Michael makes EVERY guitar sound amazing, Brandon makes them super interesting, and Jen makes it all available for our listening pleasure. Always the best part of my day--thank you!!
Greetings here from Pennsylvania! Guitar of the day has been a very religious part of my night, especially getting home from work. From the guitar mastery of Michael, the excellent camera work of Jen, the vast guitar knowledge and trivia from Brandon, and the charisma of everyone at Norm's is just something that makes this channel unlike anything else on RUclips. And to Michael, thank you for inspiring me to play guitar in ways I haven't before, I would love to hear your playing in person one day!
Fantastic guitar and demo. I have a butterscotch/maple neck Squier FSR 50s Esquire that I bought last year-it plays and sounds amazing. The versatility and twang from the one-pickup setup is pretty phenomenal. If this Custom Shop beauty is out of your price range, I highly recommend tracking one down!
Life in the Fast Line takes me back to Lemmo’s very first GOTD! Great playing, great knowledge dropping by Brandon, great everything else by Jen, without whom none of this would happen and my day would be less bright. Love you guys.
I love Fender butterscotch 50's Telecasters and Esquires and having Lemmo play one to hear it is a perfect showcase. Thank you Brandon, Michael and Jen! You three rock!
Got to love them Tele's. were never my fav but now have a couple of them and absolutely love them . My dream guitar is a early 70's Telecaster Deluxe, my best bud got one for his 16th B-day and still has it that
We had the honor of watching this live in the store. Wow, this Esquire screams! (Doesn't hurt that its also gorgeous). If I hadn't exhausted my funds on the trip to California, this one might have come home with us. Thanks so much to Jen, Michael and Brandon and the guys for being so kind to us, and letting us experience Norm's for the first time. Definite highlight of our trip and we'll never forget it.
VERY first Fender guitar I ever saw ... in-the-wood, so-to-speak, was a brand new 1959 or '60 Custom Esquire in cherry sunburst. I was a kid of 12 or 13 and it knocked my sox off! I love ALL my Fender PUPs to be flatpole! They sound better because the coil is closer to the strings. Pots have resistance which reduces frequencies. Ain't but ... one way out, Babe. I LOVE this guitar. And whatever petal he was running it through!
One of my favorite guitars with some great riffs today. Have always liked relic guitars. Watch you guys 5 days a week, every week for a lot of years. Really appreciate the effort all of you put into this moment, every time.
Fun Fender geekery but the Esquire actually pre-dated the Broadcaster, barely. The Esquire was Fender's first solid body Spanish guitar following the famous 2 or 3 non-named/non-labled prototypes. The first Esquires were available in one or ultra-rare two pickup configurations (yes, a two-pickup Esquire which the Custom Shop has even faithfully recreated a few times). All of these original Esquires were very, very small in numbers. After all, it was the very dawn of solid body Spanish guitar production for the company. They had no truss rods and the head of Fender Sales/Leo's partner Don Randall pressed Leo very hard to include a truss rod in the neck design. When Leo did, the two-pickup model became the Broadcaster and the Esquire name was kept for the single-pickup model. My source for all that are the many detailed large-format Fender history books, especially the ones written by noted Fender researcher Richard Smith.
Dam that thing is a killer toned guitar...sounds just like an original 50's ...Michael definitely knows how to pull tone very much like Rory Gallagher, Hendrix and SRV did. .Extraordinary, unique player
Hi Guys, Watch every episode and love 'em...don't usually comment - just thought I'd keep it simple so Lemmo can read it and don't mess up :) Much love from the UK
I was called a Telecaster nerd because ever since I got my American Pro Tele I've been studying and learning and researching the history and legacy of Telecasters, Broadcasters, Esquires and the various customs and setups that are designed and produced. Anything about Tales I find interesting but I've always kinda been a nerd In general and am always studying and writing and people think I am weird because I'd rather read and write on my own then be with the crowd.
Guitar Of The Day just keeps getting better and better. I'm loving the Spec Check. I've learnt so much about these guitars without having to pick up a book! Awesome!! Special thoughts for 2 of Melbourne's finest singers who we have sadly lost over the past few days. Judith Durham of The Seekers and Olivia Newton John who was so dedicated to helping others who were going through cancer treatment whilst suffering cancer herself. Two beautiful ladies with the purest and most beautiful voices that you are likely to hear. They will be sadly missed.
Man I just love that open setting! sooooo dirty and matches that well loved look and vibe. Nice selection of riffs Lemmo, makes me feel like jumling on my gat and finding that dirty sound!
You can ALWAYS tell when Michael's inspired by a guitar - and that one's a PERFECT example. Talk about tone being in the fingers! Took essentially 3 tones into a sonic onslaught - and seemed a little less reverb-drenched :-) Love, LOVE this new format BTW.
Goes to show that one pickup is all you need. Is that swamp ash? Shemp swash? Michael Lemmo? Lichael Mello? Brand N? Spec check needs? Cool 😎 Keep it up. You guys and Jen make us guitar nerds, including Norm, smiling.
Looks like this Esquire is gone, gone gone gone gone gone. Absolutely badass though. Im new to the tele/Esquire world but I’ve been obsessed with them recently.
Once again Norms team of genius Personel keeps the wheels of his empire turning with great knowledge of equipment, and of course Michael playing his hart out. Thanks to all, and keep it up 👍🏻
This one won't last long...probably already sold...they don't make em like that no mo...got plenty mojo...somebody needs to put this guitar on stage and rock it 🎸 get the broom...Mike done picked all the hair off it 👍💯✌🤣💰🎯
Love it lemmo looks like monday great guitar spect check as always great job. Ps. I want that t shirt im not giving up 2 years comment every video but im not discouraged.
Even better is buying guitars at Norms in person ,Michael will hook you up by phone and when you come in Brandon is waiting with your guitar ,very cool shop
Interesting to hear Brandon talk about flat pole tele bridge pickups having more “presence”. While I have experienced the bass response he mentioned, I have not experienced flat poles having more presence than a staggered pole. I’m not saying I think Brandon is wrong, it’s just not something I’ve noticed. I always found flat pole ones to sound darker than the staggered ones I’ve used. But perhaps that was more because the flat pole ones I’ve used tended to be higher output, thus sounding naturally a bit darker. When I’ve switched to lower output, 60’s style staggered pole ones, they were brighter with much more clarity. But now I’m curious to hear what a lower output flat pole one would sound like.
FANTASTIC Wow gorgeous relic and so so kick ass Michael!!! What a great GOTD. From spec check to Jen cinematic genius to Michael make that guitar scream!!! Oh that Esquire is just beautiful 😍
Idk if I just wasn’t paying attention but the biggest spec above all (in my opinion) is the PINE BODY!! Does it have a pine body? Super light, very easily relic’d, and my favourite wood personally.
A beefy esquire when he played zz top it all makes sense, people win t shirts for liking the new format. I miss Mark agnesi having a bugbear about offsets. Gotd is a different beast these days, but it is still all good. My channel has been influenced by norms channel - I tell people it's the second best channel on RUclips, after norms. The algorithm stops people finding it - see my name for details.respect to norms - the Cat.
So that's a reissue of a 50s Esquire?? Was it already road worn when it was produced or is that true ware from time?? I just wanted to know because I've seen some pre warn or road warn Tales that have the paint flaking already when new. I also like the flat pole pieces I find better overall clarity and pure tone. My American Pro is in Candy Apple Red finish and apparently from what the Fender company emailed me directly after I requested the information this particular finish was only limited in production and there there are only 500 American Pros made worldwide with this custom finish. So I was stoked to hear that because not only is it a half span produced guitar (produced for four years not eight) there are fewer made American Pro originals there most any other modal as the span of production is always just under eight years from what I understand making The American Pro a limited produced guitar making it a rarer modal. Love my Tele and happy I got The American Pro original and not the 2 because the original was the first design and better in manufacturing and was one of there last flagship guitars IMO.
What’s everyone else’s opinion? I’m not sure about the sneak peak at the beginning. I kinda like being surprised at what he’s gonna play after the “SPEC CHECK!”. 🤔
I think it's super pro, but just enough tease to lock you in - like you'd surf away with Lemmo playing anyway :-D As long as it doesn't give too much away.
@@roughcutguitars I agree, it adds a very nice touch visually. I guess it’s just my OCD. Lol, I’m that guy who tries to not listen to the single until the whole album is released. 🤦♂️ It’s a testament to his playing. I always can’t wait to see what he does. It’s gotta be nerve-racking to have to do “GOTD”. Much respect for Michael and the whole crew.
Michael makes EVERY guitar sound amazing, Brandon makes them super interesting, and Jen makes it all available for our listening pleasure. Always the best part of my day--thank you!!
Guys I totally forgot to mention that it’s a Pine body on this one!! Super lightweight and super cool 🤙
... are the screws really flat head or are they oval head slotted screws?
Just like the first few originals!
What’s the signal chain? Sounds killer!
do you know what drive this is?
Good Lord...the tones out of this guitar are PHENOMENAL! Of course, it doesn't hurt that Lemmo is putting on a guitarist's masterclass! SO GOOD!
i never wouldve thunk a single pickup guitar could have so much tonal diversity, im blown away

Brandon is bright and smart. Thank you brandon. All clear
Hey from Australia! Love the great American guitars I get to see each day.
Would love to see a Lemmo/Brandon jam session. Make it happen!! Love you guys!
And Jen drowning in a burger maze

Tele Tuesday the best day of the week, what a truly great sounding Esquire, keep em coming boys.

it is really one of the most beautiful guitare you guys present . bonjour depuis la france
Bought one of these used but basically unplayed last week. It’s an incredibly cool guitar! Mine weighs a svelte 6 lbs 9 ozs.
I have been chosen!!! Thanks y'all! Keep the GOTD goodness going!!!

Love spec check! Lemmo rules 🎸
Jens awesome too!
A lot was missed on this Esquire. Bridge pickup is a Broadcaster pickup 43 wire probably wound to 8.09 ohms blackguard specs

I missed Tele Tuesday!!!!!!!No…………..back 2 work, have to teach! So busy I completely forgot.
The video begins at 11:25!
This maple fretboard is darker than my American standard Strat's rosewood.
I believe that on the really vibed out ones, the pickup cover is referred to as the "hashtray".
That cover was laid to the side the other day when y'all featured the Jazz Bass lol... yellow bass, bad bass!!!
I luv that esquire
Some train track frets on that one !
How did Leo, who didn’t play guitar, get it so right from the beginning? And how does Lemmo make it look so easy?
Leonardo DaVinci wasn't a pilot either
As JJ Walker would say . DYNOMITE !
So that’s how they work!🤓
If I could have only one guitar 🎸.....I have to say that this esquire would probably be it. Changing probably to definitely......nnnnnnnnnoww!
Sounding great, Lemmo!

Jesus. These tones are heavenly. Besides the looper, what pedals were being used? I hear an OD obviously...
Sweet.

I was a roady for Black Sabbath
My 73 Strat has flat polls and frets are flat on top all blond the wood grain barely shows . Purchased New in 73 and very loud guitar ?
Looks like somebody bought the Antigua Tele on the wall.
Jaw Dropping……………….😧
👌
if lemmo has a godzilla jazzmaster, soriano needs a mozilla telecaster
What's the first thing he's playing? For the life of me I can't remember what it is!
$300
What overdrive is being used here? Sounds amazing!
I can't say for sure but Mike tends to identify any pedals he is using. I think what we are hearing is just the guitar overdriving the amp.
The hash tray
Brandon is now officially known as “Spare Parts” Soriano.
And steel saddles, not the traditional brass.
That Allan bros track sounds better in Michael's hands and on that esquire
Why custom shop add's this black color under the frets? It looks so weird.
Zz top power!!!!!
