Today I was in Rob's class for this quilt.... What a great time, what a great teacher, and most of all a great person.... Thank you for a wonderful day.....Hope you enjoyed being in Michigan... Sorry is was so short...Come back an visit
I consider myself an intermediate quilter and have shied away from precut/jelly rolls because of running out of fabric. I am also pretty "old school" in that I want my quilts to be completely done by me and not "cheat" long the way LOL...but that's just me. Honeslty though, to be safe, you would need to purchase an additional jelly roll. You would never be able to match up these fabrics if you were short. It just makes sense to me to buy a little extra yardage and part of the fun of quilting is the shopping for the material!! I DO LOVE your's and Jenny's videos and am glued to RUclips these days. I always have them playing when I am quilting. Who needs cable TV when you have these :). Thank you so much for the time you put in to each video and sharing so many wonderful ideas with us all!! You guys are the best!
This was the first show I watched and am in the process of making this quilt. I have 6 grandsons that have requested quilts this year. I am enlarging this quilt as my grandson who is getting this quilt is 6'3" and wants the quilt to fit a double bed at least. I am planning on sending a picture when it is finished. Thanks so much for so much fun!
Some of us cave dwelling people didn’t find it as easy as you made it look, but we still love you anyway. My quilt looks a little like a Picasso painting, or some might say it was struck by an earthquake. It’s all fun, and I learned allot. I’m sure someday I’ll be famous. 72 years old and still trying. All my best, your friend Chuck . P.S. Tell Jenny I said hi.
This is my favorite video for two reasons. First I love the design of this quilt, especially when you chose such awesome colors! The second is because I love to see both Rob and Jenny working together...the dynamic duo!
I have some jelly rolls that I absolutely ADORE. *VERY* similar colors to yours. I’ve been waiting for a quilt pattern worthy of them. Thanks to you, I’ve found it ! And what clinched it is that you both are two of my very favorite RUclips teachers and the fact you did it together was the decision maker ! Thanks SO much !
I showed this to my 20 year old son and he wants this quilt in these exact colors so thanks for letting us know the fabrics you used. I hope he will help me since he can see this is also cool for guys to do. Thanks, Rob and Jenny also for her easy sewing and cutting techniques.
I have made several of Jenny's quilts & I love them all ( So it is really hard to choose a favorite ) but I think my favorite is this one. The Three Dudes Quilt with Jenny & Rob. It was so much fun & it turned out just beautiful. All of your quilts have been easy ( only because of your great instructions ) & I have learned so much by watching your videos. I look forward to every Friday to learn more. You always make learning so much fun & never confusing. Thank you Jenny !
This is my favorite tutorial of all of the Man Sewing tutorials. One of these days I will make this one as it is the top of my bucket list! It is fun to watch with the interaction of Rob and Jenny but love the quilt.
Two of my favorite people to watch on youtube making a pattern from another favorite with beautiful fabric... will be watching this one more than once for the pattern and for the fun!
I love this quilt. You guys make it look so easy I'm going to give it a try. My son's favorite colors are black and blue so I picked the same fabrics you used. I can't picture in my head how colors will look as a quilt design ahead of time. Thank goodness the fabric designers put coordinating colors in their collections. And quilters like you and Jenny put them together so beautifully. Thanks for all your tutorials.
love jelly rolls --making a wedding quilt with this pattern --using the colors--coral reef as my black and champagne and spa jelly roll mix as my light to dark--these are her colors she gave me--cant wait --thanks flippy
I love opening my computer on Monday's with my coffee and Rob, but to have Jenny on a Monday! Wow! Can the week be any better? I am amazed at your artistry and how your mind sees colors Rob, you have an incredible gift! Thank you again for not just a great quilt, but for a way to see and play with color!
I really enjoyed Rob's demonstrations. He designed really nice quilt patterns and quilting techniques! Made me excited to learn from him. Sure was an asset to Missouri Quilt Company. Really miss him!!!
Made this quilt for my niece in her favorite colors. Was fun to make and turned out gorgeous! Reds, grey, white and black. She loved it! Wish I could add a picture.
this is my favourite video from Man Sewing! I have lost count of the number of times that I have watched it and finally purchased the fabric this week when it was on sale for the MSQC Daily Deal. Thank you very much for your wonderfully informative videos!!
I must say, I absolutely LOVE how this quilt looks!!! That black really makes the quilt pop. I have a couple jelly rolls I've been tossing around what to use them to make, and I think this is it!!!
Quilting is my passion, that's what days off are for. You and Jenny are my favorite people to watch, I loved this quilt and made it for my daughter for her birthday in purple, she loved it. I would love to own the cordless Panasonic iron, would make quilting so much easier.
I just love Jenny's "disappearing" pinwheel tutorials. This is an easier, more dramatic variation! I love it! Rob also gives me hope that my sons will show interest in my quilting passion.
I think this is my new favorite quilt! I made two quilt tops for my nieces with this pattern. One in pinks and purples, the other in rainbow colors. I need to get them quilted and out for their birthdays next month. Absolutely love how easy this one was to get the great pattern... looks hard, but is so easy. Just learn to manage all the seams and you're set!
You are both great...I am in awe of how amazing and gemtastic your quilt turned out. Makes my new efforts look kinda embarrassing but still in awe :DDD
I just got back from a trip to Bali. My souvenir was a fabulous collection of batiks. Thanks for this tutorial as I now know what I'm going to use it for. I'm going to call my quilt "From Bali with love".
Wow Rob, every tutorial is better. I really love this quilt and the colors are magic! My husband start to watch your tutorials too.. I can't believe that!!
Hi the three dudes quilt that rob does is one of my favorite of his videos. I plan to do it one day. I even have the material already in my stash ear marked for this
These colors are just beautiful ! The design and layout per your color idea is perfect ! Rob, thank you for sharing, and it's so nice seeing Jenny as your guess. xo
This is a great quilt- the colors and pattern really stand out. I really love all of Rob's videos and really appreciate that men do quilting as well as women!
This is my favorite video because it is my first one to watch from Man Sewing. I just got my jelly roll in the mail and will be making this quilt in the same color way! I usually put my own spin on things, but this quilt is perfect as it is... I am so excited!
This is such a great tutorial. After watching it I bought a jelly roll similar to this in purple shades. It's my first and I'm making it for my sister. Rob you are so helpful. Thank you.
I have watched this video at least 5 times, I am ready to get a few baby quilts done, using this style block. I'm super excited!!! Thanks for the tutorial!
I am a New Zealander and so glad you make these videos so people like me can learn. So excited to try this quilt. I am one of those scary beginners who only sews quilts and jumps into only ones that excite her no matter what level of expertise it is.
I’ll be using Kaffe Fassett,s Lipstick jelly roll with black 1 1/2 strips...so excited to see this video...I haven’t quilted in many moons but want to make a quilt for each of my children, while I can...thanks soooo much for your video and your expertise....Be Blessed...
I love quilts with black in them as it really makes me want to say "oooo-ahhhh" each time I see one. I'm thinking of making this as a boy baby quilt in some blues. I love all the variations that can be done with the blocks. Thanks for a great tutorial & all the tips you add as you teach us.
I love watching Jenny and just now found Rob so I'm sure he will have lots of ideas for me :) I think this quilt is beautiful and will be on my to do list !!!! I NEED that iron !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! God Bless
In every quilting show at every State Fair I've been to, men make the best quilts. SO happy to know you exist! I'm just learning. Haven't even made my first quilt yet, but loving this video. BTW, my husband worked as a youth at a fabric store and made all of our wedding clothes (shirts for him and the 2 boys, and my dress). Men sewing is sexy!
Love the quilt Rob, watched Jenny's original and this variation is fab. Think my sister will love it too so hope to make for her in purple. Thanks both for all the inspiration, keep it coming for all your fans here in the UK.
This quilt just pops!! I saw it in person first in Hamilton MO in the batiks shop! It captured my attention then, and I'm soooo glad to find the tutorial. I love the attention to lights and darks and how it gives the quilt depth and movement! Can't wait to make one of my own!!
I have pretty gray/browns for this quilt from Stonehenge. I can't wait! Have three quilt tops to quilt first... got three tops done before my quilt class got to the quilting part... I am putting falling leaves applique on the back of this quilt, oak leaves copied from my own trees! My next one has checkerboard squares in ivory and green (both are tiny twining vines) backing the Hunters Star. The third one has wild NM lizards bordered with turquoise and 8 blocks: bear, healer's hand, and tortoise embroidered blocks. I am having fun with the back and front both! I haven't figured what back for this one, but have the brown/gray fabric to inspire me...
I learned to quilt last year watching Jenny and love her videos, you are a welcome addition, I have fallen in love with this quilt but not all my strips are quite long enough to get three blocks from so I have sewn 3/8" seams, please don't send the quilting police. I look forward to watching your future projects and getting inspiration.
The Three Dudes Quilt is my absolute FAVORITE of all the tutorials Rob has done. I love the fabric colors that were used in this quilt "Sparkling Water" (I think). Plus having Jenny Doan on this episode is a great plus because I love everything she does. You really have to stay alert when watching Ron's tutorials because you just might miss out on what he is doing -- he is SO FAST. But that's okay because I love everything he does (except when he was jumping up and down on beds in another one of his videos). I can just imagine that happening in many homes when there are little boys in the family. I am only teasing -- I even enjoyed watching him jump !! Keep up the good work, Rob.
hello, this quilt was so cool i loved it!!!!. Jenny you always make everything so easy & fun, I always watch you Jenny. cant wait to start sewing this quilt. Thank you all for your contributions & talents you give us.
I enjoyed this video tutorial the most because Rob demonstrated how to organize the 3 different color ways. It made the process less intimidating and totally doable.
I just finished my quilt that I made with your pattern. Now I made some mistakes and changes but it turned out great!! First I didn’t really catch your not using a standard 1/4” seam allowance so my blocks were going he wrong size and I couldn’t get the right number of them out of each strip. So I ordered a second roll up and that actually turned to my advantage because I also hadn’t noticed it was a square quilt! 🤦♀️ So I also ordered more of the skinny black strips and added two additional middle rows. But it turned out beautifully! Big enough for a full size with a nearly floor length drop. Or shorter for a queen. I thought I’d be able to post a picture but it looks like I can’t. I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed making this quilt!
I made this quilt as well. It came out very nice. It was made with pinks, oranges, and purples. It was very.....loud, like most of my quilting! I appreciate the opportunity to win the Panasonic iron for you. Thank you for the opportunity.
This quilt tutorial is my favorite, I have started mine and can't wait to finish it. Really hard to decide which of Rob's tut's I like most because they're all fun and well done. Rob's a great instructor. And the variety of projects is wonderful. Thanks Rob and MSQC.
I just finished a pink/black/white version of this quilt and LOVE it! Can't wait to give it to my niece for her high school graduation, although it's so gorgeous I wish I were keeping it for myself. 😁
I tired making this quilt with striped fabric for grand daughter. I wish I seen this video first... The quilt turned out over all cute, But smaller then planned. With doing this quilt, if need to, you can replace strip(s) .. Being New to quilting, I am learning a lot, along the way, making good use of my seam ripper. And finding many of my 12" blocks having to be cut to 11, or 10" from their boo, boo's. LOVE THIS QUILT, and the way you guys made it. deffently going on to my future project list.
My favorite because I'm making this next. I have the fabric from Msqc. I did love the baseball fabric and the "baseballs" You tutored. I made a quilt and two stuffed baseballs for my great grandson for Christmas.
I am making this starting this weekend, and I can't wait! I've purchased a pack of 2.5 inch strips - 40 Karat Gems Sunny Side Up! I think it's going to look so nice, I am eager to begin!
This quilt is so beautiful! I always thought building a quilt was a lot of cutting small pieces and sewing small pieces so I’d never been interested in it. But a jelly roll quilt like this would be so easy! I’d just need the space. I would screw my placement up so many times 🤣 I think I just need to start small! One of the fabric stores in town may do a quilt throw pillowcase and I will be signing up for that class so fast! I can’t wait to learn how to do this! I wish the “Block of the Month” wasn’t just geared toward retired old ladies because it’s something I’d love to take part in, but the blocks are hideous! Thank you for this wonderful video from 5+ years ago 😂 I’m sure my comment won’t even get read! But thank you so much for eliminating the fear of sewing a quilt top! I’m forever grateful! 💙🧵
I was so inspired to make this, but I didn't know if it would turn out...so I made a smaller version as a wall hanging out of batiks I purchased from the local fabric store and made my own strip sets. It turned out so amazingly!! Looks like stained glass 😎 Now I'm ready to buy the strip sets from Missouri Star and make a larger version. Thanks Rob and Jenny!
This is a great video and a besutiful quilt. My husband and I tried making this quilt. And, after watching this many times and then trying to replicate it , I would add one piece of advice for us beginners. Precut lengths vary and in our case the width with these measurements made less than three squares. We had to rip two sections apart (slow learners.) Anyways my advice is to match up all the strips at at least one of the ends to insure longer pieces of available material and two add up the width of the rows based on useable fabric width, not sewn yet, and divide into length of the shortest jelly roll piece. Then decrease the width of the thin strips as needed to satisfy the three blocks per panel requirement. Again, great video. Thanks for sharing. PS I love the building video too.
Beth Cooley Thanks for the great advice! That is definitely something to consider when using precuts for any pattern!! :) I hope to see pics of your quilt!
I just love this video! It has Rob AND Jenny, my two favorite quilting icons! I absolutely love this three dudes quilt version. I am planning to make this quilt for my husband. Thank you so much for the guidance and inspiration!
Love this quilt; great tutorial. You did a fairly great job at explaining this so not sure why some comments are saying their confused. Love, simply love the colorway you chose for this quilt. I will be making this one.
Thank you for this pattern. Finally had the time to finish it. Once it is back from the quilters I will send you a picture. This was such an impressive pattern.
I am a beginner. This is my 3rd quilt. It’s not perfect but I had fun making it! Was not easy and quick for me. But I am happy with the skills I’m acquiring watching Man Sewing!!!
Hey way to go!!!!! It's great to see Man Sewing. Your design is awesome, I will have to watch this a few more times to get the whole thing sorted but once I have I think pinks and light colours will be what I want to do. Thank you so much x
Love this quilt and the awesome design so much that my mother-in-law (my quilting hero) and I are working on it together. Thank you for all the great tutorials!
I love the Stained Glass Quilt, I bought a jelly roll and the lack Itsy Bitsy Pixie! I love Jenny from Missouri Star Quilt! This spring my club "The Material Girls" are going to Hamilton, Mo. To see her store!
Oh my goodness! My two absolutely favorite quilting gurus!!!
Hello Cindy how are you doing over there ?

I wish Utube would have a category to indicate multiple views (ie.a favorite video). I love watching Jennie and Rob make this quilt.
I can’t believe it! This guy has got me excited about sewing....I’ve never been excited about sewing lol
Ha! I'm sure it's cooler looking than you think, Chuck. Thanks so much for watching the tutorial, and I hope you had a blast making the quilt!

This is my favorite Man Sewing Tutorial. Definitely my style of quilt and you and Jenny are so wonderful together.
My bucket list is an Attic window quilt
Two of my favorite people to watch on youtube making a pattern from another favorite with beautiful fabric... will be watching this one more than once for the pattern and for the fun!

Loved watching you and Jenny making this quilt!
I loved this quilt and the color wave you used. Jenny and you are such a fun team to watch when you work together.
I made this quilt as well. It came out very nice. It was made with pinks, oranges, and purples. It was very.....loud, like most of my quilting! I appreciate the opportunity to win the Panasonic iron for you. Thank you for the opportunity.
You get to work with Jenny Doan!! Dream job!!! Wonderful!!
Lu ODell she's a rockstar! So much fun!
This quilt is brilliant--and I love that it uses just 1 jelly roll and solid strips!
That sounds awesome, Lyn! Feel free to share a picture of it with me on my Man Sewing Facebook page, or emailing me at hello@mansewing.com!
This is my absolute favorite! Such a gorgeous quilt. Thanks Rob and Jenny!
hi dear Ellen how are you doing over there ?
I am making this starting this weekend, and I can't wait! I've purchased a pack of 2.5 inch strips - 40 Karat Gems Sunny Side Up! I think it's going to look so nice, I am eager to begin!
This is my favorite tutorial. Two of my favorite people and a really cool quilt.
+Montgomery Smith Be sure and share photos with us on our social media!! We would love to see!!
Thank you Rob and MSQC for publishing all these great videos.

Hey way to go!!!!! It's great to see Man Sewing. Your design is awesome, I will have to watch this a few more times to get the whole thing sorted but once I have I think pinks and light colours will be what I want to do. Thank you so much x
