I just did this today... It's one of the easiest and cheapest mods/fixes ever. And it worked for me, super smooth now! Thanks for all you do, Taco Bro!
Recently bought a 2012 trd Tacoma with a leveling kit, noticing the very minor vibrations while accelerating like you mentioned. It goes away right after It shifts into 2nd. I’m hoping this cheap part will do the trick. Thank you for the awesome videos!
On Tacoma World someone said to use a Ford Ranger polyurethane carrier bearing. It is very well made. $20 for 2 plates and some washers? As hard as it is to get the bearing off the shaft, it pays to get it right.
I put in a eibach lift and AAL yesterday. I did put in the cb drop. I have some minor vibes. I may try tightening everything up and look into the ECGS fix next
Oh cool I got my spacers off of toytec and they didn't come with different bolts. How much longer were the new bolts? Do you think the originals would be able to do the job with the spacers?
I found a different kit that has 6 shims 3 for each side. I used the emu kit and it cut my vibration in half. I have 2 inch blocks in the rear and a 2 inch lift for the front including the front differential drop kit. No leveling. I like it
Great video! So I just upgraded to Bilstein 5100’s in the front and used them to help level out my sons 2011 Tacoma. We went with the highest ringclip setting which raised the front about 2.5”. Afterwards I noticed a very slight vibration - similar to how you describe in your video. It’s not a constant vibration and I do not notice it at higher speeds than 20-30 mph. We made no adjustment to the rear. Truck sits about perfectly level now which is great, but the vibration bugs me. Could this be the fix considering only 2.5” front lift only? Thanks in advance!
@@davidteeson9783 In that case you probably need to do the ECGS clamshell bushing swap. I show the process in this vid: ruclips.net/video/cVMuu5qJqVM/видео.html

I've a question if it's ok ta ask, I noticed recently with all the snow when I switch from 4 hi back to 2 wheel drive there's a popping noise that it's never made before. I did recently have the needle bearing replaced at Toyota Stealership, I tried 4 wheel drive numerous times after they replaced the needle bearing and there wasn't a popping noise switching back to 2 wheel drive. Any thoughts? And it's 2013 Trd sport 59,000 miles
Hey buddy! I'd have to see it in person to be more help but it might just be the sound made by the truck when going from 4 to 2. My truck makes a small clank noise sometimes when doing that.
How do you know if it’s the carrier bearing or if you need the ecgs bushing? Does it hurt at all to do the carrier bearing even if that’s not the issue?
If your truck immediately stops vibrating when switching to 4hi then the ECGS bushing is need. You can test this on a straight road usually going 40ish mph.
@@Tacomaholic Thanks for the info. It only happens when I am slowly pulling away from my driveway & mostly when backing slowly as well. More obvious when turning to the left. I'll check it out. It seems as though it's a common problem on Tacoma's & I'm surprised there's no recall or bulletin from Toyota on this.
Do I need this for my 3rd gen? I got the Eibach stage 2R lift kit with the Icon 1.5 AAL. Just saw the video on the shims you installed and just purchased it.
Just getting around to this one as I recently did a 3by 2 lift. I have the dreaded vibrating issue coming from the what it feels under the gas pedal. I have heard about the bushing fix and have also seen this “fix”. I want to bet out in front of this before it goes in too long and need help. I have a feeling the dealer ship would laugh at me now that it is modified. Would you suggest I try to hit up the shop who did the lift or just try this fix first?
Check to see if your vibe goes away by switching your truck into 4hi on a straight road at around 40 mph. If the vibe disappears when you do that then you need to do the ECGS bushing replacement.
Tacomaholic yeah it does go away after putting it into 4H. I suppose I will have to call the place who installed the lift. The bushing replacement is out of my league of DIY. I was hoping to do a cheaper fix. Have you heard anyone say how much they are spending to this bushing replacement? Thank you for your response
I just got a letter from Toyota to let me know about the vibration. It says to go to my local dealer to get the issue fixed. I have a 09 sr5 prerunner and it does vibrate when it changes gears. I hope they fix it but if not I will try this method. Thanks for all your videos I’ve been making small mods since I bought it back in April. Keep it up 👍🏻
Tacomaholic Yes it is. I didn't noticed the vibration when i first bought it until about a month later. I have notice that when I put the truck in 4 wheel drive the vibration stops but still it needs to get fixed.
Crazy how relevant this is... I literally was browsing forums yesterday to fix my vibe. Wondering if you have any input. I have a billies installed in the front set to max height and 1.5 aal in the rear. truck sits nice and level but I’m definitely getting a strong vibration at about 20-50mph. I installed 2 washers on each side on the cb today and there didn’t seem to be any change. This is a 2014 trd sport 4x4.
Thanks for watching buddy! If you got the vibes after you lifted your truck then it probably is your driveshaft geometry causing it. However, find a straight road where the vibe replicates for you at that speed range and then put your truck into 4wd ... if the vibe goes away at that point then you need to do the ECGS bushing mod.
I bought one of these for my truck after I did my 3” rough country lift. Sadly it did not help my vibration issue. Wasn’t a bad deal for $9, but on top of the vibration issue, now I have to deal with getting new CV axles. I don’t know if anyone else has that issue.

What if you have the vibration without a lift. Mine is a 2012.
Is recommended for tacomas with a 2" lift? Or anything above 2" only?
It's usually a good idea if you get vibrations after lifting.
