Which states own all the liquor stores? The states of Alabama, Idaho, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Utah, and Virginia all own the liquor stores. Yep. I live in VA. Same here.
I am in South Florida, never seen a single one of these either. Always love seeing these supposed knowledgeable reviewers calling bottles "available" I live in Fl and my brother is in NY and it seems like the majority of the time these clowns refer to bourbons as available or on the shelf everywhere, two of the four most populous states never have them. WTF exactly is your criteria, Freddy, for a bourbon to be "available" or on the shelf most places?
Oh no! Dang it fred! Now every one of these will never be found again! I think if u said a bottle of water was a really good pour it would sell out in 11 minutes!
Fred, at the risk of sounding like my wife, either all that fine whiskey is making you younger or did you apply a youth filter to the video? Your younger hair color is coming back in brother - I need access to that elixir of youth... or filter?
Good question. I am not opposed to certifications, but usually judges are in the trade and make decisions about whiskey at retail, restaurant, distributor or media level. In that crop, you see some certifications, but it’s not why they get hired. I select judges who have strong recommendations from people I admire / respect, and I’ve usually tasted with them. Both ADHD whiskey and Mash and Drum are two RUclipsrs I recruited, because of how impressed I was by their skills. Hope that helps you understand my process.
@@FredMinnick So a lot of networking and heavy involvement in the right crowds, and then having a good skill for tasting? Hmmm... okay. Will have to see how I can accomplish that.
@@FredMinnick - Unless my eyes are older than I think, that bottle says 20-001. Funny thing is I've been kind of hunting Blenders Cut since I saw this video and finally found some in Minnesota while traveling. Of course, I noticed they had 21-001 and 22-001 on the rack and thought, "Oh crap! Wonder which one was in competition this video refers to" I grabbed the bottle of 21-001 since there was only one bottle of it and several of the 22-001 bottles...figuring I'll be back that way again soon enough, probably. Then I re-visited this video and found this comment thread as well. Now, I am assuming the 2 digits before the - refer to the year, but that seems a reasonable assumption to me. Meaning that a blend from 2020 ended up winning a 2022 competition...? IF it was actually the 20-001 that won, them I'm probably out of luck for getting the exact blend that won for you...but I might have to just accept that the 21-001 blend is "close enough"...I already have the other 4 bottles you highlighted on this video, so it would complete the set. Cheers!
Interesting... I got Bulleit barrel strength a couple of years ago and I thought it was WAY TOO HOT. I actually keep trying to pawn it off to anyone who will take it haha. Bulleit Blender's Select and 10 yr are the ones I go for, and the 10 yr for some reason has been impossible to find here in Illinois since I first got it.
Are you sure you got the right bottle on that Journeyman ? The Journeyman Buggy Whip Wheat is way better than the Corset , Whips and whiskey bottle you showed a picture of. That Corsets is pretty low in my ratings. Jet fuel nose and very thin whiskey that just evaporates leaving very little flavor profile. The buggy whip wheat however is a root beer float soft and sweet nose and truly delightful drink. Are you sure you haven’t mixed these up?
Great video Fred. I just order another bottle of Journeyman CWW for $70. I would have paid $100 no questions problem. This is one of my favorites whiskies period no matter the type. I did a blind with my brothers a long time ago when you first reviewed it as one of your whiskies of the year and right away it stood out among the others and it was the favorites for the 3 of us. It's one of those whiskies you don't ever forget. It's so different and so damn good. Looking forward my second bottle. Bravo to them!!! Cheers Fred!🤙
Journeyman is only 30 min away for me. Be jealous. 🤣🤣🤣 Just kidding of course. A few good distilleries around me as opposed to a hundred in Kentucky, I'm the one who's jelly! Keep up the great work Fred! I'll contribute to your liver replacement fund! Stay well!
No one outside the USA can derive anything from this whatsoever. Do youtubers in the USA even realise the internet goes around the world, or do they just think the USA IS the world?
I live in North Carolina which is a ABC state....which means that I have absolutely NO chance to find ANY of these. I CAN get all of the Old Forester line though....the OF 1920 being my favorite.
Would be helpful to have made it clear that the journeyman that won was the single barrel cask strength that doesn’t even say “wheat whiskey” in the name. Yes i understand this information is available, I’m not complaining, just mentioning that it would be helpful to be more specific than just “journeyman wheat whiskey” in the video itself.
Fred, is the Five Trail Blended American Whiskey a bourbon? I went back and froze the picture to see if I could read something on the label. My old eyes couldn't see anything indicating it was indeed a bourbon. Appreciate you so much. I am fairly new to bourbon. Started enjoying it about four or five months ago and so far have about 100 bottles in my collection, many on your recommendation. Have a GREAT day and thank you for ALL you do for the bourbon community. Side note, I lived in Stillwater, OK for twelve years. Worked for KICKER car audio and loved it.
Jeff, Five Trails is a Blended whiskey. It contains a bourbon, a wheated bourbon and a malt whiskey. Therefore it cannot be labeled as a "Bourbon". But it is a Blend that contains bourbon. I hope that clears it up for you.
Fred, we all love you My Man so I’m just passing along a suggestion. Get an external large monitor so you can move it out of frame but still see/use it during recording. For your loyal viewers to be watching The FM while also staring at the back of your open laptop is just no bueno. Be better than that Bro!
I grabbed some Bulleit barrel strength a few weeks back in the 750ml size. Saw it at one of the worst shopping stores around in a rough neighborhood. Maybe that's why they had a case on the shelf. Then just today I grabbed a few single barrel bottles from a state allocation. Hope they're good.
Never had the five trails or even seen a bottle but have had all the others and agree they're pretty good. Especially like the davies county i was actually sipping it just yesterday really a very underappreciated bourbon it's just sitting on shelves in my area but that will probably change as more people become aware how good it is .you mentioning it here will probably boost sales of it a bit i would imagine.

Here in PA not one of these is available. Shocker.
I hope things get better there for you all

Blue Note Juke Joint Uncut is a very very good pour. Wish I could get my hands on their 9 and 17 year bourbon.
I'm of the opinion they're not being made anymore but would love to be proven wrong
Uncut is better than the 9 year. And the margin is not small.
@@Sheepdog3030 I agree

Found a pallet at local Costco. Bought it.
Every single Blue Note I get is nothing short of amazing. Stores barrel picks , or 2bbl ,4bbl ,6bbl...all amazing.
Thank you, awesome 😎
Had the Blue Note, just ordered the Swinson, probably will never get my hands on the others, not in SC anyway

How does one become a whiskey judge? Where can I sign up to take classes and certifications, etc?

What is the release number and barrel number on the Doc Swinson’s BC? The 21- release was one of my favorite pours of 2021.
that's the actual pic of the bottle in the vid
@@FredMinnick now that Fred has let the Doc Swinson’s BC genie out of the bottle, it’ll probably become impossible to find soon. 😉

I’ve been amazed that Daviess County has pretty much flew under the radar this long
So you're saying I should buy every bottle of the Journeyman CWW I can find :)
Have 3 of the 5 - the Journeyman isn’t a likely find, but I did grab their rye and look forward to that

No, the Corsets, Whips and Whiskey.

Great video ascoted friend!……and I enjoyed the new brands even though some are not from our beloved Commonwealth.
So going Double Platinum is better than Faith + 1's album going Myrrh?? CHEERS!
Great South Park reference
Just picked up a bottle of Blue Note tonight after seeing this earlier. Not disappointed at...all! Developing a taste for younger bourbons.
I haven't seen most of these in MI. I think I've seen Daviess County, and of course Bulleit (10 yr is easy to find at least). Time for a road trip!
i'd say buy onlline, but michigan doesn't allow that
