I love when you know what the guitar is going to sound like when you crack open the case, but then it still blows your mind hearing it. That guitar has had a lot of music come from it, but has a shit-ton more in it.
Wow. From the opening notes ... there's a fluid, graceful tone that's just really a wonderful thing to listen to. Great playing, great guitar. Thanks for sharing.
Gawd, that brings back memories of 'The One' that I played back in the mid-80's, and was too stupid to buy it at the time. When I went back to the mom&pop store I found it in two weeks later, she was already gone. Lesson of the Day: when you find that perfect guitar, buy it without thinking. Somebody did that day.
CeeBee Imagine how Mark felt when Gibson told him he had to do the video about suing Dean guitars, unless he is getting a ton of money I bet he wished he was back at Norm’s doing GOTD.
With all due respect to the late great Mark I have to say Mike you've taken GOTD to another level man. Loving the use of loop too. Really shows off the guitar even better
Lemmo you knocked it out of the park. Great playing. I own a 52 with a 68 neck played by Roy Buchanan. I with I never sold it. The best guitar I ever owned. Great camera Jen. Cheers
I used to work at a club that Roy Buchanan played at a lot.I bet you I have had that guitar in my hands a few times way back when.Roy was a really good guy.
Those old blackguard Teles have a magic all their own. Nothing like them. Once you start to play one you just don't want to put it down, it's entirely immersive. The flat bridge pickup polepieces, the brass saddles, the through-body stringing, the thin steel bridge pickup's bottom plate, the entire bridge and bridge pickup assembly that integrates them, the way the U-shaped neck fits your hand, made the blackguards special. By mid to late 1954 and after they got brighter and thinner sounding. The Tele is the only Leo Fender era guitar with different pickups in the neck and bridge positions. Of course, the bridge pickup is to die for, but the secret sauce of this guitar is the neck pickup which is unique sounding and has a lot of soul.
The butterscotch ‘52 Tele is my dad’s proverbial “The one that got away” lost guitar. He and his brother traded it to Dan Erlewine (of Jerry Garcia’s guitars fame) in the Detroit, Michigan area circa 1968-69. Erlewine gave in trade a poor-quality 12-string, which was stolen from my dad a few months later. He’s always missed the Tele, which was a pawn-shop special for about $90 in 1964 when he bought it (this would be about a grand now). His brother, my uncle, was playing drums in the same little stretch of sleazy street in Ann Arbor, Michigan (Ann Street) that Seger hung around in, and later memorialized in his song “Main Street.”
When I use to live in Woodland Hills for 20 years, I could go into Norman's and drool. Now with this channel I can drool from long distance! Cool guitar!
This guy is way better than whoever the last host of guitar of the day was. He can actually play. Sounds great! And seems way more down to earth. Great Job man!
Yah , Lemmo , feelin it today , and man that Tele sounds awesome , both pick ups , all over the neck , just rockin and rollin , Keef is a master of the simple but tasty lick , and Lemmo just slayed it , it's all about rythym and you got it in spades brother , nice camera work also Jen , thanks guys.
A Tele is a guitar that you just have to "know" how to play...I dont know if that made'y since or not...but if you "do" know how ,they can sound amazebawws!
@@wesleyAlan9179 Yep, and they play great. I've had two over the years - a semi-hollow Thinline (didn't like) and a classic Sunburst with white pickguard. Ultimately I think it just came down to fact that I never fell in love with 'em - just not crazy about the shape (silly as that sounds, it matters). Moved on to a Jag, then a Jag-Stang, then Les Paul, now have a Melody Maker-shaped Slick SL59 and I tell you, I'm in love again. I'll eventually end up having an affair with a Strat, I'm sure, but for now this Slick is the one...
for a guitar made in 1952 this is totally awesome. would love to have this one. however i would never want a new one. it would have to be old like this. nice choices of playing for this one and done extremely well. great video and demo.
1952. Born the same year as I was. Better shape than I'm in.
and probably worth more...

Everything is absolutely perfect in this video, from the depeche mode shirt, to the playing, to the riffs and of course to the guitar 🥹❤
Dang, dude. And you played my two favorite Stones songs. This might be my favorite gotd. Thanks for all the content!
The only thing i have missed since Mark left was the Keef riffs. Now everything is perfekt.
