Being Neil Diamond's age myself, you should react to Neil when he's much younger. He had real long hair and was very good looking, the women were crazy about him! This and his music is what brought him to such fame! He even had a BBC Live Concert Special in 1971, you can find it and a lot of clips and possibly the whole concert here on RUclips! He was part of the 60s cultural music revolution that helped reshaped everything in the music and American culture in the late 60s and 70s. Watching this performance of Neil Diamond is kind of like wanting to know who Paul McCartney is by watching a current performance of Paul today instead of watching a video of Paul perform back in the 60s. Great video!.....Here would be perfect live performance to start with.. "Neil Diamond--I Am I Said--B B C Live Concert 1971" search here on RUclips, takes you right to it!
I remember The Jazz Singer movie from when I was growing up (where the song America came from). That's how I will probably always remember him looking.
I am feeling sad listening to this video. He is obviously older and his voice is not what it used to be. In younger years, his voice was deeper, richer, had more range to it. I have seen him in concert 23 times, starting in 1975. He had the hottest ticket in the city in the 70s. Love him and will always support him….and remember the good old shows.
My absolute favorite song by him is "I am, I said". It's beautiful. My parents listened to him often while I was growing up. His voice and personality are so compelling. My Dad once said that he would like Neil Diamond playing at his funeral one day. He died in 2022, and had decided on not having any services. I am in Michigan and he was living in South Carolina when he passed. I remember just sitting in my car that day, playing Neil Diamond and crying, kinda having my own private service for him. His favorite song was "Forever in Blue Jeans"
One of the best singer-songwriters ever. He sold over 130 million albums worldwide, broke attendance records wherever he performed and received numerous awards. His songs were covered by the greatest and he's the writer of I'm a Believer, Red Red Wine, Girl You'll be a Woman Soon and many others. His band was composed, among others, by Elvis' former drummer and the famous Waters Sisters, who sang backing vocals on numerous hit albums, including Thriller.
One of my favorite singer songwriters spanning many decades. I had so many of his records. He had tons of hit songs. "I Am, I said", "Cherry, Cherry", "Sweet Caroline", "Kentucky Woman", "Red Red Wine", "Solitary Man", "Holly Holy", "Cracklin' Rosie", "Song Sung Blue", "Longfellow Serenade", "Desirée", "You Don't Bring Me Flowers" etc. He has sold more than 130 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling musicians of all time. I was privileged to see him in concert twice. He was a great showman & his live performances were memorable. Sadly he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2018.
Ya know how you can tell Neil is the coolest guy on the planet? Look closely at his band - they're the same musicians and singers he had in 1968! They stayed with him all these years. What a family they all must be.
You could spend an entire career wandering from song to song in Neil Diamond's catalogue. Plus you can see him in the movie "The Jazz Singer" which also has a fantastic soundtrack. Perhaps some of his most amazing work was his "Jonathan Livingston Seagull" album which might deserve a full-play album reaction... you cannot go wrong with Neil Diamond! Great choice, great reaction!
Agree with every word of this - especially the comments re the JLS album. Pure genius. Personally, I much prefer his less well-known work to his various hits, but that's not a complaint!.
Whenever he sings "America" with those words, I just imagine ALL of my great grandparents on their long boat rides pulling into New York harbor and laying their eyes on the USA for the first time. I don't know for sure, but I imagine all of them (men AND women) breaking down in tears! America REALLY meant something to EVERYONE back then! New beginnings and new opportunities! 👍😁❤️🇺🇸
I knew a guy who had a college roommate who had emigrated with his parents from Russia. The guy said that every night when they lowered the American flag in their courtyard, the roommate put Diamond's "America" on and stood at the window, facing the flag, with his hand over his heart. Needless to say, he was completely sincere about this ritual and very thankful his family got to move.
I always liked that song but when I had to move halfway across the country for my senior year of high school (my dad was in the Air Force) it hit me on a whole new level.
Neil is the GOAT. I have seen him so many times in concert. He was quite the showman. He has written for so many other artists. I started enjoying his music in the 1960's. He has a giant rabbit hole of music. He sold out every venue he performed at, the man was wildly popular.
PLEASE promise to watch something this guy did back in the day. He had a phenomenal voice. I'm sure the other comments will tell you which to listen to. I'm glad that the songwriting skills came through, at least.
I hope this doesn’t spark a heated debate but I think you should start with the studio version. After that, watch “Soolaimon/Brother Love’s Traveling Salvation Show” from the iconic live double album “Hot August Night”. Ironically, the live medley omits the intro to Brother Love’s, which starts off with, “Hot August night and the leaves hanging down. . .” You need to hear the intro, which is why I recommend the studio version first.
@@terri2494 It doesn't with me, I also would do that order. Soolaimon/Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show is my favorite version of the "Sermon" section.
Neil's Hot August Night live double album was either the first or second record album I ever bought, depending on how you look at it (I bought it and Chicago Live at Carnegie Hall box set at the same time). I was 15. I loved that album and played it to death (nearly). Brother Love's was excellent on that album.
He could afford a great orchestra and became a great writer of soundtracks. I also like the one to JONATHAN LIVINGSTON SEAGULL. He wrote songs from other viewpoints as Billy Joel and Sting and Knophler do. It lends variety to an album.
One of Neil Diamond's most iconic and historic live performances was recorded on a double album set called "Hot August Night". Neil was in top form for these live performances with an amazing band/orchestra backing him! I hope you will delve into some of these excellently recorded hits from Neil! THANK YOU! 🤗☝
When my eldest son was ten years old I took him to a Neil Diamond concert, and Neil was absolutely electric (that was 40 years ago)! Well, long story short, my son became an instant fan, got the bug and became a musician himself. Never reached the same heights, but he loved it! I've been a fan ever since Neil's first hit! "I Am I Said" is an excellent song!!
Please also check out younger Neil Diamond videos and songs. I have been a Neil Diamond fan since i was a kid, as my family are big Neil Diamond fans, and i was born and raised on Neil. I saw him 3 times in concert. Also watch the movie The Jazz Singer with Neil Diamond. He had so many songs and hits! 💎
I was lucky enough to see Neil Diamond live decades ago in San Francisco. A photo of Neil's grandmother was on the monitors and he told her story of being an immigrant, leading into his song, America. When he sang the words "Every time that flag's unfurled", a huge American flag was literally unfurled above the stage. Everyone in the arena lost their sh*t. It was amazing, gave us chills, a very magical moment. His long time backup singer Linda Press was like 8+ months pregnant at the time with her daughter, Daisy.
My all time favourite singer. I have been a huge fan for more than 50 years and have most of his albums. I have been so fortunate to see him in concert in Australia three times. I so wish his health would allow him to perform one more time.
I saw Neil Diamond in concert. He put on an amazing concert. So glad I got to experience his songs live... He has a ton of great songs. Fun watching you both reacting. Like your at a mini concert...
I am getting such a hoot out of watching this. I am 72 years old now I saw Neil Diamond when I was at college and I was 19. He came to Texas Tech University and I got his autograph. I agree with the last comment you should have heard him on his albums. These songs were so different and I think much better but I am really glad to see that you like him just the same he was and is terrific.❤
My dads favorite and I grew up on it. He was the first concert I went to. I know and love all of his music. I am I said is my favorite song. There is Niel Diamond Broadway that's touring now. Once you listen you'll want to hear everything he did.
You guys need to see the movie, Jazz Singer, starring Neil Diamond & Luci Arnaz (daughter of Lucille Ball & Desi Arnaz). The movie is really great (even though the critics didn't like it -- aah, whatta they know, anyway 😅) but all of us Diamond fans LOVED it. It's from 1980 and I saw it 27 times in the theater!!! There was no internet back then . . . we didn't even have music CDs at that time! Of course, I've seen it many times since then. There's a soundtrack from the movie that is so great and it sold millions upon millions of copies. His music in the movie is so wonderful -- the song America is from that. I've been a fan of Neil's since he started when I was in high school in the 60's. I had every album of his that I could find. I also saw him in concert 3 times and he was absolutely wonderful and I sung my lungs out with my throat being sore the next day! 😅 Please do more Neil songs but do his earlier stuff and see what we women were so crazy about him. 😊 Dark, long hair, dark brooding eyes, playing his acoustic guitar with no band behind him. He is just dreamy!! 😂 I Am I Said, Solitary Man. Brother Loves Traveling Salvation Show, Cherry Cherry, You Don't Bring Me Flowing (the one that is live with Barbra Streisand), Hello Again, Love On The Rocks, September Morn, . . . there are too many to name! Anyhoo, I'm glad you liked his music but pleasd do more! Thanks. 😊😅😂❤
Like others have said, this recording is in older years. He still had great energy on stage but his voice was more strained. He was a sultry heartthrob back in the day - 70’s for instance. There are recordings on RUclips from that era. However, one of my favorite recorded concerts you can buy on DVD. It’s 2008 in Madison Square Garden. It’s called Hot August Night, which is a callback to a famous 70s concert in LA. Neil is from Brooklyn so that packed out concert was like a homecoming. I think you can find some clips from that concert on RUclips too. I Am I Said is a must to react to. It’s a song anyone can relate too, especially when they are young and trying to find their place in the world.
Has any body noticed the drummer playing with Neil Diamond in the video? He's the Dallas born drummer Ronnie Tutt, he's the drummer who played with Elvis Presley from 1969 until Elvis's last concert right before his death in 1977. He also later played with Neil Diamond from 1981 - 2017. He had quite a career. Ronnie unfortunately died from a heart attack in 2021. He is one of my all time favorite drummers and human beings!
I think that it's so cool that as soon as he finished singing "America" he yelled out "Thank you, England!" Glad you added Neil Diamond to your list - he's one of my favorites. "America" was one of those he wrote for the movie he starred in - a re-make of "The Jazz Singer" - of which the main complaint is he wasn't really singing jazz - but the songs were great, if not totally jazz (but he rocks! - lol), - & they were his. He did a great job in the movie, so one of the days, I going to pick up the dvd/b-ray for myself so i can have those songs again. I have three of his albums. I seem to like a lot of singer/songwriters - lol.
Neil Diamond, a much underrated, great performer and song writer along with Billy Joel and Bob Seger together are the Holy Trinity of 70s and 80s American Music. I still listen to all three on a regular basis.
Neil Diamond is a legend! So many beautiful songs. I am more of a metal/rock lover but for him i will make an exception. He also made a movie, The Jazz Singer. Thanks for your reaction.
Neil is one of the Greatest songwriter/singers of a generation who has been covered by so many over the decades that it still amazes me when people don't know who he is. I am... I said, Brooklyn Roads, and Soolamon are my three favorites of his. But I have over 50 of his songs in my primary Playlist.
Love your channel and listening to so many of my old faves! FYI Neal Diamond was born in Brooklyn, NY 😊 His grandparents immigrated to America. Keep playing the greats!
When Neil was starting out…he had picked out two names he wanted to switch his stage name to. Everyone told him Neil Diamond was the perfect name. A Diamond is forever!🔥❤️💎
This man is amazing. Over 50 years of hit after hit…he has written 95% of the music he performs! Three hour concerts,no opening acts,no intermissions. No one sits…everyone knows every word and sings along! React to Red,Red Wine,Love on the Rocks,Beautiful Noise,Cracklin Rosie,…soooo many more!
I went to his concert in SLC. Shortly after he then announced he was sick. He had been on my bucket list to see for 35 years. His music never gets old. He is an amazing song writer and story teller. It's so sad to see his health declining.
My dad saw Neil live 4 or 5 times - and the last time was his final show before he announced he was going to have to retired. Dad passed away last year, with Neil Diamond playing softly in the background.
He wrote songs that others turned into massive hits including I'm A Believer, The Grass Won't Pay No Mine, He Ain't Heavy (He's my brother). Beyond this, he was a consummate lyricists and song writer having major hits in the 60s-80s, Along with Bee Gees, John Denver and a few others who have a massive song catalogue during the modern pop music era. Mr. Diamond is an American classic.
Neil Diamond, an American legend. I was lucky enough to see him live when he came to England , his shows are amazing, his voice although not at it's best on this occasion was fabulous. Check out his earlier stuff, he sang an amazing duet with Barbra Streisand. Fabulous fabulous Neil.
Have been to many Neil Diamond concerts, including his 50th Anniversary concert, which sadly was his last, cut short by his diagnosis to Parkinson’s. He is AHHHHHHMAZING!🔥❤️💎
As the mom to children in their 20s, it has been awesome to see the younger generations fall in love with his music. The first time I heard his songs played at a football/basketball games, and I saw how they got into singing his songs blew my mind!!! He is known in the younger generations now, and they love him!! So awesome!!
I am loving you guys discovering the music from my youth! Neil Diamond is a legend! You have to listen to all his greatest hits. Just FYI, you need to listen to him when he was young. Listen to the originals of these songs. You can’t get a true feel for his talent if you are listening to his aged voice. Kudos to him for such a long career, but his voice was well past it’s prime here.
I grew up with Neil Diamond. Forever in Blue Jeans was my brothers wedding song. Now, America. I'm full Cree, but I was adopted into a rich white people's family dynamic.. it was hell. They hated me. However, the song America, i LOVED this song.. I too felt the wonder and adrenaline of this conquerer settler mind set.. I felt that way because I didn't know who I was, my history, my parents, my people. So I felt everything white people felt, as my own, I can understand. Imagine how I felt, as an adult, listening to the song, and knowing who I was, and the CRIME of what the song represents? Gives me chills.. to have come so far, in my pathway. So the song means a LOT to me.. but not for the same reasons as anyone else. Good reactions, guys. xo
Yep. The colonizer mentality. You survived not being assimilated. I still love the song because of the sincerity that went into it....I am a child of immigrants who were poor, and had nothing and came across the atlantic and hoped for a better life. There are never enough apologies I could ever give for the genocide of a race of people. But you are of the Star People. I'm sure you know your lineage now. You and others have not been erased. And there is much for us all to do. The best to you, keetahbrough.
I saw Diamond in concert. It was the only concert I have been to where no one got up and left. Everyone was glued to their seats. Neil and Tina Turner were two best concerts I have seen.
Neil Diamond is an amazing story. He grew up in NYC and attended the same with Barbara Streisand, they were classmates. He started out working in the famous Brill Building where he wrote songs which were then recorded by other artists. The Monkees had the first chart topping songs which he wrote: "A Little Bit of Me, A Little Bit of You" and "I'm a Believer." He then began to record his own songs and developed into a super star. I love his soundtrack for the movies: "Jonathan Livingston Seagull" and "The Jazz Singer," which he played the leading role in, as well. "Done Too Soon" is a particular favorithe of mine that's not listed here already in other comments. It was fun to watch you, and your wife's, reaction. Please keep them coming with more Neil Diamond. Another artist to check out would be: "Jeff Beck Group" an album from 1972 with the legendary guitarist who passed away in 2023 at the age of 78. "Sugar Cane" "I'm Going Down:" and "Ice Cream Cakes" are great selections on this album. "Definitely Maybe" is a great instrumental too.
I love “Done Too Soon” but I don’t think I’ve seen a reaction to it. “Jonathan Livingston Seagull” is pure poetry. It’s a shame more people aren’t familiar with it.
They should also watch Neil’s duet with Barbra Streisand, “You Don’t Bring Me Flowers”, at the 1980 Grammy Awards. The audience had no idea they were even there, let alone performing. She even stopped doing concerts for 27 years because of stage fright, so no one expected her to sing at the show. After a commercial break the audience saw an empty stage for a few awkward moments. Then, without any announcement, the two walked on from opposite sides of the stage. The audience members went nuts when they realized what was about to happen. What a great performance that was.
My late mother was a Neil Diamond fan all of her too short life. We did our Saturday chores to his music on a stereo that occupied most of our front room. She would dance around and sing, much to our amusement.
Neil Diamond is one of those performers that tried to stay true to his original soundtracks. It was what made him famous and what his fans wanted. Even in his later years he offered great concerts. Sadly, he no longer tours due to Parkinson's. You might also want to check out Electric Light Orchestra (ELO). They did a concert at Wembley Stadium in 2017. They sound just like they did in the seventies. The videos of their concert is very similar to this one. The audience is having so much fun and is made up of all ages. It is no secret that the music of the seventies and eighties is probably some of the greatest music out there. Musicians had to wear many hats, they had to play instruments, be able to sing and most of them wrote their own material. Concert tours were rough but they delivered amazing concerts for their fans. They was no lip syncing, no autotune, no special effects. Just good old talent. How times have changed.
I've had a crush on Neil Diamond since I was a teenager. He has always been my favorite singer. I cried while watching an interview he gave last year about his career, living with Parkinson's and about the Broadway show "A Beautiful Noise." Parkinson's is horrible!
You should definitely react to Neil Diamond when he is younger. As a "senior" he puts on a good show but to really appreciate his talent you need to listen to his hits as they were originally released. He was 🔥🔥🔥
"Sweet Caroline" has been famous from the beginning. Picked back up as big events would sing it because it's good and everybody knows the words. "I'm A Believer" became a bigger hit for The Monkees. "America" was written in honor of his grandmother who immigrated to America. Once in Atlanta, there was a parade in the canyons of the skyscrapers and a float was playing this song. Tens of thousands of people were yelling the Today part...it was very moving.
This is the first concert I took my now wife then girlfriend too (1990). We've been married for 31 years now. At the time she was 20 and I was 25. I wasn't sure how long Neil was going to be performing and I knew I wanted to see him. I paid big dollars for tickets from a ticket place in Boston that I knew when I went to college there. We were probably the youngest people in the audience and we had really close seats. He performed what's called in the round picture of stage in the center of the arena that moved turned throughout the whole concert so everybody got to see him. It was in November and he took a time. Probably about 25 minutes to do Christmas and Hanukkah songs in the middle of the concert and then finished out the concert. It was just fantastic
Man, did I have a major crush on Neil when I was a kid. Seriously. Cracklin' Rosie.....my folks loved Neil, grew up listening to him.....still love it all these years later. A brilliant songwriter. Hmm. A Fave Neil songs. I am, I said....Love on the Rocks, Play Me, Beautiful Noise, I always always think of my folks when I hear Longfellow Serenade, September Morn, too many to list...
Neil Diamond was my Mom's favorite singer. I was lucky enough to take her to 2 of his concerts for her birthdays. Our favorite album that he did was his Jonathan Livingston Seagull album. You should listen to it if you ever get the chance.
I adore your precious wife! She has the sweetest personality! Its wonderful to see the two of you together. Your relationship seems rock solid and the best of an ebb and flow that people should work for . You always mention your love for your baby girls and wife as well as your humble and appreciation for the life you are living. I Love to listen to your stories of you growing up , the honor you give our soldiers and vets ( my husband was in the Air Force for just under 22 years and retired so anything with soldiers and their families touch my soul. I lived with his deployments and raising two beautiful little girls.) watching Ally slowly opening up to Country music and Taylor Swift, and its really cool how you read the lyrics as the song goes so you don't miss anything as well as look up interesting info and facts that pertain to the songs. Bottom line is I'm A big fan of you, Ally, and what you do on this channel. Keep going for those of us who get a needed laugh or positive experience when we are searching for it . God Bless!
"America" from his Broadway role in the movie The Jazz Singer (1980) is a must! Should always start with the start of a career. He was an extremely popular male singer during the 60's &70's and 80's - especially among the ladies. A tremendously talented singer/songwriter and entertainer! worldwide sales over 130 mil units, including: 10 #1 singles on both Billboard & Contemporary Charts; 38 songs have reached the Top 10. He was inducted into The Songwriters H of F in 1984 and Rock H of F in 2011, along with being an honoree at The Kennedy Center Honors in 2011, and in 2018 received the Grammys Lifetime Achievement Award. Has written a ton of songs, beginning his affection for songwriting through writing poetry in high school. Many of his songs were hits for others, as they would release their cover of the song before Diamond would release his own, examples: "I'm a Believer" and "Its a little bit me, and a little bit you" - both were made hits by The Monkees. Some early hits: Cherry Cherry, Solitary Man, Brother Love's Travelling salvation show, Sweet Caroline, Kentucky Woman, Cracklin Rosie, Song sung blue, I am I said - many others, but those are a few of his hit singles. Can't go wrong listening to the Neil Diamond Library of Songs.
Thank you for getting to this. I knew it was long when I requested it, but he has so many songs he has written & I thought you might enjoy these 3. I appreciate y'all & glad to support. By the way @sebsduran, Huey Lewis & The News singing "I want A New Drug" is a real song. Your reaction on the livestream of saying you think people just make up song names to send was epic. Stay blessed & grateful. Tomorrow is never promised.
Neil Diamond was a favorite of my mom's. I was a never a fan, but I would go to concerts with my Mom. I just wanted to be with her. Miss my Mom. I'm a Believer was also done by the Monkees. Ever do a video of them?
Gotta love Neil Diamond. A rock and roller from the early days, to "The Jazz Singer: (google his movie by that name) to one of the great pop song writers in the 1960's and entertained live at concerts, like "Hot August Night" album of his concert in Los Angeles at the Greek Theatre.
It's not a beachy kind of sound, it is him saying that he and his wife can be broke and it doesn't matter. He doesn't have to wear a suit, he can go around in jeans. He did this 4 times in a concert I went to. Fabulous!!! 50 great touring years.
First concert I ever saw was Neil Diamond at the Fabulous Forum in Los Angeles. I was just a kid and my parents took my sister and me. His songs were frequently played during our road-trips back in those days.
Ok I will say my mom listed to him when I was younger and he became my first vocal crush. I loved his voice and I would listen to him sing all the time.
The iconic live album of the era was "Hot August Night" taped live at the Greek theater in Los Angeles. A double album of all of his sixties hits, including a ditty called Red, Red, Wine, which had a reggae beat. Hot August Night was the opening line of his song Brother Love's traveling Salvation Show.
This is from what is now a HUGE music festival outside the town of Glastonbury, (210,000 people). They regularly have Legendary artists performing there like Johnny Cash, Dame Shirley Bassey, Paul Simon and Tom Jones. Most people just refer to it as 'Glasto'. "I'm a Believer" is possibly better known from the cover version by The Monkees.
Noone has mentioned two other great Neil hits, Hot August Night and Brother Loves Traveling Salvation Show. Solitary Man was what I considered my theme song for many years when I was younger. Neil has been one of if not my top favorite performer since the late 60s. He is also one of my wife's favorites.
He actually wrote Believer for the Monkees who first released it in 1967.
THANKYOU!!! I was wondering why no one else had said this!!!!
Yes! I was going to say that also.
Add me to those who checked the comments to see if anyone would mention the Monkees connection. Thanks!
And The Monkey's outsold The Beatles that year
It is called 'I'm a Believer' though
I saw an old video of him singing....wow!
I agree!
You are so right about young and good looking!
I remember The Jazz Singer movie from when I was growing up (where the song America came from). That's how I will probably always remember him looking.
Yes.
Great date music in the early 70s.
🕊️✝️♥️🇺🇸🎼
I am feeling sad listening to this video. He is obviously older and his voice is not what it used to be. In younger years, his voice was deeper, richer, had more range to it. I have seen him in concert 23 times, starting in 1975. He had the hottest ticket in the city in the 70s. Love him and will always support him….and remember the good old shows.
We only saw him once back in the '80s and it was one of the best concerts I ever went too.
Guys you need to see his early seventies videos to really see how good he really is.
Hot August Night is his best live album
Studio version is much much better.
“I am I said”. Take a listen. I could go on and on.
I KNOW!! Love the one, live when he ends it with: "oh..no....Oh no....Oh no, no, no, no,...No!
Thinking of you in McSherrystown, PA God Bless you!💜
Look for the early 70’s work of his. His voice has lost a lot since then.
Brilliant song writer and performer.
❤ Jonathan!
I believe he won a Grammy for the JLS score -- probably my favorite album of his, although it's hard to pick just one! ❤
The title is just AMERICA
I always loved his song titled 'I am I said'. It was a personal song for him but also spoke to anyone who ever moved away from their hometown.
There are videos on here of Neil performing live in the early 70's solo with an acoustic guitar. It will blow your mind
Neils best LP was HOT AUGUST NIGHT from 1972 2 LP set concert
👍🏻🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
a truly hot...August night!🤣
PLEASE promise to watch something this guy did back in the day. He had a phenomenal voice. I'm sure the other comments will tell you which to listen to. I'm glad that the songwriting skills came through, at least.
Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show is one of my favorites. Thanks for a great video, and reaction. God bless you!
Yes!
Me too I love Mr Billy Hill country he reacted real nice to brother love salvation show
Neil's Hot August Night live double album was either the first or second record album I ever bought, depending on how you look at it (I bought it and Chicago Live at Carnegie Hall box set at the same time). I was 15. I loved that album and played it to death (nearly). Brother Love's was excellent on that album.
Your comments about America are so gratifying to me. Having served 32 years in the US military, it is for people like you that I served. Thank you. ❤
I think you'd both enjoy the movie The Jazz Singer, which stars Neil Diamond...
He could afford a great orchestra and became a great writer of soundtracks. I also like the one to JONATHAN LIVINGSTON SEAGULL. He wrote songs from other viewpoints as Billy Joel and Sting and Knophler do. It lends variety to an album.
Definitely a yes on that!!!👍
Love that movie. One of my favorites .
I agree. That is a great movie.
I remember "America" being played with video of the Iran hostages getting off the plane. It was time to cry.
Neil Diamond wrote songs that the everyday person could sing. Some singers are about showing their vocal ranges but no one can sing with them.
Great first time reaction to a legend. My favorites of Neil's are "I am, I said" and "Play Me".
Play Me is my favorite.
I think it's a terrible song for a first reaction. His vocal skills are diminished.
Obviously older here , and you can’t appreciate how much more quality and range he had at his earlier age.
My all time favourite singer. I have been a huge fan for more than 50 years and have most of his albums. I have been so fortunate to see him in concert in Australia three times. I so wish his health would allow him to perform one more time.
Neil’s best songs: I AM, I SAID ….and PLAY ME
I saw Neil Diamond in concert.
You should react to "I Am, I Said" and "Canta Libre" . Also "Play Me" Beautiful songs! Neil Diamond is one of the best !!!❤
My dads favorite and I grew up on it. He was the first concert I went to. I know and love all of his music. I am I said is my favorite song. There is Niel Diamond Broadway that's touring now. Once you listen you'll want to hear everything he did.
“The Monkees” are the original singers of, “I’m a Believer” The song came out in the late 60’s. That type of music back then was Bubblegum Music. 😁
Please do more Neil songs but do his earlier stuff and see what we women were so crazy about him.
Thanks. 😊😅😂❤
Neil also did a great ballad, entitled "Love on the Rocks," but as you see here Neil could jam.
Neil Diamond is one of America's greatest living singer-songwriters!
Neil Diamond and Shirley Bassey singing Play Me is a must see! He was so hot back in the day...great song writer and performer.
Neil Diamond wrote this song and the Monkees recorded it back in 1966. I was still in high school. You need to check out Neil's younger appearances.
I think that it's so cool that as soon as he finished singing "America" he yelled out "Thank you, England!"
Glad you added Neil Diamond to your list - he's one of my favorites.
Neil Diamond is a gem who's music will live forever.
Neil Diamond is phenomenal. He was part of the soundtrack of my life.
Neil Diamond went to high school with Barbara Streisand, imagine the school talent show
Neil Diamond is a legend! So many beautiful songs. I am more of a metal/rock lover but for him i will make an exception. He also made a movie, The Jazz Singer. Thanks for your reaction.
1 million percent with you . Zeppelin are my gods etc but Neil Diamond is indeed a legend …👌
Neil Diamond is AMAZING!!!
I've been listening to his music for decades. His Tap Root Manuscript album is fantastic. Thanks for this reaction.
Especially the African Trilogy. Great music!!!
Neil Diamond was one of the best performers I ever saw! I attended several of his concerts
The best concert I have been to was Neil Diamond
Of course he's older here he made these songs hits in the 70s and 80s, and his early hits started in the 60s .
Neil Diamond is my all time Fav Singer and has been since I was a Teen.. My fav song of his: I'am I said
He wrote songs that others turned into massive hits including I'm A Believer, The Grass Won't Pay No Mine, He Ain't Heavy (He's my brother). Beyond this, he was a consummate lyricists and song writer having major hits in the 60s-80s, Along with Bee Gees, John Denver and a few others who have a massive song catalogue during the modern pop music era. Mr. Diamond is an American classic.
My parents were HUGE Neil Diamond fans. They named me Caroline and grew up as Sweet Caroline. SO, I have heard Sweet Carolyn for the last 55 years
Neil Diamond, an American legend.
Good reactions, guys. xo
Get over it. Everyone has crap to deal with.
Sounds like they should have left you an orphan. You would have been happier. Not sure why someone would adopt someone they hated. 🫤
Sorry you had to experience this. Maybe you can take it to gain strength from the whole time.
Neil Diamond wrote the original RED RED WINE that was covered by UB40. Diamonds version is so amazing you should check it out!
I saw Diamond in concert. It was the only concert I have been to where no one got up and left. Everyone was glued to their seats. Neil and Tina Turner were two best concerts I have seen.
I listened to Neil all the time. So great to see younger generations loving the music I grew up with ❤❤❤
Neil Diamond is an amazing story.
Neil Diamond has been one of my favorite performers for years. Thank you.
How times have changed.
wife and I saw Neil Diamond in his "America" tour in Austin Tx 1983, what a great singer songwriter. 40+ yrs ago and still have great memories!
He was 🔥🔥🔥
Neil Diamond was my mom's favorite preformer and her greatest crush. she went to many of his live concerts.
I was fortunate enough to see 2 of his concerts in the 70's, what a great performer and songwriter.
Your wife's impersonation of Neil singing 'America" was BRILLIANT! It actually was spot on! Thanks for not removing that. It was great!
100% watch some Neil when he's younger.
He has some amazing Christmas albums as well.
One of the best concerts, bar none! So good, so interactive, I’ve loved him since the early ‘70s
His duet of You Don't Bring Me Flowers, with Barbara Streisand was more of an event than a song.
Porcupine Pie was my daughter's favorite! She was 4 years old.
Glitchy Goomy
Freedoms light burning warm…Statue of Liberty
