The reason you're struggling to to find any downside to the Los Andes is that because the PanAm Battleships are currently the most over powered and idiot proof ships WG has ever released. And that's including the standard German Battleship line. WG took the German BB concept of "As long as you have a pulse, you can do well in these ships." and cranked it to 11 with the PanAm BBs

the funniest part, I clicked on the thumbnail thinking, Man, it has as month since he posted and his first statement is that it has not been a month...
Thanks Jingles, although I think what you meant to say in reference to the Los Andes secondaries instead of "its like having a Hindenberg strapped" which only has 203mm guns albeit 12 of them so a higher broadside weight, is that "its like having a Goliath strapped" as Goliath (and Drake and Cheshire are heavy cruisers with 234mm guns).
Fun Fact: Los Andes translates to, quite literally, the Andes as the ship was meant to be named after the Andes Mountains in western South America with Mount Algonquin being the tallest mountain in the Andes.
I was missing the uploads! RE: BBs outturning destroyers, there's USN documentation that has turning radius on Iowas as being less than Fletchers, thanks to their very large rudders and massive skegs putting waterflow over them
Well, there are a few other heavy cruisers -- not meaning supercruisers or BCs -- that have larger than 8" guns. Napoli, for instance, 10" (254 bloody metric milli things) main battery guns. Napoli's not the only one.
I recently unlocked Los Andes and that ship is bonkers. Sure, it lacks hydro (a big drawback for a brawling BB), but having a heavy cruiser strapped to each side certainly helps. Not to mention it has cruiser-like handling as well. That ship is extremely easy to play and farm XP with.
Oh God, seeing PanAm BBs turning rate from the player PoV like this makes it even more disgusting. Look at the length of that thing, it should have 1 km turning circle >_
The worst thing about the Los Andes reload speed is the combat instruction. Because after 60 seconds without any progress on the instruction, it begins to decay pretty rapidly. So after hitting an enemy you reload for 33 seconds, and if you miss that salvo you reload for 33 seconds... that's 66 seconds without instruction progress, so you lose a big portion of the progress you made from the first salvo. Because of this I have found myself for maybe the first time since I started playing being super grateful when I get shot at because it means I get to keep my progress.
Maybe that means you're playing it too far back if nobody shoots at you. I very much doubt the current playerbase on average is smart enough to not shoot a target because it'd be beneficial to the target to be shot (at).
"checks channel" Don't worry jingles its only been 3 weeks. Its only the 7th of January after all and the last one was like what... Mid December? C Colombo if can get the leg mod as well. Is fun for the person in the C Colombo, not so much fun for the opponent, especially if catch a cruiser broadside. Get the Italian commander as well so that range extended upon first kill. Lots of videos of how powerful the ship is now like that.
