  • There are times when we need to get a power source on a temporary basis for a variety of reasons, but we must remember that extension cords are not permanent solutions for a power source. Once you determine that need for power to be more than just temporary, it's time to do the job right. Too often these temporary solutions stay in place way too long!
In this video I install an outdoor receptacle to eliminate the need for an extension cord. I share some tips on using a fish tape correctly, including the tricks I use when dealing with a length of conduit that has 90 degree bends, as well as pointers on how to maintain your fish tape.
I added the outdoor receptacle so I could power up some really cool lighting. Check out the "Shine Decor Smart RGB Neon Lights" I installed around my outdoor patio area:

You make things look so easy. Electricity is not a favorite of mine. Thanks again

think I would have done that a bit different terry. The power supply for the led strip is probably a 12 volt power supply. I would move it back to the closest 120 volt line and mount it there. Then I could simply run cheap lamp cord to the led strip. I could bury it and forget any conduit.

That would be an option, but not a good one in this situation as the low voltage side is integrated into the driver, and then the driver gets connected to 120V. I would have had to cut the low voltage side and splice. If You've ever tried to to cut cords from China lately, not fun. They are using some very funny "wire like" material these days that makes stripping and splicing almost impossible.
