    For the love of god, will you guys learn how to really air down, watching these videos drive me crazy, lol
    I use to teach off roading, and how important airing down is. Its all about control, if you have to floor it, smoke the tires to climb something.....you do not have control any more. Taking a tire from street pressure to 15 psi can increase traction up to 400%, helping prevent wheel spin. And keep in mind, traction is way more important then ground clearance.
    A Truck tire with a "P" rating I would air down around 25 psi, and never go below 20 psi. Once you upgrade to an off road tire (like you have here) with an 8 or 10 ply rating, full size trucks drop down around 15 psi, a jeep around 8-12 psi, any lower you could through a bead, but it takes a lot more force then you would think to do so. And if you can't fully air up to get home, those same tire you can run on the road till you get home to fill up fully, at 20 psi, with no issues as long as you are smart about it. Try redoing this climb slower and at 15 psi and see the results, just some constructive criticism :)

  • @jasonescott
    @jasonescott 5 лет назад +11

    Since you’re comparing it to the Raptor, why aren’t you running your Rebel Rouser in the terrain for which the Raptor was designed: Baja? Raptors aren’t trail trucks. They’re built to go fast through high-speed baja-type conditions. How well does the Rouser stack up against the Raptor in the Raptor’s home turf?

    • @CmonsterFreak
      @CmonsterFreak 5 лет назад

      The raptor can do it all. If it was truly designed specifically for baja wouldn’t they have ditched the ancient leaf spring suspension in the back?

    • @jasonescott
      @jasonescott 5 лет назад +2

      @@CmonsterFreak - Oh, I agree the Raptor is an awesome, multi-talented truck. But when Ford introduced the Raptor, they stated that the design goal was to make the best production baja truck possible. The leaf springs are just a result of it still being an F-150 and it simply wasn't cost-effective to produce a Raptor-specific coil-sprung rear suspension (which would require a different frame, control arms, rear axle assembly, and more) for a limited-production model. Besides, Ford loves leaf-spring suspensions ... I mean, it took them how long -- 50+ years? -- to give the Mustang an independent (non-leaf-spring) rear? The point of my comment was more that anyone can add a bunch of aftermarket suspension stuff and better tires to a Rebel (or any other truck) and best the Raptor in a rock crawl. That isn't the Raptor's forte. It'd be sorta like claiming that you're a better athlete than Tom Brady because you beat his bowling score. That's not the sport he spent his lifetime mastering. So, if TFL wants to show that they've made a true Raptor-beater, they should compare them head-to-head in the kind of terrain that the Raptor was designed to excel in ... and still not ruin the Rebel for everyday use, not risk its warranty, its ride and handling, etc. Don't get me wrong: the Rebel's a cool truck, too, and TFL upgrades have given their Rebel Rouser a more attractive appearance and improved capabilities, but my contention would be that it's still not as good as the Raptor in baja terrain, and I suspect it's not as good as a Raptor, overall, either.

      @dzelpwr 5 лет назад +1

      Yeah, that's not unexpected. There are a lot of issues from a lot of different cars that will crop up as they age, pages like this generally are only reviewing what it's like to drive a new car. They don't have them long enough to see what problems they will have 5 or 10 years down the line. Though I will say that TFL does have a handful of older, high mileage cars in their fleet that they have reported problems on, but it's only a small list of individual vehicles and not every vehicle is going to experience what technicians report as being common issues, some vehicles experience more than their share of issues for a variety of reasons.
      It's a difficult thing to report on and getting numbers together for an accurate failure rate report of such issues is difficult at best, especially as cars get up there in years and miles. Manufacturers are only accountable for such engine problem for the duration of their powertrain warranty. And even then they will do whatever they can to find technicalities to deny fixing it for free under warranty.

Sometimes I think people get to hung up on checking off capability options when you should just find what you like and can afford and just get out there with it. I use my Truck as a daily driver as well so not kitting it as a uber 4x4 makes it easier to live with.

      I disagree about outdated motor. GM still has that tired 5.3 that is almost 20 years old. Pretty cosmetics? When's the last time you bought a vehicle based solely on price and performance? There is ALWAYS some sort of cosmetic look that draws a person to a vehicle. Look at people that bought that God awful Pontiac Aztec, dam sure wasn't due to performance, warranty, or value.

    Rouser Rebel may make it up once or twice but the Raptor is in another category. Stronger built, wider, better suspension the whole nine yards. The Rebel did a good job no doubt but what is the sustainability of this vehicle of doing it over and over.. Dodge, excuse me I mean Fiat does have a bad record in that category.

    • @DieselAddict-vs9fc

      Fiat has zero to do with this. It's the same truck that they sold before fiat bought ram. All fiat has done is change lights fenders and interior and better transmission options. All fiat is ,is a different downer that changed small things. And as you can sense fiat has made the changes the rams sells have went up ALOT. Like I said still 90% of ram parts and design nothing mechanical made by fiat.

    I would like to see vehicles tested with a full payload or half payload . More than likely half payload is more reasonable for off -road . I believe the Rebel's payload is 1850 lbs ; not counting trailer tongue weight which according to Dodge for a ball hitch is 10% and 5th wheel is 15% of max towing weight . Im not sure if tongue weight can be figured into max payload if not towing .
