rose, and as soon as Kenny finished Lady they let me go give it to him-so wish that part was in the video. Such a trip down memory lane as I’m 56 years old now!!

Phone calls were made and Dolly happened to be in town and came to the Studio. Honestly, country and R&B are so connected. They’re all about heart, soul, and a story. It’s no wonder country singers have taken R&B songs and turned them into country and R&B singers have done the same to country music (…of course I Will Always Love You comes to mind…). I love Kenny Rogers and this is one of my favorite songs sung by Kenny, Lionel, and both together.
Back in the later 70s and early 80s - there were a lot of songs that were on the rock and roll charts and the country charts at the same time. You would enjoy doing more of those - Charlie daniels band devil went down to Georgia, Crystal Gayle don't it make my brown eyes blue, linda ronstant, so many more artists. Honestly, country and R&B are so connected. They’re all about heart, soul, and a story. It’s no wonder country singers have taken R&B songs and turned them into country and R&B singers have done the same to country music (…of course I Will Always Love You comes to mind…). I love Kenny Rogers and this is one of my favorite songs sung by Kenny, Lionel, and both together.
Back in the later 70s and early 80s - there were a lot of songs that were on the rock and roll charts and the country charts at the same time. You would enjoy doing more of those - Charlie daniels band devil went down to Georgia, Crystal Gayle don't it make my brown eyes blue, linda ronstant, so many more artists.
