IT ACTUALLY TOOK CARE OF MY VIBRATIONS !!!! I did everything that you did to try and get rid of the dreaded after lift vibrations. First, I started with the Needle Bearing and replaced with a new Clamshell bearing. It didn't do anything. Next, I replaced the carrier bearing and one of the U joints and added spacers, It made it worse around the 20 to 28 mph. Sooooooooo, I watched this video on basically...the last chance on fixing the vibrations and gave it a whirl yesterday with Toytech 3 degree shims. When I took the truck for a ride to see if it actually worked, in my amazement IT DID!!!! WEEEHOOOO!!!! I can't believe it!! What a relief to finally figure out if I was ever going to fix it or drive it with an annoying vibration. So Thanks Mr. Tacomaholic Sir! I really appreciate you always taking your time to do videos for us 2nd gen Tacomaholics.' Well Done.

When I put on my King suspension with OME medium leafs on my 2015 Tacoma I installed shims off the bat because people on TW said so. After I installed the lift I got noticeable vibes right away. That same day I removed the shim and all the vibes went away. Installing or removing the shim took me less than 30 minutes. Did all the work myself with 2 jacks. So for me I didn’t need any shims. Only using the carrier bearing drop.

Before deciding to start throwing parts at a problem, understand drive like geometry. Take your truck to a knowledgeable shop and have them show you the relationship between the output angle of the transfer case and input angle of the rear differential. They need to be the same. When you install axle shims or carrier drop shims it can negatively impact those angles and cause vibration.

Hey man, great video... however, it didn’t appear that you replaced your U Bolts. Always done that with mine. Threads are damaged the first time they get torqued, so when you remove them you don’t get enough clamping force when reusing them. Just my opinion, I’ve seen people do it, but I would rather spend a little extra and make sure I don’t sheer my centerpin or lose my axle!

I’ve taken it in three times already for the same issue and I haven’t even made it to my first payment date. The third time they called Toyota and Toyota claimed “its normal” and refused to fix it. So I called Toyota directly and basically had to show them my fustration and that I was willingly to take them to court over the Lemon Law in my state. The lady I talked to was nice and said she’d send a ‘regional tech” out this Tuesday to test drive it and see what he thinks. So we shall see. I jacked the back up and driver rear tire spins freely, the other side has a rough hang up spot in the rotation. I’ve guessing that’s not normal. Its a shame.
