Hi! I hope you are having a wonderful day and have fun plans for this week. I'm sitting with my hand quilting. I just want you to now that I enjoyed your video. Thank you for sharing this video, your energy and your time.
Hi Alison! That is true if its on the straight of grain. If you are pinning on a bias edge, it may help but it won't stop it completely which is why even Donna Jordan is careful when sewing and dealing with a biased edge. Thanks for sharing!
This exact design was done by Man Sewing a few years ago. He did an excellent job demonstrating how he made it. Turned out beautiful. He said it was adapted from 3 Dudes quilts
I love my Creative Grids rulers, but I also have several Missouri Star rulers and templates. I started with Omnigrid, still have them. Like you, I prefer that finding since blocks tend to be more accurate. This is a great block, and your color choices are perfect. Thanks for sharing Eric 👍 😊
hi Kym! I tried an Omnigrid ruler once...never again. The markings and color of the lines made me go Omni directional since it was so confusing. I do have a handful of MSQC templates, but I never use them. Actually I don't even know where they are...LOL. Thanks for sharing!
I have mostly omnigrid rulers but I’m slowly converting to creative grids because they slip less. This weeks block was pretty. Only 16 blocks left to go.
Thank you Barb! I think a lot of people start with Omnigrid rulers but move on. Is it only 16 left? Oh gosh it is...I can finally see the light at the end! Thanks for all your support!
Well great video Eric 😊 I use whatever ruler I have. I have Fiskars, Quilters Select, MSQC and some others. I like the Quilters Select. But can not afford more of them. The MSQC I use the most. And Fiskars lines are too thick. But I still use them. The Omnigrid lines confuse me. The Omnigrip have better lines. But I am not picky. I use what I got 😊 Thanks for the video my friend 😊
Hey Tiff! I really don't like Omni rulers. The bright colors make me go omni directional...or quilting with Molly if you know what I mean. But I figured you wouldn't be picky with this, as long as it has a straight edge. Now rotary cutters (which is the next topic) that one I think you will have a strong opinion on....but we shall see. Thanks for watching!
@@TreasureHeartCreations ya not much picky as long as I can cut. But there are a few that confuse my mind. And I may or may not have a cutter opinion lol you'll have to wait
Hey Eric!!! Cute block!!! Fav rulers are CG, why???? Because of the back grips and the simple fact, my eyes like them better than any other ruler out there. Can’t wait to read others favorites!
I am really shocked how many of us like CG rulers. I would've thought there would be more Olfa or Omni lovers. I guess we are all in good company....TEAM CG! Thanks for sharing!
Hi Rosetta! I like Lori Holts rulers as well. Actually I like a lot of Lori Holt's products. They are just not easy to find unless you shop online. Thanks for sharing!
Nice block!! I am not picky on my rulers yet but I did just go buy a three set of 1/2 inch rulers to do half square triangles soon :) I have a 3x18 ruler that has yellow on it (I am bad at knowing brands) and the I have some clear block rulers that are for fussy cutting… I just use them to cut my blocks into squares hahaha
Hi Sue! I am rather shocked at how many of us use Creative Grid rulers! I would have thought many would say OmniGrid or Olfa. Creative Grids works for us! Thanks for sharing!
If your ruler has a thick line, where should you put the edge of the fabric? This side? That side? The middle? The answer is the OUTSIDE. The line must be ON the fabric and OFF the mat. It works, and I think it gives me more accurate cuts. Thanks for these videos, Eric.
Hi Sarah! I've heard other quilters say this as well. I do know that not all rulers are the same in their measurements; you would think and inch is an inch, but it can very a little by brand and the thickness of the lines, But I have found that in the end, as long as you cut the fabrics consistently the same way, it won't matter. Thanks for sharing!
@@TreasureHeartCreations Thus the gap between ideal and reality. I drafted clothing patterns, and the 'outer edge of the line' was the rule. Ha! Rule! No pun intended, but it is funny anyway.
I like to use Creative Grids, or Quilter’s Select non slip rulers. They’re very good for beginners because they have non slip grip product on the backs of the rulers.
I'm a scrap quilter an am usually working with pieces less than 5 in sq so my fav ruler is 2.5 x 6.5. I agree with you: I like the thin lines in Crative Grid rulers. I also have a couple of Quilter's Select rulers-4.5 in sq and larger. My workspace is small so I don't have room for any 18 in ruler.
Hi Sydney! You know I never considered the fact that they type of quilter you are can determine the size rulers you would gravitate to. I have a variety of sized rulers, but I do a bit of everything really...just depends on the mood. Thanks for sharing!
Hi June! Thats the one of the big reasons why I love Creative Grids rulers as well. Otherwise my ruler would be slipping and sliding and the cuts would be all over the place. Thanks for sharing!
🌼Hi Eric l love ❤ this block great choice of colours and the cutting and rotation of the pieces is amazing, such a clever guy. As for rules well l like red markings for dark fabric and black markings for light fabric that's if you can get them. I enjoy watching your videos Eric thanks for sharing ,you take care. Oh by the way l tried some cranberry juice 😋 it's actually not bad. Daisy Dale from downunder 🐨🦘.
Hi Dale! I don't believe I have seen a ruler with red markings before. They usually come with white, black or yellow markings....or maybe sometimes green. I will be on the lookout for a red marked ruler and must give it a try. I have trouble seeing black markings on darker fabrics, and most of the other colors are usually too bright and make me go dizzy. Thanks for sharing and all your support!
🌼Hi Eric the rulers with red markings is called Sew Easy designed in Australia 🇦🇺 so may not be available in America 😕 but maybe one of your favourite quilting shops could check it out for you 👍good luck. 🌼Daisy Dale from downunder. 🐨🦘 .
I love 💕 this quilt!
Thank you LCSD!
Creative grids are my favorite rulers.
Oh hey there fellow Creative Gridder!
Wow this block is amazing
Thank you Nancy!
Beautiful demonstration! ❤❤
@Mardi-LovetheLandHomestead Thank you!
I love the design and colors on your quilt, Blue is my favorite color
Thank you Linda! Can you tell I like blue 😁😁😁
Creative grid, less slipping
Creative grids it is! I am rather surprised how many of us are using Creative Grids. Thanks for sharing!
Creative grids is my go to ruler as well
Yaye another fellow Creative Gridder! Thanks for sharing Jeanie Walen.
Wow!!! I have found my next quilt project. Thank you for your excellent demonstration.
You are so welcome Kim!
Thanks Eric for sharing great block
Thank you June Hanson!
Thanks Eric!
You bet!

Thank you Brenda!
I love creative grids rulers, but for precuts, I love the 5 inch and 2.5 rulers from Missouri Star
I do like MSQC Rulers, but just now flattered with the bright yellow color so I tend not to use it so much. Thanks for sharing!
I like the rulers , waiting for payday to get a few more
Hi Linda! Which rulers are you looking to get? I am trying to explore the Quilters Select rulers...not that I am giving up my Creative Grid rulers.
@@TreasureHeartCreations I am looking to try the Creative Grid Rulers or the Quilters Select rulers, which ever I can afford.
Thanks for the introduction to this block. Beautiful quilt!
Thank you Crystine! Give the block a try; its a fun and fairly fast quilt top to make.
If you pin the fabric in the middle and end, you can control the stretching, according to Donna Jordan.

I use both creative grids and omnigrid. Not sure which I like the best.
Hi Carol! I tried Omnigrid rulers, but for whatever reason I would get confused by them. Then again I am easily confused! Thank you for sharing Carol!
I like the Creative greads rulers they grip n when I'm cutting they stay in place I get my rulers from Eleanor Burns she has them on sale
