If didn't spray entire tent & cover with waterproofing spray, PLEASE, do along with a protective ceramic coating, as can help protect from weather & makes it easy to clean. Pretty cool looking. Cheers, A
I’d recommend getting a 2inch memory foam mattress topper in full size It makes that mattress way more comfortable especially if you sleep on your side

This is a very sweet mod for those who love camping. The only bad part is you're reducing the already bad MPG anywhere from 2-5mpg. Although that's probably not your biggest concern if you have a Toyota Tacoma.
my parrents had a thing like this back in the 60's on there vw bug it was called a camp hotel and it was awsome it had a bathroom and kitchen that you could set up.
Hey Zack, question. Can the tent be setup to open towards the back of the truck rather than to the side? I think it means bottom to holders rails rotate 90 deg. Thanks

This was great. I did notice what is probably a manufacturer DEFECT on the support bars... you mentioned the little triangle things on the bars that go from the bed to the tent could be used to sturdy up the whole thing, but I noticed on the right or passenger side they face each other while on the left driver side they face out. I don't know what they are for exactly but the asymmetry bothered me, especially since whatever the function it won't work the same on both sides. Also I'm picky and like a symmetrical aesthetic. Thanks for the video.
The two rods for the window fly behind the cab did you figure out how to use both? Mine is close and I can only use 1, thinking of sliding tent back some more
So much nicer than a Hilux. Honestly, they should sell the Tacoma here in Europe as well. The Hilux is more of a work truck than a leisure vehicle. Plus it’s very narrow and the seats are cramped.
I saw another RUclipsr who added bed stiffeners to his Tacoma for added support. Not sure if he has a Gen 2 or 3. But they might help. The RUclipsr is Maxx Powell.
I've been considering a tent for my Taco also.. You should get on Tacoma World and get some ideas for future mods Zack. Lots of really great stuff, like Raptor-style lights in the grill. I did that one. Is this video at the top of the point? I grew up in Sandy. P.S. I'll take your old shocks if you still have them. They're useful for us 2nd Gen owners.

How hard was it to put the rain fly on? I was looking at more expensive RTTs that don't need one. I was just wondering if the cost savings is worth going through the trouble of putting the rain fly on every time? By the way, thanks for the great video! Doesn’t the Tacoma have a composite bed? I think it needs to be reinforced with bed stiffeners. I’m not sure though.

Why are these roof racks made so that the tent sticks up just above the cab roof? Why not lower it a hair so the stowed tent doesn't create drag?
