Hi, Ron. Thank you for your comment. My German is a little rusty, so I am not sure I understand it entirely. Would you be able to rewrite it in English?
I used to be interested in these tents until I realized that if you have a SUV you don't need a tent at all, you can fold down the seats and put a mattress inside. If you want to camp just get a regular tent, or, if you don't want to sleep on the ground, a tent cot - much cheaper and longer lasting.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Folded seats and a mattress is indeed a viable solution if you are traveling alone or as a couple, but what if you need to sleep 4? The roof top tent would be a great solution, don't you agree? Though I can't argue with the tent cot, you beat me there.
catalin pastiu I felt exactly the same way until I purchased a iKamper Mini and would never go back. Having the extra room and ability to camp in less ‘camp friendly’ environments has opened up a number of new avenues. Yes, camping in the SUV is cheaper, but you are restricted on carrying food, water, solar and ability to explore.
Very silly money! For the amount of times most people would use them per year you may as well go glamping. Or just get a hammock and a bivvy would be much cheaper👌
Nicholas Ray I have a couple of friends who purchased RTTs in 2018. They both leave the tent always always fitted and avg 20+ overnight trips last year vs five in 2017 - excluding school holidays. You are correct that it didn’t increase their longer trips, but they found having the tent (always on) allowed them to have a quick overnight, which is what I do as well. I have the iKamper Mini and yes, expensive but like my friends, leave it always on.
Overlanding has become affordable. Just equip your car with a roof top tent and enjoy camping! Tell us what you think about this way of exploring the nature i the comments below.
Hi there. All of these are easy to be installed and usually come with video manuals available on RUclips. If you have chosen a particular model that fits your needs and price, you can contact the manufacturer and ask for more detailed info
They're ALL made in China! The companies that sell them do so at an incredible markup price. I purchased one off Alibaba for less than $1000. It is an Tepui without the Tepui brand name.
What an interesting video, only thing is that they forgot the best roof tent out there, that's right the Smittybilt tent. Lowest cost and highest performance of any tent bar none.
Ridiculously Unaffordable when compared to a regular tent. The rack to install these costs extra as well. We tend to camp around 50 nights a year and still can’t commit to such a crazy price.
Affordably, priced well, good priced. These adjectives are a masking point for saying cheap quality. Good tools aren't cheap, cheap tools aren't good. This is true for all things in life. Camping is a luxury .
Yep. It is a rather clever solution to avoid flooding during heavy rains, plus installation is ridiculously easy and could be done without searching for an appropriate camping spot. What model matches your needs and pricing expectations the most?
Nice to know options... but the word affordable certainly doesnt really fit here... I am camping lover, and here in Venezuela off-roading and setting camp has a huge following ... but paying 2 thousand or more for a tent is really a high price, however most enthusiast go for it because the convenience that it gives to the camping experience. They are great, but really not affordable to the average person...
Hi. Thanks for your feedback. Appreciate it. Many of these tents include additional features, like lights, USB ports, etc. The cost of the material is indeed minimal, but the tech and the construction itself cost money
at 9:35 am on the Peugeot Rifter 4x4 is mounted an Overland (www.autohome-official.com/en/) which comes directly from Air Camping (www.air-camping.it/). My Air camping is now over 30 years old, but as good as new. Very solid material designed for hard travel.
Insane prices !!!!! A roof top tent can`t cost more than $500 Dlls . But we as consumers need to stop buying things at Stratospheric prices even when we have the money to do it. I have a Smmitybilt Roof Top tent and cost me $800 Dlls and I m still crying for buying it :(. It`s nothing of other world , it`s just a tent with rails that you can install on your car`s roof !that`s all!
How do the car roofs stand up to the weight? Every roof rack I have seen from Thule etc is rated at 75 odd kilos. These tents weigh that much before anyone even climbs inside. Don't they damage the roof of the car? Could be even more expensive camping trip then!
The 75kg is for when the car is moving. The biggest pull on the roof rack is because of the winds on high speed. When youre standing still you can easily load a lot more weight on the car.
Fuck that! I'll just put my campright tent cot on top of my truck! Boom less than 300 bucks. And!! I built a tear drop trailer in my driveway and it cost me 1200$ with a kitchenette
Frea The Dogo Had a couple of cheaper models. Finally decided to buy quality i.e. iKamper Mini and would never go back. You pay for what you get and rain, light hail or wind, the Mini stands up.
None of these tents have a mattress thicker than 3 inches, you may as well me 18 and sleeping direct on the ground. Get your act together and make a better camper with a thicker bedding.
safety , look like it will fly off the roof of car and hit car behind , problems who need more ? they need to create aerodinamic product , have some heart
Good day. Sorry you feel that way. I produce and narrate all of the videos on my own, so the voiceover will remain the same. I will try to improve, though, constantly work on this skill.
I had no idea these even existed. Maybe the coolest thing ever! The ingenuity of people never ceases to amaze me.
Hi, Dave. Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing your feedback!

roof top tent is very practical
Hey thanks for this amazing video! I prefer the most the Ikamper sky camp and I also liked the Peugeot one.
Hi there! Thanks for sharing your tastes. The iKamper is a great setup, I also like the Roofnest for their availability on Amazon
Nice, but how well do they handle wind? Would love to see how these pop-up tents do with a 30 MPH wind.
Hi, Frank. That is a valid concern. I believe they should hold just ok. The Skycamp, for example, has been tested against 40mph winds
Afford? Wtf yeah let me just pull out 2-3k I got laying around
Good job on the comparisons and variations.
Hey, Philip! Glad to be of service! Thanks for your support! Which tent is the best option in your opinion?
it’s super nice... i saw it’s on the roads, i thinking to get one, but i don’t know how it’s work, i install myself or else...???
Hi there. All of these are easy to be installed and usually come with video manuals available on RUclips. If you have chosen a particular model that fits your needs and price, you can contact the manufacturer and ask for more detailed info
I've seen so many rooftop tents made in China and are under 1kUSD. Some of these tents are just so ridiculously expensive.
They're ALL made in China! The companies that sell them do so at an incredible markup price. I purchased one off Alibaba for less than $1000. It is an Tepui without the Tepui brand name.
Hi, Rico. Have you camped with it already?
What an interesting video, only thing is that they forgot the best roof tent out there, that's right the Smittybilt tent. Lowest cost and highest performance of any tent bar none.
Hi, Donald. Thanks for your suggestion. I will check it out.
Yep. Bought my Smittybilt XL Overland Tent for $800.
Super ❤👍
Hi. What tent did you like?
Thanks for.the vedio, the #1 looks so much better, with a good price, and the audi one is so creative!
Glad you liked it! Thanks for your feedback
Ridiculously Unaffordable when compared to a regular tent. The rack to install these costs extra as well. We tend to camp around 50 nights a year and still can’t commit to such a crazy price.
Good point there
Way todo expensive! Besides I wonder if car roofs are designed to stand such a weigt
Hi, Jorge. They are. As to the pricing, I can't argue about that as people have different understandings of what is expensive and what is not.
It degrades mileage 10% or more on highway and possibly makes noise. Can have a glamping set up for far less.
Affordably, priced well, good priced. These adjectives are a masking point for saying cheap quality. Good tools aren't cheap, cheap tools aren't good. This is true for all things in life. Camping is a luxury .
I do agree with you. If you want a quality, you have to pay. But I still try to research the most affordable models, because my viewers request it
I like the roof tent idea.
Yep. It is a rather clever solution to avoid flooding during heavy rains, plus installation is ridiculously easy and could be done without searching for an appropriate camping spot. What model matches your needs and pricing expectations the most?
This is a great know how, 👌😁
Thanks for watching the video!

some people make their own-check on youtube
Can they withstand gusts of wind? and at what speed
Hi, most of them are wind resistant, but only Heimplanet and Tent Box provide actual numbers. It is 44mph and 39mph

Awesome 👍 thanks for sharing!
Mine has also seen its fair share of use but still spotless :) these tents are built to last :)
Winter time?
What is the best roof top tents for a dodge charger?
Hi. If you are not joking, technically, any would do. Just make sure that the dimensions match
Umm none. They're intended to be used in nature. Your charger needs to stay off the trails for the safety of others.
All have painful ladders if bare foot no thought of shelf items tread plates not wide enough
Hi, Peter. Thanks for your opinion. What camping solution do you prefer?
In Colombia Where are these Roof Top? Or where I can contact?
Hi, not sure if any of them are sold in Colombia. Sorry. You can Google the manufacturer of the tent that you are interested in, and contact them.

Hi. Thanks for your comment. You are right, things cost as much as people are ready to pay for them. Other than the price, do you enjoy your roof top?
Wow I need to do that😊🏕️
I still prefer the BunduTec. Durable and easy.
Thanks for sharing your preferences. I will check this brand out
How do the car roofs stand up to the weight? Every roof rack I have seen from Thule etc is rated at 75 odd kilos. These tents weigh that much before anyone even climbs inside. Don't they damage the roof of the car? Could be even more expensive camping trip then!
My guess would be these are factory installed roof racks
The 75kg is for when the car is moving. The biggest pull on the roof rack is because of the winds on high speed. When youre standing still you can easily load a lot more weight on the car.

At the price of a car you can by the rooftent... HAAAAHHAHAHAHAAA
Hi there. My knowledge indicates that the cheapest car costs from $12,000. These tents seem to be less expensive.
@@MustSeeTech the cheepest car in the world is tata nano wich only cost 1590$
Well, I was talking about buying a car in the US.
i suggest just buying a smittybuilt overland rtt, less than $800 and has all you need

Thanks for watching!
its not that I cannot afford those, im just not willing to spend 1000eu + , wish there were 300-500eu models out there
Hi, Emilio. I am open to suggestions.
Frea The Dogo Had a couple of cheaper models. Finally decided to buy quality i.e. iKamper Mini and would never go back. You pay for what you get and rain, light hail or wind, the Mini stands up.
How is this affordable?
Any. Want. The. Tent. IS there for the previous one of the. Out. Dors

Have to make sure the sunroof is open!😂
Go fast campers .
Are you a satisfied owner of one of their products?
None of these tents have a mattress thicker than 3 inches, you may as well me 18 and sleeping direct on the ground. Get your act together and make a better camper with a thicker bedding.
i thought they said affordable... keyword ... affordable...
How can i be a distribution in Laos?
You should contact the manufacturer to find out.
Thank you for your advice.
Cool
Thanks for your support. Which model did you like?
Alternative. 3,4x2,0 meter Liegefläche, 49kg - gentletent.com/shop/gt-sky-loft/
But I think too colder than in side the car
#diyrooftoptent
Great idea but TOO MUCH MONEY
Hi, thanks stopping by and posting your opinion
Affordable my ass! Enjoy your cars exhaust! And high winds
safety , look like it will fly off the roof of car and hit car behind , problems who need more ?
they need to create aerodinamic product , have some heart
1500$ for fabric & aluminium worth 100$ or less.
Hi, are any of these worthy of the money?
@@MustSeeTech Yes. Overly priced though. Design has a price, but thats too high.
Hello
Hi there. Thanks for stopping by! Did you enjoy the video?
When I use have to go does my insurance cover me falling off the roof of my truck lol
Hi, I am not sure I understand the first part of your comment, but you should definitely consult your insurance company on that=)
#rooftoptentliving
Upvoting your comment. What roof top model do you have installed on your vehicle?
ruclips.net/video/t11WyliIWiM/видео.html why he didnt just connect it to the car exhaust?
affordable? With that money you can have all of your camping gear and the money for a whole trip instead, not just aroof tent, even a whole used car
👍👍👍👍👍
They all seem kinda the same to me
Hi, Ash. What do you think about the overall concept? Would you consider roof-top camping?
Affordable? Yeah these seem super affordable lol
the vid is ok,but the voice!!! the s-sounds are cruel, like a snake, makes me feel uncomfortable..brrrr...
Hi Peter. Glad u liked the video. I'm trying to improve my narration skills.
How am i supposed to get my dog on my fucking roof
Is that your accent or a computer voice?? Hate it
That is your right. Bye-bye. Fyi, it is my voice.
Oh man, the last one is total garbage 🤣
The Rifter concept? Why?
Can't you find another narrator? I can't watch your videos narrated by this dude anymore, I'm sorry.
Good day. Sorry you feel that way. I produce and narrate all of the videos on my own, so the voiceover will remain the same. I will try to improve, though, constantly work on this skill.
Thanks, Mariah. It is Eastern European.
@@MustSeeTech it is very very annoying! You sound like a gay male, the lady type!
