PIcked up the Yubari before the CBT access was included, and getting to play it now I don't regret it at all. Absolutely in-love with her, listening to CV's cry because their planes have ceased to exist never gets old. And those torps..good God those torps are hilarious when they hit.
Jingles, I just want to say thank you. Had you not posted this video, I would have had no idea I was already in the closed beta, and had you not posted the previous video on the premium ships, I would have had no idea the pre-order was going on in time to buy the bundle. The almost compensates for you exposing me to Kantai Collection...
Glad you let us know we could get into the CBT by buying this stuff, only got to play one game before it crashed, but I agree with you it's bloody good.
Out of the three tier six youtubers, quickybaby is the rock star, the mighty jingles is the comedian, and circonflexes is the guy at the back with a rifle and a bad attitude that no-one notices until it's too late.
Managed to have a game similar to this one. Get the Yubari beside a friendly Kongo and...well, aircraft fall from the sky like rocks. Handles beautifully and the guns pack decent punch with a lovely rate of fire. Thanks for the video, Jingles, as you inspired me to take the Yubari out for a drive.
Jingles, can you make a series where you talk about history behind tanks, guns, airplanes and warships? More like factual documentary without in-game footage (or with comparison of real life and in-game features) of said tanks/planes etc. I love hearing your voice and I love history and especially war history. I think it would make interesting series.
swmark78 Yes, he might do but I'm trusty slave from the salt mines. We only get Jingles channel locked in our RUclips (which we see as much as 15 minutes every other Sunday).
Orfiel Agreed, I could listen to him for any subject. Kinda like David Attenborough !!! I could hear it now, "Here comes the male Tog courting the female..........LOL
So after logging into the world of warships site apparently I do have closed beta access, and it's a good thing I checked because I did not receive a single email notifying me of it. Kind of annoyed by that.
My first run in the Yubari was easily my best as well. Fired three torpedo salvos, managed to connect with three torpedo salvos; sunk two Myogis and a Langley. Haven't managed to put a single salvo on target since, on those few occasions when I've been able to launch them.
Melon is great! So Glad I bought a Melon of my own. She's gonna be great! Also access to the CBT was a nice surprise since my original preorder said nothing of getting access.
Yeah, with the Yubari, I almost always launch widespread. About the only time I would recommend using narrow spread is when you close to not more than 3 km and/or against a completely immobile target. I use narrow spread when chasing down carriers - using HE to cripple them as much as possible til I am in range where I know I can sink it with torps!
Bought the 3 ship bundle and I have to say those DDs are awesome. The tier 5 Russian seems to be all about the guns and they pack some mean firepower. The Sims though is just ridiculous, you can do donuts around slow BBs and their turrets just can't keep up with you.
I thought 60 FPS wasn't going to have a super massive impact on the look of a slower game like World of Warships and thought for a second why Jingles wouldn't do a trial on a match of World of Tanks instead. As soon as the camera started panning and he was zooming in and out I thought, damn it makes the game look completely different. Keep the 60 FPS, I like the buttery smoothness of it.
And finally someone who pronounces Japanese correctly, on the video that counted. 私 は ゆうばり が だいすきです。 Yes, yuubari is in hirigana, so people try and read it. 夕張is too hard.
I guess it's not so surprising but on ships the Navy man Mr Jingles plays like Quicky Baby does in tanks. Very good stuff Mr Jingles; sorry Lord Admiral JIngles!
I have have watched this at least 20 times. I don't know what it is about the Yubari but I love this little gem. Sadly I didn't have my gaming PC at the time. I wish it would go on sale again in the US.
The Mighty Jingles Once I got used to torps in general I had VERY little issue racking up massive damage with Yubari's torps, best kills so far are a full HP Kongo, a 48k Fuso, a full HP Independence - and actually quite a many cruiser kills, as well as many other BBs and Carriers at tiers 3-6 at any range of HP! So far though, only 1 kill on a DD using Yubari torps! But with 140mm AP you don't need torps to totally wreck any DD you may find! Oh and the main gun range of the Yubari is top of the class for tier 4! And I would HIGHLY recommend the first level AA skill and the 4th level "armament expertise" skill or whatever it's called. My 25mm AA can start mowing down planes at about 4 KM now!
I like to use islands to get me to "Knife fighting" range of targets I would like to torp! And St Lois drivers are actually my most frequent Torp snack because they are BIG ships, and not very fast, they can turn decently - but I launch all 4 in wide spread, setting off short of the calculated trajectory so that if they try to turn into the spread they almost always eat at least one! And while max rated damage is 14,600, that does NOT a account for internal explosions! Which is why at first it surprised me when a single torp killed a nearly max HP St Louis, but since then I try to land torp hit directly amidships, doing exactly that is what landed me a full HP Kongo! I would have hit all 4 dead center, but after the first 3 hit it blew in half and the 4th just sailed right through the gap!
17:40 I would suggest NEVER using the narrow spread with the Yubari unless you are closing less than 2km from target! Besides, as I've mentioned the Yubari's torps are insanely powerful, so only hitting one or two usually does the trick!
On the photographs you provided it is interesting to see, that the single forward gun is a 140mm artillery. This means that the 140mm gun was later replaced by the 120mm dual purpose artillery. In WoWs I would actually prefer having the 140mm anti ship gun, as the Yubari would then have 5 guns and not only 4 which would improve its combat performance. The dual purpose mount is hardly doing anything as it provides only 2dps AA, and the damage it does as a secondary gun is almost not existent.
I think I am gonna buy it :) I really like my Omaha cruiser and I am regularly managing to take out battleships with its torpedoes. Yubari looks very similar. Cant wait :)
Hey guys, I bought the yubari and Im now in the beta. Im already rocking and its as fun as we have imagined! Omg battleships among cruisers are so much fun, but also vice versa haha but dont get hit!
Nice 1 mate. I finally got into closed beta. been doing cartwheels and sumersaults all day while it uploaded. lol hope to be on same team as you soon =)
You're wrong about one thing: the Yubari carried 6 140mm guns, dispersed into 2 twin and 2 single mountings, the twins superfiring the singles, with the twins in fully enclosed gunhouses and the singles having gun shields to protect them, but nothing else. It never carried 120mm guns.
My impressions: Paper armor with poor health, got one-shotted by enemy CL from full health while on approach straight ahead. Decent mobility - good enough to dodge TBs or enemy torpedo spread in relatively safe way. Surprisingly great torpedoes - can be used as anti-DD measure in desperate situation, combined with high mobility means you can drop 8 torps at enemy BB if needed. Rather poor guns, though double batteries can be nasty from time to time. AA guns are really great, but people tend to know what's up and you probably won't have too much fun using them, though there are matches where you wipe the enemy clean... Overall I would say: Glass cannon cruiser... somewhat reminds me of a heavy destroyer more than an actual cruiser. So gameplay you'll use is probably something of a mix between both. It's fun, but also relatively risky.
Hey Jingles, I don't know how extensive they used this; but during WW2 the Japanese Navy used brightly colored dies in their shells to distinguish which shell splashes were from whose ship. The Battle of Leyte Gulf is a good late war example of this. Not that you would need it in this game, though it would add a very interesting element. Perhaps you may want to mention it to WoW developers. Your videos are great to watch!
I don't actually play WoW (yet) so I'll take you experience over my suggestion. Still, you gotta admit it might look pretty "surreal" (the term I've herd US Sailors use to describe it). You're completely right about the radar used by US and British Navies picking up splashes; perhaps that might be a nice addition to the map, or just as easily an annoying one. Again, I respect your actual hands on experience over my suggestions as an observer.
Jingles have you thought of doing a basic how to guide for WOWs ? One could just be the basics, another game play, another torpedoes etc or by class i.e. how to play japanese destroyers? Just got in and is fairly easy to pick up but torps are a bit of a mystery atm :)
Jingles I would love to see a review of the atlanta from you, she seems to be quite unique as in here main batteries are dual purpose guns I wonder how that works out in combat and how the ship plays in general ^^
Jingles, i was just wondering (and please anyone who has access to the CBT at the current time and date, feel free to answer my question here), I know World of Warships must have Essex Class Carriers, but does World of Warships have the USS Enterprise in the Essex Class of Carriers?
Thanks for the video. On paper, this looked like the least attractive of the 'Light fleet' package. But as it was effectively 2 ships for the price of 3, why not get them all? So it was interesting to see what it can do in action.
any advice on world of tanks? i have done the t55a missions, but the obj 260 missions are imposible.... and it feels like im not enjoying the game anymore
Probably a dumb question, but I'm sure there's a number of knowledgeable seamen who know. Just what exactly is a Citadel? My guess would be that it's the tall structure containing the bridge; but whenever it says "Citadel Penetration" in-game, the shots look like they're hitting the side of the hull. Is the Citadel something else? Perhaps something else contained below deck?
The citidal is the main armored part of the ship. If you think of a ship as a box, the citidal is another box inside that is as (but not quite) as wide and shorter. It's the part in the hull that has the magazines, engine/boiler room, and a few other bits that when hit just may blow up something terrific. Rule of thumb is it's from the front of the forward main gun turret/mount, to the rear of the aft most main gun turret/mount. Anything before or after those have much reduced to no armor. Hence the "All or Nothing armor scheme of the US Navy's ships: bow and stern=nothing, citidal=all. There's a picture of a cruiser after a typhoon hit it with the bow gone, but a nice flat citidal face practical untouched. It had to cross the Pacific going in reverse. You should be able to Google it from that description.
Yanno, a LOT of people seem to dislike the Yubari - and that is fine, personal preference is everything. BUT, I LOVE THIS SHIP! I now own 5 premium ships; The Albany (of course), Arkansas Beta, Murmansk, the AMAZING Atago , and of course the often misunderstood and disliked Yubari! Owning ALL of those premiums as well as a fully upgraded New York, Nicholas, and JUST got the Aoba again - I actually, no joking - have EASILY the most fun most often in my Yubari of ALL the ships I have played to date! And I really couldn't pin down EXACTLY why it is I love the Yubari - FAR MORE than - the Kuma, the Phoenix, the Tenryu, the St Louis, hell even the Omaha! But I can say for CERTAIN that it isn't a blind bias either - I just kick the most ass the most often in the Yubari! My suggestion to people who own a Yubari but don't like it - would be to play it like a CC/DD hybrid with badass AA for the tier. While its top speed is a LITTLE lower than most DDs, at 35.4 knots - with a 3.6 second rudder shift - AND decent concealment, it is AMAZING at sneaking up on CVs, getting past all other ships without being spotted (and if I DO get spotted and it isn't just a passing aircraft, it is most often a lone DD, which the Yubari also excels at killing) - I run the 3% concealment camouflage, which bring surface to 9.2km and air down to like 3.2km. If you turn off AA until spotted, it is actually very easy to get by the main enemy lines without detection, if you manage that without being killed, and there are CVs left, it turns into a GREAT hunter! Anyway, the TL;DR is simply this; The Yubari does not SEEM to offer a whole lot for its tier, but with the right play-style, it can be GREAT fun and absolutely devastating! Did I mention that 1v1 against a St Louis in the Yubari is an EASY win if you know how best to use the Yubari, and so many people point to ships like the St Louis and Kuma claiming them to be outright better, but in my hands? Kuma has very little chance 1v1 as well! Yubari is a TINY target, smaller and lower than most DDs! The guns are VERY accurate with the dual shot grouping almost always results in 2 hits minimum, and while the torp arc IS quite restrictive, once you get used to it, I really have NO problems using them to great effect! Oh yeah, and the Yubari's torps? They are THE BEST of any ship til you get the final torps for the Furutaka. Because at tier 4, Yubari's torps are some of the fastest - and apart from the Iwaki Alpha, they are the most damaging torpedoes at tier 4 by far! 6km range isn't amazing, but when you can outrun and out maneuver anything that isn't a DD, they really can work wonders, I have split a Fuso in half with 3 of them - the 4th would have hit too, but the ship blew in half and the last torp just sailed through the gap!
Oh, and my BEST game since Open Beta? 100,250 in my Yubari - ALL guns too! I WRECKED two CVs, got the kill for one - I have the screen shots, I forget the exact details but I killed at least two ships, got Confederate, and survived with something like 8k HP left.
got the offer 3 days ago!considaring that most games cost around 50-60 euros on launch it wasnt that bad of an offer plus the three ships plus the other stuff. i just got my kongo an hour ago. is it me or is tier progression faster in this game?
Nice vid Jingles, I also adore the Yubari. I have hit and killed people with torps but its more like " oh you wanna get close to me?....... suprise!!!! "
First game with this ship last night, killed a destroyer, cruiser, battleship and a carrier, also shot down 23 planes in my second game, love this ship
This game is brilliant. I dont know what i am doing but its brilliant :D SO glad i got into the closed beta. But its so much more to learn and so compleatly different from WoT
Is there any way to switch to imperial units (knots, calibers, inches, nautical miles)? I understand that Wargaming are Belarusian but the metric system is not used in shipping and navies, and being British I have an even harder time xD
i want to play world of warships as well, and i was planning on buying a package with beta acces. but I am afraid that maybe my computer won't be able to handle world of warships. is world of warships a heavier game than world of tanks? or can i play world of warships if i can play world of tanks (on low grapichs)?
my record in aircraft shot down in Yubari at the moment is 32 aircraft shot down and 40.000 aircraft damage (after cv rework). and i got a dubblestrike with the torpedo's. a clemson and a phenix they were :D
I can't target secondary target so does not matter to me, for some reason when I press Ctrl the pointer never shows and the key is working fine. lol So a ship that's pretty damn good at AA would be pointless to me as I could not select there targets. Unless anyone knows why my ctrl don't seem to do shit.
Jingles, do you think P.T. boats could be in the game? Here are my arguments as to why, but knowing you, you'll think of several counters and burn me, but here we go. PT boats would be categorized in the role of scouting, they would be very fast ( 50-60 knots) and very small. Due to these factors they would be very hard to hit due to there maneuverability . Also with very small size they would be very hard to spot. The armament would be very small( probably 1 main battery and 2-4 torpedo tubes. And little to no AA because of its maneuverability ) How to play it: the main role as i said would be to scout, stay out of combat unless absolutely necessary. For these ships would be easy one shots. (And with the very limited armament the guns and torpedoes would need to reload faster than usual to balance out the lack of armament.) Since almost everything is sacrificed for speed and maneuverability if shells were to hit the ship they would be a one shot kill to almost everything except other PTs and some destroyers. Carrier drivers should be worried but not horrified for the PT would still take awhile to take down even a carrier. And there's always the possibility of ramming( if the driver is stupid enough to get caught in a crossing for the damage taken would be minimal due to the PTs small health pool.) Hope you read this and don't burn me to hard on me. Catcha next time
Dang it, I had meant to pick this up, but I didn't realize that it wouldn't be available once the game went open beta. Any idea if it's going to come back to the shop?
Hey jingles is their a due date when WoWs comes out to open beta?, i was looking on getting in early before b-day but wargaming doesn't seem to be giving them out anymore.
4, nearly 5 years later and I still love his laugh to this very day and this laugh! Also damn I miss the old gun sounds, some of them.
I miss it to be honest. A far simpler time
Thanks a lot Jingles for switching to 60fps, it makes the video a lot smoother and more enjoyable to watch!
I like the sound of your laughter Jingles, you must be a very pleasant ship commander to serve under;)
Admiral Anderson High praise from the admiral with the smoothest voice in the Alliance.
Admiral Anderson You've never worked on these floating sea salt mines then, have you? :)
Orfiel I've been sending Reapers to them, does that count? ;)
Admiral Anderson Sorry, you either mine salt or...well, I know nothing else in my life. #SaltMines4Life
Admiral Anderson You just wait till the old man hears about this.
PIcked up the Yubari before the CBT access was included, and getting to play it now I don't regret it at all. Absolutely in-love with her, listening to CV's cry because their planes have ceased to exist never gets old. And those torps..good God those torps are hilarious when they hit.

bill walsh Hahaha
Fascinating story about the AA, Jingles. I love how you make Wargaming look really clever here ;)
jingles thank you for uploading this at 60fps!!!!!!!!
I do love your maniacal laughter when you sink a ship....good stuff. Very entertaining.
Oh neat that you did the Yubari class. I started getting tired of waiting for the CBT key, so I ended up buying the CBT pack with the Yubari.
Jingles? Are you ok? 60fps video? I thought everyone couldn't watch videos in 60fps? I guess I will enjoy the hell out of this then.
So after logging into the world of warships site apparently I do have closed beta access, and it's a good thing I checked because I did not receive a single email notifying me of it.
Kind of annoyed by that.
Baxter same thing happened to me!
I had an email. Check your spam and promotion folders before complaining.
Killjoy I didn't get an email at all from them, not even in my spam.
Killjoy I checked and I didn't get one. I found out on Facebook when I saw the post by World of Warships.
If you are using gmail the email would have probably ended up in your promotions inbox instead of the general one or junkbox
Wonderful video. I really enjoy these detailed videos about a single warship. Keep up the great work Mighty Jingles.
Thanks for the video. I really wasnt feeling this ship at all, but now i feel confident giving it another shot.
My first run in the Yubari was easily my best as well. Fired three torpedo salvos, managed to connect with three torpedo salvos; sunk two Myogis and a Langley. Haven't managed to put a single salvo on target since, on those few occasions when I've been able to launch them.
Jesus that impact at 13:12! Jingles, his ship *did* lift out of the water. His propellers went airborne LOL! Those torps hit like a truck.
Melon is great! So Glad I bought a Melon of my own. She's gonna be great! Also access to the CBT was a nice surprise since my original preorder said nothing of getting access.
Too bad there aren't any subs in this game, or else Melon would be even better! Depth charge and triple sonar, anyone?
OfDaSouth Yes please, with a side of 1-5
Keep the ship reviews coming Admiral Jingles.
Keep up this level of background/intro detail please. The history levels are a lot of fun.

that accuracy on the Yubari looks really good.

I'm coming from the future, and I'm telling you: It's a great vid! ;)
I guess it's not so surprising but on ships the Navy man Mr Jingles plays like Quicky Baby does in tanks. Very good stuff Mr Jingles; sorry Lord Admiral JIngles!
Jingles, watching your play level in WoWs... I'm starting to believe you may be a Super-Unicum in this game!
I really like this ship :) It is fun to play. Good vid Jingles!

it is now
No problem with this 60fps replay Jingels. Hope there is more where this came from ;).

Looks like it's going to be an amazing game!
In 2022, she's still a fun ship. With a 40% reduction, her shell dispersion is 78. :-)
happy as ever, i bought my way to an CBT account, hell yeah
Yay. Jingles is uploading in 60FPS again. :D
this is one of the best shows on world of warships
This looks like a upgraded hashidate... I love it!
Jingles, you are such a lucky SOB sometimes. Those kills... such a lucker!
Hey guys, I bought the yubari and Im now in the beta. Im already rocking and its as fun as we have imagined! Omg battleships among cruisers are so much fun, but also vice versa haha but dont get hit!
I wish RUclips would allow differentiation of the frame rate and quality. I want to watch in 720p, but cannot handle it if its 60fps.
Jingles, are you going to make an aircraft carrier video? They've got some interesting RTS mechanics for those
Killjoy
Go watch "ichase Gaming". He does a lot of carrier videos.
Dano UK Couldn't care less, if I just wanted to see carrier gameplay I'd play them myself (which I do). I just want to see Jingles' take on them
Killjoy
In that case, excuse me for the suggestion!
Is that a Kitakami I spotted in your dock? I am very much looking forward to a video of how she plays!
Its a bit tough watching the video in 1080p 60 fps. Consider changing back to 40 fps 1080p
Nice 1 mate. I finally got into closed beta. been doing cartwheels and sumersaults all day while it uploaded. lol hope to be on same team as you soon =)
This ship now has the "defensive fire" cooldown, making it uber powerful against aircraft.
You're wrong about one thing: the Yubari carried 6 140mm guns, dispersed into 2 twin and 2 single mountings, the twins superfiring the singles, with the twins in fully enclosed gunhouses and the singles having gun shields to protect them, but nothing else. It never carried 120mm guns.
are you gonna resart the serie because of all the change that happened iin the last year
pls jingles
Back in 60fps! I like it!

I saw a very interesting ship in your bay... Kitakami, the torpedo monster :D
may you review this thing?
Hey Jingles, I don't know how extensive they used this; but during WW2 the Japanese Navy used brightly colored dies in their shells to distinguish which shell splashes were from whose ship. Your videos are great to watch!
Not really useful and if japan gets that all US Battleships & Cruisers should get an autodetect radar for ten KM past tier 4.
I don't actually play WoW (yet) so I'll take you experience over my suggestion. Still, you gotta admit it might look pretty "surreal" (the term I've herd US Sailors use to describe it). I barely got past T 3 when I remembered naval action exist but If I get confused i can just follow my shots.
Yess thanks jingles i got access to CBT :D

I wonder how that works out in combat and how the ship plays in general ^^
Jingles, i was just wondering (and please anyone who has access to the CBT at the current time and date, feel free to answer my question here), I know World of Warships must have Essex Class Carriers, but does World of Warships have the USS Enterprise in the Essex Class of Carriers?
This game looks awesome !! I enjoy watching your videos. Hey Jingles, you ever play against "Bismark" ?
I like these little history lessons :)
Thanks for the video. On paper, this looked like the least attractive of the 'Light fleet' package. But as it was effectively 2 ships for the price of 3, why not get them all? So it was interesting to see what it can do in action.
can you do something about the carriers i have no idea how they play
Woohooo! Something to have breakfast with! Thank you jinlges you are the best.
was89sam Heh. I'm having Lunch.
Mr.Gamerzz Heh, I'm having dinner
Heh, im having brunch :p
Heh, I'm having 5 AM ice cream Breakfast.
Your laugh... it's so satisfying :)
any advice on world of tanks? i have done the t55a missions, but the obj 260 missions are imposible.... and it feels like im not enjoying the game anymore
Does anyone know if World of warships came out yet or when's it's going to be available to the public?
I WRECKED two CVs, got the kill for one - I have the screen shots, I forget the exact details but I killed at least two ships, got Confederate, and survived with something like 8k HP left.
so does that secondary armament any work except AA duties?
Seems strangely familiar with the last WoW video you posted Jingles.
got the offer 3 days ago!considaring that most games cost around 50-60 euros on launch it wasnt that bad of an offer plus the three ships plus the other stuff. i just got my kongo an hour ago. is it me or is tier progression faster in this game?
If u can answer this jingles it would be great I would like you to teach me how to tog at some point
bought this yabari pack, but it doesnt give me a access key or tell me any way how im supposed to access the CBT? Do you know what im supposed to do?
which is the cheapest you can get to get in the cbt?
Did they nerf the Yubari's guns? I've never gotten citadel penetrations like Jingles got in this game.
Ive had some decent games in this and it makes good silver, it is however very vulnerable to Clevelands.
Jingles rocking that 60FPS!
jingles could you do a new video on the ferdenand
This game is brilliant. I dont know what i am doing but its brilliant :D SO glad i got into the closed beta. But its so much more to learn and so compleatly different from WoT
Bought the Yubari package, how the hell do I get the client?
Can I use the atago to grind research points to unlock the rest of the Japanese cruisers?
Is there any way to switch to imperial units (knots, calibers, inches, nautical miles)? I understand that Wargaming are Belarusian but the metric system is not used in shipping and navies, and being British I have an even harder time xD
Jingles have you tried the Murmansk and if so what do you think of it??
I have the Yubari and I love it! game is fantastic!
i want to play world of warships as well, and i was planning on buying a package with beta acces.
but I am afraid that maybe my computer won't be able to handle world of warships.
is world of warships a heavier game than world of tanks? or can i play world of warships if i can play world of tanks (on low grapichs)?
my record in aircraft shot down in Yubari at the moment is 32 aircraft shot down and 40.000 aircraft damage (after cv rework). and i got a dubblestrike with the torpedo's. a clemson and a phenix they were :D
I can't target secondary target so does not matter to me, for some reason when I press Ctrl the pointer never shows and the key is working fine. lol
So a ship that's pretty damn good at AA would be pointless to me as I could not select there targets.
Any idea if it's going to come back to the shop?
in 4 hours I'll be on my way home to start playing in CBT.
Yes, I bought a Sims to do it, but oh well. Time to get my sea legs.
Hey jingles is their a due date when WoWs comes out to open beta?, i was looking on getting in early before b-day but wargaming doesn't seem to be giving them out anymore.
