    Good set of images Roger, I love the north Norfolk coast for wildlife photography. So much variety.

      Thanks for commenting Steve. The north Norfolk coast is one of my favourite areas. Its a bit of a drive from Colchester for a one day trip, so I always try to stay up there for a couple of days. It helps to make the journey worthwhile. How the Waxwing video going ? I have subscribed to your channel, so will look out for it. Best wishes for 2024, and no doubt we will bump into one another at some reserve in the future.

      Hi Roger, yes I will drive there and back in a day but generally I'm the same, better to stop over. North Norfolk is just that bit too far. Thanks very much for subscribing, I've done the same for your channel. I got some lovely waxwing images although the next video will feature red kites, cracking birds I think. Yep hopefully we'll bump into each other in the future. All the best, Steve.

    I really enjoyed these videos Roger, thanks for sharing your great photos and settings used. The North Norfolk coast is one of my favourite places to visit, I first discovered these locations and others on a Norfolk bird photo workshop with Chris Gomersall. Snettisham is great if you can visit morning or evening for the high tides. I'm hoping OM Systems will bring out something that does the high speed slow motion video capture with 4k and AF at some point, I'm not sure if it is possible with a firmware update - we shall have to wait and see!

      Thanks for the very kind comment Bill. Glad you liked the videos. Norfolk is a great location. I have been thinking of going on one of Chris Gomerdall`s Norfolk workshops. We have never met, but he seems a great chap. I agree with your comment about the OM1 for video in slow motion. Although I love the OM1, I do hope that when the next camera comes out (OM1mkII or and OM2 ??? who knows ) that they have imroved the autofocus fo video. It would be fantastic if it would autofocus at 120fps.

      Thanks Mark. Snettisham and Titchwell are great locations. I am intending to go to the area again in the new year, hopefully when there is another high tide at Snettisham. It would be nice to get the masses of birds in flight.

    hi Roger
    I haven't followed you for a while. no time for that, and I doubt I'll move from full frame to Micro 4/3. anyway your photos are of rare beauty.

    • @rogerhance5883
      @rogerhance5883  Год назад

      Thank for the kind comment. There are definate advantages to full frame, and if your happy with that, all well and good. To be perfectly honest, there are times when full frame would be a big advantage but at my age, the weight issue was the problem. The last two video have been more about the locations and the type of birds there than a plug for M4/3. Once again, thanks for the kind comment.

      @@rogerhance5883 hi Roger
      thanks for your quick response. I am 61 years old, and also for me the great weight and the towering purchase price of the lenses and bodies are a reason why I am looking at the Micro 4/3 system. with which software program do you denoise your photos.
      yours sincerely

      I move the Luminance slider to 20% in Lightroom, and then export to Photoshop. When I have worked the image up in Photoshop, the last thing I do before saving it is to put it through Topaz DeNoise AI . Then any noise will magically disapear. @@theflyingdutchman7127

    Thanks Roger for another very nicely produced video. I’ve been shooting with the OM1+300mm f4 for a year now. It does everything I want and more. Makes me look good. However, now I’m considering the 150-400mm f4.5. Question is: have you ever thought about using the 300mm since acquiring the 150-400mm or is it now unused?

    • @rogerhance5883
      @rogerhance5883  Год назад

      Hi Tim, Glad you liked the video. I did sell my 300mm F4 lens to help finance buying the 150-400mm, but in hindsight, I wish I hadn`t. Although the 150-400mm is fantastic, and I use it a lot, there are times when the 300mm would be nice to have because of the lightness. I loved the 300mm for macro photography, and a lot of shots were possible butterflies/damselflies on days when you could not get near the subject. Although I can still do that with the 150-400mm, I find that because of the extra weight, for macro, I really need to put it on a monopod. If you can afford to keep the 300mm, I would hang on to it for a year to see if you are going to need it . Hope this helps.

    Very nice video Roger. I just recently purchased my new Nikon Camera with a 420-800mm lens. After about a week of practice i have managed to get some nice footage and some shots. Its a fully manual lens.. this is ok for me as I usually manually focus anyway, its just harder for the flight shots. I have been shooting with a shutter speed of 1/4000 and ISO at 1600 but if come across the problem of having noise or dark photos… could you help me with this? James.

    • @rogerhance5883
      @rogerhance5883  Год назад +2

      HI James. Thanks for the kind comment about the video. Focusing manually for birds in flight is very difficult, so I understand your problem. Regarding the noise. I found Topaz DeNoise to be brilliant at eliminating any noise produced from using high ISO settings. Its one of the best bits of software I have bought. Hope this helps.
