KFlo just bought an 07 trd or and new to your channel. Nice content and video editing. I would like to up grade my shocks front and back and leafs. Question. If my leafs are already flattening out, What do you recommend for shocks and leafs. I would like to add maybe a 2in lift. Thanks for your time
KFlo, would you be willing to 3D print some more spacers? My bracket also doesn't reach the axle just like your situation. I'm trying to avoid drilling and cutting an extra bracket onto the existing one...
There, finally got done. Thanks to you and your helpful tips. I especially like the fact you’re working on the ground, and not using a lift. Thank you for posting.
Great video....clear, good video, common sense approach. Just ordered one for my 98 2WD Tacoma. I have a 5 lug taco, so lift options are limited, this looks like a good option. Thanks!
Hey KFlo, thanks again for posting another awesome video. Though I didn't add a leaf, I used your video to walk me through replacing the leaf springs on my Taco. Keep up the great work!
At minimum, I would recheck the toe angles. I have a method for that. You can watch my alignment at home video: ruclips.net/video/T9jgIvYc168/видео.html
Yea, technically yes. Just make sure that your AAL has a new center bolt since the new thickness of the leaf pack will not work with the old center bolt
Hi, we recently bought this 2007 Toyota Tacoma Crew cab,4x4, 4L V6. We found out from dealership that rust and rear leaf springs were done 5 yrs ago. But the rear springs look like they're kinda saggy and overloaded condition. I watched some videos about the repairs and servicing of these rear springs that the height of the fender flares from the ground is 37 inches before replacements, while ours are 36 inches. Any reference you can tell me what might be the correct distance from the ground to the fender? Thanks.
Good video, but you didn't need to remove the entire leaf pack from the truck. You could have performed this task much easier by leaving the springs in place. Just a little FYI.
BadCow, I totally agree with you that it can be done without the leaf springs. Although, these were new OEM leafsprings from the dealership recall and as soon as I removed the securing bolt for the leaf pack, the leaves expanded and I had no clearance at all, even with the blocks removed. The rear axle were already dropped as far as it can go without overstretching the rubber brake line.
Hey did you ever replace tour brake lines for extended brake lines after doing your lift ? You think it’s necessary iv heard if you dont theres a high chance of the oem lines tearing off if you are off road
I have not replaced the brake lines. I've gone off road driving with the truck multiple times. I will be replacing them with longer ones though in the future. As long as you don't do any hard core rock crawling, I think you'll be fine. Watch my vermont overland videos, you'll see the extent of the off road driving we did.
Hey LSanti, no squeaking bro. These are also pretty new warranty replaced leaf springs though. The previous leaf springs were squeaking pretty badly. I found that shooting a bit of lube in between the leaves did help at the time.
Hey man can I do an add a leaf kit like you mentioned with a sumo pump set up too? I have a 19 off road with a camper top, RTT, decked drawers, and equipment. All stock set up. I did just buy 17 in trd pro wheels. Any suggestion on a set up
Yes you can! try it without the sumo spring first and see how that works out. Adding a leaf does increase the loading capacity of the rear regardless and you may not need the sumo springs.
hey KFlo, I wanna do an add a leaf on top of a lift block like you have done here. Have you experienced any issues with the lift block and add a leaf? Thanks for the help.
No Issues. I would suggest to watch my latest video on my most current setup. When you add more weight to the back, you'll have to switch to heavier springs (i.e steel rear bumper, tire carrier etc.)
Yes that is correct. The back was starting to sag because of all the load. I have a cap, roof tent and motorcycle that i like to take around. Check my IG to see how much stuff I put back there. The block is actually only about 2 inches and the add a leaf adds i believ another 1.5. If i get rid of the block then the whole rear actually goes lower by about 0.5 inches. For me, i like the rear higher than the front anyways so I kept both. Its you're own self preference though at the end of the day
Is your block in the right way? That kinda looked like the supreme suspensions block. I thought it was supposed to go in the other way. Any vibrations?
Hey bro I got a question. I have a 92 2wd pickup that's a spring under. How should I lift it to get 27" truck tires on it. Is it possible to switch it so it's a spring over like a normal truck? Any suggestions greatly appreciated thanks.
When you say spring under you're saying that the spring is under the axle right? I just want to make sure we're using the same terminology. If that's what you mean, according to some quick google searches, these are normally spring over rear axles. You can just purchase stock parts and get it back to its precious configuration
Great video! How long did the install take you? Trying to do mine (Bilstein 5100s, OME 885s, 2” AAL) this weekend so I’m trying to see how much time I should expect to spend
I would recommend budgeting about 4-6 hours. It's hard for me to give you a straight answer with mine because filming and getting good lighting and camera angles really do slow me down tremendously.
Hey man i thought the add a leaf was to get rid of the block ? The add a leaf says it lifts the truck 1.5-2” shouldn’t this mean you dont add the block after?
The leaf only adds about 1.5" when loaded. The block adds 2". If I swapped the two then the rear would squat lower than I want. I didn't want to loose that clearance, additionally I do run my truck heavy with the cap and the tent on there all the time. At the end of the day, it's really up to you and how you run your truck
Also how thick is your front spacer ? I have. A 1.5” thick soacer in front , how much lift does that equal ? And in the rear i have a 2” thick spacer . Will i get the same lift i have now by replacing the block with the add a leaf ?
Another question man sorry for all the questions . Do you have regular front cv axels or upgraded high angle ones ? Iv heard that with the lift i have they are at a high angle and might go out quick
LOL no worries. Here's my answers: total lift: 3.5" spacer thickness: 2" Front spacer: same as you 1.5" thick If you're riding light without any heavy constant weight on the back of your truck (like mine with the cap tent and stuff i leave in the back), you can effectively replace the spacer I have regular front CV axles, but I do have a front diff drop from the kit - that's important. You can't have severe drive angles for those CV joints.
hey i see that you are from jersey. Im from jersey as well. My rear sags a bit after the new dakars. Waiting on aal to arrive. Thanks for the detailed video. Do you by any chance do installs for other people?
Hey brother i fallow your vids and tend to watch them im currently lifting my truck i seen you had already left ir 3 inches why the need to install a leaf on it??
The back was starting to sag because of all the load. I have a cap, roof tent and motorcycle that i like to take around. Check my IG to see how much stuff I put back there
Ok cool!but theres no need to remove the 3 inch spacer block you placed between the axel and leaf spring???i have a 2000 tacoma prerunner 2.7liter 6 lug model witha 3 inch block in rear what spring you recommend me gettingt my bad for bugging but you have your truck exactly how i want it!!!
The block is actually only about 2 inches and the add a leaf adds i believ another 1.5. If i get rid of the block then the whole rear actually goes lower by about 0.5 inches. For me, i like the rear higher than the front anyways so I kept both. Its you're own self preference though at the end of the day
Hey bro is there a way these have to go ? Meaning do they have front and back or doesnt matter ? I had mine installed and the right side is higher than the left , everything seems to be correct but im not exactly sure on what it might be
If you're using the exact one that i recommended then no there is no front to back orientation. How much is the difference between the left and right side? Keep in mind, all the heavy parts are on the left side of the truck (gas tank ,battery etc.)
It is 1” difference but only in the rear . The left side measures 40” from the ground to the bottom of the fender and the right measures 41” . And this is measuring on level ground . 1” is too much to be the gas tank i think . They are not the same that you used . Do you have the same measurements on both sides?
The passenger side is about 1/8" taller. I do have a roof top tent that sits on the passenger side of the truck and weighs about 130 lbs. What other heavy mods do you have? Have your friend sit on the passenger side of the truck bed and remeasure to see if that makes a difference. What type of add-a-leaf did you buy?
Were you able to take measurements beforehand? You'll be surprised at how much sag the driver side has over the passenger side. Watch my tacoma lean video, I had a sag of about 1 inch at the driver side
Haha thanks brother, please share my vids with your tacoma friends! i was originally from Passaic county and then moved to Ocean County.. Which state are you at now?
Hey bro were u able to watch my videos ? The side that is higher i also noticed that the wheel sticks out about 1/2 more than the other side .is that normal? Or is there something iff aswell since its 1” higher and the wheel sticks out more on that side
Yes i idid just watch. Here are some recommendations: 1. Sag is based on spring force - Have a friend sit on the passenger side and take measurements again. 2. Check to make sure the base of the leaf pack is installed on center on the axle mounting pad 3. Check the add a leaf to see if the friction pad is installed on both the front and the back of the leaf 4. Check the leaf shackle mount at the rear to see if they are both installed the same way and angled in the same manner
I already took measurements and everything seems to be on correct but im still not sure on the reason . Also the same side thats higher the wheel sticks out 3/4 more than the other side , is there a way to fix the wheel sticking out?
I had squeaking when I first bought the truck and then there was a recall on the rear OEM leaf springs. The dealer replaced them for free and the new ones didn't have any. You can check your truck to see if there's any outstanding recalls, if not then they do sell the friction pads in between the leaf springs if you wanted to go that route. The other route would be to just replace the leaf springs outright.
Thats a good idea. I did ending up upgrading the leaf springs to the dobinsons heavy with my Four wheel Camper setup. Check out my latest walk through video
I was adjusting rear brakes on my 13 Taco...have a cracked leaf on the passenger spring pack. I am upgrading to new and heavy duty rear springs. I found a local spring shop that will replace with new springs and charge 110 labor per side. I will consider adding helper leafs if required. Tacomas have weak rear springs and shitty drum brakes. So the truck is well made but not perfect.
lol those are NOT c-clamps, they are pullers (pushers?). you should always use the right tool for the job, and those, while they do a similar thing, arent it. otherwise, very informative video.
It will be very difficult, I would not recommend it. It would be easier o remove the rear springs completely since you will also need to re-align the mounting holes on each leaf

What does adding leaf do for truck?
Great instructions and vid quality, looking at buying a used tacoma , fatigued of dodge diesel issues
Used tacomas will definitely last you a lifetime. Just watch out for frame corrosion when you're shopping around

Yes, that's exactly what I do in this video

So after it settled how much actual lift did you get
About 3 - 3.5" depending on how much weight i have on the bed
Is that 3 to 3 1/2 just the leaf spring or is that including the block if so how big is the block
It includes the block. The add a leaf adds about 1.5" and the block adds 2"

Yes i idid just watch. Here are some recommendations:
1. Sag is based on spring force - Have a friend sit on the passenger side and take measurements again.
2. Check to make sure the base of the leaf pack is installed on center on the axle mounting pad
3. Check the add a leaf to see if the friction pad is installed on both the front and the back of the leaf
Is there a wheel spacer?
No the wheels have an offset but only 1 sticks out 3/4 more than the rest . On the same side i have the issue with it being higher
Maybe its that one wheel. Did you check the differences?
