I did a 3" add a leaf kit on my 2wd tacoma, 3" suspension lift in front. Gave instant vribration, mostly noticed at low speeds. Installed a carrier bearing drop and no more shuddering/vibration. I almost got the axle shims isntead but carrier bearing dropw as much easier and didn't add more lift. Thank you!
@@Jawesome1Shazam I learned a lot since i made this repsonse. The proper way is to only use axle shims shims in the rear. You need to make the angle at your carrier bearing and angle at the rear axle the same. Get a digital angle finder, about $50. Then get a rear axle shim, install it and see how the angles are after, you may need to get a smaller shim or larger shim. This spacer is not the proper fix due to changing the angles in front of the carrier bearing which will stress the even more important parts of the vehicle.
@@nastysoda9212 I have the cardan joint after the carrier bearing on my truck which cancels itself out, so maybe just rotating the back axle back is all I need to do without adding anymore lift?
The previous owner did not put this kit and the bearing went bad and my mechanic didn’t put it also and mess up the bearing we drove it about two blocks and start shaking bad .. Plus he didn’t make the parts and now we have problems., we will try to do that tomorrow and trying again., wish me luck 🍀.. thanks for the video I hope it solve the problem
I have a 2019 Tacoma sport with 3/2 ready lift. Did needle bearing at time of lift install. Running 285-70-17 nitto tires. Zero vibrations.......... love to hear your results after driven.
This vibration thing is what kept me from getting tires bigger than the 32s. I've been through that in my first truck so don't want to go over it again. Great stuff!
I'm not sure but think if you lift truck you should probably replace bearing on passenger side because Toyota has weak needle bearing there. Wore out on my 08 TRD OR that had 3 inch lift.
Sure hope you let us know if you notice any difference with the drop kit. I have a 3" lift in front and back, never noticed any vibration or any thing. Just changed all my fluids on both 2016 Tacoma' today, front, rear diffs., and transfer case's on both. I'm sure glad I got the new front diff. fill and drain plugs, not 10mm hex, they are 14mm socket. Damn near stripped the other drain it was on so damn tight, also learned to use a impact wrench, they zip right off.
I have a 2018 tacoma sr5 I did 2/1 leveking kit I do notice a slight steering wheel vibration up to 30 mph after that it goes away, should I start with this and if it doesn't work move to the needle bearing? thanks!
That is called a center support bearing,, the carrier bearing is in your differential,, I had to replace mine because of my 3" lift it damaged it,, I have an after market warranty that covers my drive train and the carrier bearing but not the center support bearing, So i found that out through that processes,, And it's good that you did that because the lift will damage that bearing after a period of time, I also did add a spacer drop at 1/4",, i used a strut washer, And it took that slight vibration away from take off,, If you lower it to much it also causes a vibration and wear, That,s why i only went 1/4".., So beware of slight vibration at take off,, { Or maybe other speeds if lowered to much },,And you can adjust from there if needed as i did,, Good job;;
I had the same problem in my truck and I drop it about 3 “ and now is ok but not perfect still this weird noise ., I think I need to make it straight and level
Want to add a spring in my rear plus some stiffer shocks for when I pull a 12' trailer. The stock setup sunk more than I like to tow, wonder if I need to do this if I only raise the rear an 1"-1 1/2"?
Word is if you’re less than 4” it’s not necessary. For me, it’s so simple to do I thought I’d try it to see if I notice a difference. You could always do the same if you are noticing any issues😬
Should have said add a leaf. Thanks Rob, the cost isn't enough that would keep me from doing it if I felt I needed to. Plus I don't tow that much but am concerned how much backend went down with approx 400lbs of tongue weight.
Wait...you're shelter in place prohibits you from taking a drive? That's bs. Would a cop pull you over and ask why you're out driving? As far as I know we are not that crazy here in Ohio.
yeah, our state hasn't gotten that far, but just in case they do, our company has given us a letter that we are to carry around with it stating that we are a crucial employee and therefore we have the right to be on the road
I can't imagine this modification harming anything. You changed the angle of the rear driveshaft (front and back) when you installed the rear spacer block. All this does is reduce that angle change slightly. Don't know about you, but I couldn't find torque specs for these bolts either. Did you installed a front differential drop and skid plate spacer with your 3/2 Ready Lift? 4WD is a little different than 2WD. Front needle bearings might cause intermediate vibrations too. Keep that in mind.
Probably a bit of blue lock tight would help

I keep hearing that. How long did it take to wear out?
How can I measure how much they lift my truck ? I have a 1996 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 ?
Here’s how I measured mine: ruclips.net/video/7HVYJZzrXuw/видео.html
In a pinch I had to put 32s in the front of my stock taco and I’ve been getting vibrations

I agree with previous comment Rob... you need to torque it. Great Video Big Rob!
That’s right of course. But, it’s about as tight as humanly possible! At least this human👍

That install looked really easy. I’m interested in seeing if you can tell a difference or not.
Very simple install! I actually shot a video on that today👍
Looks like you need to invest in some torque wrenches!
I know right!!! 👍
What? No torque specs?
Nope, no specs were provided.
I remember when you bought that for your 2018 and did all the videos with the drive-shaft in motion but you never installed it? Why now?
I had it...I’m stuck at home and I thought why not! Also wanted to see if I notice anything 🤔
@@RobMotive I suggest doing the ECGS clamshell bushing mod as well.

Where did you buy the the machine that lifted your Tacoma truck . Can you send me the link. Thanks
If you’re referring to the lift, it came from Nationwide🤔

I do not. Just search Nationwide Lifts.

Great to know👍👍
Hey Rob, any chance you can measure the angle of the joints? I want to see how much is being changed by the lift.
I would...but I have no idea how🤔
Hi rob, is it better to uncoat a vehicle or not?
Depends on where you live. Me personally...I’ve never done it.
Yeah he only keeps his trucks for 5 minutes or less anyway no sense in undercoating them it won have a chance to dry. Kidding where's your mask?
Lol! I have been known to trade them frequently!!😷
