Dude, I just bought one for a 6.5' bed. Love it, never on the ground again.rain cover works like a charm. Going to build a riser ( drawer) for the mattress , mine didn't set between the fenders, doesn't really matter when your sleeping, but I can use the storage. Great video keep up the great work.
I've been fighting with a tarp over my ladder rack for a long time.. This looks way better! And way cheaper than the shell and roof top tent I'm dreaming of!
Well at least we know what their favorite trucks are. LOL That's the one thing I like about the Tacoma, that 110 or 220 plug in. LOVE IT.

I have the Rightline for a Ram 1500 and it does work really well. Only downside with any tent and this one is no different is if you do have to use your rainfly, it gets very hot inside due to NO air flow. Otherwise, it's a great setup.
I have one for my RAM 1500 and it works great. Easy and quick to put up and take down. I definitely recommend this.
I stayed in a truck tent in Alaska for 2 months...great set up. The only downside was that if you camped multiple nights and wanted to use your truck you had to dismantle and set up again every day. Mine was big enough that I could put my mountain bike in it which helped this situation. But it was a very cool way to camp.
I would be worried about the straps touching the paint , If your vehicle is any kind of dirty it would leave micro scratches with the straps…how do your paint hold up
I just got mine and am going to try it out next weekend here in New Mexico. I have the 5 ft. bed for a Nissan Frontier. Very helpful video.

I truck camped before I'd ever heard of overlanding using my Avalanche & a truck tent. It was great because I also had access to the interior of the truck by folding down the midgate, etc. I found the setup to be clunky, but worked exceptionally well when all set up. Bonus was that I used the hard bed panels as my table tops!
Overlanding is a simple word Overlanding is self-reliant overland travel to remote destinations where the journey is the principal goal. It’s a simple practice way and keeps u off the ground 😎👍

The wife and I still have many fond memories of the truck bed tent and air mattress in Anza--the perfect gateway setup. Ha. Thanks for doing this video and hopefully it will help others get out there.
I have this tent , we camp in the high Sierra's we use a memory foam mattress which is an exact fit for the bed of the truck with the fender Wells cut out on mattress, good 3 season tent

Cool video, shows it can be done on a budget, honestly though, get yourself a roof top tent you will not regret it. I am so glad I did, I'll never go back to camping on the ground or in the bed of my truck. Plus you can literally set them up and be camping in five minutes.

Great video and I have truck bed camped all over the east last year. One downside for anyone considering buying is that you either throw all your other gears into the second row seat or carry them out and store in some kind of shelter. That's the only downside for me.
I use a Decked drawer system for most gear and the other stuff is in waterproof bags or cases that I can set just under the back of the truck/tailgate area.

I have this tent in a 6' Taco bed. I love it. I use a cot. So far wind and rain.... no issues.
Being old and fat I need a step stool to get into the truck but other than that it gets the job done.
Very nice and informative review! I actually bought one after seeing this video. A few weeks ago I bought a new 2019 TRD Off Road Tacoma. I will use this tent to camp out on our property, with my son and his friends( we own a horse farm on a river). It will be nice to be off the ground and it sets up easily (well my son did most of the work - He's an Eagle Scout so he could set up most tents in his sleep). Your reviews are very nice and informative (I subscribed).

A single height air mattress would give you more headroom but the tent looks great except it's a shame that it doesn't have an awning over the entry.
Yes I agree I just chose this one only because of the it came with a pump built in and for the price it was I couldn’t pass on but I do agree for someone a bit big than myself I would just opt for a smaller height mattress, I agree :/ but there’s many awning options you can buy from other company’s if anything but would be nice if it came offered, thank you for watching my friend
I legit wish I could just drive my taco around with the tent on back at all times
I own a RTT and let me say it’s great and all but it’s a lot of effort to remove and reinstall it so basically it’s sits up on my rack 24/7 regardless is your using it or not. That’s 100 lbs. of constant weight, every day. Forget going to a car wash and my cover is starting to fade/wear so I’ll be spending another $100.00 to replace the cover. You can’t drive the vehicle when the tent is deployed and it takes time to stow it away nicely. I have it installed on a roof rack of a lifted Hummer 3 so it’s very high and takes a lot of effort to set it up and take down with a lot of climbing around the vehicle. I just bought a 2020 Tundra Crewmax and just ordered a bed tent like this. Looking forward to the easy set up and take down!

Why would you use such a tall inflatable bed that eats up your head room? Get a cheaper 8” thick one homes!
I highly agree with u only reason I chose this one, 1 the brand 2 the price was $30 when I got it which is cheap considering it came with a fast pump , but all in all I agree a smaller one would be way better 👍

If you can't where it might rain I was just getting the truck bed tent that has the liner built-in for the bed. You'll stay dryer and you don't have to clean out the bed of your truck
Thought about this, definitely a good idea, like being off the ground but then you have to take everything out of the bed. Ground tent working for us until we get a rtt.
That’s a downside but I feel safer to be honest lol , yea eventually I’ll end up getting a rtt

Ive had mine for a year and used it a couple times on multi night campouts. I have a Dodge Ram 1500 with 6.5' bed. It goes up fast, comes down fast, fits into a small container. I use a silver reflective cover for summer which really helps keep it cool when the sun comes out. I wish it had some kind of integrated canopy that would go over the door so that when it is raining out I can keep the door open and sit on my tailgate without getting wet. I suppose I'll just have to get a popup canopy.
Not sure if this is helpful or not, but you can actually combine the Ridgeline truck tent (whatever truck size) with the Ridgeline SUV tent to create an extra storage/sleeping area that is water tight and connected to the truck tent. The tailgate can be sat upon or used as a table from inside the SUV tent. Its actually pretty cool if you need the extra space (or just want to sit on the tailgate in the rain).
I havnt seen any videos on the tent combo, but there are pictures on google showing the set up if it is something that interests you and within your camping budget.

Good job guys, I have the 6ft version and I also have a tri fold tonneau cover, the tent still fits with the tonneau folded up, it's a bit sloppy but it's good enough to keep the weather out. After you set it up a half dozen times it goes real quick.

I do have the Napier long bed tent for the tacoma it is nice he is correct its poles are to long this set up is better mattress I use I can't remember but it covers the wells and isn't as high as his which is better
Now I have a Pittman outdoor bed the one for the video has been long gone lol
I have the same set up , except I have a DCLB 4x4 ,,and my custom bed tent has an awning ,I like it because it’s more economical (gas mileage and weight), saves packing space and I don’t have to run bed bars or a rooftop tent , saves space for my 4 wheeler ,,plus when I’m daily driving I don’t look like search and rescue when I’m in line for a “double double” at In N Out👉🏼😉😎,,,great video bro.

RTT are great if your going on an trip but I see too many people just daily driving around with their RTT on the the truck. I’ll stick with a tent set up too.

Spend the money get a roof top tent and a bed rack, saves time unloading/loading/setting up plenty of room for storage it’s worth it

Sportz makes a better truck tent that has an enclosed bed liner so when it rains, the water in your truck bed cannot get to you. They also have a tent that extends past the tailgate so you have a place to stand up n change clothes.
I chose to go without a floored tent because i don't want all the dirt trapped in there when you take it down
I have the Napier. It has a full bottom instead of just the top. It has 4 tent poles. Its not droopy nor do you need the orange straps on the inside to tighten it down.. I prefer not sleeping directly on the bed too. After watching this I think the Napier is way better with less dirt inside and less of a chance of getting wet or the dirt in the bed turning to mud. Also that mattress is crap. Pittman outdoors has an actual truck bed mattress that is virtually punture proof.
That mattress is ridiculous! Get a inflatable bed that’s half as thick, resulting in more space and comfort. Also put a liner between your truck bed and your mattress, if not it will puncture on the smallest of thorns screw heads etc. That is a nice tent perfect for the truck bed.

this is cool as hell.... i will say you can get some cheap foam mattresses off overstock, but if they get wet that sucks, the inflatables are easy to clean/dry

Good stuff guys. Truck camping has gotten my attention and I have been looking at options. With my little Jeep TJ there is no room to do anything other than throw a tent on the ground old school style, but when I pick up a truck I would want an option other than a hard topper for some camping trips and that tent looks like a very cool way to go. Thanks for posting this vid, Jesse. If the tent was assembled and fastened securely, would it hold up if you drove off? And, for winter overlanding, which portable heater would you recommend using for this type of tent? Thanks for your time.

I bought the same tent years ago and have yet to try it out, great price though and there’re very similar models on Amazon for similar prices now too
Love your enthusiasm😀 and some great suggestions. I'd rather just use my swag though to be honest, so much quicker. And you can use it on your ute back (truck bed) as well as the ground (they're more common here in Australia I guess though). Have done many 1wk and 2wk trips (recent one 4000km), stopping each night and the swag was easy as and comfy as.

Nice video. I just picked up a Tacoma and wondering how a bed tent would do vs a roof top tent. Your video was awesome with showing where all the clips go and the entire set up. Right on!!

Yea the video was more for the tent and budget side of things lol I’d recommend getting a pittsman outdoor bed it fits flush onto the truck and it’s wider
