Thanks man your video was extremely helpful it’s guys like you that make me an awesome DIY mechanic saving me thousands in repairs. ✌️
Glad it helped
Dude! This was great!!! Super informative and although not everyone has access to a lift, it definitely allows you to get in there with the camera and show exactly what you’re doing.

Great video guys! I super appreciate this type of comprehensive info on the truck mods out there. I haven't even bought my truck yet, but it's nice to have solid info for what's to come.
thanks dana! once you get your truck if you need some help getting it to where you want it to be our support team is more than willing to guide you through it! you can contact them at support@tacomabeast.com
Thanks for the detailed instructions. After waiting a few months mine finally arrived and I'll be installing them next week.
Informative video and perfecting timing as I am adding some Archive Garage hammer hangers and relocation kit with new bypass shocks and new Deaver leafs. Was debating between the stage 1 and stage 2 but after seeing your truck, def going to go with the heavier spring. Thanks!
Awesome video and super informative man! Thanks for sharing 🤙
Great install video. Glad you’re liking the Deavers. One thing to add is that Deaver does offer custom leaf springs. If someone anticipates carrying more than 1,000lbs in the back just give Deaver a call and they can make a custom leaf pack based off the individual needs. They are great to work with.
i thought a tacoma can carry around 1000lbs anyway and the stage one increase it 300lbs up to around 1300lbs? right?
Great video. You guys are highly respected and doing it right without the guesswork.
Thanks J! that was all with the help of the awesome guys at the Austin DIY shop! they made it easy to do it right!
Beautiful! Thank you for this!! 🙏🏽
I have done it on a 1gen 10+years ago ....Deaver j66 awesome riding on pillows...now I am going. To do to my 2gen ...... Greasable shackles for sure poly bushings Squeak
I washout to make the same huge mistake of using blocks to lift my truck but after watching this video I understood why the cheap rout is to a good idea... great content
Great video very informative. You’ve definitely given me a good direction to go. Big Thanks
Great to hear!
Thank you for posting this video. I have everything I need to do this project myself. Again thank you so much.
Glad it was helpful!
Awesome video! Really informative!
Great video, and a lot of information....learned a lot.
Question what if you already have lifted the truck with blocks, can I still add those new springs?
Thanks for motivating me to do my own leaf springs upgrade! this was a very helpful video. I need to find a DIY auto shop near me in LA/Orange County.
We’re you able to find a good DIY shop in LA/OC?? I’m in Hunting Beach & looking for a place to replace my Tundra leafs. Best I’m seeing is Urban Workshop in Costa Mesa. $200 for a month membership.
This was an immense help. Thanks!
Appreciate your excellent videos. I also appreciate your clean language. You're not too far from Tulsa.
thanks J we work hard to make great content here at Tacomabeast! glad you enjoy it!
I can't wait to install Deaver stage 3 springs on my tacoma!

Wow the last part of the video was cool plugging that guy.. dope I subscribed after that
thanks juan! we love to support local shops as much as we can and these guys were great!
Perfect Video. Well done!
This video saved me from an agonizing leaf spring change.
Made it easy.
I have very limited mechanical skills, however this was pain stakingly long because i do have a 1/2 in torque gun, which is great, my smaller tools and pieces that make using that gun in diff spots are minimal so thats the kicker.
Point is, i changed the upper control arms on my tacoma n i think if u can do that (sounds eady right? Go do it n tell me how long it took ya lol) i can do just about anything. That was damn near the biggest pia ever. Esp when someone shows ya effortlessly moving a body panel with a crow bar n ur like oh it doesn't need to move that much, fml.
Anyway this is straight forward.
The hardest part for me believe it or not was getting the 9 year old rear shocks off as i replaced mine too, n man were they a B. I tried diff vice grips on the top and under the bolt because as ur trying to loosen a deteriorated bolt, the shock is spinning (who the f invented this garbage like this). Whst worked for me, was a 14mm ratcheting box wrench and a pair of channel locks and i used a nice size c clamp to basically make vice grips but waaaaay better than vice grips. I clamped that sucker so tight n then u have a big handle to hold onto, its a win win. Worked amazing for anyone who doesn't have vice grips (dont even waste ur money, ive found they rarely work for anything, n only use those if ur replacing ur shock of course, otherwise no need to remove the top bolt at all.
Sorry for the story but maybe it can help someone.
Dude that’s some pretty solid advice! And we’re glad our video helped you out!! 🤙🤙
I used Toyota OEM bushings for my Dakar leafs for my 2015 Tacoma. Much quieter than the poly bushings. Good alternative to people who want a squeaky free leafs.
When people talk about dakars squeaking is it only the poly bushings that cause this do u know??or is it the speings themselves?? Ive heard whwn its cold they get very squeaky and its put me off from buying dakars
@@bengleckl1877 no that’s not the only reason. I went the extra mile and bought leaf liners. Before installing the leaf packs I lined all my leafs with leaf liners. 2 years later, zero noise from my leafs. I off-road a lot too with water crossings etc. oem bushings + leaf liners = zero noise. I highly recommend it.
Nice!! Clear, concise and good video angles showing what’s being done!! Need this the factory leaf on my limited are flat with an empty bed lol.
Cool but I tow and use my bed. Plus I’m considering a decked system and a leitner rack to try and organize and free up the little cabin space I have. That or trade this thing for a Land Cruiser 🤔 lol.
Tacoma Beast Yep. Been flying for a about 3 years. Granted haven’t flown much this year it’s to damn hot in FL lol.

Awesome video... comprehensive but to the point.
Glad it was helpful!
good video, very well explained
Very helpful video, thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Very helpful video!!
One of the best how to vids
Thank you 🔥
Solid how-to. Thanks.
Great video on the install.
@mateo - is there any reason you didn't keep the stage 2 and use bags with Daystar cradles so you can adjust for load?
Excellent video THANKS!!!!
Thanks for watching!
2013 Gen 2 is paid off finally, now time to play. That you for the info and the how too video I'm on a budget but have access to a lift, to do my DIY. Thanks again and very glad I subscribed a few weeks back and showing the wife your videos of what I want to do.
With all the added weight I’d look into more stopping power. SOS performance has a nice big brake kit discs all around no more rear drums.
Going ALL Pro Leaf 3" Springs Expeditions with U bolt flip kit W Fox shocks. Deaver sag and squeak. Great Video on installing them. Will be using it.
How'd you like your expedition leafs
@@kennethmartin339 worked great no more sag at rear end
Exactly what I'm looking for
Just installed a set stage 2 deavers today. I got that set because the bumper I had put on two weeks completely smashed the stock leafs on my Pro. To my suprise, the stage 2s gave me 4" of lift in the rear, even with all the extra weight. Granted, nothing has really settled yet, but I would definitely recommend the stage 2 set for people who have future plans for their ride that way you're ahead of the game. If you're not gonna have extra weight consistently, get the stage one anyway because the stock Tacoma leafs are absolutely weak. My rear bumper only weighed 90lbs and it flatened those leafs and gave me that stupid looking sag.
That’s great to hear! And thanks for the tip 🤙
Well you've got a following here in the Northeast! Come to boston buddy. Sick vid!
thank you justin! we used to think Boston was too cold but after the texas snowmageddon we might have changed our minds 😅
wow this video is a few years old ..but super helpful. Thank you
Thank you! We try to be as helpful as possible
I really like Deavers leafs. Makes me feel fancy sometimes.
Great Vid! Very timely for me since I’m looking at getting new leafs. I have an add a leaf right now but since I’ve added the bed rack and tent with some accessories attached to the rack it definitely is sagging now.
My question is what would you recommend? I am going to add a rear bumper in aluminum with swing out that will add about another 80lb or so. Probably looking at somewhere around 350-400. Sounds like i should go stage 2?
Thanks again!
Yes swingouts are about 40lb-50lb because they will be steel and bumper itself will be made from aluminum roughly 40-50lb as well so weight will be about 80lb-110lb is what I am expecting!
Great video.
Thx
Heck ya found a DYI shop near me 2011 ...taco truck ..gunna run .dobinson suspenion down the track mate...cheers
Awesome, thank you, brother.
Glad I could help!
Great video very detailed…
I just put on icon rxt with your help. Thanks
Bro great video.
Appreciate it
Like the vid very informative. I have a broken leaf spring on a stock 2011 Tacoma that needs to be replaced and I wanted to know if the process is within my capability. I don't have a lift but I think I can make due with jack stands on the frame and supporting the axle with the jack.
Honestly can be done at home, although it might take some days
Awesome video, great instructional value.but one question, where did you get your roof rack.
tacomabeast.com/collections/roof-racks-3rd-gen/products/2nd-and-3rd-gen-cab-rac?variant=29058517106790
My friend you have the best Tacoma I've ever seen I love it keep up the good work
Awesome video, I’ve got a second gen tacoma with a 3” lift. Blocks in the rear with an add-a-leaf. As I use this truck for camping, work and hauling a atv I’m looking for something better. What would be the best pack for me? I do like the look of rake in the rear so just wondering if anybody could give me some solid options with my current lift height. Thanks!
I’m getting rid of my blocks in the back and getting new front coil overs and rear lift. I was initially thinking just an add a leaf but with my rooftop tent and will be getting high clearance steal bumper. What’s the difference between the OME leaves and the stage 2 or 3 deavers? As far as weight it can handle. Because the OMEs are much cheaper. Total weight in the back will be around 400lbs. Thank you for your help.
Could you tell me which end of the spring goes forward, the double wrapped or single wrapped end?
I have a 6inch rough country lift what would be best for my weekend warrior all I really do in the truck is drive back and forth to work but i do want the extra support in case i do tow something one day
Can you add a wulf 2” add a leaf without upgrading the rear shocks? Leaving them the Bilstein 4600 stock 2019 Tacoma Trd off road. Thanks
@matteo- What brand did u use in lubricating the bushings? Any recommendations? By the way, great video man!🤙🏽

If I want to install long travel leaf's and I keep my Bilstein, struts for now and upgrade later or will I need to upgrade the struts at the same time?
Great video and thanks for sharing. So the Tacoma goes from a 1/2 ton payload to 3/4 ton (or more). What are your thoughts on the wheel bearings? Are they still within their working range? (This is assuming your are using the stock axle.)
I bought deavers right after seeing this video. I like them other than the coating came off quickly and now they are rusted and noisey. I recently reached out to deaver to see what they think. Great video though
Poopy customer service when ordered through Tacoma Beast. 4 different emails 4+ weeks ago, still no response.
lol
Would also be nice if they actually respond to some of the questions posted in the comments. I mean we are essentially making them money on RUclips.
Hey, great video. Just about to do this on my 2012 Tacoma, but was wondering if you’d recommend replacing the through bolts also? I have new U bolts but the ones connected at the front and back of the entire spring?
You can keep the same ones 🤙
Very well explained!!! I like how you include torque values. Looks very straight forward as you say. I was quoted $1000 for labour to install 4 leaf springs and 4 shocks on my 1988 Toyota Hilux (I have front and rear leaf springs with a SFA). Plus $3000 for a Dobinson lift kit. So $4000 total. Sounds ridiculous high to me. Is replacing leaf springs totally something that could be done as a DIY project?? Doesn’t look so difficult to me. What is your opinion on Old Man Emu vs. Dobinson leafs and shocks? Thanks!
OME has got more of a rep but we found them to be a bit stiff, as far as doing it at home, it can definitely be done with the right equipment, you just have to be really careful and mindful of putting everything in the right place 🤙
I have a 15 taco trd sport. I won’t be having weight 90% of the time. I do camp so towing/bed loading I will have. I have a 1.5 block right now. Will the aal no block give me a rough ride? Or a rougher ride. I have the height alrdy I just want some towing/loading help. Should I just go with helper springs?
What is your opinion on using air bags versus leaf springs. Can you use a combination?
Can i just add the stage 3 and not change the current stock Bilstein shocks on my off road? Looking to have about 1k lbs on the bed daily (work truck)
So I need 4 inches in the rear, should I just get a 2 inch leaf pack and a 2 inch drop shackle? Cant find any kit for 4 inch lift...
@mateo would be nice if you could respond to the questions viewers are posting here. They are good questions if answered would be helpful.
Do these leaf packs from Deaver come with the bushings and new U-bolts?
"Spring under conversion kit and after-market shackle required." What is this? I am looking to buy a pair of the Deaver Tacoma Leaf Packs. I need my 2017 TRD Offroad at stock height. DO I need a spring under conversion and shackle to install the Deaver Leaf Pack?
So can heavier load rates lead springs up the trucks payload?
Thank you for the informative video. I'm kind of surprised that they make leaf springs for 1,000 payload capacity. FYI, the payload capacity for a double cab is 1400lbs, which includes all upgrades, bumpers, sliders, winch, topper, persons and cargo.
I think it's way overstated by Toyota. I'm bottoming with about 750. I'm ordering stage 3 Deavers.
Please help me I have a 2010 Toyota Tacoma 4 x 4 getting ready to order a rear springs two and three-quarter inch lift old man springs not sure if they are the right ones after watching your videoPlease respond back thanks
anyone know if you can keep your stock rear struts along with a stage 3 deaver leaf pack? thanks in advance
Hello I have 6 inch rough country lift would I be able to install that still with the lift?
Great video, like to see more of these. You forgot to mention there's a 3 leaf AAL option.
do they carve TCMBST on them for you so you know it was from them?
Does the rear ride higher when the truck is not fully loaded with gear?
The ... only concern I'd have would be with the angle of the input to the rear diff. Every prep I've used before involved one-side to torque before touching the second side.
I think all of those had the rear axle on jack stands, not tires for the final torque (likely lazy mode.)
Otherwise, I'm doing pretty much this whole vid in a garage with no lift this weekend or next.
So the higher the stages the stiffer the ride? Even if you have king shocks for example
OME Squeaky!!! only 2 years just installed Ironman4x4 we will see how they do
How have the ironman held up?
@@bengleckl1877 well they were doing really good, no squeaking but I rolled my truck on some ice so..... lol
@@joshuaison9614 😬 damn
So if i install a stage 3 but don’t have all that weight all the time is that gonna cause an issue like ride quality or anything like that?
Is that anti sieze lubricant being used on the bushings? Is that ok to use?
Hi bro! can i use stage 3 for load 2000lbs-2400lbs?
We have a 4 Wheel Camper on our 2021 Tacoma. We have added Firestone Airbags and they do work well but am thinking a Deaver Stage III would really be the best call. The campers weighs about 1400 lbs in total, based on your comments it seems like you would recommend Deaver Stage III's, would that be the best call in your opinion?
Hey Gerard, that would probably be a better question to ask our support team, they’ll be able to give you a more detailed and thorough explanation 🙌 you can contact them at: support@tacomabeast.com 🤙
Wish I saw this video a week ago. Just added fox shocks and had to buy all my tools. Also the rear lower shock mounts got messed up by the previous owner who over torqued the bolts .
Sorry to hear that, next time shoot us a dm on Instagram and we’ll send you a lino to whatever install you’re doing it we have it 🤙
Doesn’t the U-bolt nuts and all the leaf springs bolts need to be under vehicle weight prior to torquing to specs?
2009 with an insulated are topper hauling a drift boat what do you think the leafs need to be? Definitely sagging right now with the stock setup TRD offroad
I would put some heavy duty OME or stage 3 deavers
I have a taco wit king suspension all around nd a block in the rear leaf but u can tell it’s still not leveled and I was just wondering witch leaf pack would work for me I dnt plan on running any accessories on the rear
Shoot us an email at support@tacomabeast.com and we’ll be happy to help you with that 🤙
How do the All-pro leafs compare?
Is it best to use something else to lubricate the bushings? Maybe like sil-glyde or anything else for polyurethane bushings?
i was guessing antiseize would work
Looks like stage one is good for someone who just wants to carry a heavy load of like 1200lbs sometimes, right? Thanks
Yep 🤙
I have a sliding tonneau cover that weighs 70lbs. Would the stage 1 be plenty of support for the weight? I don’t really haul a lot in my truck but maybe once in a while.
Stage 1 will be good for just that, if you plan on hauling more in the future you could invest in a stage 2 or 3 depending on how heavy you’re going 🤙
On my back passenger leaf one of the middle leafs shifted more towards the rear. I bought a new leaf but i was wondering if i can just somehow push the leaf back center or should i just change it out?. Also the leaf i bought i forgot that i added a leaf on the old one so the left would have one more than the new one. Help pls
hey bro! if you need some help with your taco you can contact our support team at: support@tacomabeast.com they'll be more than happy to help you with any questions you have!
Are those standard length eibachs ?
might've been asked already, but what kind of lubrication was used for the bushings?
Anti-seize
