I’ve owned and used a Capri (Cowboy model) for about three years now. Mine was ordered pretty spartan, and is comfortable from 10F to 90F with just the ceiling fan/vent. The trick is to think of it as a rigid tent that one doesn’t have to erect or strike, and not to think of it as a portable palace. Good folks to work with, Capri. Highly recommended.
@@instakee7040 the unit on back is covered by the car policy, and if not you have the wrong carrier, actually finding a real truck camper now is hard, they've all been bought up by people losing their lives in the covid coverup,i bought mine in the nick of time, its an oldie, the absolute first thing you do with a camper or c class is mop the roof, water leaks suck, use the expensive stuff, then everything you put in it stays dry,ive lived in one for years, every divorce i'm back in the camper, for awhile, its nice to get lost,oh yeah be damn sure to buy 2to 3 acres somewhere to come off the road for awhile, repairs are best made at home,i bought 2 for 7000 and never regretted the purchase, neighbors constantly wanting to buy it ,what for ? there camper of course
Been RV'ing since 1977, having 7 rigs in all, and 4 Truck Campers, every one built by Lance Campers! They are Solid performers, and built right! Never ever had a Major issue with them, at all! Midrange Price to most other competitors too!
Happy with my $34K Lance 865 with almost every option on it. 1 Year of ownership no regrets.....They could do a little better job of maximizing the storage area but, I'm happy!
Gotta love #6. It has just about everything you can reasonably expect (tv too, lol) and prices start at 10K. That's for a full sized truck so it's a decent size. If anyone is going to spend 100K or more, you'd be better off with a totally tricked out 5th. wheel and you'd still be able to unhook it and utilize your truck like normal.
There's a lot of great ideas in this video. Of course someone with some skill can build one themselves, but who has the time. The one thing I loved most about this video is that all the products are made here in the USA. Regardless of the overpriced items shown here, it's nice to see companies making products by Americans for Americans.
Best part is I have had numerous RVs in my past. Which allows me the most practical choices in my knowledge base as being best suited for my needs. First of all never buy new as I have lost time and time again. Second in your search for the perfect model for your needs always try to assume your future needs. The On board Onan 5500 Generator allows for any excess power needs. 4- AGM series 34 batteries in the front with separate 40 watt panel to maintain complete charge.105 gals. of water storage allows for showers every other day for a couple weeks. 3 - Fantastic fans for hot air exhaustion so as to limit AC use. My grandpa used to have an old ford bronco with a HUGE camper on the back, used it as his hunting truck. Every single year drove it from Florida to Colorado, to Ohio, Montana, everywhere. He ended up getting rid of it around 2005, it had over 500,000 miles on it.
The prices of some of these truck bed campers are unbelievably High. The last $45k for a bare shell, $115k outfitted. You could buy a really good travel trailer with lots of money left over or a full motor home for that kind of cash.
Those 10k and below ones look pretty neat. I work on the road around the country and when I'm not working I like to go up north to the mountains and camp. This could be perfect for someone like me.
Arctic Fox seemed like the best choice/price to me, it sure why these things are so high priced? Can get a fully self contained trailer for way less. Most of these look like do it yourself style shells/campers. Got a good feeling from the Arctic Fox brand and this is the style I’m looking for. Thanks for the video!
You can buy camper truck shells in Canada for 6-10 thousand....we use them for our work trucks, no windows at all....you can have either double/ single doors or have the whole back of the camper open up over head...I think they purchased them from Action Caps in Nova Scotia....looks like the diablo model but a bit larger...

I built my own, and even with "free labor" and quite a bit of free materials, I was surprised at the prices for some things that are specific for campers. The jacks/legs to raise the camper to load/unload it on the truck were $900.00 for 4. A good fridge is from $700.00-$2,000.00 A/C units are $600.00-$1,800.00 then just the little stuff adds up quick, ie, interior wood, stain, paint, sealer, windows, plumbing and electric, etc.. My cost was $3,500.00 but fortunately I was able to get most of the materials for the structual part for free, the interior is what was the most costly. (Except the jacks/legs, I ended up buying 4 new, $900.00) So add in labor, warranties, overhead, etc. And I can see how they can get so expensive.
FYI: propane tanks hanging on the back do not meet DOT rules to be within the vehicles bumpers. Nobody has ever been ticketed. However, an accident that causes injuries or damage as a result of those propane tanks rupturing during an accident is your, not insurance’s, unlimited liability.
The prices they want for these are ridiculous. $45,000 for a shell? You can buy an enclosed trailer or around $4,000 and build whatever you want for much cheaper.
sounds like you've got yourself a very big profit margin if you know how to do it yourself already. build a trailer for 4,000$ and sell it for $45k. thats 41 thousand dollars in your pocket

All a Matter of Opinion, of course, but Lance Campers are MY pick! I have owned 6 Different Brands through the years, since 1978, actually! seen a few of these as well! But for pure Luxury and Value, and Durability, and Options, Go Lance!!!
The prices of these things just blow me away. One of those campers that fit on the back of your pickup truck is $145,000. Do you know what kind of cabin I can buy up north in Michigan for that. Unbelievable. I think you got to be nuts to buy one of them things.
Interesting how the nicest campers cost the least, and the most basic ones cost as much or more than the truck they're supposed to mount to. I'd have to agree with several other commenters suggesting to build your own.
The best slide in truck campers are made in BC Canada. Northern Lite is hands down the best.Bigfoot is a close second. Check them out for yourself online. They are not cheap but hold their value if taken care of because they are 4 season and will not leak. I own a NL 10.2 and I can tell you it is a well made, well thought out camper that will keep you comfortable in almost any weather. Truck campers aren't for everyone, but if you need a camper, and want the best you need to check out Northern Lite and Bigfoot before deciding.
Impressive stuff...some of the prices are over the top...just got into this world with a pop up.....great way to go...slide in, get4 wheel, good rubber...go.....anywhere
Thanks for showing different options. The Capri seems to be the only one reasonably priced. All the other are ridiculous and I think they are trying to capitalize on the whole current "overlanding" fad. I wonder if they actual sell them at their list prices or if they negotiate to something more reasonable. I have a diesel pickup and have been camping with just a standard shell but I'd like something with more room so very interested in these but for the price they ask, I could buy a nice used class C or B. Most likely will end up with a used 4 Wheel Camper although they are hard to find.
I bought an old pop up camper for 1,000 bucks and used it the first weekend I had it. It rained the whole time but we had a blast inside listening to music, cooking, etc. I've since done a lot of upgrades, but I've also been enjoying it this whole time. So let someone else take that huge depreciation hit and go have some fun!
nothing wrong with my arctic oven tent with woodstove, that gives me room to throw the dogs, beer, wood, and whatever else I need IN THE BACK of my truck. Nothing wrong with sleeping in a nice warm 4 season tent, which is pretty much what a few of these campers are.
A lot of nice choices that you will pay out the butt for ! So.... do research , design it, buy materials, build it ! Thanks for the video and keep up the good work :)
The 2nd one starts at $27K? That’s crazy for something that cheap. The 6th one started at $10K and was a much better option. The 8th one for $145K was a complete joke. The Phoenix custom campers seemed like a great deal since they had multiple options and good pricing.
#8 The Drifter vagabondoutdoors.com @2:02 For around $7000 not a bad deal when you consider what guys are paying Leer and A.R.E. for just shells and gives me some real design ideas. Just looks like an MPG killer unless you are living in this.
The good overview video, but too much emphasis on pop up low-cost campers. Really need to have a video dedicated to each type of camper. I'm quite shocked that you did not include Lance campers in your evaluation, do you know about them? Keep up the good work and let's get better!
You forgot to include the best truck bed camper of them all - Kimbo Living! Check it out, it's freaking awesome! Wouldn't break the bank either, because they are quite affordable. And they are about to introduce an 8 feet version.
The prices on these would be hilarious if they were not so utterly obscene. Best design I ever saw for anything like these was the Flip-Pac canopy/camper that opened up from a canopy and flipped over the roof of your truck, simple but genius, the flip up part was your queen+ bed you had a flip down hanging bed as well and it left enough room for a cot for a 4th if need be, I saw some decked out with cabinets, sinks, stoves etc. just minus a bathroom although had storage for a porta potty and ability to have a outdoor shower. Owner sadly died and they closed the company.
The only one I like is the Capri. It's a spartanish truck camper. But for 'only' $10G...that's seems pretty good value. My second choice would be the Arctic Fox (the proper truck camper). Most of the others seem ridiculously overpriced for what they give. And if I am going to fork over money for one of these - it better have a bathroom. BTW - this announcer does a solid job, IMO.
I had no idea truck campers were priced so high; though I'm sure they are well engineered; but, still...Guess I 'ok just keep looking! Thanks for the info...
Very interesting to watch and see how much money people are willing to waste I’d rather buy a whole RV or motorhome for that kind of money for some of those things are asking or just go with the tent I don’t see that there are that many people willing to spend that kind of money but of course I may be wrong
So pencil you in for one of each ...got it. Since the boss is gone today, I'll even throw in free cup holders for only six small payments of $39.99 each.
Nice thing about the Capri, you can custom design it. Another words, only add what you really need for camping; why pay for & haul a microwave, full-size shower & a huge water tank when you don't want it! (If you need all the creature comforts of home, you should just stay there. The early Native Americans & the pioneers of this country survived just fine without flat screen tv's & flush toilets,..let's toughen up a little & camp with LESS!)
Even if a person could afford any of these, I find it much more fun to stay a few nights in my truck tent, or for longer camping trips I sue my Kodiak Canvas Flexbow. All together I have spent less than $1,000, for a great time and plenty of comfort. These are just very expensive toys.
Capri is a nice camper for the price. Arctic Fox has an amazing build quality and, if I am not mistaken, is 4 seasons rated/built. Overall, it is probably the best on this list. Some of these are very high priced, they are custom outfits. Google truck campers, you will see they are pricey. Doesn't matter what one you end up with.
45k? Empty shell? FT. Get a Northern Lite fiberglass shell.. already finished inside for same $$ They are high-end campers. The only camper on this list with any $$value was Arctic Fox.
#6 most bang for the buck but yes the starts at price. Can build a tiny house for way less!! Or a house for that matter AND buy the land. RV would be better choice!
Kevin Holland I’ll help you build yours if you’ll help me build mine, i can do fiberglass and wiring, you do welding ! We can do it for 1/4 or less the price of any listed !!
#6 ......... THAT would be My pick !!!!!!!!!! That is, assuming theyd feel sorry for me & cut that price by 50% .... I noticed he said" pricing starts at around 10k ......... So what this means is, A BASE model would be 10k, the one in the video would probably be more like 17k

The Capri is the best deal, even fully loaded they're a hell of a lot cheaper than most of the campers listed here.
Design you own....or refurbish an old one....just take a combination of what was shown here...you’ll be glad you did....

Capri is the best for a 5.5 short bed. Fully Power max 24,000-25,000 including your custom color and trim inside and out.
Liked them all , nice to know there's a wide selection of prices & size availability.
The good overview video, but too much emphasis on pop up low-cost campers. Really need to have a video dedicated to each type of camper. I'm quite shocked that you did not include Lance campers in your evaluation, do you know about them? Keep up the good work and let's get better!
The campers may be over priced, but the good news is you do not have to buy them. You can just enjoy the video free!!!!
I'm very grateful for the videos I've watched. I have saved a lot of money.
That's great news, I can just make fun of the fool who would buy any of them.
stupid
Cool, but the prices are crazy bro!!! I only paid 3300 for my 31ft. Dutchman Classic...
Tiger is my fav, the Bahn is most versatile but the cost is just plain goofy, trying to recoup cost of the plugs this week! lol
You forgot to include the best truck bed camper of them all - Kimbo Living! Check it out, it's freaking awesome! Wouldn't break the bank either, because they are quite affordable. And they are about to introduce an 8 feet version.
This next truck bed camper comes with a pool table - luxurious sauna - weight room - and swimming pool.
Is the pool Olympic size with diving board ?? How much more is a slide for the kids ??
Now there's an idea - a truck bed that's nothing but a twisty-turny vertically extendable waterslide.
Get yourself booked on Shark Tank!
SelectCircle I know right.
#7, pretty nice… more what I would need
I like the Kimbo Campers for $20,000.
Eureka campers ... I found them ,finally!
karen root I just called them ... their phone seems to be disconnected ???
What??? No Alaskan campers? Probably the best hard side pop up campers available.
Im willing to bet we have covered several Alaskan campers in one of our many camper related videos. Good suggestion though I agree.
This is a very helpful video as we are trying to decide what we want in a new truck bed camper. It is vary helpful in exploring options
Nice i like the Texas Capri
好棒的露营车。😄😃😀
The prices on these would be hilarious if they were not so utterly obscene. Best design I ever saw for anything like these was the Flip-Pac canopy/camper that opened up from a canopy and flipped over the roof of your truck, simple but genius, the flip up part was your queen+ bed you had a flip down hanging bed as well and it left enough room for a cot for a 4th if need be, I saw some decked out with cabinets, sinks, stoves etc. just minus a bathroom although had storage for a porta potty and ability to have a outdoor shower. Owner sadly died and they closed the company.
Anywhere from 10 to $20,000 is doable but this overpriced bulshit no way in hell. Absolutely ridiculous pricing.
The 2K pop ups on Craig's list are getting more and more attractive.
I used to work for #4, Tiger Adventure Vehicles. They do indeed build a high quality camper.
I love those, but my bank account won't cooperate.
Mine wouldn't either.
@@throttleissues9359 throttle mine either.
@@SHADOWBEAR82763 Shadow same here.
Capri.. From Texas.
I'm digging that Bengal built on that, Dodge with 4x4 & a Hemi.... NICE
@nexus169 That includes the camper and the one-tonne truck. It's a deal compared to the Bahn and several others on here.
Wow the prices ensure I'll never even step foot in one of these turdbuckets. I'd rather sleep in a dumpster, and spend the 30k on hamburgers!!!
LOLOLOL 😆😆😆😆😆
Hilarious!
Chris Bishop part
Get real people ...WAY OVER PRICED...proves they don't have the common man in mid to sell to ..!
HA HA HA HA! OMG! That was too funny! Thank you for the good laugh!
#3 was my favorite, even the price wasn't too high.
Very nice ..
Juan Chavez
I don't think you're wrong. Then again, I don't have 100K to waste....err, spend, lol.
whats your point?
Don’t worry about it if you don’t get it you don’t have to get my point
Scott Daniel lol
Juan yep
Got some fantastic ideas, but spendy anything over 10k$ is out of my range?! But I will "steal" ideas for my diy versions!!? Great vids!!
the prices are off the reality chart!
So pencil you in for one of each ...got it. Since the boss is gone today, I'll even throw in free cup holders for only six small payments of $39.99 each.
@@mindseyedesign Such a deal. Just drink one mug of coffee at a time but thank you. :-)
@@agentofficerthomasa.porter107 Just one? A pot a day keeps you young. At least that's what we tell ourselves here.👍☕☕☕
Nice thing about the Capri, you can custom design it.
Yes, the early Native Americans survived, until the "pioneers" arrived and killed 10,000,000 of them. Just sayin'.
Even if a person could afford any of these, I find it much more fun to stay a few nights in my truck tent, or for longer camping trips I sue my Kodiak Canvas Flexbow. All together I have spent less than $1,000, for a great time and plenty of comfort.
These are just very expensive toys.
spot on
Agree 100%. Campers like these are for those who want a degree of luxury in the wild.
I intend to retire in 2-3 years and live in either a truck camper or a small trailer, so no, for some people these are not expensive toys but home!
Got my money ready ... HERE WE GO!!!
45k? Empty shell? FT.
Get a Northern Lite fiberglass shell.. already finished inside for same $$
They are high-end campers.
The only camper on this list with any $$value was Arctic Fox.
#6 most bang for the buck but yes the starts at price. Can build a tiny house for way less!! Or a house for that matter AND buy the land. RV would be better choice!
Shoot for those prices I could hirer a fiberglass molder and finish carpenter and an electrician for way less.
Go ahead...try and undercut them, lets see how well you do....
Kevin Holland I’ll help you build yours if you’ll help me build mine, i can do fiberglass and wiring, you do welding ! We can do it for 1/4 or less the price of any listed !!
Arctic fox is my fave!
I like # 2 the best!!
I love the Bingo Tiger 4×4
#6 ......... THAT would be My pick !!!!!!!!!! That is, assuming theyd feel sorry for me & cut that price by 50% .... I noticed he said" pricing starts at around 10k ......... So what this means is, A BASE model would be 10k, the one in the video would probably be more like 17k
I could find a cool used airstream for that kind of cash and still have the freedom to use the truck by itself.
nice campers
