      @robin huff I assume, that despite your comment, you did bother to note that countries in lockdown are able to access medication and go food shopping unless in quarantine. This is common knowledge at this point. America currently has more deaths from Co-Vid than 3x 911 attacks. It wouldn't have lasted months if the lockdown had been done earlier when we saw Italy go down, which was a warning of the seriousness of the situation.

      robin huff it means only having to go out for medicine and food. The most we can do for the first responders is to not add to their burden. If we stay home as much as we can there there will be fewer cases then it would be less riskier for our medical and health workers. It’s hard but these days it would be nice not to think only of ourselves. Our small sacrifice can save a lot of lives.

    I've always listened to what Ramsey has said, but there should be no one that should ever say thank God for the coronavirus. To say that is to focus on a narrow scope of mind, and a lack of empathy to those that are affected by more than a simple financial situation. I am disappointed that he thinks a six month emergency fund is enough for a crisis such as this, and that his plan is more than sufficient for times like this. I am financially stable for six months, but something like this can extend further than a few months; for his sake I hope this doesn't impact him to the extent that it has affected other industries.

    Dave we love you that is apparent for I wouldn't be listening to you every single day. I have taken much of your advice I have bought your books. I think you are a good man. And I appreciate that you are in business but your business is also part Ministry. And I don't mind that you have the wealth that you do in fact I'm happy that you do because at your age I went through something very similar.
    But when you refer to toilet paper and dysentery yes dysentery is part of the virus. It is not panic buying even though I have not bought bundles and bundles of toilet paper. It is not panic buying for people to buy up toilet paper. We do not know where the base product is Source or even where the toilet paper comes from. We see it and we see a possible shortage whereas in your position you may not be in a position to have a shortage. Your stock may be built up at your business and you may be holding back for employees to have some too.
    Also I do not drink bottled water I drink the water that comes from my refrigerator filter but people look at it and wonder where is the bottle sourced from. They don't know. And people are hooked on water sold in bottles I am not.
    I get why certain products fly off the shelf in emergencies. I live through Hurricane Andrew I had to drive 50 miles to get 5 gallons of gas. That was all I was allowed to have I went without electricity for one solid month. My home was ruined in that time not from the hurricane but just from the lack of electricity and the fact that we had to keep a cook fire going because water had to be boiled in that day. my wife for a month had to keep a charcoal fire burning and we sat outside in the sweltering heat of Miami at night for a month and talk with our neighbors. Nothing felt as good as being able to take a warm shower and clean water. That was six weeks after. Every night I had c-5a Galaxy flying over my home low with all the lights on and my windows open in the sweltering heat of August.
    I go through five more hurricanes after that while living in Broward. Almost destroyed my home and they say it was a cat one but I remember sitting in front of the giant living room window with a mattress on my back and my son's holding the door in with a mattress and water coming in the house. I have lived through this and it's bad

    Giving money to the population won't solve the problem. They will just spend the money right away on things they don't need such as piles of toilet paper. Which I still don't why people buy so much water and toilet paper. All I need to do is to turn on the faucet for water and then boil it.

    • @machintelligence
      @machintelligence 4 года назад +2

      For those under a lockdown, there is also food to consider, likewise paying the landlord so he doesn't go under. Spending money, even if it is borrowed or government "handouts" will help keep the economy afloat. Toilet paper and bottled water are a drop in the bucket (pun intentional) compared to other needs. Face reality.

      But these people already were one paycheck away from homelessness, the crisis just exposed it. Just because you are an "everyday people" doesn't mean that you need to live like them, people who live spending less than they earn can avoid debt and have an emergency fund for times like these.

    I like listening to Him, however people have to take what's for them in everything that people say. In my opinion step 2&3 should be switched. A $1000 for savings is nothing for a family of 5 in a situation like this. And fyi I know people personally that took his advice and now that's all they have. Save up 6 months emergency funds first. Then stat you debt snowball effect. Makes more sense to me. Especially to a family. Just my opinion. I take what's for me and trash the rest. Blessings all stay safe

      Interesting point. I do not believe these should be static baby steps that will be appropriate for everyone's situation. Maybe for a family of five, $2,500 would be a better starting fund. It's a lot easier to save money when you don't have debt, so that's probably the reason the steps are in that order

      @@davidrose2899 yes, not for everyone situation. However I believe it's easier to put away 3-6 months saving, then paying off 60-80k in debt. If someone is paying 3-4k extra on debt. But only have a 1000 emergency fund. Would you agree to pause the snowball for 4-5 months and put that extra in savings. Then resume after the 4-5 months?? Especially if they have a family with small kids..

    • @davidrose2899
      @davidrose2899 4 года назад +1

      @@sanja_Thebody I understand your point of view, and I can't say your approach is better or worst. I do agree that a thousand dollars is very little money to support a large family. The emergency fund is more-or-less designed for that one-off situation that catches you off guard: car or house repair; whereas, the 3-6 month savings is for a longer-term expense. One potential downside to saving 3-6 months of expenses first would be that you may end up accumulating more debt with late fee's and/or paying minimum payments. But whatever works well for you!

    Just because you dont have credit debt, doesn't mean you're not in trouble. Most people have utilities and mortgage or rent, a phone bill. I have a savings but I dont want to touch it for regular bills. So what do you suggest when one spouse already was laid off, and one is at risk very shortly? I've paid off any credit debt I had, so I live very frugally. I have other lives depending on me, that savings will get used like water if one of us can't continue to work. This is not a joke for most people. Even people without excessive debt. I'm not panicking, but I have every right to be worried. I have a plan but that relies on having income.
