Video up for 1 hour and I came to see whether there were already comments crapping on relics. Internet did not disappoint. Imagine waiting years and after all that time and planning and money to read comments how the guitar is ruined and lame.

Hell he could even get me excited about a rift sawn neck;) , which is arguably the least high end custom shop spec. of all time. *Seriously tho as long as the customer is at peace with their piece, its all g👍

I get the idea of why relics are appealing... but my issue has always been, if the goal is a super thin finish and being able to keep a lot of the wood exposed... then why not use finishing products that will do that the best? Why are they still using 1930s car paint thats never really been a good choice for wood anyway? Its like wanting a cheese burger and instead of using ground meat, starting with a cow and then just beating the shit out of it with baseball bats until it looks like ground meat.... theres a lot better ways to make ground meat and if the goal is a tasty hamburger then bludgeoning a steer isn't the best option. They could easily achieve the same style with better materials, I could absolutely create that exact same color using natural milk paint that would be much thinner, and also would protect and adhere to the wood much better. I look at that guitar and I think about who made it, trying as hard as they can to make an instrument that appears as if it was made by someone else 50 years ago, and to me it seems soulless... I know nobody wants to hear my bullshit but it makes me feel better to say it.

      A Life of Service
I was born to grow into a hunchback man
      I’ve been starved beaten denigrated
And left by the side of the road
      Friend
There’s nothin’ you can tell me
To make me change my mind
They sell their minds and their bodies
      And all their earthly time
I write poems to the future
      Where I won’t be
      They left me alone
      My mind is free
      It’s lies
No matter what the books all say
      They can afford to help
      They spend it all away
      You are the descendants
Of the wicked and the weak
They hide their shame and lack of courage
They spit venom when they speak
      They were born to slave
      By someone else’s hand
      All they ever knew
      Was getting screwed once again
      All bound in chains
They breed babies for the streets
      They sign papers
They sell their lives for their meat
      All the debt slave demons
      All with mouths to feed
      They smile right at you
      While they watch you bleed
I was born a hunchback baby
I was adopted off at birth
      I walked through the pain
Down here on prison planet Earth
This poem is for the future
They’d never let me carve it in stone
      So I’m hiding it here
      Where they’ll never know
      All demons
      All bound in chains
When I get back to Heaven
      I might not volunteer again

@@paulsto6516 well the nitro finishes on the American Original Strats are perfect I would say, so there is “craft” in making it look antique. The starting point is not a perfect finish which to me is a bit of a cop out. They do feel good like so many things do when they get worn in. Baseball gloves blue jeans and ski and hiking boots come to mind. Broken in guitars do play better out of the box - don’t they? It’s all confusing.
