before you unbolt the center bolt I mark all the springs from top to bottom. then when you go back together you line up the line you made and there is no guessing. might help line the springs faster
I did this with my tacoma on the floor though. To make it much easier to put the bolt trough the springs at 6:48 insted of using clamps you can use your emergency jack. put it upside down the base towards the bottom of the frame and the part pushing towards the leaf springs while you have your other jack of jackstands holding the axel in place from the bottom. makes it much more easier. To center the hole you can also use a center punch or just a screw driver. put it trough the hole and adjust it so the pin can go it easier.
Why does that bottom leaf not get connected/bent? Doesn’t that just make it an oversized spacer at that point? Why not use it as extra suspension force?
Ok. Thanks for the info...i had it reinstalled. I'd rather be safe knowing I have the overload in then always having to worry about my leaf springs breaking.
Did this add a leaf give the truck some rake? I was told by zone that the leaf is necessary for crew cabs to be properly level. And without it it would be front high. I'm not a fan of how it looks with the rake. Will the leaf settle into a more level stance or should I look at changing something up ?
The Add-a-leaf will work with your factory leaf pack and will add to it. This will provide additional lift without allowing axle roll or stability issues.
RealTruck.com you tiptoed around his question. Will the leaf springs be able to spin off to the side since they no longer have that pin to maintain alignment?
You cant reuse the roll pin because the add a leaf doesnt have the hole for it. The leaves should still stay aligned because the u bolts will keep them from spinning. Most roll pins or dowels are use too keep alignment when installing seperate components together so that the actual structural securement (bolts) are easier to install.
I noticed you didnt use any hardware or brackets that came with the kit. I just got this add a leaf kit in the mail and all the bracketry must have fallen out will i be ok to do the install?
Im having a zone 6.5'' lift installed on my 2011 gmc sierra. Is it necessary to have the add a leaf installed as well? Im afraid if I don't, then my truck will look funny and Im worried the same if I do have it installed then I will be dipping in the front. I just want it to look even. HELP!!!
Did you ever get the lift? If you have did you get the add a leaf? I got the add a leaf on mine and it looks higher in the rear but was told without it it's higher in the front. I just want my truck level lol
do you have an add a leaf kit for an 01 Silverado 1500 z71 also can you get the kit without new shocks. My current shocks are long enough for a 1" lift so I don't think I need new shocks.
Ethan, Here is a link to the Add a leaf for your vehicle. Let me know if you have any questions. www.realtruck.com/zone-off-road-replacement-add-a-leaf-springs/R184003P2001Y734MA.html
it actually depends on the vehicle. It can be anywhere from 1 - 2 inches. On this one it was 1 1/2 inches. On a Ford Expedition it is 2 inches. Just as an example.
+RealTruck.com....well I have a 2015 Silverado ext.cab with standard bed. stock 20's. Going to stick with 20's but a 20x10 with negative offset or 18x10/11's
***** Thanks I appreciate it. I'm trying to piece together a lift kit that would fit my specific needs and I want to do it and incorporate an add-a-leaf with it. Maybe you guys could help me with that. I went to a local truck shop here in Miami, FL. and the guy didn't really seem as if he was very helpful and wanted me to go another route but that wouldn't help with my needs, only help the lift. I want to setup my truck for my personal specifications, not just a look.
Timothy Kiniris Absolutely! Click this link www.realtruck.com/toyota-accessories/t-100/1993/ and it will bring you to all of the accessories that are available for your T-100. let me know if you have any questions.
blackericdenice it only had them on the rearward end of the springs and just the top two so it wasn't necessary to remove them. If you have any other questions about this or any of the other 500000 plus accessories we sell and would like to speak to a person directly feel free to contact our knowledgeable Customer Service folks at 877-216-5446
Boun Moua do you mean after installing it? If so no. If you are talking about the factory OE leaf not necessarily. It will reduce payload capacity though and if you load it like it still had them it could bend or break the other leaf springs.
I have a broken spring, can I take this broken spring off, then take the same spring off the other side then add this procedure to fix my problem, of a broken spring, if not then what to do?
I have been trying to buy two springs to replace the one I broke, one spring for the broken one and one to change out the same spring on the other side. But have been treated like a lepper, with people telling me to got to a specialty spring shop, to buy the whole spring assembly, and of course then I would have to buy to sets at nearly 700 dollars, all this for one broken spring. I am at the end of my rope trying to find a couple of springs to put on my truck. Please any suggestions would be appreciated.
Try a wrecking yard. You can probably get the whole spring pack for half what a new one costs. I would, however, suggest that you change both sides because the one you replace could be weaker or stronger than the one on your truck and it will cause a sagging effect on the weaker side,
Well with my luck holding steady, my rear-end is going bad. So will have to find complete rear an spring assembly now. 63 K on my tundra now the spring broke and rear went out.
+Hitman Dz thanks! You guys keep watching and subscribing to our channel, we'll keep 'em coming. By the way. Feel free to share these vids on your Social Media sites ie Facebook, twitter, etc..
+Sean Rayburn because add a leaf kits are NOT Lift Kits. They are designed to allow for increased load capacity or to boost up worn factory leafsprings.
+Sean Rayburn Thankyou though I want a lift more than anything but also do some heavy loads on the farm so it would be a good thing to have once again Thankyou
+Sean Rayburn There might be one. I did a 3 inch add a leaf for a 2000 tacoma but in reality it wont give you the 3 inch lift. be carefull before you go out and buy a lift since some of those trucks have metal tube brake hoses that dont allow for that extra 3 inch lift. if you do get it then you might have to change those too which is a pita
I have a 2008 silverado with worn leaf springs will the add a leaf still raise the vehicle an inch? I have a 4 inch block also would I still be able to run my block and the u bolts with this kit? Any info helps thank you
+Justin Foster not confused. Trying to make sure I had it lined up correctly and listening to my videographer trying to direct at the same time. LOL gets pretty hard to pay attention sometimes.
Hey guys I installed the add leaf on my truck and long story short... It’s too high guys unless you have a welding rig to put in the back it doesn’t look good I have 700 lbs in the back of my truck right now and it’s still not completely level...
So, from reading the comments... The dude, in the video has no clue what the spring clamps are for. With the DOZENS of people asking about them. REALTRUCK doesn't care enough to have anyone answer. Other than.. Call and ask someone ELSE!

Trevor Levitt great tip! We'll try it next time. Thanks!

What about the 4 spring clamps that are included in the kit?
Did you ever install them? Is there a proper method of installing them?
Is there any safety, ride, slippage issues with the removal of the roll pin?
Hello one question.
And the metallic pieces that are used as a guide, how they are put on, thank you, I hope for an answer in this regard.
What about the spring clamps??
The white pads taped to the ends of the leaf springs are you supposed to install them with those on or take them off before installing ?
Do you have a videos that shows how to install the spring clamps ?
I am not aware of a video showing these installed. If you have questions though you can give us a call and we can see what we can do to help.
Great video. Very detailed, and simple to understand. Thanks for this video, out of all I've watched this is by far the best. Keep up the good work.
William Sanchez Thanks William for the Feedback!
We’re do all the metal clamp pieces go that came with the kit?
Will this work on a flip kit? Trying to lift 1.5 - 2 inches. Thanks in advance
how much lift does this add a leaf kit create? I have a 2015 Silverado Ext cab.
does it matter where you put the add-a-leaf? like above the bottom leaf or just under the top? does it depend on the model?
Why does that bottom leaf not get connected/bent? Doesn’t that just make it an oversized spacer at that point? Why not use it as extra suspension force?
Do I have to use a lift shocks by doing this or I can use the regular oem shocks
Ok. Thanks for the info...i had it reinstalled. I'd rather be safe knowing I have the overload in then always having to worry about my leaf springs breaking.
Boun Moua good call. I would have done the same. Depending on what I was doing with or to the truck.
Thanks for posting this video. I just installed add-a-leafs in my truck and this video was super helpful.
+Chris Ward awesome! Glad we could be here to help.
I think I missed the part when you finished and installed those spring clips.
No. He stopped after the pin and left us wondering if the oem u-bolts will fit.

I'm not a fan of how it looks with the rake. Will the leaf settle into a more level stance or should I look at changing something up ?
Sorry to clarify I also have the zone 6.5 lift like big red
Where are these kits made?
So does that mean you don't need to re use the roll pin? Without it, will the leaf springs twist around?
The Add-a-leaf will work with your factory leaf pack and will add to it. This will provide additional lift without allowing axle roll or stability issues.
Yes I know, but what do you do with the roll pin at 4:47? Do you re use it? Throw it away? What...
Last time I saw a guy dropped a tire from that height, it bounced right back up to his jaw!!
Ouchy

+D. Hernandez about 1 1/2 inches.
+RealTruck.com.... isn't there an "add-a-leaf" kit that bumps it up 2inches??
it actually depends on the vehicle. It can be anywhere from 1 - 2 inches. On this one it was 1 1/2 inches. On a Ford Expedition it is 2 inches. Just as an example.

Hi, i actually have instaled a leaf in my ranger, but now it sound like a old bed.. you have a solution?
Renato Morales: For best results, it is advised that you contact the manufacturer of your leaf directly for technical support and troubleshooting.
Do you know if there are any after market parts for a '93 Toyota T100
Timothy Kiniris Absolutely! Click this link www.realtruck.com/toyota-accessories/t-100/1993/ and it will bring you to all of the accessories that are available for your T-100. let me know if you have any questions.
There were obviously clamps in the kit, but they were not addressed in the video. When do they go on?
+Jed Bl you can put them on anytime. They wrap around the spring stack about 3 - 4 inches from the end of the add a leaf spring
Where are your safety glasses O’L SON ?
Why didn't you show how to remove the spring clamps?
blackericdenice it only had them on the rearward end of the springs and just the top two so it wasn't necessary to remove them. Will having the overload leaf removed do any damage?
Boun Moua do you mean after installing it? If so no. If you are talking about the factory OE leaf not necessarily. It will reduce payload capacity though and if you load it like it still had them it could bend or break the other leaf springs.
I have a broken spring, can I take this broken spring off, then take the same spring off the other side then add this procedure to fix my problem, of a broken spring, if not then what to do?
+Dave Taylor yes that is possible depending on which spring is broken. You can not do this with the top or bottom springs. Only the center ones.
Nice. Now would probably be a good time for some major upgrades.
do yo have to reinstall the factory block or do you leave it out?
+Kenny James with the add-a-leaf you will need the factory block. If you are adding it with a lift kit you would put the one in for the kit.
+Kenny James good question!
Great job ! Keep them videos coming
+Hitman Dz thanks! You guys keep watching and subscribing to our channel, we'll keep 'em coming. By the way. Feel free to share these vids on your Social Media sites ie Facebook, twitter, etc..

I cannot find a 3 inch add a leaf lift for my ford ranger ! 1 and 2 only ! Does anyone know why?
+Sean Rayburn because add a leaf kits are NOT Lift Kits. They are designed to allow for increased load capacity or to boost up worn factory leafsprings.
+RealTruck.com Thankyou I apreciate it but as of your knowledge they don't make 3 inch add a leaf for the ford ranger

I have a 2008 silverado with worn leaf springs will the add a leaf still raise the vehicle an inch? I have a 4 inch block also would I still be able to run my block and the u bolts with this kit? Any info helps thank you
That should be able to work with your current u-bolts and will provide 1-1.5 inch lift. This will restore height and tow capacity.
I lmao the look of confusion at 6:17 seconds haha watch it when he goes to put the leaf back in.
+Justin Foster not confused. Trying to make sure I had it lined up correctly and listening to my videographer trying to direct at the same time. LOL gets pretty hard to pay attention sometimes.
dam i died reading this comment XD LMAOOO
how high does this lift the rear?
+jesse j garcia sr the add a leaf kit is designed for load carrying. it only lifts it by about an inch.
Ok! Thanks for the reply.
+jesse j garcia sr no problem. You are welcome.
I just did this to my 2010 F150 with the zone add a leaf and it lifted my truck 2 inches
Very good informative!
Looks like there's a lot of hardware that wasn't installed.
