Brilliant !!!! I’m so pleased that your video popped up. The saying you’re never too old too learn so at 83 I’m real excited to sew these strips asap. Thanks once again 🌻 calling from South Africa
I Love This video, I have been quilting for 50 years, and I still learned 3 new things from watching your video, 1. Leaving the fabric to cool after ironing it, so you don't put the wrinkles back in (brilliant), 2. A better way to sew strips sets (shortening the stitch length), and 3. A wonderful new pattern ( I Love It). Thank You for sharing Your Time, and Your Talent with all of us. I always enjoy your videos. It's always a good day when you learn something new, Thank You.

Just had to tell you, Rob..... I needed to stitch (6) 1.5" strips together for a table topper. I watched your video two more times. Took everything you said to heart and did my best to mimic your excellent work. I'm here to report, the strip set should measure 6.5.....AND IT DOES!!! THANKS for this invaluable tutorial! And to anyone else who reads this comment, if you want an accurately pieced strip set, watch this tutorial and follow Rob's instructions.

I've just discovered your videos on your other channel in the last couple of days and have been enjoying them a lot. And now I'm pleased find you here. Your style is interesting and informative. I do want to comment on one small thing --- I appreciate how thrifty you are and your carefulness not to waste fabric. I am a frugal person and often I find that I stop enjoying someone's quilting video because of the wasteful way they use their fabric. It's a small thing but it's something that matters to me and I'm so glad to have found an excellent quilter who respects that fabric is expensive. Actually, there is a second thing that I found that makes your videos unitque --- you're careful to actually press as you sew, which other people keep saying is so important, but then they aren't doing it as they are demonstrating their quilting. You are presenting excellent videos with very informative content.
I like your voice. Very easy to listen to you. I am 80 years old so hearing isn’t the best and I really like the way you put those blocks together. Thank you so much tonight it’s the first night I’ve listen to you Arnold Schwarzenegger says I’ll be back.

Hi Rob, I use a 5lb dumbbell to hold my ruler down on long cuts, it works great! I learned this from Donna Jordan, my other fav!!! When my bird joins me in my sewing room he perches on the dumbbell and watches me if he's not trying to supervise! 😂

So glad that someone credited Donna Jordan with the tip of using the weight. I actually use that with all my cutting unless it's a really short cut. Picked up a couple good tips from this video, thanks Rob! Just found out my niece is having another baby soon and love this pattern for a baby quilt! Will play with strip width and # of strips to get a good size. Thank!
Rob, I love it when you explain what happened and how to adjust when things don't go perfectly. It give me a chance to learn how I made the same mistakes. Thanks for the tutorial and making quilting more fun! Happy Quilting!
Rob you are so awesome! Thank you for sharing your wisdom and humor. I appreciate when you explain why you are doing something to help us understand and build our skills. 😊
When squaring up your fabric and cleaning that first edge, to make sure you've gotten the whole length, once cut, let the tiny sliver open up. If it is one wof (width of fabric), length you got the whole length square. If it's in two or more pieces it's still not squared and it needs cut till it's one wof cut. Hope that makes sense? Sometimes you can't see underneath and this method prevents a narrow section in your strip cutting. Love your tips and tricks. I too put lines on my ironing board to prevent grabbing that 3ft long ruler, which kept falling over on the floor when not using it, and this method keeps your ironing squared and stops any wobble. Easy tip to continue to stay squared all the way through the process. Happy sewing Rob, you Rocked this video once again!!!!
“Waterskiing behind the fabric” ha ha. Love your humour which makes your videos much more interesting than just straight teaching. That remark will make it easier to remember the point you are trying to get across. First starting watching you on Missouri Star. Glad I found you again.
Hi Rob I started watching you when you were doing Man Sewing when I saw you with Jenny and MSQC. I’m glad I stumbled across this video. I still like your flair, time lapse and your detail. Take care. Marian from CA.
DUDE! My mind is blown!! I cannot believe that is a strip quilt!. Wow! This has opened my brain to a whole new way of designing easy quilts using fabrics I have that I could not figure out what to do with. This is AMAZING! Thanks, Rob!! You rock, as always :)
I love you and your style! Uplifting and fun. (duh!) The SLOW DOWN and make the stitch length shorter hint is brilliant. Without knowing it, I have actually been assembling that way for years. Maybe it was a zillion years of garment sewing. Who knows. Have the bulk off to the left of the machine just makes sense. Thank you again for your fun lessons. Have already with shared with two new quilters. Learn it correctly from the start is my motto!
FIRST TIME!! OMG thank you!! I am a brand new sewer of anything. Thank you for going slow and explaining everything! Thank you for explaining pressing. No wonder I have quit even trying to sew. Now I am super excited to try again!!!
Never give up! Use mistakes as learning opportunity! Mistakes are best teachers,as more we mess up,loose time and even money, more we learn at the end and more lesson stays with us...especially when picking up new crafting technique and when don’t know almost nothing about craft, know ahead you’ll make ton of mistakes, accept them ahead of time, embrace them.more you will value every lesson, every wow moment when you realise how to avoid problem and when you’ll become grate at what you do you’ll know you got there cos of you’re persistence and ability to observe and learn...sewing really just looks easy, but it’s quite complicated craft, craft where devil is in detail and every tip and trick matters...Give you’re self time to learn all about machine, fabrics, problem shooting with bad stitches.Hope you gonna have grate time and gain loads of confidence in nothing of time and create beautiful things, get satisfaction of all process of learning and just doing, just wish you and every new crafter in any craft best of luck and best energy through hardest time-when you’re still learning and gaining experience and confidence,so yeah, never give up on you’re dreams and ambitions, keep in mind that in a year if you keep doing whatever you choose,if you’re persistent, you’ll be grate! 💐🤗🍀
Love the comment of you are not waterskiing behind the fabric...makes me remember the one handed lean to see just how far out you could go on the rope...and the tension on the rope was wild...
I di that too. Also, leaned it from Donna at Jordan's Fabric. We're so lucky to have so many Quinting Instructors. Thanks Rob. You Rock. Live your videos.
This way of sewing those strips together is great because of the fabric saved. It might not be much but sometimes you on,y need a little extra. I have never heard anyone say to shorten the stitch length when sewing strips and I have been quilting for years . Thanks 😊
Hi Rob! I love watching your videos. I always learn something from each of them. This video in particular. I have always struggled with strip sets. This has been a game changer for me! SLOW DOWN you said. Change stitch length to 2.0. Seriously? I started sewing strip sets for a Bargello which I have never done. My seams have never been straighter and more accurate. I'm still a smidge off on the 1/4" seam but, I can live with a smidge. They are all consistent now. TY TY TY!
hi from Kansas City MO in my reading QHHC, I was a frog like character. had a long life, I was in charge of the group. beautiful colors. it was a happy life. cool
Rob, this is amazing. You're tutoring is clear and easy to follow. The length is worth every minute. You're so funny. And your block is waww...unbelievable great. Thank you so much for this very unique block. I ❤ it.
I am in a wheelchair, when I cut long cuts of fabric, I use hand weights to hold the end of my ruler. It also helps to have a ruler with a rough side that does not slide. Thanks for the great tips!
Whoa! Welcome back Rob!!! I just stumbled upon your video and I am thrilled that you are back online. Thank you, Michael Miller Fabrics for adding Rob into your team! I'm subbed up, with a happy face today. Looking forward to to all the wonderful teaching and creations he will bring into my sewing room. Happy Spring! GrammyD
Hi from Hertfordshire, UK. Great video as usual, thank for the tips. I start sewing my strip sets from the left, that way you don’t have to turn them upside own.

Although I took home ed in HS way back when I never got into sewing machines until the face mask crunch. LOVE your attitude and your clear explanations. You're techniques make my fingers itch to retry quilting. Looking forward to seeing more of your online journey. Thank you!!
That is such a quick and easy pattern with such a great look. I think I will pick it up and make a baby quilt in bright colors for our new great grandchild what is on it's way. Thank you Rob for a really great tutorial 👍 greetings from Germany
Great advice and easily followed, thanks. One extra tip for those of use who can’t reach the far side of the ruler. A small hand weight ,3 lbs or more, will keep the end of your ruler from slipping. From Donna Jordan of Jordan Fabrics. I love the tip about seeing a thread width of the lower fabric. Totally changed my accuracy.❤
Most excellent! You are SO easy to listen to; don't blather on and on about things not related to what your doing [reminds me a little of Jenny, :) ] and you slip pearls of wisdom all through your lesson!! Letting the fabric cool, and new to me, not sewing each strip join from opposite directions. Treating the strips as you do obviously removes the dreaded "bowing" we always get sewing from one direction. Looking forward to attaching the next strip....brilliant! I want to make a quilt for my brother and this block will be perfect. Thank you Rob!!! As always you rock!! :-D
Sorry Rob I forgot to say Well done on Michael Miller ambassadorship! I love Michael Miller. In fact his is the only black I buy! It’s beautiful and truly black and great quality like all his fabrics
I was going to add the comment about using a weight (a la Donna Jordan) but it has already been done! Great video, Rob. I learned several good points. Now if I could only get my 1/4 inch seam to be consistent.
Love this block! So glad someone besides me has a brain that moves faster than the words can come out of their mouth 😉 I am on my third quilt and used a pattern for only one. Brain keeps going in a different direction. Keep bringing your energy and joy to us- love it!

Have already with shared with two new quilters. Learn it correctly from the start is my motto!
Not at all disorganized. I am learning so much and love your personality. You seem to be a bit like me, You are a great teacher.. Thank you so much
My friend brought that block in yesterday to our quilt group a lot of the ladies are going to be making that Thanks watch you way back when!
I really like Michael Miller fabrics. I enjoy watching you too Rob, your enthusiasm is catching! Sew on brother!
Wow what a beautiful post I love it , how are you doing doing and I hope to hear from you soon🌹🌹🌹
You can't even keep count of the number of tips and tricks he gives you! Simply educational, Rob Thank you!!!
I absolutely love 💕 to watch you Rob! You are a great teacher. Thank you for sharing your tips and tutorials.
Love the comment of you are not waterskiing behind the fabric...makes me remember the one handed lean to see just how far out you could go on the rope...and the tension on the rope was wild...
Wow what a beautiful post I love it , how are you doing doing and I hope to hear from you soon🌹🌹🌹
I put a 5 lb dumbell on the end of my ruler. It really helps, especially when cutting more than 4 layers. Great show, btw.
I di that too. Also, leaned it from Donna at Jordan's Fabric. We're so lucky to have so many Quinting Instructors. Thanks Rob. You Rock. Live your videos.
Me too - an absolutely life-changing tip picked up from Donna Jordan :)
I also use a dumbbell at the end of my ruler.
I do, too. Learned it from Donna Jordan.
Donna Jordon does wonderful videos, she breaks everything down and makes sewing a quilt together so much easier.
TY TY TY!
Thank you for showing this method which made a difference . My name is Christiana I will like to watch the next video.
Great pattern. I am into quick and easy right now. Michael Miller makes the best fabrics. Big fan of the Fairy Frost line. You do the best videos.
Wow what a beautiful post I love it , how are you doing doing and I hope to hear from you soon🌹🌹🌹

Rob, this is amazing. You're tutoring is clear and easy to follow. The length is worth every minute. You're so funny. And your block is waww...unbelievable great. Thank you so much for this very unique block. I ❤ it.
Thanks Rob, that was very helpful & a lot of fun! Now I know how to strip sew (very useful) & I love the patterns it made.
"Waterskiing" omigosh I will NEVER forget that visual! Thanks Rob, you have a new fan :)
I am in a wheelchair, when I cut long cuts of fabric, I use hand weights to hold the end of my ruler. It also helps to have a ruler with a rough side that does not slide. Thanks for the great tips!
Lots of great tips. Thank you Rob.

Hi from Hertfordshire, UK. Great video as usual, thank for the tips. I start sewing my strip sets from the left, that way you don’t have to turn them upside own.
Me too!
This is super helpful!! I desperately needed this video today. Thank you so much for explaining each step.
Found my new favorite teacher ❤

Although I took home ed in HS way back when I never got into sewing machines until the face mask crunch. LOVE your attitude and your clear explanations. You're techniques make my fingers itch to retry quilting. Looking forward to seeing more of your online journey. Thank you!!

That is such a quick and easy pattern with such a great look. I think I will pick it up and make a baby quilt in bright colors for our new great grandchild what is on it's way. Thank you Rob for a really great tutorial 👍 greetings from Germany
😍😍😍😍😍Wow what a beautiful post I love it , how are you doing doing and I hope to hear from you soon
So glad I watched your video. The block is beautiful.
Lovely fabric and lots of great information! Thank you!

@@anthonjonsson2651 Thank you. I am well. Hope you are doing well too.
@@ladycrafts1885 thanks you very much well hope we could be friends and get to know more about each other if you don’t mind
“Normally I’d have half the quilt built by now!”
You’re hilarious, I love You
WOW! Love it. You're such a Great teacher. Thanks so much.

Роб, большое спасибо за такой подробный мастеркласс! Очень эффектный блок получается 👍
Love the pattern and your choice of colors. Thank you for the tips too.
😍😍😍😍😍Wow what a beautiful post I love it , how are you doing doing and I hope to hear from you soon

Love this block! So glad someone besides me has a brain that moves faster than the words can come out of their mouth 😉 I am on my third quilt and used a pattern for only one. Brain keeps going in a different direction. Keep bringing your energy and joy to us- love it!
