Great seeing Kent back with Andrey. Nothing against the others, but for the Ikes I find this to be the best duo.
I agree
100%
Yep!😊
Hands down. A lot of chemistry without the ego
Absolutely
Mr. Truck, Andre and the IKE, this is the best of TFL. So happy to see Mr Truck back
Yes sir!!
Yesss I agree so happy to see Andre and Mr truck together
Their banter makes the video
Thanks
I am loving the weekly (Saturday) Ike Gauntlet videos. It may be a challenge to come up with 52 different videos per year, but I for one appreciate this commitment. Having Mr. Truck tell Andre that he is the "new" Mr. Truck is a huge compliment to Andre's ever growing truck knowledge. Lastly, for these Ike Gauntlet videos, it would have been nice at the end of the uphill climb to see the following gauge readings:
1. Coolant temperature
2. Transmission temperature
3. Oil temperature
All 3 of these readings are critical when towing, and a quick view of the gauges or mention of these readings would be beneficial! Just my 2 cents. Great video!
I agree!
Totally agree!
Maybe I want 4 cents though and I agree I don't tow cause im not smart enough id break everything but it would interest me to see how things get stressed and such
They cool very quickly at the top as it levels out and the load drops; the more useful temps are at the end of the steepest part of the run, when it had been running hard to maintain speed and thus build heat it the process.
100% agree...
Great video. I just purchased a Ram 1500 with the 5.7 two weeks ago. Haven’t pulled our travel trailer with it yet, but glad to see it did well on the Ike Gauntlet.
I have a 2014, it has the less desirable 3.21 rear end but I tow my toy hauler 31 feet/8k pounds with my golf cart in it. It does pretty good, I wouldn't go cross country but its capable of a lot. However while driving normally highway driving I get about 20mpg.
I was so happy to see Mr Truck and Andre back together again.
Thanks
It's great to see Andre and mr. Truck back in the saddle together again, classic TFL Ike gauntlet video guys!
Thanks
Love Andre and Mr. Truck! My favorite combo! But after watching for so many years I understand if they just can’t be paired every time this year. But thanks for making it happen this time!!
Thanks
Mr. Truck and Andre , you know what would be interesting to see doing this IKE with trucks over 100K in miles and see how they hold up at max weight ! Great video by the way !! Keep it up !!
Thanks
The exhaust on that hemi sounds magical
Even stock they sound nice
There’s only one and only one “Mr Truck”!
That’s right!
My opinion with regard to passing is if you are maxed out in capacity you have no business speeding beyond the posted limit to pass anyone. You’re already a safety risk at max load
The maximum load is the maximum safe weight. Exceeding that would be unsafe. No?
@@lesterpittenger5992it’s common sense to not speed with a load regardless of weight
@@Menentios69cry
Facts.
As a Truck guy, I’m pretty impressed by this ol Hemi 10k with a 1500 off road ish truck up one of the hardest hill climbs is pretty impressive.
Really he had it maxed out pedal to the floor. He said the little ecoboosts were half throttle doing the same run. That's horrible being maxed out and dangerous. Dodge is trash
The 5.7s actually do perty good.
@@codylucier4688 I had a EcoBoost so many issues its unreal! Switched to a hemi no problems with 60k more miles then I put on that EcoBoost. Both tow about the same with about the same fuel mileage.
@@codylucier4688 Even the little 2.7 Ecoboost was at only 3,000 rpm not even half throttle with max trailer and they said it was actually accelerating. A Hemi being floored and running 4,000-5,000 rpm is piss poor.
Y’all so called experts on here keep failing to mention the eco boost is twin turbo versus naturally aspirated V8. Put a turbo on those V8’s and it will crush the eco boost garbage.
So good to see Mr Truck again.
There’s one big problem with your “toughest test”: you need to do them in the summer, in hot weather. Since I was a kid cooling a hard-working engine is the achilles heel of trucks towing/hauling up grades. You guys never tested the new Tundra (if memory serves) in hot weather up the Ike which would show how all the cooling engineering works. You’ve also seen other pickups overheat, despite being brand new and not maxxed out on the Ike in warmer weather. Consider Your Ways! Love Andre. He’s what makes the channel worth watching.
Kind of tough to do one a week and want them to all be in hot weather.
@@ericneal1872 - Exactly. Kinda hard to get them all during the same weather, week, etc. people will always find a way to tear others down. That and I don’t exactly like the Tundra,,,, not unlike the O C.
They get the trucks from the manufacture at this time of year. If people want to let them use their truck for a test they could do more in the summer.
I think "cost or overall value" should be included in your "star" rating.
Any truck around or under $50K that does well should get bonus points
Hard to say about price. Does a Tradesman get bonus points vs a Laramie? Easy to spec a bare bones truck under $50k. Should get bonus points for a high content truck that has over 1500lb payload
@@andrewsbbq - so true. Powertrain vs powertrain. The rest is all fluff. 😂 buy what you can afford and want, don’t worry what the others cost I’d they don’t compare really close on content.
Thank you both great to see Mr. TRUCK joining. Good rating system and love the series.
Thanks
People load skid loaders backward for a reason. It's cause the windshields are expensive!
So happy to see the slimline Mr Truck back in the saddle!
Thanks
TFLTruck is the only channel on RUclips that does a towing test like this. I really appreciate your content as it has helped influence my vehicle purchases for the past several years. Very thankful!
FYI - Don’t think you have done an Ike with the new Grand Cherokee 😅
We miss you Mr. Truck. Welcome Back!
it was nice seeing you guys together doing this. You guys should do this more often together .
Thanks
Good to see, your doing what brought me to you channel, again.
OH SNAP! It's Mr Truck!! I was just thinking about him the other day. Good to see you, Kent.
Yippee Mr Truck and Andrey on the Ike Gauntlet!!! And we get one every Saturday, life is great!!! Thank You 🙏 Great Videos!!! This is really what attracted me to this channel!!!
I love these videos ! Everytime don’t even tow anything myself it’s just interesting. Super Ike!
I'd like to see an Ike test series of older 3/4 and 1 ton trucks, like 2000-2007ish 2500hd F-250 etc. especially the 8.1 and v10 options
They didnt tow up they ike but they did towing comparisons with and old excursion v10 and suburban 8.1 some months back
Yea I’d love to see a ford v10 or an 8.1 max towing!
They don’t use older trucks after one lost its breaks and could have ended badly
Thank you for putting Mr. Truck back on with you. I really missed seeing him. Do a 2023 GMC Denali Ultimate with the 3 liter diesel, PLEASE!
Mr.Truck and Andre like peanut butter and jelly 😂 love you guys talking trucks..If I can vote for the next truck for testing it would be a 22-23 f150 Coyote please
Thanks
thanks
I thought Mr truck was looking smaller recently! Congrats and nice job!!
Lost 60 lbs. Thanks, Kent
Good video. She aint the fastest. But got up the hill and is a “simple” powertrain.
Glad to see Mr Truck back on the channel
Can't wait to see how the 6.8L gas F-250 does.
Always love seeing more of Mr. Truck!!
Kent and David are two of the best. More of them!!
Thanks
Always good to see Mr Truck on tfl.
Andre and Mr. Truck, my favourite duo!
The dream team! Looking good Mr.T.
Another great test guys! Did you check the engine temps on the way up?
Glad to see more ike gauntlets. The reason I started watching the channel back in 2016. Keep them comming. Also to me mr.truck is looking healthy and more energetic good for him. My half ton has a pretty crap payload its around 1300 pounds it is a luxury based off road model but it has a good rear axle rating at almost 4200lbs most half tons are 3800lbs so I feel confident overloading a bit and mid sizes may match the payload but their axle rating doesnt come close.
Awesome!!! Welcome back Mr. Truck!!!
Great way to start a Saturday with an Ike! So happy to see Mr Truck
Thanks
I love seeing Mr. Truck. He’s what’s great about trucking. ✌🏿
Thanks
Recently bought a 2020 Ram Built to Serve, very impressed with the 5.7 overall. I came from a f150 with a 2.7.
Maxed out and on the Ike, it did well for an off road truck.
I would never let my truck run at such high rpms like you guys did. Thanks for this video!
naturally aspirated V8's like that can run at 5k+ rpms just fine after all the redline is almost 6k
Idling is worse then high rpms
Yeah I know right constant high rpm like that is very hard on an engine.
@@WillysOverlandno it’s not. That’s just ridiculous you believe that.😂
engines are not designed to idle. Laugh like a kid or do some actual research.@@Thumper68
Such great trucks. Love my Rams. Never had an issue with one.
Mr Truck and Andre, my fav duo on this channel.
Great to see Mr. Truck. Hope to see him every Saturday
Great to see Ken!!
Glad to see Mr.Truck again
Mr. Truck @15:00 "This is pretty shitty.."😂
Yeah! Mr. Truck is back. Best truck duo on the internet.
Lookin’ svelt, Mr Truck! 💪🏼👏🏻
Well done, boys.
YES, my favorite duo is back together for the IKe. If it ain't broke DONT FIX IT
Thanks
You're looking great, Mr. Truck! Even though I watch both channels, it's great seeing you on TFL for Ike.
Thanks
Hey Mr Truck! You’re back, good Andre was missing you.
MORE MR TRUCK & ANDRE! Please
Ahh.. back to the good ole days with Mr. Truck!
Finally Mr. Truck! Like the glory days
Always good to see Andre and Mr. Truck.
THanks
👏👏👏 LOVE THE SHOW .....HAVE A BEAUTIFUL SATURDAY EVERYONE ✌️
Excellent video! I just wish you guys used the gear display to show the gear the truck is using.
Missed this duo and their commentary!
Yes! Mr truck is back!
Mr truck is back! By popular demand! I've driven that 100x in my 2003 land rover discovery. Even unladen it could barely keep 50-55 mph. Definitely the world's toughest towing test
Thanks
I am glad to see Kent aka Mr. Truck back. I was wondering what happen to him. Your looking good Kent! Great video guys!! I hope Kent is in more videos with you Andre!
He still does videos on his Mr Truck channel.
Thumbs up for Mr. Truck!! The Ike runs are just better with Mr. Truck and Andre together, Frank should probably go along also. I just use the cruise and it does all the shifting and braking keeps it at speed pretty good. But enjoy seeing your runs. Stay safe and health Gents.
Thanks
This video is surprisingly relevant to me, since I am looking to buy a CAT similar to that one, I have a RAM 1500, and my payload is very similar to that one.
What a beautiful truck!
That was a great run up the Gauntlet! It was a very rare case where the power required by the load was exactly matched by the power available from the engine at WOT. Andrei must have felt great after holding the throttle WFO for 8 minutes. It's every man's fantasy.
Drive a semi that's always loaded at 140k, you get bored after 20 miles. Let alone years of driving. It's not a dream to work something to death. Now WOT on a 13-15L diesel vs any gas engine is entire world of difference. My 2020 6.7L powerstroke makes more than 1000lbft from 1400-2400rpm(more useful over the usable range). In the 2 years I've hD this truck(and the 2 years with the prior 2019 6.7) I never had to floor it or even ask for WOT, or 100% engine load on a diesel(no throttle plate)
I've driven a fully loaded V8 truck and trailer up the I-80 pass just east of Salt Lake City and it's actually a bad feeling being floored and running 5,000+rpm up the mountain and over the pass. It would be nice to have some extra available. This poor Hemi was working way to hard.
@@jnk26 I hope you have floored it for fun’s sake at least!
@Jerome The Mechanic in all honesty keeping g the engine in the 1400-2400rpm Band nets faster acceleration the torque is what doing the work. This truck runs from 60mph to the speed limiter in a little over 7 seconds. It's idiotic how's fast the 9000lbs f250 gets up to speed. Makes the 5000lb 400hp/500lbft F150 feel slow. Can't wait to trade up for a 1200lbft F350 is late 2024. If you go back an watch all of the IKEs you will see a pattern. Every truck falls back in the rpm range to its peak torque, then downshifts(increasing the leverage through gearing) then lugs back again to the peak torque. Now the reason the EB and turbocharged engines walk up the IKE is because they have far higher peak torque at a lower rpm(500lbft@3000 vs 460lbft@4100 and 410@4100) this is also why theb3.0 diesels get better MPG, the peak torque is available(more work with less rpm) and pull effortlessly. We all have this affliction with rpm. 475hp@2600rpm is 959lbft but 485hp@6100 is 418lbft(392Hemi). We all assume that 485hp is better than 475hp. But make both engines do the same amount t of work(move the same mass) and you will clearly see which is more capable. Like a 240hp 7.3 powerstroke vs the 240hp 2l S2000 engine. Put that's S2000 engine in the truck chassis and prepare to be disappointed. 240hp@8900 is 141lbft. That 7.3 has more torque at idle tha. The S2000 engine has a t WOT
@@jnk26 I am sure you have a good understanding of power and torque from handling a semi! The new diesels are really amazing. I saw a 2023 in the grey today and it looked sharp. I drive a 2000 7.3 and you are correct, once it gets in its power band it has some get up and go.
Great to see Mr. Truck back.
Dump the star rating system and go back to points. It is easier to slice for issues like reserve power. Or mirrors. Etc
The ford's are awesome on the Ike love that turbo power glad Kent's back great personality and great guy
Andre and Mr. Truck on the Ike is the best 👌
Thanks
Good to see Mr. Truck back for the Ike runs.
I have a couple suggestions for the weekly runs.
1) tow the same weight with the same truck but with multiple trailer types. So for example if you tow 10,000 pounds on an open trailer, tow an enclosed trailer at 10,000 pounds and compare the differences. This will be good information for people to see what a difference the type of trailer makes in towing performances.
2) allow viewers to come and take a shot at the Ike like you all have done with Tumble Weed. I’d love to do it but I’m in East Kentucky and thousands of miles away.
Thanks
Got to love the tried and true HEMI
Till a lifter goes their great!
He said Hemi, not GM EcoTec.
Sounds really good.
PLEASE feature more videos with Mr Truck, his experience is invaluable.
Thanks
This is what I love to see!
We miss u Mr truck we you are a busy men but welcome back sir!!
When the hemi goes away there will be some sad ram owners!
1st! Good to see Mr. Truck again!
I miss the old man too!
Andre and Mr Truck. As it should be. Great video
Thanks
I really like the 3500 diesel trucks maxed out on the Ike
Mr. Truck really does make vidoes better!!
I like this new bad ass version of Mr truck. Thinner and not messing around. 😂 that Hemi was signing the whole way up.
Thanks
Mr truck and Andre the best duo. Please TFL truck Ike gauntlet and Mr truck go hand and hand
I do enjoy when Mr Truck is in these Ike's. He should become a permanent part of TFL
Dynamic Dual team up again. Good stuff. Mr. Truck looking healthier. Good stuff. As for 1 Ike a week, even if you run out of NEW trucks, you can offset with re-running with older used trucks to see how they are still handling the wear and tear.
Thanks
It'd be great to see the comparison between maxed out F-150 3.3 V6, 3.15 axel ratio vs 3.73 ratio. Also the mpg up the ike and on the highway. Thanks✌👍
An Ike a week with Mr. Truck… Win win!
Thanks
Would be really cool to see Ike gauntlet performed with some of the old school gm and ford sedans from 80s, 90s, and early 00s that were body on frame and had tow rating from 5000-7000lbs. Ford had the 5.0 and 4.6 v8s and gm had their 350 v8s, and HUGE trunks. Anyway, would be interesting to see how those stack up and maybe compared to their half ton truck brethren of the day too. If you’re going to do an Ike every week, this would be a fun way to fill the schedule.
If you're planning on doing an Ike a week, I would suggest 2 other kinds of tests:
Take your budget challenge trucks and run them on the Ike with some creative challenges thrown in since they will be older vehicles with "personality".
The other kind of test I would suggest is to find older heavy-duty trucks that are still in service to really see how far we've come in terms of technology for what a truck is supposed to do, and to directly compare them to the brand new trucks you often take on the mountain. For example, I've got a ram with the V10 and I love the low cost of maintenance on top of the ability to tow just about anything that a diesel model can on top of being able to pour whatever dirt gasoline I can find for it. The old Chevy 454 trucks are the same way. Or even a "newer" truck that's only 10 years old after having driven several hundred thousand miles.
Things work great when they're new, but I'm not looking to buy a new truck every 2 years. I think some TFL classic and budget towing videos would fill a slot that's been empty for a while and an Ike a week is a great opportunity to do that.
I really like this video.. Andre, Mr. Truck, and the Ike 👍🏼 Can you test a Ram 2500 Cummins on the Ike? I would really like to see Alex’s Ram 2500 on 37” tires or the Trailhound do this. I would like to put 37” tires on a Ram 2500 so I’m curious how it would perform towing. Thanks
So glad to see dealer lots piling up and trucks beginning to be marked down, there is a difference between inflation and gouging
When inventory is low and demand is high, there is not reason to give discounts
@@malcolmn.5222especially when some blue oval companies intentionally limit dealer stock
Welcome back Mr. truck
Mr. Truck did Andre tell you that's the 2nd trailer they got? The first one Him and Roman bought was the wrong one. Someone in the comment even said. "Next time they go to buy a trailer take M. Truck with you lol But it did work out in the end as you can see.
You cannot have Ike Gauntlet without Mr. Truck. Andre and Mr. Truck has a perfect chemistry and I am sure they are very good friends too.
Pretty impressive for that much weight 👍💪🏻
Good video guys . Good to see mr Truck again.
I should add that I really enjoyed having Kase on the truck channel the past few weeks.
I was in hopes Kase would be more of a permanent part of the truck channel.
I hope we haven’t seen the last of Kase on the truck channel.
I thought Kase and Andre really made good duo videos as well.
Thanks
Been wondering what happened to Mr Truck. Glad he's still alive and kicking 🙏.
Now that you worked it a little check the back window for crackes and water leaks
