Just did a 3 inch Rough Country on my 2013 Nissan Titan 4x2. Had some vibration in 1st gear around 1800 rpm. The kit came with 1.75 inch rear tapered blocks. RUclips and a friend told me to switch to flat blocks so I replaced with 1.5 inch blocks. Problem solved. After all that is when I found out that my 4x2 supposedly needed a carrier drop. Seems fine bow so as you said if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.
I did a 3/2 ready lift on my 2021 tundra do u think I should do the carrier bearing drop on my truck? I did the diff drop in the front already. I was just curious what u recommend or if anyone else has done this on there tundra? Thank you for your help.
I have a 07 double cab long bed 2wd that has a 1.5 lift (blocks in the rear and spacers up front). I bought the truck like this used and never had an issue until about a week ago. Sometimes on my daily highway drive I get a bad vibration that shakes the whole truck and the wheel but it doesn't happen when I'm driving back roads or stop and go only when I;m at speed. Does a 1.5" lift require shims or will it hurt if I put them in?
But it is possible that you are damaging your carrier bearing adding stress to the bearing but your not going to have issues for some time until that bearing prematurely wears so why not do the drop before that happens since you already know you’ve changed the angle by raising the truck lowering the bearing would only bring you closer to where you were before raising your truck
Good information Rob, I’ve lifted past trucks up to 3” and never did anything to the propeller shaft. Now had an 89 Bronco with 4x4 and a 5.8L that I had a 5” lift and that one I changed front diff angle and height put a 2 degree tilt to rear axle and everything was copacetic. Until the ignition switch decided to overheat and made a crispy critter out of the whole vehicle. Go figure!
RobMotive Yup! And because the vehicle was lifted and had oversized tires they refused to make good on the known failure. Didn’t buy any Ford products for a while.
I put a readylift 3/2 on my 2019 tundra and you can definitely feel the wheel hop on a quick take off it's not severe but you can definitely feel it. I am going to try the carrier bearing drop, hopefully its good after that.
Even corey feom rough country said not to do it. Unless you had lifted your truck and feel any vibration but very very rarely will this happen. I said ill be doing the 6" vertex lift and he said nope wont need it. Everything you need will be in lift. I even asked him about the driveshaft spacer he said nope wont need Unless you put lift in and have a sign..... .
I lift my 2014 Tacoma 6” but after 4 months starting shaking a lot now I’m frustrating trying to figure out what exactly is the problem. I see my carrier bearing is drop 1” spacers and bearings is in good condition, I do balance in my tires ratation alignment etc and same shaking. Help please
I’ve had that in other (non-lifted trucks). My understanding is the issue I’m addressing happens when you first take off. I’m guessing you’re heavy on acceleration before the rear crosses the tracks. Does it happen when you maintain speed over the tracks without accelerating until the rear is clear?
I'd drop that carrier the same amount you lift your truck. If you don't you will use more ujoints and your pinion bearing in the rear third member will also go out pretty quick
I thought this was already settled. If it ain't broke , don't fix it. LOL , and you just said what I wrote. But it looks like your gonna fix something not broke LOL.
I have 884 Emu springs in the Front and Add a Leaf in the Rear of my Tacoma. It kind of Vibrates and shutters at 35mph or so. Gonna replace my U-Joints soon. Might go with this drop kit eventually.
@@evanfox1291 it has 244k on it, so I'm replacing them from being wore out. It's actually had that little shimmer or vibration since it was newer before the lift. I believe there was a driveline recall on u joints for certain years.
@@mckinziefishingandhunting140 Gotcha. I need new tires in the next couple of months so I suspect that is part of my issue but not about to spend the $ on a balance on tires that are on their last leg. I need to lube the propeller shaft so inclined to throw a CB drop on while under there on a nice day.
Makes comment about vehicle lift but has no idea about type of vehicle lift required. Makes second comment about drop kit but doesn’t watch video of said bearing install. Sadly misinformed 🙃

Thank you, just did a 3 inch lift on a Kings setup to fit 35s and i was worried but now this made me feel better!
I have wheel hop 4 1/4 inch lift have 3 spacers. In the mid bearing wonder if I should take them out or what any help is good
So did you put the spacer in for the carrier bearing and did you feel a difference

Depends on the severity of the shaft angle change. A 3/2 is marginal.

Mine is dropped 👍

Those pesky ignition switches!! They ruin all the fun!!😳

It’ll be interesting to see if that takes care of it. Please let me know once you have it done👍
Just installed the spacer from Coachbuilder designed for 0 to 2 inch rear lift and eliminated my slight vibration and wheel shudder on take off.
That’s awesome! Good to know👍

Hard to say. Could be a number of things. Have you taken it back to the shop (assuming you didn’t do it yourself)?

Thanks for watching 👍
So far any vibrations on your 2020? I just picked up a 2020 and am going to do a 2 inch lift...
Nothing with the newest lift. Check out this video for what I have now: ruclips.net/video/o4jKD9Yms24/видео.html
@@RobMotive Since your 2020 has true a suspension lift, I wonder if it affects the carrier bearing differently than with a block from your 2018
Shouldn’t. It’s all about height. How you get there doesn’t matter👍
Why did you end up putting this part on your 2020? Any problems with this one?
No real reason. I had it so I figured why not🤔
I'd drop that carrier the same amount you lift your truck. If you don't you will use more ujoints and your pinion bearing in the rear third member will also go out pretty quick
There is always tolerance built in. It depends on the height of the lift👍

I disagree.
@@RobMotive that's why your not a certified mechanic by Toyota. Lol

This guy has a lift but has someone install kit then makes a video about buying spacer but doesnt install it 🤔
I think mine needs the egcs replacement needle bearing
Could be. I hear that alot🤔
Vibration when letting off the gas?

Ditto. I've got 886s w/ AAL and very noticiable vibes while cruising between ~30-40. Are you replacing U-joints due to wear from the vibes?

has lift, pays shop to work on truck...*head scratch*
Has lift, smart enough to have shop preform things for which he’s not qualified👍
The answer to that is! yes it does!
Depends on the height of the lift🤔
@@RobMotive no.
@@RobMotive well I guess if you just do a body lift and get bigger tires you won't need to
